We went for dinner for the first time. We brought our Golden Maisey. She had the burger and an order of steamed carrots that were made special. The wife had the pot pie bites, the Chicken BLT and Fries. I had the Steak Frites that was excellent and a healthy portion. We shared a side of Mac and Cheese which was amazing. My friend wanted to go out on a weeknight for a good salad in Frederick. I couldn't think of anything (!), but we lucked out by ending up at Showroom. I think of Showroom as an upscale/fresh, homecooked meal spot with a diner vibe, unless you're in the covered patio room. While they don't have a big salad selection, more choices are there by changing up your protein of choice (shrimp, grilled chicken, tenderloin steak, roasted chicken salad, or lump crab). And the chef obviously puts care into preparing it well!! We both chose salmon on different salads and were really happy! I think I'm right in saying Showroom pan fries the salmon skin down so it becomes nice and crispy, then bakes it to finish. So it wasn't the grilled, overspiced, and overdone salmon served at most restaurants, even good ones. The salmon flavor came through and we both "mmm'ed" as we ate. Everything was fresh and excellent. We appreciated being offered a sample of the exceptional chicken salad and had good overall service. I hope to go back more often. read more

Stumbled upon this local Frederick treasure. Took a party of 7 to brunch and we were seated on time for our reservation. Tori was our waitress and she was unflappable!! It was a busy day and she maintained her composure, made sure we were attended to, and made the meal more enjoyable. The lavender lattes came out perfect The Chicken pot pie fritters were incredible and we ordered a second helping! 3 ordered The Chefs breakfast and it came out perfectly and delicious. 1 had Bread Pudding French toast ( a delicious breakfast and desert in one) totally recommend for a sweet tooth! 1 had Huevos rancheros (added some hot sauce) and it disappeared as quickly as it arrived!! 2 Had the Chicken and the egg, be hungry for this one because it is a full meal. We got the items in the attached pictures and everything was delicious and contained a complex well balanced flavor profile. I have had many outstanding meals at Showroom. I have really enjoyed the food and the service is really very attentive and professional. I think I had the fried half-chicken 4 times in a row because it is really the best anywhere near here! The Old Fashioned they make is pretty darn good, and they have some great values for wine as well. I've had the Fish and Chips which was very good, and I have made my way through the salads and several other appetizers -- the biscuits and deviled eggs are great! Every one of my experiences has been great, except for one dish: The Mushroom Risotto. ...This was a failure in my opinion because despite being tasty, it was undercooked with far too much "tooth" and it was remarkably dry as well. Now, given the number of meals I had that were excellent -- this was an aberration and I mention it here because I'd really like to try it again someday... And yet: Great restaurant, great service, extremely professional and well run. I will be back, probably for that darn great chicken...;-) read more

Our server Diana helped us out greatly as we were celebrating my father-in-law's birthday :) she was super attentive and gave her recommendations when prompted and checked on us to ensure we were enjoying our food. This was my first visit to this location and they checked all the boxes that I normally look for and a new restaurant; great food, good vibes, and excellent service. Everyone got different options from the platters with toast and bacon/sausage and crispy home fries to my option of bread pudding French toast. I also had a cappuccino and we shared pancakes. All in all I would give this a 5 out of 5 stars! We did make a reservation so we didn't have a wait time. This is recommended. read more

This is obviously a hot spot in the area. There were plenty of people waiting in 20 degree weather to get in, but our large reservation was still ready on time. The service was impeccable. One server (pokemon guy) took care of everything and never missed a beat. Nobody was disappointed, but it's a 30 mile drive for us and nobody would make the drive back just to eat here. Negatives: The biscuits got the worst review for being dry and crumbly with no cheesiness and barely and chive flavor. This is an easy one to fix...sprinkle some chives on the prepared biscuits, maybe make it a maple or honey butter because the whipped butter is tasteless, actually put enough cheese so they compare to Red Lobster biscuits, and don't present them in a 6 inch plate when they cost $10 for 3. And when they have black spots, don't serve them, make a new order and serve golden brown biscuits! The short rib soup got double negative reviews. Too difficult to eat with the massive slice of cheesy thick bread on top that you're supposed to hack through with a spoon. Croutons??Wooooooooow! The duck fat fries were taken home to see if we could cook them properly. They didn't get the cook right and they would be better presented in something that can breathe rather than a paper lined bucket that created the perfect environment for soggy city. The wings were nicely fried but anyone can make them at home. Baked then fried or smoked then fried or something that I couldn't easily do at home would make it worth it. $20 for 10 is also a slap in the face when Giant has them $2.29 a pound right now. They are super generous with their toast, but it's waaaaaay too thick. It looks comical when the bring out 4 pieces of rye thicker than Texas toast on top of your breakfast. The omelettes got decent reviews, but they had cheap tasting sausage inside with bad texture, rather than nice crumbly sausage (it was like a small minced link of pink sausage, like a hot dog), and the peppers and onions were hard to taste because every bite is mostly egg. But we did like the restaurant and have many more positive comments. The home fries are 10/10, everyone agreed. The fruit cup is beautifully presented and could have more variety but for $6 it's 9/10. The dressed greens were spring mix, lightly dressed. 9/10, very good but can't get a 10 because it's literally all green with zero color/visual appeal. The "Showroom" beers were also a hit. As far as value, they seem to be charging about what they have to charge to make it, so the value gets 8.5/10. But considering the well kept environment (and clean bathrooms, good parking) and very pleasant staff, value really is 9/10. (This does not include booze prices (or wings). The booze is very expensive. No deals with brunch.) read more

Because this place is an open kitchen, I can watch them prepare everyone's food. I noticed them take out the package of salmon and it was basically the same thing you get at Costco. If you like bread, you MUST get the cheddar chive biscuits. Hot, fresh, and delicious with whipped butter and strawberry jam. My friends & I keep coming back to Showroom for those biscuits! We made it again last Sunday for brunch. This visit, I had a perfectly made French omelette with spinach and Swiss cheese. The dish comes with a lightly dressed salad and a heaping helping of home fries - crisp on the outside, pillowy on the inside. The cappuccino was also quite lovely. Everything I've had here has been delicious. Ambiance is bustling but you can hear each other talk. Ample parking. Definitely requires a reservation. read more

It started as Bryan Voltaggio/Hilda Staple's Family Meal, became Dennis Hoffman's Born & Raised with Bryan as Executive Chef, was renamed Showroom in 2021 to avoid a name conflict. Major items on the menu are pretty much unchanged - thank heavens, because the fried chicken is AMAZING. Brined, deep fried, shatteringly crispy skin, moist meat, and a deal at $21 for a large half bird. Was less salty than I remember but that's not a bad thing. Love it! read more

First time here. Ambiance nice . We were seated in the porch area and with the overhead heaters, it was comfortable. I ordered the hamburger. When it came, the meat was cooked perfectly but it was too sloppy. I had a mess all over my hands. Our server was knowledgeable and pleasant. I wanted mashers as a side but was informed it would be an up charge. So I stuck with the overcooked chips. We opted for the ice sandwich for dessert. When it came, the cookies were warmed which ended up melting the over chipped ice cream . The ice cream turned into pudding. If I return , won't order that dessert again. I visited Showroom on a whim after seeing it next to this really cool cigar lounge (Quartermaster's). It was nice and open inside, and clean. The service was absolutely outstanding from the moment I walked in the door. I felt welcome. Staff was friendly and attentive, and seemed to enjoy working there (which makes for a better customer experience IMO). I had the chicken and waffles with a side of duck fat fries, and it was absolutely delicious! Next time I come back to Frederick, I'll definitely be visiting Showroom again. Brunch was amazing! Possibly the best huevos rancheros I've had outside of Texas. The refried beans were ridiculously delicious w the delicate corn tortilla & eggs. Even though I was full half way thru I still ate the whole thing! As I stuffed my face I watched all the amazing sandwiches & waffles come out of the kitchen - the steak & cheese is next for me! After some past visits where service was lacking, my experience at Showroom yesterday was a breath of fresh air! The food, as always, was great, but what truly made this visit exceptional was our server--Diana (I believe that was her name). She was, without a doubt, the BEST server I've ever had here and one of the best I've encountered at any restaurant recently. She was attentive, polite, and incredibly welcoming. She checked in on us the perfect amount--never too much, never too little--and despite being obviously busy, she made sure we never felt forgotten. Diana is the kind of server every restaurant should aspire to have. She deserves recognition, a bonus, or even a promotion--she's that good! If Showroom is looking for the gold standard of service, she's it. Looking forward to coming back, especially if Diana is working! read more

Excellent food and service. They are very kid friendly which is important in my life now. Service is attentive. Nice ambience with floor to ceiling windows. Fries are soft inside and crisp on the outside and come with three sauces. Onion rings are massive, the size of donuts. Pot pie fritters are so creamy inside. The french omelet with goat cheese and caramelized onions is very tasty. Not a spot of brown on the omelet which is hard to find and wonderful. I wish I lived closer, but this will always be my go to spot when I'm in Frederick. read more

Due to the busyness of the Sunday, we had to constantly wave down our server as we had to wait almost 10 minutes for water and to place our order, and waited 15 minutes to waiver down for our check. Such a quaint location with indoor and outdoor seating! The outdoor seating does have fans and they do come frequently to check on your water since some days recently have a been pretty hot. The waiter was a gem and very on top of checking our table. We ordered the pitcher of white peach sangria not pictured because we enjoyed it a bit too much. The main entrees were beautiful and smelled amazing. My only comment is the breading on the fish either was a bit overcooked or a bit dry on my end because the fish was delicious. The dessert that we didn't know we wanted was IMPECCABLE. I am not a fan of carrot cake but this one makes me reconsider that. 10/10! read more

Second time the dishes seemed rushed, poor presentation, roasted carrot side was great two weeks ago, today was bland and totally lacked any trace of the balsamic glazed we enjoyed previously. For some reason the cocktails we ordered had shrunk by 50% and our food came too fast to have been prepared with any care as we noted on its arrival. Food - 8/10 Mid-Atlantic cuisine at its near-best, with excellent appetizers (not pictured), especially the chicken pot pie fritters. The fish and chips had generous portions of steamy white fish, and the fries were super crispy and crunchy long after the fish was gone. My sister ordered the pastrami hash, and while we were both excited, it was a little of a letdown, with the meat a little too greasy and the potatoes a little too soggy. However, it's flavor was excellent, and the bite of breakfast sandwich I had from another family member almost made me wish I ordered that dish too. Service - 9.5/10 Our server was delightful and answered all of our requests with a smile and quick turnaround time. He was incredibly knowledgeable with the dishes, re: what was homemade/could be shared/his personal favorites, and he made us feel welcome and cared for. Atmosphere - 8/10 The interior of the restaurant is fantastic; with an open and fun vibe, it seems like the perfect place for a meal with friends and family, especially with its lineup of drinks. Started a snowy Saturday morning in March, with brunch here. We ordered the biscuits for the table. They were savory, cheddar and chive, but served with a delicious fruit jam; perfection! The rosé I ordered was delightful. For my entrée I chose a chicken sandwich. I think it's called the chicken and the egg. It came with a corn meal and flour coated fried chicken thigh, fried egg, and cheese. The chicken wasn't well coated and ended up being dry; you can see the uneven cook on the side where the coating fell off. Cornmeal is also an odd choice for coating fried chicken. I've never had it and I think there's a reason. The potatoes that accompanied my sandwich were stellar! Perfectly crisp on the outside, soft inside, coated in herbs and expertly seasoned. I could have eaten an entire plate of those potatoes! Overall decent first impression and I'd come back to try some other items. read more

If you can manage to get past the host stand, maybe worth a visit. Food and servers are good. Host staff is abysmal. I called Wednesday to make a reservation for our party of 7. I was told they don't take reservations, especially for Sunday brunch, but I could call ahead and give them a heads up when we were on our way. Called Sunday morning and they say it'll be 35-45 minutes and they can't put us on the wait list until we get there. No problem. We show up - they look shocked a party that big just walks in. Insisted I should've made a reservation. I explained I tried and I had just spoken to someone 20 minutes ago. After a lot of blank stares and several arguments about their reservation policy, They magically find a table in the patio and everything was fine. I wouldn't have bothered with a review, but one hostess continued to give us dirty looks every time she seats a table in our section and on the way out. We would have ordered drinks and desserts but we just wanted away from the frosty attitude. Beyond unprofessional. read more

After eating at Chef Bryan's Thacher & Rye a few years ago, it's hard to believe this restaurant has his name behind it. We came here on a date night and ordered the chicken pot pie fritters, Maryland pit beef, and a double stack burger. Several issues: - The pot pie fritters were fine in concept, more or less a croqueta. Biggest complaint was the inside hadn't fully cooked through and we got a couple pieces that were still cold. - Waitress didn't ask for temperature of the meat for the burger. It was served with overcooked patties but cheese that wasn't melted. - The Maryland pit beef was more like cheesesteak on a bun, without the cheese. I need to see my way to Chaps asap for redemption after eating this. Also much greasier than it needed to be, it was that bad. - Entrees came out literally 90 seconds after the appetizer. From sitting down to bill paid and standing up from our table was a total of about 40 minutes. Felt like a very rushed meal. Only positives were the fries were perfect and our tab, which included two cocktails, were under $100. I suppose this could be an okay place to go for brunch or a family meal but we chose a rare date night, which made it all the more disappointing for my wife and I. read more

A solid choice in Frederick. We have been here a handful of times and have yet to be disappointed. I think because of their limited menu, however, it appears they may have added a little more variety and options! This is a decently sized restaurant that also offers outdoor seating. For our most recent experience, we chose to sit inside and made a reservation ahead of time since it was Friday night, although it may not have been needed in this instance. It is well lit by natural light and the seating is comfortable, although a LITTLE tight. As a family of 4, we ordered the Steak Frites, Short Ribs, Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and the kids Pancakes with sausage. - Steak Frites: ordered medium rare and that is exactly what we got. The steak was perfectly seasoned and the fries were nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The spicy aioli was a perfect compliment. - Short Ribs: these were SO tender! The short ribs are served atop mashed potatoes and almost gives roast beef vibes. The collard greens are cooked so well it would almost be comparable to soul food. - Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich: my son described this as the perfect spice! He's not a fan of too much spice, but he said it was enjoyable. His sandwich came with potato chips instead of fries, so he ended up trading my husband's fries for his chips. Overall, he enjoyed his meal. No crumbs left! - Kids Pancakes: my daughter rated these an 8/10. She enjoyed them! She did say her sausage tasted like blueberry (which she hates). I tried it and I think it may have been sage. Tasted fine to me! I did get a crush flight which left me feeling good! Not too strong, but just right. Would be perfect for brunch or anytime, really. Our server was very attentive throughout, very friendly and easy. We have yet to have a bad experience with staff here.
