Tables out back - it's giving Nona's garden

I think this is one of those places that people don't know about in downtown but a great spot with a cozy outdoor seating in the back - the food is solid- I don't think the pasta is homemade but I enjoyed everything we ordered. We really enjoyed the Cristina pizza and refreshing orange crush! The bread is that crispy thin crust with a warm soft inside accompanied with homemade whipped butter. This is a great place for a weekend lunch or dinner.

We came in on a Friday night before a wedding event and I would definitely suggest reservations. It was rather busy! Thankfully they took our name and number down and we could walk around for a bit until they called. We sat down and our waiter was awesome and friendly. My husband and I both had chicken dishes and would have loved for the chicken breast to have been cutlets. I felt like for the price we paid, chicken parm or chicken piccata shouldn't be that thick.

Cucina Massi us beautiful located in downtown Frederick. The restaurant appears to be in a former residential home. For your awareness, they only accept reservations of 10 or more in your party. There wasn't a wait when we went since it was a weeknight. The server was very friendly and immediately sat us at a nice table located in the front room. Our server was very attentive and polite. They serve complimentary bread and butter at your table (traditional Italian sliced bread). The decorations and devour is very quaint and what you might expect form a small Italian restaurant. Photos on the wall, art, and playing cards on the ceiling :) We ordered carbonara and spaghetti with meatballs. The food came out pretty fast and was nice and hot. The meatballs were nice and soft hike also very flavorful. The carbonara was very creamy but did need a bit of salt. For dessert we had the homemade tiramisu and chocolate fudge cake (all of their desserts are homemade and some made daily). The tiramisu isn't a traditional one as it's more like a cake consistency rather than soaked in coffee (doesn't have a coffee taste). But they were certainly not frozen and I would have the cake again. Overall, I really enjoy yes our dinner there and would come back anytime!

Incredible food, great service, one of the best pasta dishes I've had in a while! Wait times can be a little lengthy on busy nights. We waited at the bar and got some drinks. Bartender was very attentive and the drinks were great. Highly recommend!

Love Cucina Massi! Inviting cozy ambience located in the perfect spot in downtown Frederick. But the star of the show is the food! Authentic Italian very well executed and in healthy portions. The house salad to kick it off is perfection. The crab ravioli to die for. Veal Massi is my favorite. Chicken Piccata yum! We've never been disappointed. Cocktails are on point. Well balanced. And you must wrap it up with house made cannoli and tiramisu.

What a lovely gem in the heart of downtown Frederick! The weather was nice so we asked to be seated on the patio out back....which is really an enclosed patio with windows that open. It has its own bar and plenty of seating and you can seethe brick path which is exploding with flowering vines and flowers. We could see heaters so it looks like it's still an option even if it's not so warm outside. The main restaurant is very elegant and peaceful while the back is causal and comfortable. The Aperol Spritz sangria was yummy and refreshing! The eggplant rollatini was divine! I had the veal piccata and my friend had the capellini caprese. The veal was fork tender and the lemon caper sauce was just the right touch of lemon. The capellini dish was wonderful! Service was prompt, friendly and professional. Always an important element....the restroom....was excellent. Accessible, comfortable, and great decor.

Headed out to Fire and Ice this past Saturday without much of a plan. Went to a local brewery and then our small group decided we needed some real food. Every place was packed! We went to Cucina Massi and we were told a 30-45 minute wait for a table. No problem, we said, may we wait at the bar? The front bar doesn't have any space but "we do have a back bar that is available", she said. Back bar?? We didn't know there was a back bar area! After a quick walk down a back alley, reminiscent of a small European village, we were welcomed at the back bar and wow! What a cool little area (enclosed and heated!). We quickly sat down and the staff was super accommodating and incredibly friendly! They were able to squeeze us in to an open table and we commenced with a lovely bottle of Cabernet and appetizers! We ordered Arancini and beef carpaccio. We absolutely LOVED their version of Arancini, which had small bits of ground beef (or was that meatball pieces?! ) truly delish! The carpaccio was super tasty but the portion of meat could have been a smidge larger, unless you are looking for a single serving appetizer. For mains, hubby and I split the Veal piccata, which was cooked perfectly our friends ordered meatball sliders, lasagna (huge portion) and spaghetti carbonara. EVERYTHING was prepared perfectly, and served piping hot! Not an easy feat with a super packed restaurant. I would order all of this again!! Pricing was very reasonable. We had a party of five with a bottle of wine, 6-beers and an espresso martini.. all in with tip, just over $200. Kudos to the manager (and superb waitstaff) for being so very respectful and accommodating for our group, truly appreciate your kindness and next time we will book a reservation ahead of time!! Thank you!!

cute ambiance! i sat on the enclosed patio in the back. the bartender was very friendly! for food, i had a caesar salad and the penne black & bleu. the caster salad was good - loved the creamy dressing. i had high hopes for the penne black & bleu but it was pretty flavorless, extremely small piece of chicken. for wine, i had their rubio red blend - not a good taste and pretty light. tried a cab after that was better. overall, wine and food was subpar.

May very well be the best fine dining in Fredrick. I have zero complaints about the experience. I had the red wine flight and after the flight I asked for one of the wines for a "2nd" glass... Alas! They did not have enough! ...So the staff did what I would do: They offered me a much pricier wine at the same cost. This is doing your customer right. Also, we had a dozen oysters and when we finished we realized we were one short! ha ha! Well... we showed the waiter the shells and he said: Would you like the 12th oyster or for us to comp the selection. We got the 12th oyster... Just offering to comp us was nice. However, all that aside: The food is EXCELLENT, same with the wine and the service...!

Turned out to be a very memorable first visit. We found this restaurant after using Google Gemini…read moreto find "Authentic German Food" when we arrived in the parking lot, we saw the chefs sitting outside taking a breather next to where we'd parked, but thought nothing of it at first. It was our first year of dating anniversary but we failed to notice when looking the place up that they closed at 7:30pm. We walked in at about 7:40pm and the bartender regretfully informed us that they had just closed. We accepted the situation for the error it was on our part and opted to go elsewhere. So barely 3 minutes after walking up to the entrance, we were heading back to our truck. The chefs were still there and immediately asked us why we weren't staying to eat. When we explained that we hadn't realized they closed at 7:30, they looked at us and said, "Go back in there and tell them we said we're still open for you guys." We were a bit concerned that we'd cause hard feelings and said we could just come back a different day, and they wouldn't have it. "We're the guys who'll be cooking, not them, if we're okay with it, then what have you got to lose?" We looked at each other and thought briefly and headed back up to the entrance. I had mentioned that I had a spur of the moment 'hankerin' for German Food, and he said, "Well, you're at the right place!" Before we got back in the front door, one of the chefs (we learned shortly after were the owners) was already letting the bar staff know to get us seated and taken care of. My girlfriend ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu, and I ordered the Pork Schnitzel. We of course sampled each others' dishes and it was beyond amazing on both entrees. Some of the best schnitzel I've had NOT in Europe, and the mushroom onion gravy was so savory and rich. The Chicken was loaded with flavor and I could definitely see that being on a future order for myself. After we were beyond stuffed, we decided to split a dessert for the occasion and had the Chocolate Mousse Cake. When the bartender learned it was our first anniversary, she made sure to get a candle to put in the cake for us, it was a very nice and welcoming touch. The bar staff was on their game with the service, keeping drinks full and checking on us frequently to make sure we were good to go. There were only two other tables still seated in the restaurant at that point, and they were actually there already eating when we first arrived. They were still there when we departed, so we assumed they may have been family friends or locally important patrons. The ambiance of the restaurant has a very British Pub feel to it, and it is so amazingly cozy and feels like home. We both left with an amazing impression and cannot wait for another chance to try some of the other menu options. I'm very curious to try the Filet Mignon next time, but the Stroganoff looked quite tempting as well. I think we both found a place that we'll absolutely keep on the short list of places to revisit next time we're in town. It was such a memorable experience and we so greatly appreciated the flexibility and hospitality they demonstrated. That type of service is so hard to find these days. Beyond that, I REALLY want to try those Eclairs on a Thursday!

Our server was excellent--friendly, organized, and very mindful of our need to finish in time for the show. She handled separate checks, kept drinks filled, and made sure everything ran smoothly. The food was the highlight. We ordered full brunch meals, and everyone enjoyed their dishes. The house-made chorizo, flavorful sauces, and Eggs Benedict (with the option of a fresh biscuit instead of an English muffin) were especially good. Overall, we had a great experience. They start you with warm complementary bread with butter. The filet mignon was our favorite dish with soft meat and mashed potatoes. The sauce was a little sour to complement the meat. The linguini in the seafood linguine was cooked soft so it's good for little kids, but if you would like it more al dente, you'll probably have to let them know.
