We always sit at the bar and enjoy great service! There are enough food choices that I can find something to eat. I am not a fan of everything on the menu but then who is. This morning I ordered the crab cake melt sandwich with lobster au jus. It was gross. I couldn't taste the crab and I couldn't taste the lobster. The crab cake lacked simple seasoning and was mushy. The only flavor was the tarragon in the tarter sauce. I ended up eating the side of coleslaw. In Maryland, we set the bar high for crab cakes. Silver Diner's crab cake does not approach the bar, it needs an overhaul. read more

Beyond terrible!!! From waiting more than double the time we were told...to be sat in the middle of the room- I did ask for the wide open booth we walked by for 2 so did avoided that!! Placed our order took over 25 minutes waffle soggy omelette ice cold!! Manager seemed concerned and was ready to hand out a gift card to smooth over the situation- now I ask you- after the experience I just had would I really want a gift card to come back? While the concept of old school diner food refreshed and healthier is a great idea- maybe you shouldn't charge extra for egg whites... Was visiting from out of town and stopped by here on our way to our hotel. Everyone really enjoyed their dishes. The eggs Benedict was was delicious, i just wish the muffin was toasted longer. It was a bit soggy. We all loved their signature drinks and coffee was alright too! Food came out in a timely manner and our waitress was kinda and very attentive with us. My cousin who lived in Federick took me to Silver Diner for breakfast. I instantly liked the vibe as I walked in. Our server Colleen was very friendly, she brought the drawing set and kids menu to my kids right away. I ordered the Classic Egg Benedict and it was very good. I also tried a few bites of the scrambled eggs from my daughter's plate, the eggs were cooked perfectly--buttery and delicious. Silver Diner was quite busy for a Monday morning, but the experience was still enjoyable. Mallory was my waitress, and she was pleasant, cheerful, and very helpful--truly a perfect way to start the day. I began with a refreshing glass of Pure Green juice made with kale, spinach, cucumber, celery, zucchini, romaine, apple, lemon, and ginger. For my meal, I chose the California Omelet with egg whites, chicken, tomato, Jack cheddar, scallions, Baja black bean salsa, cilantro sour cream, and whole wheat toast. Our family of four had a pretty good dinner experience here. We had the "Snake River" Wagyu chop steak (served on a bed of spinach and mashed potatoes), Reuben sandwich with fries, cheeseburger with fries, and a kid's Mac and cheese. The total was roughly $73 post-tax. So the price to portion was pretty good. The taste was just as good too! I loved the Reuben and my wife enjoyed the wagyu dish. James, the server, is the MAN! He has waited on me and yes, my ex-wife, two times and has been nothing shy of the most friendly and most professional! During the meal he returned numerous times offering to refill drinks and to question if our means were fabulous, and they were. Wow, I know sometimes your meal doesn't come out well, but this morning was the worst. I ordered the country fried steak and eggs. For some time now I have not liked the scrambled eggs at this place. They cook them too fast on a hot grill and they come out hard and basically flat. And like usual they were mostly cold. I have made repeated comments to this restaurant that they can and should do better. The biscuit was not fresh and too hard to even cut much less eat. The country fried steak is usually pretty good, but today it was hard and overcooked. All and all very disappointing. read more

I have come here many, many times and it's consistently good. I particularly like the burrata shakshuka on the weekend brunch menu. It's a large serving and comes with naan on the side, tastes amazing. I've also tried various other menu items and nothing I've tried has been anything other than good. This place will get very busy on the weekends, particularly on weekend mornings/brunch time, but usually you can get seated within 15 minutes or so. My girlfriend and I were going to stop at an unnamed pub for dinner last night, but when we walked in an hour before closing we found out they had closed the kitchen already. Hungry suddenly turned into hangry. In a pissed off Yelp search I saw the Silver Diner. 4.1 stars on 471 reviews? Let's check it out. Because I'm hungry. And people may need to die if I don't eat soon. We arrived a little after 9 and were promptly seated. The ambiance is awesome: like a 50s diner. Shiny metal panels and wood. Nice. We waited a few minutes but weren't greeted. No worries; they have an extensive menu that requires looking over because it sure has a LOT of delicious looking items. Another table was sat and I could hear the manager and waiter discussing the arrivals. Sounds like there may have been a little confusion about whose table it was, but that was immediately settled when David arrived to greet us. David kneeled down table side and apologized for the wait. He took one look at me and said, "You look like you wanna punch me." Apparently my Resting Jerk Face is obvious. I told him this was stop 2 after stop 1 informed us that their kitchen was closed an hour before closing, at which time he stated they had just closed their kitchen. Obvious sarcasm. And I like sarcasm when I'm pissed. Had to laugh. We're off to a good start. He explained the concept and how they source everything locally. Even better. Drinks and food were ordered. We both got the bbq burger - great minds think alike but I ordered mine with no mushrooms ("Extra mushrooms", said David - bring that wit, brother!) and onion rings instead of fries (this gets important later). The drinks were promptly delivered. Phew. We were thirsty. The Girlfriend ordered a hibiscus lemonade with a shot of rum. I ordered a Diet Coke (I'm driving, and my girlfriend is hot: I'm not endangering her for a drink). Her eyes got wide when she had a sip of her drink and she offered me a sip. I took one. Damn. That's good stuff. Then the food arrived. ("The double flag means extra mushrooms.") Hole. Lee. Cow. Neither of us was prepared for the culinary greatness that is this burger. We added the pickles and onions to our desired levels (they come on the side) and dug in. Wow. What a burger (no, not the Texas fast food chain - focus, people). Juicy. Bacon-y. Delicious. My hands are immediately drenched in burger juices; a true sign of a good burger. I also have a little ramekin full of a yellow sauce that The Girlfriend doesn't have because it comes with onion rings. I don't remember the description (chile crunch or something) but I remember how it tasted: sublime (shoulda called it chile crack). I immediately dipped the next onion ring bite in the sauce and offered it to her. Her hazel eyes flew open in delight. This is gonna be a problem; she's envying my sauce and I'm powerless to say no to her... The rest of the meal is just her and I gushing over how good this burger is. Even the arugula on the burger was buttery and delicious. She loves her fries and is dipping them in the sauce. I'm giving her occasional onion ring bites. It's heavenly. And all feelings of hanger (think hungry anger) are fading quickly. The manager, Mike, came by to check on us. Super friendly. Chatted with us a notch. Super nice guy. And he's got the Gift of Gab. Love it. Because I'm eating this burger while he's talking. And this burger is ridiculously good. He also refilled our waters; what a gentleman! As I get up to wash my hands David asks if we want dessert. I'm not still hungry but that burger was SO F'ING GOOD that we relented and had him bring the dessert menu. When I return with clean hands I look at the dessert menu and there it is. The newest item on the dessert menu: The Peanut Butter Chocolate Explosion. At least I think that's what it was called. Because they brought it. And we took a bite. And we LOST our MINDS. What is happening?! How is this thing every bit as good as the burger but in exploding peanut butter chocolate form?!? Time and space lost meaning while we ate it. David stopped in on us and chatted with us for a bit. He asked us where we're from and informed us that he's looking at a house in our town. We're excited, and we hope he gets the place. Check time. David looks at me wondering why this hot chick is buying dinner. So am I but I won't look a gift horse in the mouth. Go early! You'll thank me! We got a table at 9:00am and had the most delightful server, Sabrina! She was very attentive and had a smile the whole time her section was filling up with more customers. We got coffee, "The American Favorite" and the "Pickle Brined Chicken and Waffle" and it was delicious! The home fries were perfectly soft with a crispy outside, my bacon was perfectly cooked, I made the substitution of an English muffin instead of a biscuit and cheese on my eggs. This was our first time at the Silver Diner and it will not be our last! We are visiting from California and this is now our favorite restaurant on the East Coast. We were served by an adorable woman named Elicia. She was knowledgeable and so very sweet. The manager who seated us was also very kind and overly accomendating. A cream of crab soup as my side. When I got my so called chicken pot pie, I was like to my nice waitress, what is this? My pie looked like an earthquake hit it. Like where's the pie? Where's the pot? Where's the flaky crust? So basically it's a de constructed pie. It's like a soupy concoction of what goes in a pot pie, and 2 large pieces of a flaky cracker. They should have a photo near the menu item cuz its misleading. I chose to get something else because the description was misleading. I then got a delicious burger n fries. My shake was good too. Wow! First time here and what can I say. This place takes you back with a modern touch. First of all it's clean, very welcoming staff, and a cool place to eat. I got seated right away and my server got me a drink (Coke) quick. She gave me time to look over the menu with no pressure. I ordered a short rib sandwich with fries and when my order came out it was still hot. The short rib sandwich was nice and soft, and flavorful!! I had to finish up with a classic chocolate milkshake although it was 30 degrees outside. It came with extra milkshake, WOW!! Tasted perfect with the thickness spot on. All in all I highly recommend this spot, or this joint as the older crowd would say. They play all the songs from the past, something we barely hear. Guess who was totally put to shame about judging a diner...ME. We went to silver diner for brunch on Thanksgiving day because that's what was open. I thought I was going to just another diner with mediocre food. I was SO wrong. First and foremost the service was excellent. Our server was the kindest, friendliest, sweetest and most attentive person ever. Second of all- the menu left me shocked and amazed. Who would expect Shakshuka with Halal lamb sausage on the menu?? We ordered that and it was so delicious. Spicy and flavorful. Better than all the shakshuka I have had in NYC. We also got the apple pie French toast which was so decadent and delicious. We loved the food so much that we came back the next day and we had the most delicious steak and eggs. Creekstone is very high end meat, and that is what they serve for the steak here. The only tiny thing I missed was being able to get a nice hot latte. They have basic coffee. Nonetheless I will certainly come here every time I am in the area. read more

A classic diner experience that has been revamped since they now serve healthier options and vegan milkshakes, which is quite nice (although they don't taste as good as regular ones). Generally, their food is quite filling and I enjoyed my Hawaiian burger which was cooked well. One complaint... using songs from the 50 and 60's is great but one of the great things about that time era is the Malted Milk Shakes! Often referred simply as a 'Malt'. This restaurant does not offer malts. Only shakes! We have inquired of several young staff members and they have never heard of Malt! Come on you guys! Go full circle!!
