We were traveling and decided to give this place a try. They have an extensive menu. Dany, our server was friendly enough, but service left something to be desired. People who were seated after us already had their food long before ours came. The holdup was my wife's eggplant parm, not my corned beef. She liked hers. The portions on the corned beef were no where near what we had in Philadelphia, but was high quality. I'd order it again. The homemade chips were the best part of the meal. I went to this place Friday night. I ordered a malted milkshake, vanilla, and some eggs and hashbrowns. While making my shake, the manager Chris finishes the shake after the waiter started it and then another waiter whose shift was done proceeded to drink my malted milk milkshake. He said oh was this for me or is this yours and I said yes it was mine and then my waiter had to make a new one. So that was a bad issue, the second issue is that while I was eating at the bar the manager stood in front of me, blew his nose and hocked a lugee into the tissue and then he went to the end of the bar and did the same thing really loud looking in my direction, he was at least a foot next to me. It was the grossest experience I've ever had at a restaurant. The manager Chris should be fired. He is gross and unhygienic. He didn't even wash his hands after he blew all that snot into the tissue with the lugee. I hope I don't get food poisoning because he also wiped the milkshake machine with his dirty ass hands with a rag that looked like it had been used to clean the counter. This place is crazy. Someone call the Maryland Department of Health cause this place is unsafe. read more

Homemade potato chips! So, eating here was unplanned but what a nice surprise it turned out to be. It was busy and the composition of eaters told me the food was going to be good. Lots of families and senior citizens - indicators of good food at reasonable prices. The menu had way too many options, but I'm a sucker for a good tuna fish opportunity. I could have had a wrap, salad or old-fashioned on wheat (standard or triple decker). Choice is good. I opted for the wheat sandwich which came with homemade potato chips, mini cup of slaw and a pickle. Sandwich was good, slaw was sweat and the pickle a bit rubbery. (Up your pickle game for us pickle lovers.....) The chips were divine - unsalted and not greasy at all. I regulated the salt, nice. But I couldn't keep my husband out of them. He opted for the gyro with fries, but took a shine to my chips. Fortunately, the portion was large enough for both of us and left no room for dessert. Another commendable was the side of tzatziki that came with husband's gyro sandwich. I have not enjoyed such a good tzatziki since I lived in Greece. It was smooth and creamy with just the right balance of garlic and cucumber. Rachael, our server, and the clean-up crew were very good, ensuring there was a clean booth ready for their fast turn over. Stopped by on the way to Cumberland on a Monday evening. We were not greeted but waited while the hostess and a waitress talked and counted money. Continued to wait for five minutes and I finally asked if we could seat ourselves. Nope. The hostess said she'd be with us shortly. After several more minutes she said they only had two servers and was not pleasant or apologetic. Can't comment on the food since my husband and I then left. Horrible. treated pretty poorly when i got here with my friend. the atmosphere was just off and we felt unwelcomed. i wanted to try this diner because it gave that 50s old school diner vibe and usually the food is typical diner food but the atmosphere around it just feels nice and old school. however, when i first walked in i was literally just standing by the hostess table as i waited 10 minutes for her to seat us even though she looked up at us and didnt even acknowledge us. once we finally did get seated, our waiter was passive aggressive and sat us way in the back by the bathrooms even though there were plenty of empty tables in the center of the restaurant. when my friend requested if it was possible to be seated by the windows, our waiter let out a very heavy sigh and said "if you HAVE TO" which i thought was incredibly rude like bruh ?? it was not an unreasonable request?? and then after that we got a new waiter who kept repeatedly asking if we were okay with our seats multiple times throughout. i didn't know asking to change tables was such a big deal. anyways, after that it we got our food and i ordered the veggie omelette with sausage and my friend ordered eggs, bacon, and pancakes. my omelette was really unflavorful so i had to douse it with ketchup and salt - same with my potatoes. then at the end, we never saw our waitress again so we stood up and my friend had to hunt her down to get the check from her. overall, AVOID THIS PLACE as they have awful service and very rude servers. i will never be coming back to this place again. read more

Large home style meals with generous entrees and side portions. Ordered take out from here and it was so good that I can't wait to return for a sit down meal. Food is prepared quickly and made fresh for the best possible temperature and taste. The liver and onions with bacon is slathered in a delicious beef gravy that is the perfect compliment to the heaping side of mashed potatoes. My take out container was so heavy I had to replate the dinner and still had plenty left for lunch the next day. I have been a customer here on again off again for twenty some years. Not much has changed except the food & pricing. Took the grandchildren Wednesday afternoon for lunch. Prices have gone up in a year 30%. Spaghetti was horrid, grandsons was cold w some inferior warm marinara on it, Isabella was charged $2.00 more to have meat sauce instead of marinara at a whopping $16.00 for what is cheap to make food. I'm Italian & this a horrible example. My hamburger & granddaughters had near to raw fried onions on a small tasteless burger, definitely not worth $15.00. Very, very disappointed. We have been regulars at Mt. View since the early 90's. The food is very good and the proportions large. However, yeasterday while waiting for my take out order I was right behind the cooks' serving shelf. I saw the manager? (with a red name plate) standing right over several plates of food that were waiting to be served. He coughed a smokers phlem cough over the three plates. My family and I decided to try this restaurant after the lifeguard at our apartment complex mentioned that they had great blueberry pancakes. I'm a huge "pancake head" so of course, I had to check it out. In the past, when we've driven past this place it's always been busy. However, I'll just say the food was okay. The pancakes weren't bad. I prefer Silver Diner's pancake and food in comparison now that I've tried this place. The bacon didn't taste fresh, and something about it I didn't particularly care for. I ended up not eating the bacon. My pancakes were filling and my egg were good too. On the "upside" Frances our waitress was pleasant and friendly! I also loved the 1950's throwback theme! I think that you either love this place or you don't, and if you love it you've been coming here for a long time, and it's your "go to" spot for old school dining. Classic diner with a large menu and a bunch of specials. You don't come to a diner for the ribs or the steak or even the rotisserie chicken. It's omelets and cheeseburgers and pancakes and bacon.. Quickly seated at a table, my eye went right to the "triple decker sandwich" and that's what I ordered, the one with sliced turkey. It didn't take long to be prepared and arrive at my table. It was exactly what it's supposed to be, sliced bread (I chose rye) with lettuce and tomato and bacon, cut into diagonal quarters and served with fries. Perfect. Disclaimer: I love a good diner. I LOVED Mountain View Diner in Frederick, MD! I had the German Styled Potato Pancakes. Just right with onions and parsley--just like my German mom used to make. Served with applesauce (and sour cream if you prefer) delicious! My husband had banana pecan pancakes--and he loved every bite. Coffee and tea were hot and good (tea is basic Lipton's--but with good hot water it tasted fine) I will definitely come here again the next time we pass through on US-15 in Frederick. Stopped here on the way back from D.C. More than anything, it's the service that gets the 4 stars. Our server was appropriately attentive and she even came by to let us know that, though we were waiting a bit for our food, it would be out in a few minutes, that the fried chicken was what was holding up our order, but that it would be worth the wait. You know what? She was right. It was moist and the outer layer was nice and crunchy. (That was my husband's dish.) I chose the fried shrimp basket with fries and it was abundant and good. As others have indicated, you eat all that just to get to the dessert. When we walked in, the display case looked so yummy with cake and cheesecakes. So, after we were through with our meal we ordered a slice of carrot cake and marbled cheesecake to go. Later than evening we unwrapped and ate part of them. The portions are huge! And taste? MMmmmmm... every bit as good as they looked. One more tidbit about service -- I just happened to engage in conversation with another server in the women's restroom and found her to be a happy employee who was glad to hear we had liked their food. She indicated she had come to appreciate the diner's food even more after having become an employee and seeing what care they took with all the homemade food there. Since I was in the area and needed breakfast, I stopped by. Wow, there was a line since it was Mother's Day, I guess. The good news is, we were greeted very warmly and were seated quite quickly. Our server was as nice as she could be. She brought our drinks out promptly and made us feel at home. Food took longer than we expected, but I understand because of the crowd. When we got it though, it was worth it. I got the steak and eggs with grits and wheat toast with butter. I ate everything but the grits, only because a sista's trying to cut down on carbs. The steak was cooked med rare as requested and was surprisingly flavorful. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the toast was good, of course. Am I going out of my way to go to a diner? The Mountain View Diner in Frederick has great food and prices. Service is good , most of the time. They have a tall male waiter that is only so so. My chopped steak came out hot, the two vegetables barely warm. he does not bring bread or ask if you want it. I also ordered chili, to go. All I got was chili and crackers, no napkins or spoon. A few of us got together for lunch on 4/26/24. There was initially to be 5 in our party. Our party grew to be 9. The wait staff quickly brought over another table and chairs. The food was amazing, the service was great, and the atmosphere was "home". What turned out to be a lunch meeting turned out to be much more and longer. We were there for 4 hours, the waitress kept up with us all. Very friendly and answered questions about the food. We never had the feeling of being rushed out the door once food was served and plates taken. Highly recommend. Prices are great and be ready to take some home as the portions are far from skimpy.
