Stopped to grab something to eat while heading to PA. Not too far off the highway and the perfect midway stop for our trip. It seemed like a truly local bar -- I loved the vibes and the packed bar. They had an excellent beer selection and a pretty decent burger. However, the star was really the shaved steak Bahn Mi. Great flavor combination, and excellently marinated. Parking was a bit of a challenge, but I suppose that is to be expected at dinner time when every single table in the place is taken :) I think this may be our new go to stop when visiting family! read more

I can't wait to come back. I work remote out of Frederick and realize that every time I come into town, I am eating here. The bangers and mash was so delicious. Cooked and seasoned perfectly. Could've used a little more bangers though. I thought it was a little skimpy. I guess I'll have to get an appetizer with it. They have to be expertly trained as it shows in their dishes. We were there on a very cold day in January and it was cold inside. Maybe their heat was out but be prepared with a dinner hoodie. Service was pretty good, she could've smiled more. Stopped by for a quick lunch during a day of errands. We got the Roastie Burger and the turkey pastrami sandwich. The Roastie was messy but tasty. A little overcooked for the medium rare I requested. My wife's sandwich was very good. A little too much slaw, made it hard to eat. Just have to scrape it off. The sides are good. They must not have a fryer. No fries or chips. I was in Frederick for a Submarine Reunion and really wanted some crab cakes. Well, I hit the jackpot with this place! It was one of the best crabcakes I've ever eaten! There was hardly any filler, and it was literally cooked to perfection! They have a full bar and a very good craft beer selection. The place is somewhat small, but that makes it very cozy. The food and service was good and they accommodated the 12 people in our party. However, they would only issue one check for the group (5 couples and 2 singles) which caused a lot of issues in paying. One couple had to pay and the others had to pay them back. It took a few years, but I made it back! I read my previous review and ordered the same roasthouse pub burger (not disappointed). This time, I bypassed the brussel sprout and ordered the side salad with the house chili thai dressing. It was delicious, but if you don't like spicy change out the dressing. Remember the rotating taps? Well, my favorite beer rotated on out of there. They offer 2oz, 5oz, and 16oz pours, so we settled on a few 5oz pours. If you don't like committing to a single beer, this is for you! We also had the chicken wings with old bay (very good) swapping out carrots for celery. The celery was so fresh and crisp! Note: Despite listing outdoor seating on Yelp, there isn't any outdoor seating here, and the ac works great (note to self: bring a sweater). read more

The Roasthouse Burger is the pinnacle of this delicious complexity. 1/2 lb. local Angus patty, Maple Bourbon Bacon Jam, house-cured Jalapeno Bacon, Buffalo Mozzarella, house sweet pickled jalapenos and the toasted Bavarian Pretzel bun offers the perfect chewiness and the burger meat has the perfect fat to meat ratio - high quality and perfectly cooked. The other dish that you definitely should try is the Ham Brisket Sandwich... it is a 1/2 lb glazed Applewood smoked Ham Brisket with white cheddar, jalapeno bacon on a Bavarian pretzel bun. Warning: they don't have fries or onion rings. But offer a side salad with an amazingly spicy Asian teriyaki house dressing that I wish was being sold by the bottle. They also cook red potatoes in bacon fat or mashed potatoes. For beer lovers... they definitely have an amazing assortment of beers that will meet all serious beer aficionados. We had an awesome experience at The Roasthouse Pub last night. We attended the private beer and dinner event by guest host Duclaw Brewery Co. The four course meal with delicious and the service was excellent. I definitely recommend trying out Roasthouse Pub if you like a good beer, and since it's local, it has a friendly and welcoming environment. The first course was the watermelon salad with feta. The watermelon was fresh and sweet, which complimented well with the blueberry vinaigrette dressing and feta. Such a refreshing start to our dining experience. Then second course was the catfish and corn chowder, which was a creamy and savory flavor. It was excellent. Then the main course was the pulled pork cakes with cheesy grits and asparagus. This was paired with Duclaw's hazy IPA "West Coast Style," which is a very dank IPA. Last and definitely my favorite, fourth and final course, was dessert. It was a chocolate filled churro with praline ice cream paired with an Irish cream dessert stout. Wow amazingly yummy! The service was amazing and I loved how the head chef explained each course in detail. A lot of thought and creativity went into each dish with each beer pairing and you could taste it with each course. Went to The Roasthouse Pub with the family for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. Not much to look at from the outside and the inside has a sports bar atmosphere. What impressed me was the quality of the food that was served. Definitely a notch or two above this type of joint. BANGERS AND MASH with a side of roasted sprouts was my choice, not a huge serving but delicious and satisfying. The sausage was good quality meat. My wife enjoyed a SALMON BLT and especially liked the side of garlic mashed potato's. My son had the CHERRY BUTTER & WASABI GLAZED BLACKENED SALMON. He devoured it with a respectable side salad. The kid's menu is a plus. My grandkids had the Mac & Cheese and the Burger. With twenty offerings of east coast craft brews on the beer list you are sure to find a suitable quaff . I had the Czech Mate by Thick-N-Thin brewed in Hagerstown. Very nice. Our server was a pleasant young lady who provided service with a smile (important to me). My only negative was the music was too loud making conversation a bit of a chore. They say if it's too loud you're too old, well I am. My tastebuds were in heaven. Beautiful presentation, fresh flavors and great value for your money. Pulled up to the restaurant and only one car in the lot. Ok, it was an off-hour (not quite 5pm). Walked inside and there were several people at tables and the bar. The waitress was friendly and made suggestions. I quickly chose the Blackened Salmon Rice Bowl which was divine. Cute place close to downtown Frederick . Food and service were great. The pasta carbonara with shrimp was perfect. It had large seasoned shrimp and a nice light sauce. Loved the garlic smashed potatoes in the side. The jerk chicken tacos were very good but not a very strong jerk flavor. We asked for some hot sauce and they make it in house. It was so good and just the right amount of hot/spiciness. I would buy that bottled if they sold it. The beer board was a little hard for me to read the smaller letters across the room but great variety. The bread pudding for dessert was so yummy too! read more

Randomly came here with some friends last week for lunch for the first time. It's off of a busy road and a little sketchy from the outside but wow - once you get inside you totally forget about it! Our server was amazing - I forget her name but she was wonderful. Super knowledgeable, attentive and fun. The beer list is extensive and the menu is fun and unique. My husband and my friend had margaritas and they were fabulous. Her husband had a beer which he enjoyed as well. Wings were fantastic and all of our entrees were fabulous! Came here after being ignored at a place up in Thurmont. Chose it for it's rating and beer, having never been before. Points right off the bat - I sat @ the bar, and the bartender acknowledge me within a minute or two of me sitting down. I ended up next to a couple who were regulars and helpful with the menu, not to mention nice lunch conversation. I had a pilsner from 1623 Brewing which was quite nice; good enough to have two. For food, I had the crab cake sandwich - since they're billed as a "gastropub", I eschewed my usual safe bets (club sandwich or some such) and went for it. As a Maryland boy my whole life, raised on hard shell crabs, I can recognize a decent crab cake - this one was definitely decent! Perhaps not the best I've ever had, but definitely good, without any "fishy" flavor or aroma found in some cut-rate crab cakes. Afterwards I found out local friends go here a fair amount, so it appears to have been a good choice! read more

How have we missed this place?! WOW. The food was A-mazing. And the staff was super nice and informative. Don't let the name fool you - it is not your regular pub food - it is some fanciness going on - See photos! We started with the charcuterie. Everything on the board was fantastic. I could eat food like this all day. I can't choose which item I liked best bc it was the combo of flavors from the relish, mustard, meat, and cheese that created pure joy. For entrees we ordered the Glazed Ham Brisket, Jalapeno Bacon & Cheddar and House Cured Pork Belly Tacos. I was on a pork belly kick earlier this year and it hit the spot. I'm not a big fan of glazed but I did try the sandwich and it was mighty tasty. The pork tacos though...the mango and crunchy fried pieces for a nice crunch - heavenly. I will say, it could've used a tad more salt but it was also perfect just the way it was. At this point, though stuffed, I really felt we had to try a house dessert. The server recommended the bread pudding special that day. It was better than most bread puddings - not too mushy or too dry. It's not my favorite dessert but we did finish it - that should say something. :-) I highly recommend coming by this place for a nibble of charcuterie or some entrees. You won't be disappointed. We have been back a few times but this last time was disappointing. I ordered the gyro tacos expecting it to be exactly that but on a tortilla. What I got was cold sliced steak instead of gyro meat. It was very chewy and hard to eat. They should not advertise it as gyro if it is actually steak tacos.
