The appetizer came out swinging with the Steak and Cheese Eggrolls -- perfectly crispy, packed with flavorful filling, and paired with queso that had just the right kick. Then came the wood-grilled Smashed Smoker Burger with Sarah's smoky aioli. Whoever Sarah is... can she please come cook in my kitchen? I'd put that aioli on everything. For the second time my colleagues and I have gone to Oscar's and been refused restaurant seating. This was at 4 in the afternoon and the restaurant was mostly empty. Despite persistent insistence, we were forced to sit in the bar section and led to the very back next to the bathrooms and the kitchen and seated in high rise chairs at tiny mismatched tables shoved together in haste. This was our end of year get together and we are teachers. I have traveled all over the world and never been treated with such a lack of hospitality. This is the second time that we have been standing at the front and having to engage in an argument just to sit at a table. Outrageous! My evening was ruined. read more

Came here for their $8 burgers on a monday night. And they were slammed. I felt like we got put into a section where the server forgot about us and we had to rely on the manager to get our sliverware and water. We finally got the waiter and ordered the burgers. Representing 2024 in alphabet series, like 2023, O is for Oscar's. Same company I went to in Pasadena in March 2023, I went again in Frederick in January 2024. I was in a Meetup group based in Anne Arundel County, the same group I went with to the Oscar's in Pasadena, who made a special trip out to Spinner's Arcade, which was across the street from this Oscar's. Spinners closed and was moving to the west side of Frederick and haven't been back. The 3 times at Spinners were March 2023, July 2023, & January 2024. In March, the group ordered Papa John's, and we ate in there. July was a Chinese restaurant. In January 2024, there were some who did Papa John's again. I may have partook in a slice of pizza or cheese bread, but I was hungry later. I ended up going on my own walking across the street to Oscar's. I ordered wings. Wings took a little bit of time, but I took with me to go back to Spinners. Although service was a bit slow, they were nice, and wings were solid here. read more

Had their burger of the day special however I can't remember what it was called but nonetheless it was very delicious. Cooked the way I wanted it, medium rare with the pink center. What's not to love?! My husband describes this place as similar to BJ's. I tend to agree, except I feel like the food has more flavor at Oscar's! There is something for everyone, with a great selection of items in each food category (i.e. sandwiches, burgers, apps, salads, pizza, entrees, etc). We (family of 4) have come in about 4 times now. The food has remained consistently good and the servers are always friendly and on top of it. The environment is very casual dining, but clean, comfortable, and plenty of space. On our last visit, here's what we ordered: - burger of the week: mushroom Swiss burger with bacon. My son ordered this and LOVED it. He let me try a bite and it was delicious! I love mushrooms though, so could be biased. We've tried other burgers of the week here and they're ALWAYS good. - chicken Chesapeake: my husband ordered this and found it very satisfying. I have ordered this here before and thought the chicken was very tender and juicy, but I remember the sauce being a little too salty, but edible. - meatball sub: I've never ordered this at a restaurant and decided to switch it up a bit! This was actually very good. The meatballs are homemade and cooked perfectly for a sub. The cheese ration was not overpowering but just right. The meatballs were nicely seasoned and cooked that they were "soft enough" to kind of smash a little when you bit into the sub, instead of sliding around. I was pleasantly surprised. - kids cheese pizza: my daughter enjoyed this and almost ate the whole thing! What more can you expect from a cheese pizza? She normally eats like a bird unless she REALLY likes something, so that should tell you something. Overall, Oscar's is a solid dining AND drinking option. We ALWAYS have a great experience here. We've been so many times, I lost count. The food never disappoints, and I've eaten probably half the menu! Service is great too. Also, the brunch on Sundays is SO good. Especially the avocado toast. Not to be that girl, but... it's the best avocado toast I've ever had. And I mean that. I don't know exactly what they put on it to make it taste so good, but I NEED to know lol Food I've eaten: The grilled steak salad, always delicious! The avocado toast, amazing. We love Oscar's. The service is wonderful. The menu is varied and we have tried many items and very had anything we didn't love. During our most recent visit I had cram of cream soup which had a nice sized scoop and crabmeat on top. I got the special of the day which was wings. The wings we plentiful and tasty. Found this spot on Yelp as a central meeting place. It had mostly good reviews, a varied menu, lots of beer and ample parking. All of the criteria I was looking for was satisfied. Since I am not familiar with this part of town, I jumped down on Google maps and looked around. The restaurant is between a tattoo shop and The Salvation Army and there is a large parking lot. They sat us in the back where there are two large tables that seat eight. The service was friendly and fast and the food was great. All of us ordered something different. My only complaint would be too much salad dressing on the ceaser salad. Otherwise, the food was good and they serve large portions. The fried pickle appetizer was very good. Oh and the beer! There is something for everyone, IPA, cider, kolsh, stout and ale. Dark, light, sweet or sour they have beer for everyone.... even people that don't like beer. It seems we hit Oscar's up for birthday's and special events. Sunday night brought us here for a birthday. We arrive around 5 PM and they were not to busy and were quickly seated. We tried the Cheese Steak eggrolls and we devoured them. I have their special clam chowder and do not pass it up. My son had the French onion and it dissappeard he ate it so fast. My wife and I both had the grouper sandwich grilled and it was delicious. I believe their claim to fame is everything is fresh and nothing is ever frozen and you can tell. Although I did not get it this time, try their Reubin, it is delicious. Some my find this place hard to find because its in a little strip shopping center but pull in park in the middle and you will see it. There are some dishes that are good, with the Reuben being one and ribs another. Used to come all the time but it's just not the same post Covid. Did take out a lot, but is again just not what it could be. Fish & Chips tastes fine but portions are like the size of 6 frozen fish sticks. Wings were tough and dry....had the buffalo seasoning. The Cole slaw is simply disgusting. Tasted rancid and warm. Flavor on that was always horrible. Easy to make better but someone is stuck on a home recipe they were never told tastes seriously bad...and I am a coleslaw junkie. Come on guys...do a poll...surely you will find out it is the worst out there anywhere in town. It didn't help they didn't put a lid on the ranch with the wings takeout so by the time it got home it was a sloppy mess. Didn't even finish three wings. Just not a fan any more and have serious questions about sanitation when the Cole slaw is always warm, even when dining in. Sloppy ranch soaked food is the end for us. I would add that the drinks are abhorrently expensive. That's another reason we stopped dining in. Was a fan, am the opposite now. Attention to detail as always, the ranch was brought with my meal. My brother got the jambalaya, only negative was he said it could have used more sausage. But taste overall was divine. My mom got the poke bowl. And basically had half leftover to eat later in the day. Two thumbs up from her as well! All in all Oscars is a legit place to get awesome food in a cool atmosphere. My family and I did a day trip to Fredrick and of course we knew we had to try a good local eatery. We walked past a couple of crowded spots in the downtown area but it was drizzling and I didn't think my kids would do well with a long wait. First time eating from Oscar's and I was quite satisfied with my meal. I ordered through GrubHub coz you know, covid. I don't even know where this place is located but I was craving American food and saw they were a GH perks member. So I got French onion soup and the roast beef with au jus and my friend got the Cajun burger. We both LOVED our sandwiches. My soup was so yummy and rich. The roast beef was perfectly juicy. See picture. I was also going to take a pic of my friend's burger but he ate it so fast I wasn't able to get a pic before he tore into that thing. All in all a really good meal.
