May very well be the best fine dining in Fredrick. I have zero complaints about the experience. I had the red wine flight and after the flight I asked for one of the wines for a "2nd" glass... Alas! They did not have enough! ...So the staff did what I would do: They offered me a much pricier wine at the same cost. This is doing your customer right. Also, we had a dozen oysters and when we finished we realized we were one short! ha ha! Well... we showed the waiter the shells and he said: Would you like the 12th oyster or for us to comp the selection. We got the 12th oyster... Just offering to comp us was nice. However, all that aside: The food is EXCELLENT, same with the wine and the service...!

We ordered a (French press) coffee and we split the Burrata Toast to start. And because we weren't in the mood for "breakfast" food we both ordered the Wagyu Burger. The first French press coffee we received was full of grounds so we had to send it back for another one once we were able to get assistance (our server was nowhere to be found). My friend ordered her burger with a salad but it came with fries but they fixed it pretty quickly. The food was really good. The service was okay.

The Red Horse - After dinner mints, jolly ranchers. Not recommended for a high dollar upper class fancy restaurant, especially for elderly.

I was nostalgic for the snails but they lacked the parsley and some seasoning but they were perfectly presented and wicked hot with the toast pieces I adore. 8/10? Oysters were fat and fresh but almost seemed like one shell was missing it's oyster, but they were delicious. Husband had a Chocolate Old Fashioned that was astonishing! For dinner he did the Ribeye/Medium, with Asparagus & Baked Potato but the steak was very much Medium Rare but it was tasty and huge so no complaints from us. I had the Imperial Stuffed Shrimp, also with Asparagus and a Baked Potato. HUGE lump crab meat on the shrimp and very flavorful. We BOTH noted how delicious the charred Asparagus were, a hint of honey maybe that made them amazing, and they were large yet tender! Dessert: A delicious Crème Brûlée! Solid portion. I loved the nostalgia from the moment we walked in: old wood, high beamed ceilings, two fireplaces, some solid 80's music playing, so fun. Can't wait to come back!

The place is not the same, they visited recently this year only because I bought dad a gift certificate. They said their visit was horrible and will never go back. I also bought my husband a gift certificate for Father's Day which we put off going. Today my husband called and made reservations excited about a nice filet as his belated Father's Day meal. I was going to get chicken Chesapeake as I do not eat red meat. We arrive at the restaurant, I am seated as my husband is parking. I immediately noticed the completely wrinkled tablecloth with black permanent marker marks within, for a fancy high dollar well-known restaurant they should iron their table cloths and be sure they are clean. The lights so dim we could not read the menu. We wait about 15 minutes to order a drink as there were only five tables at this point. We review the limited New Years Eve special and learn this was the only menu which has no chicken options for dinner, only red meat options and one fish as I sit there and disappointment at a fancy expensive restaurant now not having an option for dinner. My husband says he should've been told when he called to make reservations that it was a limited menu. We have not eaten there since we got married 28 years ago we looked at the menu online ready to order having no clue it was limited and not serving what we wanted. We order a crab dip as a appetizer, my husband asks for a refill when the appetizer comes out and we place our dinner order. We ask what surf and turf is my husband was thinking it was a steak with a side shrimp as it was explained by the waitress. I had to interrupt and explain it is a pasta dinner with steak on top thank goodness I intervened or he would've been disappointed with his meal. He ordered prime rib. I ended up with a side salad because I do not eat red meat and there was not an entree option for me. Whoever come up with this menu was obviously not thinking many do not eat red meat. Many people look for chicken or chicken tenders which again there was no option. Our appetizer comes out and the crab dip had no "lump" crab meat as advertised. There was lots of red within such as imitation crab meat, possibly claw meat, another disappointment of advertisement, lump crab meat, and there is nothing in there as far as lump crab meat. The crackers that were given with the dip were stale. There was absolutely no crunch to them. We get through our entire appetizer my husband still had no drink. The waitress brings out bread, sets it on the table and says "here is bread and butter" and walks away. I looked at my husband and said bread and what there's no butter. She finally comes back out with my husband drink, and I looked at her and said you mentioned bread and butter. Where's the butter she gave me an odd look and said oh, and walked away. She comes back with the butter at this time, the bread is cold. Butter does not melt well in cold bread. Our meals then come out my husband's prime rib was a little on the cold side, very thin and very fatty. I had a small container of salad dressing, which I had to ask for a second because it was only enough for half of my salad. We were also ordering an orange crush drinks and they were garnishing grapefruits on top instead of oranges.Who puts a grapefruit on a orange crush. Not to mention the male waiter places the customers checks down the back of his pants half down the butt crack then this is placed on one's table who is eating. I really can't see how you are still in business as a higher end fancy restaurant. Never again will we be visiting nor recommend.

Everyone was friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm. The restaurant itself feels like an old house converted into a cozy dining space, giving it a relaxed, family-dinner vibe that's hard to find these days. The food? Incredible. They had fried calamari on the menu, but we asked if they could grill it instead--and they happily did. It came out perfectly tender and delicious. The linguini with white clam sauce tasted exactly like something an Italian grandma would make--simple, comforting, and deeply authentic. And the Veal Massi with fresh mozzarella? Absolutely out of this world. Rich, flavorful, and unforgettable. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. Highly recommend this gem in Frederick!

We took a table in the rear enclosed patio area near the bar. To start we ordered the meatball sliders. Two come with an order and they were good. I liked the toasted slider rolls, the tangy sauce and the spiciness of the meatball. Recommend cutting it in half to eat it without it flying out of the roll. Overall a good start. I ordered the gnocchi primavera which really wasn't in the traditional sense - as the vegetables were puréed together into an orange sauce. Had a good flavor and was served with burrata. Starters and entrees came out very close to each other which wasn't a bad thing. We also added a margherita pizza to share which looked weird - but tasted great. Nice crisp to the crust and thin. I usually think of a doughier crust with this kind of pizza but still good. Dessert was the fudge cake - rich in flavor, adding a coffee. Overall - would have loved to sit inside and get that experience but still good considering we didn't have a reservation. Our waiter - younger guy out back we good, though at times we leaned on the other bartender to help get refills.

Our server was excellent--friendly, organized, and very mindful of our need to finish in time for the show. She handled separate checks, kept drinks filled, and made sure everything ran smoothly. The food was the highlight. We ordered full brunch meals, and everyone enjoyed their dishes. The house-made chorizo, flavorful sauces, and Eggs Benedict (with the option of a fresh biscuit instead of an English muffin) were especially good. Overall, we had a great experience. We found this restaurant after using Google Gemini…read moreto find "Authentic German Food" when we arrived in the parking lot, we saw the chefs sitting outside taking a breather next to where we'd parked, but thought nothing of it at first. It was our first year of dating anniversary but we failed to notice when looking the place up that they closed at 7:30pm. We walked in at about 7:40pm and the bartender regretfully informed us that they had just closed. We accepted the situation for the error it was on our part and opted to go elsewhere. So barely 3 minutes after walking up to the entrance, we were heading back to our truck. The chefs were still there and immediately asked us why we weren't staying to eat. When we explained that we hadn't realized they closed at 7:30, they looked at us and said, "Go back in there and tell them we said we're still open for you guys." We were a bit concerned that we'd cause hard feelings and said we could just come back a different day, and they wouldn't have it. "We're the guys who'll be cooking, not them, if we're okay with it, then what have you got to lose?" We looked at each other and thought briefly and headed back up to the entrance. I had mentioned that I had a spur of the moment 'hankerin' for German Food, and he said, "Well, you're at the right place!" Before we got back in the front door, one of the chefs (we learned shortly after were the owners) was already letting the bar staff know to get us seated and taken care of. My girlfriend ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu, and I ordered the Pork Schnitzel. We of course sampled each others' dishes and it was beyond amazing on both entrees. Some of the best schnitzel I've had NOT in Europe, and the mushroom onion gravy was so savory and rich. The Chicken was loaded with flavor and I could definitely see that being on a future order for myself. After we were beyond stuffed, we decided to split a dessert for the occasion and had the Chocolate Mousse Cake. When the bartender learned it was our first anniversary, she made sure to get a candle to put in the cake for us, it was a very nice and welcoming touch. The bar staff was on their game with the service, keeping drinks full and checking on us frequently to make sure we were good to go. There were only two other tables still seated in the restaurant at that point, and they were actually there already eating when we first arrived. They were still there when we departed, so we assumed they may have been family friends or locally important patrons. The ambiance of the restaurant has a very British Pub feel to it, and it is so amazingly cozy and feels like home. We both left with an amazing impression and cannot wait for another chance to try some of the other menu options. I'm very curious to try the Filet Mignon next time, but the Stroganoff looked quite tempting as well. I think we both found a place that we'll absolutely keep on the short list of places to revisit next time we're in town. It was such a memorable experience and we so greatly appreciated the flexibility and hospitality they demonstrated. That type of service is so hard to find these days. Beyond that, I REALLY want to try those Eclairs on a Thursday!
