My bf and I love this place. They do a special burger of the week and also have a 5 dollar burger special on Monday's. We've tried a handful of different burger options and they are all great..... Arguably the best burgers in town! We've tried a couple other menu items that were all awesome and in general the portions are huge. Bar Pub Atmosphere. Thing that stood out the most is the quality of service. The waiter was very nice, gave recommendations, speedy and accurate. The food was good the only thing I wish is that the crab dip had actual chunks of crab meat. That would have made this a stellar meal. Nonetheless, the food was good. Hot and freshly cooked. They have a happy hour for the whole restaurant where you get 1.50 off of drinks. That was a plus and they had a prime rib deal on Thursdays The location was packed for 6pm on a Thursday. But the staff served and flipped tables effectively to the point that a wait never started. We had 2 apps, 2 entrees, and 4 drinks for $100 with tip. read more

I used to believe that Madrone's had the best burger in Frederick. Not any more! I ordered a "medium" wood grilled burger with fried jalapeños. Had the works with it. It was ridiculously juicy and flavorful. I also ordered a North Coast - Old Rasputin Nitro Stout (9%). It tasted great but it will put you on your ass, if you have more than one. I think we will make this our go to burger place going forward. I can't vouch for anything else on the menu but I don't have to. Get a burger! read more

To start with, I was impressed by our very knowledgeable and helpful server, Steve. He explained each beer selection, made recommendations, and offered small sample tastings on request before ordering. Oscars has an amazing selection of drafts from all over the country, 40 beers in all, as I recall. My one complaint is that they use different colored chalks on the craft beer chalkboard listing and, the listings in purple were absolutely illegible on a black background. The food was very good. I have not really had anything bad on the menu! Sometimes depending on the day the service is not the greatest or the food does come out a little on the colder side... BUT the turkey avocado club is delicious, the seared ahi tuna appetizer and the wrap are both delicious, as well as the crab dip appetizer and southwest egg rolls! They also have delicious cocktails but a little expensive! But they have a good happy hour. They also offer a lot of craft beer on tap with a good mix of local beers. In a desperate attempt to avoid chain restaurant mass-produced factory food, I find a local place that is open for their Sunday brunch. We enter a restaurant that hums with activity with a nearly full crowd. Facing a full wall of tap beer selections, we make our selections. My Fish & Chips were served hot, full of flavor and plenty of it. Our other selection of Southwest Eggrolls were a hit as well. What more do you need? A locally owned place, serving up good food at reasonable prices. And beer too! We will return. read more

Pretty good food. Definitely more of a bar environment - says it in the name. Extensive menu including a list of delicious sounding appetizers, sandwiches, entrees, salads, soups, burgers and more. I chose the California salad. It had a pretty good flavor, although I'm always disappointed when a menu advertises a salad as mixed greens and it is really just romaine, especially because I am not a huge romaine fan. Welp I use to order from this place thru Uber Eats and I thought let's go inside!!! We've been in here for over 20 mins and still do not have any food... Jamabalaya, fried pickles and ribs?!?!?!?!? So let's start by saying there are worse places to go eat in Frederick. Now with that said, its just your average local spot, not bad but nothing too special besides the large portions. Our service all three times has been on the bar side of the establishment and was good but not great. Lots of room and tables though. It doesn't feel too cramped on the bar side and the decor is kinda generic. I would recommend this place for a low-key brew or two but not for date night or anything special. I got nothing bad to say, found this place on yelp swung in for a cold one and ended up staying for dinner. The barmaid was super accommodating, let me sample a few beers and when I was undecided about dinner she recommended the cream of crab and the Cuban egg rolls as 2 of her favorites. My first visit, was a little upset that we waited a seemingly long time for service. It was not that busy but once we did find a server all was good. Specialty drink Gin Bramble was excellent. Great beer and wine selections too. Started with crab soup which had just the right amount of spice but was a bit skimpy on the crab, still very good on the rainy chilly night we were here. I ordered the feature special of grilled swordfish. When I asked for substitute of spinach in lieu of the dirty rice I was charged $1.50 more for this. My dinner was really tasty, bit of heat to the fish, grilled asparagus was good and tender only slightly overdone on the grill which dries it a bit. Small thing but it's the small things that keeps me from giving it a higher rating. Nice place to dine. I'd come back here again. Very clean and friendly wait staff. Overall good choice. read more

All I can say is holy wow. First of all, the service is impeccable. So friendly, knowledgeable about not just the menu but also the MANYYYYY beer selections. Gabby took excellent care of us and let us try several beers and made suggestions according to our individual tastes and preferences. I ordered the Reuben and some of the best onion rings I've ever had. The Reuben was full and the corned beef was tender. Not too much dressing hooping it up either. Tim had shrimp and grits from the brunch menu. Sauce was spicy and ohh so flavorful. Katie had cheeseburger with bacon and blue cheese. Pretzel roll. Perfectly cooked. And she couldn't eat it all so of course we had to have dessert - a tasty and not too sweet peach cobbler with ice cream and caramel sauce. One of the managers Steven came to check on us and was also extremely pleasant and asked us some great questions. All so affable! We will definitely be back...many many tines. read more

I have been to Oscars twice in the last month and both were terrible experiences. Oscars Alehouse used to be a great restaurant where my family or a group of friends and I could gather to have a good meal but over the years, the experience has really gone down hill. I'm not sure whose to blame but the root of the problem has go do with the service. For the first of my bad experiences, myself and the one other person I came with spent 20 minutes waiting for 2 waters and another hour waiting for our food. The only time we heard from our server was when she took our order. When our food came there wasn't an apology but a distracted "here you go" while avoiding eye contact. Today I had my second terrible experience. Our server was named Paige. I was looking forward to eating Oscars famous buffalo chicken sandwich but to little surprise did i find myself losing my appetite and patience during the 45 minute wait for our food. During the first 35 minutes we, again, did not hear from our server or any managers. Then, 10 minutes before our food arrived, a female manager with gauges came over and said everything except a simple apology. The way she talked almost seemed condescending (since we are younger) as if our business was less important than everyone else in the restaurant. I doubt that I personally am being targeted by the Oscar's staff and I highly anticipate that there have been many other customers who have had similar experiences. Although Oscars has great food, the customer service is significantly lacking and they should look to hire a more mature and responsible staff if they wish to uphold their reputation in the Frederick community. I would also like to note that both of the visits discussed above, happened on Tuesdays. A day in which the dining room was half empty. I hope Ralph can take some time out of his busy day, of not properly training his staff, to view this review and hopefully make the necessary changes which Oscars desperately needs. read more

Oscar's Ale House was recently hammered in the local paper, so I went in today to check things out for myself. The cream of crab soup was delicious. The Cobb salad was superb, loaded with chicken, avocado, bacon, egg, tomatoes and lettuce. The service was great, too. There was a decent lunch time crowd and I heard other diners say how much they were enjoying their meals. OK, newspaper - this is not a fancy joint. It's burgers, fish, salads and soups, with wings, fries and onion rings. It's a real breath of fresh air, and a welcome addition to medium priced dining in Frederick. Rock on, Oscar's!!!! read more
