The jambalaya has a puddle of oil at the bottom and I was disappointed at how little meat was included for the price. The sauce wasn't creamy. Overall not my favorite and I expected much more. Our party of four had dinner at Oscar's in Frederick on Labor Day, and it was a wonderful experience. Our server was very friendly and checked back several times to be sure we liked our drinks and our meals. She picked up our dishes as we each finished to give us more room. I had a fried chicken salad which was a good portion and I really liked it. Another person had the salmon sandwich that he loved. Another person said the black bean burger was the best she's had. Since we came on a Monday, Burger Night, our fourth friend enjoyed the Elderburger. We have enjoyed Oscars in Frederick, Marriottsville, and Eldersburg. Oscar's is a taproom first and a restaurant second. Or maybe it's a restaurant first and a taproom second. EIther way, they're both very, very good. I get so confused... When Oscar's opened, you could get a table in the dining room without any wait. Now, as word of the restaurant's deliciousness spread, the wait can be pretty long any day of the week. (Pro tip: arrive by 5:15, grab a countertop table in the bar area, order a brew (or better, a few), and watch the rookies wait in the small lobby). What to drink: beer. Their on-tap list changes daily (hourly if a brew is popular). Lots of variety: creamy dark stout, very interesting ciders, and everything in between. Ask for a shot-glass sized sample if you see something unfamiliar. I've never had a problem finding a beer I liked! What to eat: burgers. Oscar's has the best burgers in town, hands down (sorry Five Guys, but you've been relegated!). A large portion of really fresh beef, cooked to order (rare is my fav), loaded onto a brioche-like bun, dressed as you like it. Add a cheese; add onions; add andouille sausage or bacon; run it through the grass (lettuce and tomato, if you please) - then sit and wait for that perfect first bite. With crispy fries (or better yet, onion rings - yum). Niiiiiiiiiice. You can also get a decent meatloaf and other entrees, but somehow I always gravitate back to the burgers. Especially on Monday, a.k.a "5 Dollar Burger Night". Same food but even more value; definitely a night to arrive early. I'm torn by this review. I'd really like to tell everybody to stay away so I never have to wait when I show up. But I'm not generally greedy, so: 4 stars it is! What would elevate my rating would be two things: (1) provide some more seating in the "while you wait" area so that some of us older folks can better handle the wait, and (2) open up the old pool room in the back of the bar - at least for private parties (holiday season is around the corner, no?). I came here on 7/8/23 and got a salad with chicken added. I noticed the chicken was cold, but I figured maybe they just keep it that way to go on the salad. Usually when I get chicken on a salad, it is still served warm but I disregarded the thought in my hunger lol. My friends and I were attending a candle making class a couple of doors down and needed to kill sometime in between. The owners of the candle shop overheard us talking about Oscar's Ale House and convinced us to go. It was rather quite on a Sunday afternoon but we weren't complaining. We got a couple drinks to start off with. Between my friends and I, we ordered the southwest egg rolls, cheeseburger egg rolls, BBQ burger and tuna poke bowl. Our food and drinks came out quick! The perfect laidback neighborhood spot. The servers and bartenders are great, always friendly and accommodating. They bring a different twist to their menu with the wood-fired grill. Not every menu item is perfect but overall it's good enough that I won't nitpick. Beer selection is great but atmosphere is not snobby. Prices are always reasonable across the board, but they have great specials like cheap wings on Wednesday. This was one of my wife's favorite restaurants pre Covid. Tonight wasn't really ok though. A take out order running more than half an hour late, coupled with my wife's meal being unpleasant was pretty bad. We placed an online order. When I showed up at the designated time, I was told that isomething was wrong, the kitchen was backed up, and t would be another 10-15 minutes, and they asked me to wait in my car. They never called. Half an hour later I went inside to check. Someone went to look for the food. They were gone for 10 minutes, and handed me the food apologizing for being late, but not explaining. We came here a few years ago and swore we would never be back. Tonight this place was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Every single thing including the doggone soda came out and was great. The homemade hummus is crazy to say the least. We all ate off of each others plates. We had wings, hummus, Tex mex egg rolls, salmon, mashed potatoes, salmon sandwich and blackened chicken sandwich. Located in a shopping center in frederick. Such an awesome place to eat and catch up with friends. I didn't know there was anything here like that. They have many I and icons for beers, food is great! I had the crab cake sandwich and was very pleased with it. The crab cake was moist and flavorful. I absolutely loved everything we ate. The nachos with chicken were amazing. And the buffalo wings were just fine. What we would expect for the wings of a buffalo. I had the fish and chips. They were good, but I wish I had had one of the steak sandwiches. My wife had a French dip like sandwich roast beef or something but it came with OSU and it was amazing. My friend had a steak sandwich with peppers and it was even more amazing. Oh yeah. I almost forgot I could've eaten 20 balls of their French onion soup. It was the quintessential French onion soup! I have ordered delivery from Oscar's West , The food is good but you don't get what you asked for at times. You would think that saltine crackers would be automatic with chili. Although I keep requesting it, in the last three orders , I have gotten hard nacho chips, nothing the other two times. No utensils. I sent them an e-mail on their web site on April 24, 2022, and got an e-mail saying someone would get back to me as earliest as possible. That was 21 days ago, no response. Above and beyond! My wife, myself and 2 friends visited Oscar's Alehouse west on a recent visit to Frederick. We were all impressed on the wide selections of beer they had on offer, including a flight of dark beers (my favorite). We were seated quickly and were promptly each enjoying our beverage of choice. We all made our choices from the wide ranging menu and the food was quickly delivered to our table by our personable waitress. Everything was well prepared and delicious. we left satisfied after we paid our reasonable check. Once we were on our way home Annapolis (about 1.5 hours away) my wife discovered that she had lost her reusable stainless steel water bottle. We figured we had left it at Oscar's Alehouse West so I emailed them when we got home and I quickly was confirmed by Mario that it was there and they would hang on to it until we could return to pick it up. We love visiting Frederick and usually go every couple of months. We have no immediate plans of returning so I asked if I could Venmo postage to have the water bottle shipped back to us. I was contacted by Samantha (another manager at Oscars) who said that the General manager from the new Oscar's Alehouse East (in nearby Pasadena) made regular trips between the 2 stores and she would send it over to our side of town with him the next time he made the trip. This was outstanding news! This is not a super expensive water bottle, but it was a gift from my niece. It features the logo of her school and has sentimental value. We truly appreciate the time and effort made by the staff to help us get our bottle back. They've gone above and beyond expectations. BRAVO! read more

Had my first experience with Oscar's Ale House. I thought the food was generally okay. As an appetizer, we got the Crab Dip. The dip was pretty good. However, the dip comes in a ridiculously small serving dish with an exorbitant amount of chips and bread. That is a horrible ratio. For the price, I would suggest increasing the dip size. Other wise, lower the price and reduce the amount of chips and bread. For our meals, I got the baby back ribs and my other half got the shrimp club. The ribs were flavorful and tender to the point of falling off the bone. The shrimp club was disappointing. The sandwich had a lot more of accompaniments such as lettuce and tomato than the shrimp. The ratios were off which made the sandwich bland and boring. The sandwich itself was pretty dry; needed more slide. I would definitely visit again to try other items. read more

This restaurant is new to Fredrick,MD. This is their second location, their first is in Eldersburg,MD. I was invited to a Beer Dinner here Sponsored by Union Craft Brewing Co. last night. Upon arrival the place was packed, but they had a special section set up in the back for the Beer Dinner Guests. Our Waiter Steve was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the Beers that were paired with each dinner course. Justin the MC was very hospitable and entertaining. I'm not a fan of Beer but they gave you several varieties of Beer, each one coming out with our courses. Some of the Beers I tasted did pair pretty well with the meals. Matt the Beer Representative from Union Craft Brewing Co. gave us History on how the Company got started and how the beers are Brewed. He also came by each table to chat with us. G.H. the Chef stopped by the tables to thanks us for coming out, he was praised for the phenomenal job he did putting the Menu together for the Beer Dinner and pairing each Beer with the Courses.Everything on the Menu was absolutely great, my tastebuds had a party, Lol. Especially the Main Entree which was Asian Chili marinated Hanger Steak which was marinated for two days. So flavorful and melted in your mouth, with Purple Mash Potatoes and Asparagus. The Fried Oysters with Fire Roasted Corn Salsa was memorable and delicious, I'm still craving it! And the Carmel Cheesecake drizzled in Chocolate Sauce was heavenly. We also got to take home a free drinking glass from Union Craft Brewery. I'm looking forward to coming to the next Beer Dinner. read more

First time at Oscar's was last Friday (July 1st) before the extended weekend. I was bummed because I had planned to eat elsewhere and other's backed out. So, walked in to friendly greeting. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the restaurant. (Be sure to really read the bathroom signs or you'll wind up in a broom closet.) Carli took our order and everything came out EXACTLY how I ordered it. Not only did Carli come check on us, Sam stopped by as well. Two of the most friendly people I have met.
