Cactus Flats is a Roadhouse, good music, cold beer, amiable folks and a delicious Cheeseburger, the only thing I've had off the menu.

We stumbled upon 10 Tavern around 1pm on a Friday. The bar was fairly empty (not surprising for this time of day) - we had our selection of tall bar tables, 4 top dining tables, or seats at the bar. We grabbed four seats and were greeted immediately by the very friend bartender. The drinks were really solid - I went with the blackberry cider on tap for $8 which was absolutely phenomenal! They had a fall cocktail menu with a variety of specialty drinks for $10ish - my friends tried the cider mule and a pumpkin flavored drink which bold got good reviews. They have hoop tea on tap which I thought was so much fun - I haven't seen a bar with a tea on tap before, very unique. I didn't eat but 2 of my friends ordered - they had the vegan bean burger and the fish sandwich. The fish filet was absolutely huge, was very tempting to order. Both said that the food was solid, not amazing but good. The service from the bartender and other staff members was really great; she shared the history of the area and bar with us. Awesome that a local spot has been redesigned and reshaped to fit a new need for the area - definitely love the story behind the new bar. If you're in the area, 100% worth a stop through - and I highly recommend trying the blackberry cider. What a treat!

Service was really slow, despite not being busy at all. It took a long time just to get our crabs, let alone put our order in. Another server seemed more focused on chatting with another table, so we were often waiting for our food or to get refills. When the crabs finally came out, they were some of the smallest I've ever seen. The hush puppies were stale. It took forever to get more crabs once we ran out. Our birthday guest ordered snow crab legs, but they came out really skinny. The little girl at the next table got much bigger ones. They do have a full bar, beer, desserts, and a private parking lot, but overall, the poor service and inconsistent food quality made it hard to enjoy what should have been a nice birthday dinner. Probably wouldn't come back, especially for the AYCE option.

This place has a spacious dining room that is simply furnished with coastal or bungalow style room, also there is lot of parking spot outside with outdoor patio seating is available. p.s. When I was there, I was waiting for food a little long time, maybe it was because they just opened, anyway it is not a big deal for me, and the waitress service was fine.

The Barn of Harpers Ferry - Great little bar, well-stocked, skilled, fast and friendly

Great music! Excellent whiskies and beers. Ambiance like a really nice barn :-)…read more We wanted a Memorial Day (2025) daytrip from greater-Baltimore. Harper's Ferry is very close! Like an hour (ish) drive. So what's happening in HP? The Barn out Washington St. had a MemorialDay weekend all-day mostly-country music event 2pm to 10:30pm! Very nice. They have a great little bar inside, and sometimes have food from one of the restaurants across the parking lot, or just walk over for takeout, or i think i read that they deliver here. By the way, parking can get a little tight for a bigger event like this one, but we were early enough, maybe 1pm, and we scored a space when someone left. I might as well add that there's several clean restrooms sort of across from the bar. We settled into a huge comfy couch near the back of the hall, behind the seating for roughly 30 at tables and picnic tables. There was also seating for roughly 20 at tables out on a deck. The first solo singer-guitarist, D.C.'s Kate Smiles, had a lovely voice and sweetly original interpretations of rock and pop and country songs that i knew, and a presence that made me say, Hey, Wow, I can relax in this mellow mood with a really nice whiskey from a list that my local bar would envy. By the way, they were out of the local whiskey, Devil's Due, so i had a warming fiery oaky slightly-sweet Elijah Craig bourbon, neat, with a water back. Mmmmm. The second musician, W.V.'s Andrew Copenhaver, moved among soulful blues and country, some classics, some modern. He could put an edge on his voice, and he could hit some deep bass notes, so it was a real pleasure when he gave us Folsom Prison Blues. When you can hit that low note, you have a right to do some Johnny Cash. By now i was into some crisp local beers. That little bar really has everything, including a versatile bartender who made every drink we knew, and we sampled his skills as the third musician, NoVA's Mark Cullinane, took the stage. He had a wide range of country songs, including a moving original that made us feel we were driving in our pickup behind his dad's. He had a great rich tone and great range. Like the second musician, he used some kind of looper to create full layers of harmony. What with all the beverages, we started to fade a little as the music moved into the set by NoVA's seriously-country Rowdy Ace Band around 8pm. They really lit up the hall and the patio and probably a good piece of nearby Harpers Ferry. We eventually moved on to our reservations for dinner across the parking lot at Snallygaster's restaurant. But that's another story. We had a terrific afternoon and evening. The Barn will definitely be one of our go-to spots in this town, and we'll be looking to hear these musicians again!

Omg what delicious food!…read more Uptown Cafe is a small family owned business in a busy plaza with plenty of parking. The seating is a bit limited as it's a small place but I always order to go. But let me tell you this is some of THE BEST Food I've had in a looong time. It hits all the marks: fresh ingredients; perfect spicing, flavors and mixes; healthy options; tastes homemade because it is; and has a variety of food to choose from. I usually get the Caribbean Jerk Chicken bowl which is amazing because its individual components are just as tasty by themselves as they are complemented by each other in the bowl. It has grilled dark meat chicken which is packed with a unique jerk flavoring special to this place; I literally don't like chicken most of the time and especially have a hard time with grilled chicken, but at uptown cafe I would eat that chicken for every meal by itself that's how much flavor it has! Then it is complemented by house made pico de gallo (I always get extra) always fresh, seasoned white rice, corn, shredded cheese, grilled onions (I don't get these as I'm not a huge onion fan), lettuce, and homemade chipotle sauce that is particular to Uptown cafe (I haven't tried another like it) and so good it's addicting! To top it off they always have a soup of the day which is made from scratch. My favorite so far has been the vegetable dumpling soup which included carrots, scallions, onions and a tasty broth. They also have had tomato bisque, chicken noodle, chicken pho, and spicy chicken tortilla. They offer a range of other food items like salmon poke and beef bulgogi bowls, wraps, and breakfast burritos which I hope to try soon. They also have a huge variety of unique drinks and bakery items that change day to day. The portions are huge and definitely filling. I usually can't even finish my bowl by myself, so the value for the quality and quantity of food is excellent. The service is amazing as it's run by the sweetest owners who are always very kind and accommodating and truly care about you and your order. They always make my day with their smiles. TLDR: A small cafe with plenty of delicious food options and owners who make your day and truly care. Definitely try their Caribbean jerk chicken bowl and their homemade soups! I have been so obsessed with this place since I first went and go there at least once a week now. Their food is so good I literally crave it all the time!! Go, you won't regret it!
