I visited for Sunday all day Happy hour. They offered good snack food at the bar, especially deep fried asparagus is soooo good! It is better than Isabelle's Tapas in downtown. Great portion and very crispy. I also got some wings, and the meat was fresh and meaty. Garlic buffalo sauce is great. I will visit for dinner too, the food was great overall.

After a long drive we stayed overnight in the Comfort Inn right next door to the Red Horse and decided to walk over for appetizers and drinks. What a delicious surprise this charming place is! We sat next to a warm open fire in a gracious dining room. Our attentive server was Tessa who was knowledgeable about the menu and helped make some recommendations. We started with side salads, Caesar and garden. Huge portions with crispy fresh ingredients. The lobster bisque here is sublime! Creamy and loaded with flavor. The bread is crusty and warm, perfect for dipping. We also had the stuffed mushrooms which were delicious. A stuffed baked potato was fluffy and perfect. Cocktails are potent and expertly prepared. I like bourbon in an old fashioned and it was perfect. Try this lovely place you won't be disappointed! I'd love to come back and try some of the creative sounding entrees!

This was the best part of the meal so needless to say we will not be back!

Nice place. Cozy. Good service. But my steak had too much fat and overall it was not very good. Way overpriced at $75.

We sat outside along Carroll Creek on a perfect evening and honestly the setting alone is worth the visit. But the food is what will bring you back. The pressed watermelon, feta and pistachio salad with vanilla onion jam was a nightly special and was outstanding... one of those dishes that sounds unexpected but every element makes complete sense together. The dill pickle hummus was a standout starter as well. The pork belly and grits is a classic on their menu for a reason... rich, perfectly executed, and totally delivers on the hype. The duck breast and filet with foie gras butter were both exceptional mains... the kind of dishes that remind you why you go out to eat. Do not overlook the sides. The potato salad especially is criminally underrated. The Short Shorties mini cocktail flight was a fun and delicious way to start the evening... a Negroni, Manhattan and Martini all in miniature form. Honest and knowledgeable hospitality from Kat, outstanding seasonal food, and a creek-side patio that makes the whole experience feel special. This one is a must for Frederick.

We took a table in the rear enclosed patio area near the bar. To start we ordered the meatball sliders. Two come with an order and they were good. I liked the toasted slider rolls, the tangy sauce and the spiciness of the meatball. Recommend cutting it in half to eat it without it flying out of the roll. Overall a good start. I ordered the gnocchi primavera which really wasn't in the traditional sense - as the vegetables were puréed together into an orange sauce. Had a good flavor and was served with burrata. Starters and entrees came out very close to each other which wasn't a bad thing. We also added a margherita pizza to share which looked weird - but tasted great. Nice crisp to the crust and thin. I usually think of a doughier crust with this kind of pizza but still good. Dessert was the fudge cake - rich in flavor, adding a coffee. Overall - would have loved to sit inside and get that experience but still good considering we didn't have a reservation. Our waiter - younger guy out back we good, though at times we leaned on the other bartender to help get refills.

We found this restaurant after using Google Gemini…read moreto find "Authentic German Food" when we arrived in the parking lot, we saw the chefs sitting outside taking a breather next to where we'd parked, but thought nothing of it at first. It was our first year of dating anniversary but we failed to notice when looking the place up that they closed at 7:30pm. We walked in at about 7:40pm and the bartender regretfully informed us that they had just closed. We accepted the situation for the error it was on our part and opted to go elsewhere. So barely 3 minutes after walking up to the entrance, we were heading back to our truck. The chefs were still there and immediately asked us why we weren't staying to eat. When we explained that we hadn't realized they closed at 7:30, they looked at us and said, "Go back in there and tell them we said we're still open for you guys." We were a bit concerned that we'd cause hard feelings and said we could just come back a different day, and they wouldn't have it. "We're the guys who'll be cooking, not them, if we're okay with it, then what have you got to lose?" We looked at each other and thought briefly and headed back up to the entrance. I had mentioned that I had a spur of the moment 'hankerin' for German Food, and he said, "Well, you're at the right place!" Before we got back in the front door, one of the chefs (we learned shortly after were the owners) was already letting the bar staff know to get us seated and taken care of. My girlfriend ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu, and I ordered the Pork Schnitzel. We of course sampled each others' dishes and it was beyond amazing on both entrees. Some of the best schnitzel I've had NOT in Europe, and the mushroom onion gravy was so savory and rich. The Chicken was loaded with flavor and I could definitely see that being on a future order for myself. After we were beyond stuffed, we decided to split a dessert for the occasion and had the Chocolate Mousse Cake. When the bartender learned it was our first anniversary, she made sure to get a candle to put in the cake for us, it was a very nice and welcoming touch. The bar staff was on their game with the service, keeping drinks full and checking on us frequently to make sure we were good to go. There were only two other tables still seated in the restaurant at that point, and they were actually there already eating when we first arrived. They were still there when we departed, so we assumed they may have been family friends or locally important patrons. The ambiance of the restaurant has a very British Pub feel to it, and it is so amazingly cozy and feels like home. We both left with an amazing impression and cannot wait for another chance to try some of the other menu options. I'm very curious to try the Filet Mignon next time, but the Stroganoff looked quite tempting as well. I think we both found a place that we'll absolutely keep on the short list of places to revisit next time we're in town. It was such a memorable experience and we so greatly appreciated the flexibility and hospitality they demonstrated. That type of service is so hard to find these days. Beyond that, I REALLY want to try those Eclairs on a Thursday!

Not great, not terrible -- average. For me, sitting at the bar is better than at a table: better service and conversation with others. Same food, average seafood with typical sides. If the food was a notch better: I'd come more than once a year. I find Mays, Liberty Seafood and Avery's roughly the same, with Mays having the edge over the others (quieter too). For just crabs: order takeaway from Westpointe. For bulking up on food: Avery's. I actually enjoy eating at Avery's -- but it could be so much better if they improved the sides and service. Still, I do come once a year -- contrasted to: I visit several other restaurants at least twice a month ...and get better quality seafood dishes (at a marginally higher price). Just saying...

I let our server know, and she was very kind and quick to offer a replacement, which I really appreciated. However, when the second steak came out it appeared grey on the inside and had a very unusual texture. It was grainy and fell apart very easily, almost as if it could be cut with a fork. The texture and color were concerning and made the steak difficult to enjoy. Unfortunately, after eating some of it I began feeling sick and ended up having to leave early. I'm not sure if the issue was with the quality or freshness of the meat, but it was a very disappointing experience. I do want to note that the seafood my family ordered was actually very good and everyone else enjoyed their meals. I would rate the seafood around an 8/10. That said, I hope the restaurant looks into the quality of the red meat being served so others don't have a similar experience.

The salad is drenched with dressing by default, so I've learned to ask for dressing on the side. (And to 86 the sun-dried tomatoes. Who does that to a Caesar?). The potato is always well baked, with a fluffy interior and crisp exterior (and yes, I eat the skin. As my Mom used to say, "That's where the nutrients are"). I always ask for LOTS of butter, always get less butter than I want (they will bring more). I also always ask for chives, but they send out scallions (and actually had a server tell me their cook said "what's the difference?"). Minor quibbles all.
