I can see why this place has such a high rating. If I could give percentage of stars they would get a 4.5. We sat at the bar downstairs. We arrived towards the end of Brunch so the outside seating wasn't available. We tried a few drinks and went thru the menu. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked great so instead of ordering a pizza we decided to try several small plates. Our first course was the chicken skewers ginger soy. I wanted to try the Jerk but they were out. The meatballs were next. These were very good but the star of the plate was the bread with homemade honey butter. Wow. I got the cheese bread with pepperoni with side of marinara which is like a mini version of their pizza. We wife got the cucumber and Feta salad. I almost ordered a second plate. It was simple but so good. I look forward to trying the pizza . The Nashville Hot Chicken Pizza caught my eye

Come early if you want a table but White Rabbit Gastro Pub is worth the effort for sure. Tucked in a no-visibility corner of Frederick behind the Church Street Parking Garage, this gem of a local restaurant inhabits the space that was La Paz years ago. It's certainly worth the effort to come and find and would even be worth the (expectable) wait for a table. Reservations are not accepted, so planning is the watchword. At 11:30 am on a late winter Saturday which was damp and dreary, we got one of the last tables. Aiming for healthier fare, we got "bowls" (one rice-based with tofu, and one greens-based with shrimp. Both were tasty, plentiful and delicious. This is upscale dining and not perhaps super-affordable for the cost. A $20 salas out to be super-plentiful and delicious to justify the expense, but these both definitely well. Despite a bazillion competitors within walking distance, we definitely plan to come back. We're fans.

Cool vibe in downtown Frederick, Maryland. The night we went it was super busy. Had to wait for a table about 30 minutes, but we hung out at the bar and the drinks were really good. Would definitely suggest getting the crab poutine as an appetizer so tasty. I got the Carmella's cutlet as my main meal, very big couldn't finish it all also very good.

Stopped at White Rabbit Gastropub on Mother's Day while passing through downtown Frederick, and I'm glad we did. The restaurant is tucked into a really charming historic-style building with a cozy speakeasy atmosphere, exposed brick, and a lot of character. You can tell why it's so well reviewed. One thing worth mentioning for anyone visiting downtown Frederick: parking was actually much easier than we realized at first. We initially parked on another street because we didn't know there was parking nearby, but there's public parking very close to the restaurant, and we even noticed EV/Tesla charging nearby as well. We arrived around 9:15 PM and learned that last call was only a few minutes away, which was completely our fault, but the staff still took the time to help guide us toward a few good menu choices and never made us feel rushed. Everyone was genuinely friendly and welcoming. The Old Fashioned came out quickly and was very solid. The standout dish of the night was definitely the Crispy Brussels Sprouts with walnuts, absolutely excellent and probably my favorite thing we ordered. For the main course, we had the Maryland Crab Detroit Pizza. I liked it, but didn't love it. The Detroit-style crust was thicker and softer than I expected, more heavy and bread-forward than crispy, and combined with the béchamel-style sauce it ended up feeling a little too rich for my taste. Still good quality ingredients, just not quite my preference. Although the Maryland Crab Detroit Pizza wasn't really my personal favorite, there were plenty of other dishes on the menu that looked excellent. I'd definitely come back to try more of what they offer. For dessert, we tried the Churro Donuts with cinnamon sugar and dulce de leche. They were decent, but the texture leaned a little soggy rather than crisp or airy. We had also hoped to try another dessert that sounded great, a warm brownie-style dessert, but they had sold out after a busy weekend. Overall, I'd absolutely come back. The food was good overall, the drinks and service were strong, and the ambiance is really what makes the place memorable. If I'm back in downtown Frederick, this is definitely somewhere I'd consider returning to.

This place is a great spot in town for good drinks and eats. The Veronica Vaughn pizza was excellent with the ricotta being very abundant and the pepperoni being cooked nice and cupped along with that slight hot honey kick. The brussel sprouts were a great flavored green to have. The crab poutine fries were good but nothing to write home about. The vibe and atmosphere was intimate and felt like a nice dark but speakeasy type vibe but with the energy of a gastropub. The cocktails were also very well made. The staff was very nice and attentive. There is a wait if you don't have reservations so I recommend getting it ahead of time.

Came here with a group of friends for lunch after hiking at Ganbrils state park. We didnt have reservations but was able to get seat outside. Our server was friendly and told us we could scan QR code to get the menu. I saw someone else eating a Smash burger and knew I wanted one. I also ordered a Pious pear cider which was nice and too sweet. The burger had all the toppings and was filling. The group shared an order of crab poutine which was delicious. We had a bit of food envy when we saw other tables with pizza. I would love to come back and try their pizza. Had a great experience and would recommend this to others.

This was our first stop from BWI airport for a "quick" lunch on our way out to Leesburg VA. We overstayed just because of White Rabbit. So inviting, welcoming, excellent food, draft lines and cocktails. Leah was amazing! If this is your first visit to the area, she should be the first person you meet. Even the patrons were very nice. Get the cheesy bread!! It kinda has a vibe of Cheers in Brooklyn thing going on except way friendlier like genuinely nice people. No fake BS here. I would move to this town just based off of this pub and immediately have a friend group. Will return!!!

Absolutely delicious! We had the cheese bread, crab soup, and the award winning Detroit style pizza. Everything was delicious!

My first time here. We ate at the bar since it was booked and busy. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. The drinks were good. I got a smash burger with parmesan fries. It was soooooooo good. It came with a sauce that I think was mustard based. Also delicious. It was such a good burger. My friend loved her dill pickle pizza. I would come here again. I heard upstairs is really cute. The downstairs bar area was nice!

Detroit friend approved! If you're looking for a place that serves great Detroit-style pizza and accommodates big groups, White Rabbit is perfect. We ordered one too many pizzas (6), but they were all crispy and delicious. One of the most unique pizzas - the Maryland's Best Crab Pizza - was a winner for me. Any of the ones with pepperoni were also good. I usually eat two slices max of Detroit-style pizza, but I definitely had to go over my limit to try almost all the pies. My group left a little over four slices left after the feast, so basically a whole pizza. The wait was 40 minutes at around 4:30pm, but I think there were a lot of people there from the street festival that Saturday afternoon. My friends and I were enjoying Tenth Ward nearby when we got the text that our table was ready. White Rabbit was willing to hold the table after my friend ran over to say we were on our way. I think White Rabbit is great for groups because of the separate ordering on Toast Tab. You can order and pay for items as an individual and as a group, so people could order their own drinks on their own tabs. The check splitting for all the pizzas was easier afterwards when we put it all on one person's credit card.

I've been a regular at White Rabbit Gastropub since moving to Frederick in 2022, and it has consistently delivered a 5-star experience. Sure, like any restaurant, an order can occasionally be less than perfect--but honestly, I've never had a reason to complain here. My go-to appetizer is always the cheesesteak empanadas (absolutely incredible), and hands down, the Smash Burger is the BEST I've ever had. Their pizza? Equally amazing--crispy, flavorful, and perfectly done every time. Whether you're local or just visiting Frederick, White Rabbit should be at the top of your list. Great food, great vibes, and one of the best spots in town.

(UPDATE) Food: The food is still just as advertised, and delicious. The staff is accommodating and helpful despite the QR code menu system. I personally recommend the Pizza, especially their Veronica Vaughn. Service: The restaurant can sometimes have a long wait, but it's worth it. Servers flip tables quickly and are transparent about wait times. Food never takes too long, so expect quick service on slower days, with more of a half hourish wait on busy days (depending on what you order). Ambiance: As a young adult , I love the vibe established in the White Rabbit! Often I recognize some of my own favorite songs on the radio! So shout out to whoever puts together the playlists. Tables are small downstairs, but the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. Good hang spot. There is bar seating upstairs and downstairs. Oh! And worth mentioning are the tasteful paintings hung along the stairways. I absolutely recommend the White Rabbit to any couple or group of friends in the downtown frederick area. It's a go-to for me. Thank you to the staff and owners for so many great lunches and dinners!

My sister came to visit and we just looked a random place to eat in downtown Frederick and stumbled upon the White Rabbit. We were greeted at the door able to get quick seating at the bar. Leah was amazing. She made sure we had our drinks quickly. She explained the menu to us as it was our first time. Her recommendations were excellent. She checked in regularly with us and made sure we were taken care of. We hope to run into her again when we come back. The food we chose were all delicious. The pizza was my favorite with the empanadas a close second. The crab poutine was different but my sister really enjoyed it. Portions were good and I think the food was priced well. The building is a little hidden but there is some enjoyment in finding it almost feels like you have to be in the know. The restaurant itself was dimly lit but that is expected of a pub. I enjoyed it myself. Bright lights is not always needed. Overall a great experience and I will definitely be back and will recommend it to anyone who happens to be in the area.

Ask the Community - White Rabbit Gastropub

    Do they currently accept reservations?

No, but they put you on a call list and text you

Do they have TVs at one the bars to watch a game?

    I don't think so.

I am on a keto friendly diet, does that pepperoni crust have no breading? I have never been here but I would make a trip if this is an option!! I miss pizza! :) is it?

I'm not sure it was keto but call them and ask. :)

Menu looks delicious but very " bready." Any gluten free options for the gluten-intolerant guests?

Omg, yes!! They have a lot of gluten free options. I had the cream of crab soup, totally gluten free and the only one I've found at a restaurant thus far. There are definitely meal options, too. Go eat there, you will not be disappointed!!!

Does white rabbit over space for private events?

It's a small business, and very receptive I'd say likely

If you've ever seen the delicious food shown on The Bear, or even better if you've had the food recommended by Everyone in Chicago, then like me, you have been searching Maryland for authentic Chicago-Italian-Beef-Sandwiches! *** (I'm a little excited here ;-) These are NOT Philly cheese-steaks ... Please, no cheese on these! No fresh-"salad" on the sandwich! No onions! And these are not French-Dip ... These have better seasoning and softer bread. These are made with very-thin-sliced beef (imported from Chicago :-), just thick enough not to fall apart when slowly simmered in delicious seasonings including the tiniest trace of hot spices. The Italian roll is soft to drink up lots of juice, or to soak in juice if you order it "wet", which is a Chicago thing. The bread just has to hold together for as long as you are holding on. This place makes it savory and perfectly, and the manager happily gave us additional juice on the side. I love this sandwich with softly simmered "sweet" green peppers, or you can get with "hot" giardiniera mixed pickled veggies, either one is authentic, and this place uses the Rosati's brand which has a nice kick to it. I got it with a side of fresh hot thick-enough crispy fries, like i used to have at Johnnies west-of-Chicago. It's a filling 6-inch sandwich. This is heavenly! This is the branch of Rosati's that makes it's pizza-sauce fresh on-site, and uses delicious crust and sausage brought in from Chicago. I brought home a frozen deep-dish pizza. Dinner tonight! This storefront is 0.2-miles east of US-15, off 7th Street at Fairview. It's in the middle along the east of the large parking lot. This place is sparkling clean. There are two tables totaling four seats, for dining in the restaurant, which we did. There's a coin-operated candy machine for a handful of skittles or m&m's. The manager is friendly and accommodating. A real nice experience!

I ordered takeout, but I will say that I did not realize in advance that the place would be basically a pure takeout with only a single table (albeit one that was well-attended during my visit). I've been to several of the big players in Chicago. The pizza here smells right, the sauce has the tang you'd expect. The crust didn't quite hold up for me, making for a messy pizza and not the most impressive flavor. Ordering a spinach pizza was a good decision as the spinach was abundant. A salad was robust in size, though they did not have my first choice dressing. A tiramisu made a nice divergence on a later date. They made two mistakes with my order, giving me a garlic bread with cheese that I'd ordered without, and not giving me a side of sweet peppers that I'd ordered. These weren't huge enough to make we want to drive back there to get corrective action on. Overall, I got the deep dish pizza I came for, and if I really had a hankering I could see ending up here again, but there are certainly areas for improvement.

It's retro with exposed brick walls and large screen televisions. Our server was very sweet, personable and professional. (I'm so sorry, I forgot her name.) We shared appetizers, calamari, fried perfectly along with eggplant Parmesan. Both winners. For entrees, I had the meatball hero, stuffed with well seasoned and sauced balls of deliciousness. My wife had the gyro served in three pieces of pita (on a taco stand). Not only spiced well, but NOT the usual mess with tzatziki sauce and cut chopped tomatoes spilling everywhere. Our friend had the salmon and he was impressed. For dessert it was gelato for two and I had the affogato. Sinful, the whipped cream seemed to have a little more sugar than normal, but it made the dessert that much more decadent. If you live in Frederick or are just passing through...recommended.

Oddest part was while we sat there - there was a 2 top table free almost the whole time we were eating. So - we could have easily been waited on in a normal setting. Nice place overall - different areas to sit, outside dining, etc etc. Service however was atrocious. It may be the fact they don't have enough people in the wait staff, but our waitress was as absent as it gets. Asked for a refill, took forever - after ordering appetizer it would have been good to then put in our entree order - but wasn't until the pizza came out 25 min later that we could do that. Asked for bread, she remembered after our entrees came out 45min after ordered - 4 small cubes. You would think when you're struggling at waiting on a table, you'd try and make up for it. Pizza was good. We got a Margherita pizza - standard and fresh as we watched them make it. For my entree I got the penne vodka and added a meatball. Lol. No sauce on that meatball and it was cold.
