Terrible experience. We came here for a good meal and everything was overly mediocre. We were overcharged three times and they got mad at us for asking for the correct price and even tried arguing with the manager. Beth was not a good waitress, she continued to roll her eyes, sigh, scoff, and overcharged us with 3 pepsis, an extra milkshake, and salad we never got. Forgot several items and the milkshake was insanely watery. Everything was overpriced for terrible service and mediocre sad food. I came in on a whim with a friend of mine and I left stuffed. The western egg sandwich with peppers and onions and sausage knocked me out. I would give four and a half stars if I could. Not quite on the five, but it's close. If you come here, I guarantee you won't leave hungry. My wife and I dined here recently for breakfast. My wife had a mushroom omelette, which was very good. I had the eggs Benedict, which were likewise quite tasty and delicious. An outstanding portion of the meal were the home fried potatoes, which were done to perfection with lots of crispy and crunchy pieces. The restaurant and the restrooms were clean, neat and well maintained. The server was pleasant, observant, and attentive. However, the service was pretty slow, considering that the restaurant was not busy and only operating at about 30% of capacity. it took about 20- 25 minutes from the time we ordered until our breakfast meals arrived at our table. read more

Disabled People with a Service Animal - BEWARE I visited Mountain View Diner in Frederick, Maryland, on Monday, March 10, 2025, and was met with immediate hostility and blatant disregard for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by General Manager Paula Dorsey. The first words out of her mouth were not a greeting but a demand to know if my service dog had a vest. I calmly informed her that a vest is not required under ADA law. She escalated the situation by demanding identification for my service animal, which is also not legally required. When I politely informed her of the law, she accused me of being rude. At that point, I responded, "I haven't been rude, yet." She was clearly reluctant to seat us but finally did. Hoping to de-escalate the situation and educate her on the ADA, I politely asked to speak with her. I have received formal ADA training from K9 Partners for Patriots, yet she refused to listen and incorrectly claimed that the health department governs service animals--which is completely false. The health department does not regulate service animal access, yet she insisted otherwise, dismissing federal law entirely. She was defensive, dismissive, and unapologetic the entire time. Her aggressive and combative approach significantly exacerbated my disabilities. As a retired U.S. Army Combat Veteran and Purple Heart Recipient, I have traveled across the country with my service animal--by air, taxis, hospitals, and more--and have NEVER been approached in such a rude, confrontational, and unlawful manner. She ignored federal law and refused to acknowledge the only two questions businesses are legally allowed to ask regarding service animals. Instead, she insisted on unlawful requirements that are explicitly prohibited under the ADA. Throughout this entire ordeal, my service animal remained fully under control and engaged in his trained work tasks. There was never any disruption or issue with his behavior. I consistently remained polite, referring to Ms. Dorsey as "ma'am," and genuinely tried to find common ground to ensure she understood ADA law for future interactions. However, she was completely unwilling to listen, learn, or acknowledge her legal violations. While I was ultimately allowed to eat, the experience was unacceptable, discriminatory, and deeply unsettling. The ADA exists to protect individuals with disabilities from exactly this kind of mistreatment, yet Ms. Dorsey's actions showed a complete disregard for the rights of disabled patrons. I understand there are many fake service animals out there, which is exactly why I tried to highlight the importance of understanding the law. A person fraudulently passing off a pet as a service animal would have left and ignored her attempt to bully the situation with her misguided "understanding" of ADA law. Instead, as someone who relies on my service animal as medical equipment, I stood my ground, hoping to educate rather than argue--but Ms. Dorsey made that impossible. I strongly urge anyone with a service animal to avoid this establishment. This was our first time at this diner. The restaurant was very busy on a Saturday morning, but we were seated within 5 minutes. The place definitely has the feel of a diner. The staff was working hard. Our visit was not perfect by all means, but our waitress and the food made everything better. The food was delicious. I got a veggie omelet which was cooked perfectly. It came with home fries and toast. It was way too much food. Only ate half and took rest of them home. I also really wanted a side of sausage patty. Omg... it was so good. My husband got the scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast. The bacon looked overcooked, but they actually tasted perfect. Besides a couple of hiccups, the overall experience was great. The food was great. Family of four ate breakfast here on a Wednesday at about 9 AM. Lots of locals here but still ample seating. Good service, good portions, good food, and reasonable prices. I used to like this diner for breakfast, but the last few times left me thinking I won't return. The RACIST short hostess lady with light brown hair and glasses is not welcoming. I let it go the last time, but after months of not coming back, I gave it another chance. This lady gave me a weird look when walking in, no hi or a smile. She was unfriendly and watching her deal with some others, she had a smile on her face and overly friendly. This happened the last two times visiting. My husband loved the waffle and the home fries was enough to share with the entire family. It was a huge portion! My son had the French toast with two scrabbled eggs and sausages. So we used to be regulars here when we lived in Maryland and always had great service with Francis. Went in today and she was not working but it was ok because the food is always good. We were sat at a booth in the front where the windows are and immediately saw ants crawling around. We asked to be reseated and were accommodated. However!!!!, they continued to try and seat people at the same booth over and over with the same results. In fact, one couple just got up and walked out because it is kind of disgusting having them crawl over your table. The diner has been here for years and definitely in need of some repairs and updating. Even with the broken tiles and cracks in the windows, the feeling of this diner is very nostalgic and a step back into time. Rachel, our server, was very friendly, and efficient. Yesterday evening my best friend and I came here for dinner before early fireworks here in Frederick. I had the clam strip basket and she had the fish and chips dinner. Both were EXCELLENT !!!! It's hard to find a place that makes good clam strips and their cook nailed it !!!! THANK YOU !!!!! I also ordered a slice of Cherry Pie to go and that was most delicious as well!!! Our server was training a new person and the thoughtfulness and teamwork between them was so lovely to see !!! Both were very friendly and kind !!!! The diner is large and beautifully retro. Everything was so clean and the bathroom was immaculate!!!! We spoke with the owner , Chris, he was at the register . I love his mindset on hiring young people without prior experience. The food I was able to eat was good. The waitress was friendly and service was prompt. My only issue is they won't allow substitutions even if due to allergies (and I was happy to pay the difference). I did speak to the manager, she was very dismissive, seemed bothered that I asked to speak to her and let me know I didn't need to eat there. Big portions. Potatoes were under cooked. Over baked biscuits/hard crunchy. Bacon was on point. The plates/silverware are old, dirty and broken. Plastic cups. Two of the plates brought to me had huge chips in them. It really says a lot about what you can find in The kitchen. Service was fine, friendly waitress. Service was fair. I judge partly on how much time my iced tea cup remains empty. This was my first dinner here. I love the breakfasts. For dinner I had the baked half chicken with stuffings and giblet gravy with chicken noodle soup, salad with ranch on the side, baked potato and succotash. The soup was very salty. Homemade, but not good. The salad came already dressed with an extra dressing on the side. Odd. The tomato in the salad had a bad spot. The succotash was overcooked lima beans with corn and no milk/butter sauce - so not really succotash. The stuffing was soggy, soaked in fatty gravy. The chicken was meh. The baked potato did not seem to be baked. It seemed to be steamed in its foil. Had an odd taste, mildly like potatoes made with a pot roast. Not a bad taste, but not what one expects a baked potato to be. I highly recommend this place for breakfast. For any other meal maybe a sandwich and fries might be a safer bet. I went to this place Friday night. I ordered a malted milkshake, vanilla, and some eggs and hashbrowns. While making my shake, the manager Chris finishes the shake after the waiter started it and then another waiter whose shift was done proceeded to drink my malted milk milkshake. He said oh was this for me or is this yours and I said yes it was mine and then my waiter had to make a new one. So that was a bad issue, the second issue is that while I was eating at the bar the manager stood in front of me, blew his nose and hocked a lugee into the tissue and then he went to the end of the bar and did the same thing really loud looking in my direction, he was at least a foot next to me. It was the grossest experience I've ever had at a restaurant. The manager Chris should be fired. He is gross and unhygienic. He didn't even wash his hands after he blew all that snot into the tissue with the lugee. I hope I don't get food poisoning because he also wiped the milkshake machine with his dirty ass hands with a rag that looked like it had been used to clean the counter. This place is crazy. Someone call the Maryland Department of Health cause this place is unsafe. read more

People who were seated after us already had their food long before ours came. The holdup was my wife's eggplant parm, not my corned beef. She liked hers. Walk through the door and go back to the good old days. This diner is authentic, not a recreation of a diner or a chain restaurant. Have been twice for breakfast and everything was so delicious. Huge plates of pancakes & waffles, various eggs Benedict's, shredded home fries & home made breakfast sausage- all reasonably priced. My father order a hot chocolate and it came with a mountain of whipped cream- he loved it. The cheery decor and the excellent staff contributed to the good experience my family had. Homemade potato chips! So, eating here was unplanned but what a nice surprise it turned out to be. It was busy and the composition of eaters told me the food was going to be good. Lots of families and senior citizens - indicators of good food at reasonable prices. The menu had way too many options, but I'm a sucker for a good tuna fish opportunity. I could have had a wrap, salad or old-fashioned on wheat (standard or triple decker). Choice is good. I opted for the wheat sandwich which came with homemade potato chips, mini cup of slaw and a pickle. Sandwich was good, slaw was sweat and the pickle a bit rubbery. (Up your pickle game for us pickle lovers.....) The chips were divine - unsalted and not greasy at all. I regulated the salt, nice. But I couldn't keep my husband out of them. He opted for the gyro with fries, but took a shine to my chips. Fortunately, the portion was large enough for both of us and left no room for dessert. Another commendable was the side of tzatziki that came with husband's gyro sandwich. I have not enjoyed such a good tzatziki since I lived in Greece. It was smooth and creamy with just the right balance of garlic and cucumber. Rachael, our server, and the clean-up crew were very good, ensuring there was a clean booth ready for their fast turn over.
