Ordered Bushwaller's through Grubhub and was really impressed. I had the Blue Cheese Crumble Burger, Sriracha Lime Wings, and Jalapeño Poppers, and everything was excellent. The food was great quality, and the flavor profiles across the entire meal were really well done. The burger and wings were especially good. My only small note would be that the cream cheese filling in the jalapeño poppers could use a little more flavor--maybe some bacon pieces mixed in or even a bacon-wrapped version--but that's definitely more personal preference than a complaint. The first time I visited I was a bit underwhelmed. However, after being there a few times it's been better. The staff is friendly. It gives a hole in the wall vibe. This review is really about the Rueben sandwich, which is the only thing I've ever really gotten at Bushwallers. Their other food looks fine if you're into classic Irish pub fare. I would not categorize it as a "gastropub" like the menu describes. The Rueben, though, is simply fantastic and the best we have found in Frederick. Came here because we wanted a hearty meal and my partner got one but I did not. He got the fish and chips. Delicious, crispy, and absolutely what you'd expect. Drinks were good, I got a Guinness and he got a white claw. Corned beef egg rolls were delicious. They've got a winner there. Service was friendly and attentive. They work as a team and do their jobs seamlessly. Kudos to them. My entree however, was a different story. I got the "Dublin Dog". I was expecting a hot dog but what I got was a sloppy mess on a plate. They cut up the sausage (likely because it isn't the same size as the roll they put in on) drown it in sauerkraut and chili and then add some cheese on top. I can count on one hand the number of times I've ordered something so revolting I wouldn't even eat it but this on takes the thumb and I'll be on hand number two after this. It takes a special kind of bravado to put that on a plate and charge $17. Long story short my dinner was a corned beef egg roll, French fries, and two Guinness. We spent the afternoon at the bar! It was a typical Irish bar with lots of good food choices and drink choices. We had the steak quesadilla and cheese bites. Both were very good. The staff was very nice answering all of our questions about the menu. They even let us put our friends name on their naughty list of customers that weren't allowed back. I came In last night with a group of friends the male & female bartender that worked Saturday Night which didn't even introduce themselves just treated us very disrespectful, was snapping their fingers at us, walking away while we spoke, you would think they would have a better attitude with their guest, never will come back to this place. WARNING: Their weekend bar staff are thieves! They will double even triple charge you--if they think they have over served you enough drinks. Even if you pay as you go and tip each time they will find a way to say you didn't pay. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE TO ME OR PEOPLE I HAVE GONE WITH; it doesn't matter if we pay with cash or card. They don't give receipts for cash purchases. Nothing like this has ever happened to me or my friends anywhere else. Even if you provide a receipt they will say you didn't pay. The toilets are disgusting and dangerous. The ambiance is dive pub. The food is mediocre at best. I will probably be reporting this business to the Attorney General of Maryland and the Frederick County Liquor Board. Yesterday was our first, but not last, visit to Bushwallers. We met up with some family in Frederick and chose Bushwallers as our lunch spot, and we're glad we did! It has a friendly and relaxed cozy atmosphere on a cold January day! Our server provided exceptional service and was polite and friendly. Scotch Eggs and Ruben Egg rolls were ordered for appetizers and they were very good. We each ordered different meals. The four meals we ordered were, Shepherd's Pie served in a sourdough bread bowl, Bangers and Mashed, Fish and Chips, and Corned Beef and Cabbage. No one was disappointed with our food! We ordered the Irish Breakfast brunch and tea for each of us. The breakfasts were excellent! We were a little disappointed that they did not initially offer us any Irish or English teas, but the waitress brought some out after we requested them, stating that not many people ask for them. First off, starting in a new area, it is always fun to find places with a wide variety of food but also interesting choices. Bushwallers has that! I tried their Rueben appetizer (basically Rueben egg rolls), which was amazing. The fries were that nice mix of potato skin and quite good! I highly recommend the Rueben Egg Rolls and the Bacon Cheese fries. They are greasy but simply amazing. The chicken pot pie was not as well received ergo only a 4 star rating! I have searched far and wide for an amazing Reuben sandwich in the DC area and can say this one ranks with the best! Stuffed with meat and the pink color indicating it's not another stew sandwich. It's beautiful and a delightful sandwich. The drinks were great! We had the peanut butter cup with the screwball whiskey. My daughter had a Shirley temple with TWO cherries at the bottom and that made her day. Seating was either inside or outside, beautiful day so we close outside. Visited Wednesday evening and it was pretty busy already. The overall atmosphere was a bit like a college bar (which is a little odd I feel like in downtown Frederick), with lots of young/old crowd mixed. The bartender checked our ID super throughly, even let us know one of our IDs is expiring soon and she'll not be able to serve us once it's expired. I think it's a good thing to be safe but I also felt it's a little too much. I guess something happened many times before?! The food was not very impressive, the wing was cold and too hard, maybe too much overcooked or previously frozen. We got chipotle bbq sauce and the sauce was good. They offered Wednesday wing special, which is a wing for a dollar but I won't go back for their wings. Also we got scotch eggs--very disappointing. I'm not sure if this is original scotch eggs because I haven't tried much before, but the meat coating was super stiff and thin, the egg was smelly. The spice bag with chicken was good, it wasn't crispy or crunchy at all, everything was mushy but the flavor was good and i like the concept of the food--it was fun. Overall, I won't go back for food, but I will go back for the bar. They have a great selection of draft beer taps and cool Irish cocktails and drinks. read more

Best place to eat when in a hurry. The atmosphere and furniture were really nice. The food came out quick after sitting down for maybe 4 minutes and ordering thereafter. We ordered two Shrimp Po Boys with drinks. The prices are reasonable with big portions. Everything was fresh and hot. The clientele seemed to be enjoying themselves. Definitely a lot character with this place. The waiter was very courteous and caring. I had some friends join us later on as well and he seemed more than up for the task. Today, and approximately three months ago I used Uber Eats to order one of my absolute favorite dishes: Fish 'n Chips. The reason for the three months in between was the poor quality of food received, instead of hand cut fries they provided cold, limpy regular fries. The fish, instead of golden was dark, dark, dark. The shell was so hard it was difficult to cut through. I ended up throwing it all out. I contacted the store and the person I spoke to said unless I could provide a picture as to my testimony there was nothing they could do. So I swore to not order for a long period of time. Today, another major disappointment. Yes, they delivered the hand cut fries as orderded.....kind of. I assure you dear reader had I an empty can and "squeezed" the fries I could have easily have gotten a half cup of oil from them, not to mention how under cooked they were. And the fish, the fish had pools of grease on the top. I pressed down with the flat side of my fork's tine's and grease came up from the fish. And while HALF the fish was "light brown" the other was basically dark and again difficult to cut. My first bite instead of the delicious blending of fish/coating my taste buds were overwhelmed by....grease. And yes, I again threw everything out. Instead of a picture, I offer Bushwaller's this review. And before Bushwaller's blames Uber Eats on this one, not that they can't be blamed from time to time, I intentionally watched the driver on their journey online. They went from store to front door in just over five minutes. I doubt I will order again in three months, more likely never. Bushwaller's is obviously not interested in quality and/or proper training otherwise their staff on a Wednesday would have caught and corrected this greasy oversight/tromlui. read more

I started with what may be the best steak & cheese egg roll I've ever had. Thinly sliced steak with onions and cheese was just what I needed for an afternoon/evening of drinks. My fish and chips entrée was slightly more battered than I'd like, but perfectly fried and crispy. Loved the atmosphere when I came here with my mom. There was a football game which brought a lot of people out. The service was amazing, our waiter and another waitress were just so attentive and genuinely nice. I noticed they have events like karaoke. This seems like a great local spot to come to and I would definitely come to one of their fun themed nights if I lived closer. The food was good. We had dinner at Bushwaller's in Frederick, Maryland this past Sunday. We went to Frederick to check out the antique shops and decided to do dinner as well. Bushwaller's was a great choice. The food was delicious. I ordered the Reuben (Sunday Special) and the other half got Beef Stew. Our server was very friendly. The food came out of the kitchen fast. Food was served on Fiestaware which I always love. Just to prepare you while I love this place it is LOUD. Other patrons were yelling and screaming at the top of their lungs. It is a tavern so what can you do. The men's restroom was in rough condition. The lock was busted off of the door and the whole restroom reeked from urine. It is an Irish pub though so maybe the restroom condition adds points for authenticity, depending on your perspective? LOL. Anyway I would come back here for the food. This review is for a pickup order during the Covid-19 pandemic. They had a burger deal that included a burger, fries, beer, and a shot of whiskey for $15!!! Customer Service was AWESOME. Since it was my first time ordering food here, I asked lots of questions and the employee taking my order was helpful, patient, and extremely nice. Pickup was completely CONTACTLESS and safe as I could see employees in the restaurant wearing masks and gloves and the employee bringing my food was wearing masks and gloves. My food was placed on my back seat and I was given the option to sign my receipt or not. SAFE!!! Now on to the food! WOW! This was easily one of the best burgers I've ever had.
