Great food went back twice. Would recoup anyone. Took my parents hers and they loved it!

We love this place for burgers and crab dip. The only disappointment during our visit last night was that the onion rings were nothing to rave about. They were cold and flavorless. However I definitely recommend getting the burgers and the regular fries. The Elderburger is my favorite choice and cooked to perfection. We also ordered the crab dip, as an appetizer and it's very yummy. In the past, I've ordered the shrimp and bacon sandwich before which is another one of my favorite dishes. Oscars Ale House has a nice selection of beers, which my husband loves and obviously it's in the name. During COVID, the servers are definitely wearing masks, the tables are 6 feet apart, and there are a few tables outdoors for the outdoor dining option. I've been here several times. I usually get the wings. But my friend got jambalaya so I decided to give that a try. That was the best I ever had in my life. I'll be back for that. The service is always excellent. The ambiance is great. There's nothing that I can think of that's a negative thing. All good. Give them a try and see for yourself. read more

This is a really cool spot. The draft list is insane (tons of highly rated IPA's), the poke bowl was huge and pretty good, and the bartender was very nice and liked to talk a lot so no one was ever really alone. I plan on coming back to check out more of their food and beers. read more

We stopped in about 5:00p on Memorial Day. We were seated and greeted promptly, the place was not too busy. Sam our server was AWESOME! She was very personable and took great care of us. Came here with the family after an outing in downtown Frederick. Pros -Family friendly! -Nice restaurant in a shopping center away from the busy downtown restaurants -Happy hour all day on Sundays for football! -Great selections on the kids menu. Both kids were happy with the variety and option for fries or applesauce -Various choices for beers, wines, and cocktails -Service was quick, efficient, and friendly -Husband order the NY strip, it did not disappoint as he says -I was stuck between the Turkey Avocado club and the Reuben. I went for the Rueben. Bread was perfectly toasted with slight crunch, it wasn't overly Rye tasting. Just such a perfect combination and ratio of sauerkraut and corned beef. I go knowing I'll get a juicy burger, medium rare the way I like it, a salad or one of their many other entree choices -- the iced tea is good and count on any dessert you pick to be extra good since they are made fresh on site obviously with care. I liked the cheesecake. It's a casual, well-known place where the service is good. I haven't had to wait to be seated ever (for lunch) even though they get in a good-sized crowd. Good beer and great service. From the time that we walked in for happy hour, we were greeted and were quickly provided menus while being told that it was happy hour and all drinks were $1.50 off and appetizers were discounted as well. The manager at the time was behind the bar and I asked about local Frederick craft beer on tap. There were plenty of choices and the manager did offer his suggestions. I liked them but I am definitely a stout or porter drinker. We ordered the old bay pickles and they were absolutely delicious. We live a block from Oscar's and we go at least a couple times a month. Oscar's is our go-to place to eat and drink. Oscar's has a casual, comfortable vibe. One side is a slightly more formal table service. The other side has table service too, but it's more like a tavern with a bar. Oscar's has one of the best craft beer lists in Frederick. 66 beers today. The list contains a nice selection of beers from local breweries as well as more popular beers. They update their Untappd page frequently and you can subscribe for updates of their beer list in the app. The bartenders know the beers and can offer good suggestions. I am a fish & chips enthusiast. Every brewery, pub, restaurant, ... if they have fish & chips, I get it. Oscar's has the best fish & chips I've had. White batter-fried cod that's perfectly done and breaks up into bite size pieces. Get an extra tarter. I like the Burger Of The Week and frequently indulge to get something different. Was able to secure 6 seats during dinner hour without a wait on a Thursday evening!! Service was a little slow but nothing extreme for a larger party. Their sister location in Eldersburg is my only comparison. Food was good but my favorite dish in Eldersburg is the spicy calamari so I asked for a BOWL of the sauce and this is what I was given. This is NOT a bowl!! Calmari had barely (if any) of the yummy sauce! Clam Chowder had a brown sauce which is unique but it was still good. Love that they serve REAL fries!! Who doesn't like a "Wood-Fired" Grill? raise your hand...see, hardly no one! This was different and daring... BARBECUE CHICKEN PIZZA Applewood smoked bacon, chicken, red onions, mozzarella, provolone and cheddar cheese, over BBQ sauce and topped with cilantro. Our party of four had dinner at Oscar's in Frederick on Labor Day, and it was a wonderful experience. Our server was very friendly and checked back several times to be sure we liked our drinks and our meals. She picked up our dishes as we each finished to give us more room. I had a fried chicken salad which was a good portion and I really liked it. Another person had the salmon sandwich that he loved. Another person said the black bean burger was the best she's had. Since we came on a Monday, Burger Night, our fourth friend enjoyed the Elderburger. We have enjoyed Oscars in Frederick, Marriottsville, and Eldersburg. Each time, the servers have been excellent, and the greeters have been accommodating. read more

We went here while waiting for our candles that we made at Young Living Candle company to be ready. Even though it was a really bisy, and it was a Saturday night--they seated us right away! There were plenty of choices, and we loved the fried pickle appetizer. (I've never had fried pickles before and thought I wouldn't like them, but I think Oscar's did a great job with that! The server was extremely friendly and nice. The only thing that I would say that gave room for improvement was that I substituted Cole slaw for fries, but when the order came out--they brought fries. An honest mistake, and I just ate the fries, because we were in a rush to pick up our candles next door. All in all, a great experience, and I can see why Oscar's is so popular!! read more

This place is great!! We came on a Friday night - it was busy, but we had a table in 10 minutes. I had their special gin cocktail and their Hawaiian poke bowl with shrimp tempura. It was amazing. A lot of flavor, really fresh. Our waitress was fast and attentive as well. We also had their crab dip as an appetizer and that was great too. I can't wait to come back here! We've been repeat diners at Oscar's throughout the past summer-we go back for their great beer selection, good food & most importantly: excellent mask-wearing servers. However last night our server was the only mask-less employee we saw all evening. (!) Her service was slow and poorly timed. Strangely she made some vague, judgmental comments about other diners at our table. We regret not refusing maskless service and will not accept it next visit. When they first opened o was really excited. Close to the office and great food. That has somehow not been the case recently.

My first visit was a delicious one! I went to celebrate a birthday and ordered a tropical sangria punch, great choice for this extremely hot day! I was immediately intrigued with the grilled shrimp and bacon club sandwich. I didn't expect the shrimp to be such a good size and so filling. I was already full after half of the sandwich but i managed to finish it. It was a great order and i would most definitely try it again. read more

The egg rolls were very good and had a nice lil kick to em. I ordered an IPA and margarita as well. Both good and not watered down. Oscar's is a taproom first and a restaurant second. Or maybe it's a restaurant first and a taproom second. EIther way, they're both very, very good. I get so confused... When Oscar's opened, you could get a table in the dining room without any wait. Now, as word of the restaurant's deliciousness spread, the wait can be pretty long any day of the week. (Pro tip: arrive by 5:15, grab a countertop table in the bar area, order a brew (or better, a few), and watch the rookies wait in the small lobby). What to drink: beer. Their on-tap list changes daily (hourly if a brew is popular). Lots of variety: creamy dark stout, very interesting ciders, and everything in between. Ask for a shot-glass sized sample if you see something unfamiliar. I've never had a problem finding a beer I liked! What to eat: burgers. Oscar's has the best burgers in town, hands down (sorry Five Guys, but you've been relegated!). A large portion of really fresh beef, cooked to order (rare is my fav), loaded onto a brioche-like bun, dressed as you like it. Add a cheese; add onions; add andouille sausage or bacon; run it through the grass (lettuce and tomato, if you please) - then sit and wait for that perfect first bite. With crispy fries (or better yet, onion rings - yum). Niiiiiiiiiice. You can also get a decent meatloaf and other entrees, but somehow I always gravitate back to the burgers. Especially on Monday, a.k.a "5 Dollar Burger Night". Same food but even more value; definitely a night to arrive early. I'm torn by this review. I'd really like to tell everybody to stay away so I never have to wait when I show up. But I'm not generally greedy, so: 4 stars it is! What would elevate my rating would be two things: (1) provide some more seating in the "while you wait" area so that some of us older folks can better handle the wait, and (2) open up the old pool room in the back of the bar - at least for private parties (holiday season is around the corner, no?). Regardless, I will be a loyal customer for as long as both Oscar's and I share space on Mother Earth. read more

I came here on 7/8/23 and got a salad with chicken added. I noticed the chicken was cold, but I figured maybe they just keep it that way to go on the salad. Usually when I get chicken on a salad, it is still served warm but I disregarded the thought in my hunger lol. Fast forward and three hours later I was in the bathroom with severe IBS to put it nicely. This place is a health hazard. read more
