My friends and I stopped here for brunch on the way to Harpers ferry, after I looked it up on Yelp. We really liked the atmosphere and that they had outdoor covered seating (it even had heaters and fans). Our service was great and everyone was very friendly. The menu is full of some classic brunch options, so even our table of picky eaters could find something they liked. We ordered onion rings and the pancakes for the table as appetizers. No complaints on the onion rings, and the pancakes are probably the best thing that we ordered, so two thumbs up for that! As far as our entrees, two of us ordered the breakfast sandwich, someone ordered the omelette, and two of us ordered the steak and eggs. Overall, I would give the food a solid 3. The home fries are unique and different from what you would typically expect, but in our opinion, a little bit too thick and dense although we really liked the batter. The breakfast sandwiches were good and a filling option (would love if a tomato was part of the toppings)! No real complaints about the omelette, but it was also definitely a filling dish! Overall a fantastic restaurant. The $$ is accurate price wise. The portions are on the smaller side and there was no hope for any leftovers, but the quality is amazing so you can't really be too upset. We did get a set of dishes that had a very little bit of dried food on it, and I mean very, very little, easily scrapped off with a fingernail. This is something I've noticed in other restaurants and assume it comes from using industrial dishwashers that wash quickly with high-pressure water. So it's not that the dishes are dirty, per se, but that the dishes can have leftover sanitized residue on it. What we got: Chicken Pot Pie Fritters - 4* my partner liked the fritters more than I did (he gives them 5*, I give them 3*). I felt the flavor was lacking a bit for the outside crust but I'm not sure what one could do to add flavor without messing with the flavor of the dipping sauce. But the pot pie filling was fantastic and the sauce! Oh that sauce. I saved the remaining sauce for my sandwich. Nashville Chicken Sandwich - 5*. I forgot until halfway through the sandwich that I had saved the dipping sauce from our appetizer to use here. I didn't even need it! (But I did try it still, haha) The chicken was amazingly tender and the cheese was fantastic. Biscuits and Gravy - 5*. The biscuits were soft and perfect, not too crunchy or doughy. The gravy was on the lighter side and didn't overpower the meal, a common occurrence with this dish. It was creamy, delectable, and hit the spot. What a find!! This place clearly reminds me of the kind of place you might find in Palm Springs. It has some familiar comfort foods, with a slight twist... Like the fried chicken- it's pretty much just likeable fried chicken, but the pickled vegetables rolls that come with it are very good. The fried chicken sandwich with an egg on it is absolutely amazing. The home fries that come with that are also very good. Captivated by the menu, we also tried the chicken pot pie flavored fritters with a wonderful Louisiana Pete type sauce, and their deviled eggs. Both of which were excellent by the way. In summary, pretty much everything here is been made with great care and love, and is just wonderful. Dinner at Showroom was an excellent experience for our family. It's going to cause us to do something we've never done before - go for a return visit to a restaurant on a short vacation. We usually like to try out different places, but we all agreed Showroom was worth it! All of the food was very good. The hangar steak was probably our favorite entree, brought to another level by some of the best mashed potatoes we've had. The shrimp and grits was also excellent, as was the gazpacho soup. But what really set Showroom apart were the kids menu options. While not cheap, they were all well thought out and good portions and value. The kids burger was the star, coming with multiple sides - apple sauce, side salad, pickle, and fries. They also offered breakfast options on the kids menu - the pancakes with bacon were a crowd pleaser. The kids all tried each other's meals and (while they loved their own), want to return to have the others. The only slight area for improvement is some service hiccups. Overall, very friendly and attentive - but still seems to need the final refinement / attention to detail (e.g., no spoon brought with the soup, only 4 place setting for a party of 5, etc.). Absolutely get the chicken pot pie fritters. I should have just gotten 2 orders of that and made that my main. The ritz cracker coating makes it delicious. It does taste mostly like a croquette but it's really good. My bf got the mushroom soup which was nice and earthy, perfect for a cold rainy day. For my main I got the fried chicken and biscuits. We went for brunch and had a great experience. Our temperatures were taken upon arrival and we were seated on the covered patio spaced out from the other tables. For an appetizer, we ordered the chicken wings; they had a tasty sauce that was a little tangier than buffalo sauce and the ranch dipping sauce was really creamy. For the main dish, we ordered the Nashville Chicken sandwich and fried potatoes tossed in duck fat. It was the perfect combo. The sandwich was crunchy and seasoned very well. Being a fan of B.Volt, I had to try this restaurant while in town. Brunchtime visit and the menu had a nice variety of casual offerings to choose from. Deviled Eggs, Chicken Stack, side of Home fries and Sweet Tea. Now, I typically don't brag on tea, but my goodness this was really good tea! Deviled eggs, 6 halves, were pretty good. Felt like it needed a touch of sweet to balance the tart and they would have been perfect. Chicken Stack, which consists of Fried Chicken Salad, Bacon, Cheddar, Pepperjack, Lettuce, Tomato is built up like a club sandwich and huge!! It's a bit challenging to eat, so I ended up pulling the layers apart and eating it open-faced. It's so large I actually only had a 1/4 of it. I got the dijonaise on the side and glad I did because it wasn't necessary. The sandwich itself is very tasty,not dry at all. The potatoes were super crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. I knew as soon as I saw pictures of the food that I would love this place. The food was absolutely flavorful and melt in your mouth. I had the best DEVILED EGGS I ever ate and the CHICKEN POT PIE FRITTERS were little flavor burst. I loved how the food was soulful but not heavy. They serve real tea. They offer alcoholic milkshakes (I don't drink but thought it was a fun touch). I also had the North Carolina HOT CHICKEN SANDWICH. The peppery taste on the juicy, crunchy chicken was just what I needed after a short hike at Gambrill. Service was great. Decor, excellent. We came just before the dinner crowd. The only critique was the shrimp and grits. Although decent, the grits tasted more like risotto and wasn't what we were expecting. They were nice enough to replace the order. Weary after a long nightshift, I decided I had earned a good breakfast. I wandered over to Showroom, which used to be the beloved Family Meal. Immediately I was greeted by their kind staff who gave great recommendations on the menu. I was seated at a booth in the empty restaurant, and my only qualm about this experience comes from this booth. It was directly below the AC and it was so unbelievably cold that I was physically shivering. It is summer and I even had a jacket on! It made me want to not even finish my breakfast because I was so unbelievably uncomfortable. But back to the food, I ordered a strawberry marshmallow milkshake which was SO good. It had the most perfect toasted flavor. I love that they gave you the tin with extra ice cream as well. The duck fat fries paired perfectly with the milkshake. The sauce the fries came with was not my cup of tea, but that is alright. I do feel like the fries at Family Meal used to be slightly better, but perhaps that is also nostalgia talking. Lastly I finished my breakfast with waffles covered in banana compote topping. They were delicious. The perfect amount of sweet and savory. I will be back for lunch and dinner! read more

Born & Raised definitely is a nice, new addition to the Frederick restaurant scene. It's the same chef who owned Family Meal but different owners. The physical attributes of the restaurant are the same and not too many changes. Although some of the menu items are still the same but larger portions. Our family dined here last night and it was a pleasant experience from start to finish. They are still working out the quirks of newly opening but we were greeted by a friendly hostess who seated us. Once we sat down, our server was also friendly and we ordered the deviled eggs as appetizer which were a little sweet and savory, and the shrimp and grits. My mom ordered the beet salad which she said the dressing was delightful. My husband ordered the hanger steak with bernaise sauce as his main meal. Then I ordered the pork chop schnitzel with gribiche sauce which I highly recommend. The gribiche sauce is a French style mayonnaise based sauce to dip the pork chop for flavor. Then for our table of 6, we ordered the duck fat potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and roasted apple sauce. All the side dishes were definitely worth trying and we still had left overs to take home. After dinner, for dessert, we ordered the s'mores sundae, oatmeal pies ,and cookies and cream shake which were definitely must tried. We loved the s'mores sundae and soft and chewy oatmeal pies. The space feels like your on the show room floor of a car dealership with all the windows so they really did a good job there. Drink wise they have apple cider mimosas so naturally I was in heaven lol. My omelet was perfectly made and the potato seasonings made me not want to stop eating them! The staff was nice and not obtrusive which is always a nice perk. I got to enjoy my meal but they seemed to be nearby whenever I needed something and thats a nice mix that not every place gets right. The host had to point me out to the server twice. Last I checked, I wasn't invisible. Drinks were good (irish coffee in a mug; hot chocolate).
