Good onion rings and portions. Only two draft choices (both IPAs). Plenty of TV screens. Friendly and accommodating staff.

A great place that's your average hole in the wall bar. Bathrooms that don't really lock and a patio. My kinda bar :)

This place looked like an unfinished basement and had a musty smell. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!

You can order food from Avery's upstairs (blue cheese burger was amazing), small clientele, not even remotely pretentious.

We went to this awesome down-to-earth brewery on a whim during the week. This end of Market Street…read morein Frederick feels like a neighborhood in a European city in some ways. We were greeted immediately when we walked in and you could tell many of the folks there were regulars - like a modern Cheers vibe. My personal favorite among the beers was the En Fleur and we really liked the Penny Pincher and the Irish Stout they had. I even tried my first breakfast stout there (though I probably will never have beer for breakfast in my wiser years)! It is in the same space as a burger spot, which I think is really smart. We will definitely be back!

OMG; OMB is so freaking good!…read more Frederick has a wealth of local brewers, and Olde Mother is consistently at the top of the heap. The taproom at OMB has a warm, Cheers-like vibe (they don't know my name, but I'm working on it!). Their taps feature a rotating selection of light, sour/fruity, hoppy, dark/malty, and non-alcoholic beers. I'm a fan of their various Kolsches, and their stouts are "interesting" (I enjoyed their Morning Ritual Golden Breakfast Stout this week: looks like a lager, with a maple syrup taste that was really refreshing. Guinness it wasn't!). They also offer cocktails and wines for those poor people that can't appreciate a well-crafted, well-poured brews (pagans!). Pours are generous, prices are reasonable, value is great. They even have a selection of board games so you can while away a cold (or hot) evening by yourself or with friends. But wait: there's more... OMB shares space with Backslash Burgers (which was recently renamed from "50/50 Burgers" for what sounds like trademark reasons. Yelp hasn't caught the name change yet. You'll have to look them up under the old name for my (5 star, baby!) review. TLDR: amazing 50% beef/50% bacon smashburgers cooked to order with your choice of toppings, or you can choose from several very interesting regular offers. (If you like heat, try the "I Can't Feel My Face" burger. I dare you...). Sandwiches can be ordered as single or double patties, and can be made with chicken. Large groups can be accommodated, and there are regular events (bands, Night Markets, even a "Paint Your Pet" night are on this month's schedule) to help bring in thirsty and hungry hordes. Trivia Night is every Thursday, and it can get raucous. OMB shares a parking lot across the street with Gravel & Grind bike and coffee shop. It's not easily handicap accessible, with a few steps separating OMB and BB, and since both are self-service that could be a problem, but it's a great place to make helpful friends, no? The hours are also a little quirky for a pub (Monday-Saturday 11AM-10PM, Sunday 11AM-7PM). So, if you find your way to Frederick (and you should!), stop in for a great brew and burger. We ordered nachos and a pretzel for apps. Both were great! The nachos looked standard, but the cheese on them made it fantastic. The pretzel was also so good we had to order a second. Our actual food was also good. My Mediterranean bowl was just ok, but everyone else liked their meals. I would definitely go back. Prices were reasonable and just a cool place to hang out in downtown Frederick.

This spot has a really cool, old-school pub vibe that immediately sets the tone when you walk in…read more The rustic feel gives it a lot of character, but it still feels lively and welcoming rather than dated. It's the kind of place you can settle into and enjoy a relaxed meal. The staff definitely added to the experience--they were friendly, attentive, and made sure we were taken care of throughout the meal without being overbearing. As for the food, it was a bit of a mixed bag but still enjoyable overall. The boneless wings were just okay--nothing particularly memorable--but the pretzel with beer cheese was a standout. Warm, soft, and paired perfectly with a rich, flavorful cheese sauce, it's definitely something I'd go back for. For mains, we ordered the Reuben and the skirt steak. The Reuben was solid and satisfying, but the steak initially came out a little cold. That said, the manager handled it exactly how you'd hope--quickly addressing the issue and bringing out a fresh, properly prepared steak, which made a big difference and really showed their commitment to good service. Overall, it's a great place with a unique atmosphere, strong service, and some standout menu items. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you're in the mood for a laid-back pub experience with a bit of character.
