People LOVE this sandwich shop with beach vibes surrounded by office buildings in Frederick, Maryland. They used to have two locations in D.C. which both closed. We went for a Friday dinner and found it just to be okay. Here's why: 1) Food: The menu is very big, but little stood out. My wife's chicken wings were lacking flavor as was my "Haight Ashbury" sandwich. The ratio to bread was way off and the sprouts drowned out flavor. Being used to Mangialardo's in D.C., we were disappointed in a.k.a Firscos' sandwiches. Our daughter found the kid menu lacking, but she did love the cookie and juice it comes with. 2) Service: The people taking out sandwich orders were not friendly at all and it took around 30 minutes for us to get our food. That said, the man at the register was awesome! 3) Space: The vibes are unique and we appreciated their outdoor seating. 4) Beer: They have an excellent beer wall that includes ciders and sours. Ask the man at the register for recommendations. Since people seem to love it, we will need to go back. Maybe it was an off day. read more

A hidden gem in Frederick. Great food great atmosphere. I've never been disappointed by eating here.

Great food , service , and atmosphere! Highly recommended!!' Located at the far end of a large shopping area so we were surprised at the location but won over by the amazing food and service . Lots of great drink selections if that is your bag but we were there for the food and loved it ! read more

I've gotten food from them three times. Each time, the food was just.. okay. Here's what I had: 1. Steak sandwich. It sounded so yummy and it said that it came with steak sauce on top - but when I opened the container there was no sauce at all. I ate the sandwich anyway because I was starving, and the steak was honestly really good, it was just missing the sauce! 2. Chicken salad bowl. This may come down to individual taste, but I did not care for the chicken salad. It was kind of dry and flavorless. My partner gets the chicken salad in sandwich form and he loves it. 3. Lombardo (I think I spelled it right) sandwich. Again this may be individual taste, but I thought this sandwich was lackluster. I don't remember if it was the peppers, lack of sauce, or the quality of the meat, but it was not very good. Overall, I think the sandwiches are lacking in sauce or something to tie the sandwich together and make it less dry. I'm hoping they just messed up my steak sandwich and forgot the sauce because it was honestly good quality steak. Maybe I'll try them again and inquire about the steak sauce. read more

I ordered through Grub Hub for delivery today and it was timely and arrived earlier than expected by Jay. I love aka Friscos because they have fresh, large salads, sandwiches and their exploded potatoes are awesome! Definitely a Frederick local fav when you want a casual bite to eat. Today I ordered the wings, the Friscos Cobb, and a side order of exploded potatoes. Always consistent, fresh and delicious! read more

What a hidden (business park) gem! This past weekend while visiting Fredrick Maryland, we found this place thanks to Yelp. And I had the BEST turkey sandwich I've ever had! I also got their smashed potatoes which is literally all the great things about a loaded baked potato, smashed into one. They are definitely open during Covid and everyone was very friendly and the service was speedy. They also have a very large selection of specialty beers and kombucha. I love this place and will be back! read more

Really really wanted to love this place. Overall, the food was good. We got the Italian and the Alcatraz as well as some exploding potatoes and Mac & cheese. The service was pretty abysmal, we were behind one couple who expressed they had already waited 5 minutes to order and we were all still waiting a good 10 min beyond that. The restaurant wasn't very busy and there were 4 employees behind the counter, but perhaps they were busy with takeout or deliver orders? Either way, it definitely doesn't hurt to let the people in line know that you'll be with them momentarily. The guy working at the bar couldn't have been less helpful, but whatever. Then they forgot our Mac n cheese, but eventually brought it out. It wasn't that great anyway. The potatoes were good, it's definitely a very clever way to use up the unsold baked potatoes from the day or two before. The Italian was good, but the dressing tasted like straight vinegar so it kind of overpowered the rest but the meat and veggies seems fresh and plentiful. We would possibly stop back if we were hungry and in the area but it def won't make the "destination location" criteria for when we are craving really good food. I'd like to try more of the menu and hopefully catch the staff on a better day before fully deciding. read more

This is a really cool spot located in a unique area. The service was top notch and I ended up getting a beer while waiting for my sandwich to be made. The Oakland is a great sandwich and very thick. The sandwiches are definitely top notch here and I plan on making this a regular spot. read more

This place is located in the middle of nowhere Frederick but it's so worth the drive. Lol. Hands down they have the best baked potatoes in Maryland. Today I had the steak baked potato and now I'm ready for a nap. Honestly the picture I took does the food no justice, you have to try it to believe me. We also got a steak salad which is also large in portion size and tasty. The menu has something for everyone. Veggie lovers included. I need to try one of their sandwiches because I've heard great things about those as well. Will most certainly be back. read more

Good salad, too much to choose from. Stopped here during the week and got a chicken salad. The salad was great and well seasoned. I knocked it down one star because of the general confusion when ordering. The menu is soo big that it takes awhile to figure out what you want the first time. I ultimately chose the chicken salad because it sounded like the safest option. Another thing I noticed while using the restroom was a worker use the restroom and not wash her hands, so that was unnerving. read more

This is a great place for young adults who don't know or don't care about good food. My husband and I (senior citizens) came for a late lunch, around 2:30 on a Tuesday. The man in the kiosk explained the ordering process and gave us 4 laminated pages, each representing a section of the menu and said we could refer to them or to a menu board overhead. Working our way thru the bulky and bent pages was confusing. The board was also confusing, only because it was high overhead and in an area where there wasn't much room to stand. The husband ordered a steak sandwich on salad greens. I ordered the Santa Fe potato. The man in the kiosk was helpful and friendly. The cashier was civil and almost completely disengaged. Eye contact once and a returned smile to my smile, but otherwise seemed disinterested in enhancing my lunch experience. The restaurant serves the food in aluminum bowls. No problem there, but when I touched my bowl, it was ice cold. The salad greens were fine, but the steak looked like it had been reheated. At least once. My husband said the quality was fine given the price, but over-spiced. The potato arrived barely warm and it was completely cold by the time I finished. The chicken was so shredded it looked like what I feed the cat. The taste suggested it was wanna be authentic, but not quite there yet. The salsa was tasty, but the entire dish was smothered in it. Salsa is a garnish or something to be added in at the eater's choice. the entire dish was topped by thin and runny sour cream. The server gave us two plastic forks and one knife and a ton of napkins. The bottled beer was good. read more

Service was good. My potato was good but could've been better if I ate it while it was hot still. I had a long drive. The place has a nice feel and lots of seating for the family. Even a bar area. read more

If I could give 3.5 or 3.7 stars I would. We enjoyed our experience. The process is a little unique, you order food first and then go to a separate counter for drinks and to pay. We really liked the trans am. The alcatraz was just okay. Needed more of the honey mustard in my opinion. The hot potato salad was just okay as well. My parents absolutely loved it. Overall a good experience, just not quite a 4 or 5 star in my opinion read more

Hit or miss nowadays and depends on who is preparing the food. I've been going to Friscos for many many years, but today was my last time. I really hate to give two stars as it has been very good in the past, but with the cost of eating out going up, I can't recommend anymore. I got the Lombard and after a couple of bites realized that there was way to much sea-salt on it and returned it to the counter. The person said, 'do you want me to make you another?' I declined. Would have been nice if they offered a refund. Didn't seem like anyone cared too much. Consistency has always been a problem here, but it never caused a bad result...until now. Oh well. It was good while it lasted. read more

~Note for my memory; poi's I'll useful for you Ambiance inside is comfortable. Tables and booths, not overly packed. Large selection of beers and a massive menu of sandwiches, salads, baked potatoes, and some other items that all look good. She got the Alcatraz; I got the Oakland. Both toasted. Despite being large, both are light and were delicious. Great lunches that gave us half a sandwich leftover. An unexpected observation was that the bread was toasted but the sandwich itself was not so the warmth of the bread was cut by the cold meat. A very good sandwich but I would have preferred the entire sandwich warm. That may be possible and wasn't due to my ignorance. Will return. read more

Everything is always so delicious here. The loaded potatoes are incredible and so are their sandwiches. The ambiance is lively since it's usually packed whenever I go. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly and prompt service, great food. It's a little out of the way and tucked away. You can get takeout as well through the other entrance. Overall, highly recommended! read more

Been going here for 20+ years. Live in Montgomery County now so do not get here as often. Still a winner.

One of my comfort spots, I have been coming to Friscos for years and I have never been disappointed by anything on their menu. The vibe is good given the out of the way location, and being able to browse the wine and beer selection while you wait for your food is a real treat as well. read more

It's hard to describe what kind of motif they are going for inside...it's just something you have to experience for yourself. That being said, this place just goes to show you can decorate the inside of a place however you want and as long as the food is good, prices are fair, and you have something unique to offer any restaurant can survive. The sandwiches are large and in charge and very fairly priced. They have smashed baked potatoes with all kinds of toppings. They are big and a meal in themselves so don't think you are going to get a sandwich and a baked potato in one meal and be able to finish it lest your name be Joey Chestnut. There is an attached brewery and they have beer on the food side so you can have a brew with your food if you choose. Go in and find your favorite combo! read more

The flat iron steak and exploded potato are the best, always a favorite. Great service with easy eats

Great food. Huge variety. Something for everyone. I had a sandwich which was unique and tasty. My coworker had a salad that he loved. We came during lunch. The service was also fantastic - short order line and food was made quickly. read more

First, the food we ordered was absolutely delicious! We both ordered the salad with beans, rice, Quinoa, fresh spinach, avocado all wonderfully spiced with cheese melted on top. The odd thing is they don't serve coffee and it was kind of chilly in the restaurant. Luckily they had some hot green tea. Since it was our first visit, ordering was kind of confusing. But everyone was friendly and nice. Hopefully, if we visit again, they will let us BYOT, bring your own thermos of coffee! read more

Came back during Covid times. I was disappointed in the items that we got. I was impressed with the cleanliness. They had gloves for people and a very thorough set up in regards to Covid. The staff that we had to interact with was also very pleasant. We got a fat boy, a barbecue sandwich and The Ashberry. Also got mac & cheese and chili I think? Overall all of the items that we received were under seasoned and mediocre. The mac & cheese was penne pasta which I'm not a fan of, and then probably Velveeta or American cheese because it was bright orange. In desperate need of pepper. The fat boy sandwich Was also a little dry and bland. I added more of the space oil to it and it did not help. Way too much lettuce. Barbecue sandwich was also in need of seasoning. The Ashberry was OK but way too much sprouts. The chili was all right. Got a couple of sodas from the pop shop which are cool. Overall I don't think I'll return. read more

Don't let the industrial complex location fool you because this place is a hidden gem! We came here on a recent stormy afternoon and were blown away by the experience. It might just be my thing but I dig the warehouse feel of the interior with super high ceilings and a beach vibe - so unexpected before waking in! ++ Curry chicken sandwich: there's a name for this, but the bottom line is that it was delicious, and the sprouts had this extra stuff in the seasoning that sent a tingling sensation (in a good way!) on my tongue with each bite...heaven! Exploded potato: clever. An awesome alternative to fries or chips, this potato was buttery smooth and perfectly seasoned as an accompaniment to the 5-star sandwich Fast service and casual vibe, and the rainstorm added to the experience. Long live Friscos! read more

This place is AyyyyMayyyZing! I have yet to try anything that I haven't liked. Whenever family and/or friends visit from out of town and we need a great lunch spot or just a consistently good tasting place, Friscos is one of our go-to's. A lot of the menu items make references to one of the greatest cities in the US/World...San Francisco. If you've never had their exploded potatoes....make sure you definitely order some. They're life changing. That being said, any of their potatoes will blow your mind. I decided to pay Friscos a visit during the Covid-19 pandemic and pickup was extremely safe with safe spacing markers on the ground to maintain appropriate social distancing. This visit my family and I ordered their Mild Wings (well done), a Skinny Green Pizza (add Bacon...duh), and one of my 4 favorite sandwiches (yes it's possible to have 4 favorites) the Trans Am. I hope this place sticks around FOREVER!!! read more

I came here with my dad and we had a great lunch!! Between the two of us, we had the following: Tuna sandwich - delicious, flavorful! Tuna was not too heavy on mayo, which I appreciated. Sausalito - this was also delicious Veggie and hummus - 4 dipping sauces were great, everything was very fresh. The only random thing is that it comes with a bunch of lettuce, so then we ate some of it like a salad. Golden gate sandwich - this was also delicious and flavorful! All of the veggies were extremely fresh. I'm still craving this sandwich as I write this review. We also ordered a jar of their hot sauce, which is delicious!! I went through the entire jar within a week! Overall, this is a wonderful lunch spot!! read more

I come here occasionally because they have great sandwiches and I love their exploded potatoes. It's always tough to choose what to order, but today I got the San Bruno, curried chicken sandwich on sourdough minus sprouts. This was the first sandwich I got the first time here and was the reason I love this place. Today, however, is wasn't very flavorful at all. Very little curry and pretty dry; hopefully just an off day. The potatoes were on point, as always. Will still continue to return, hopefully with better results next time. read more

When we lived in Frederick we ate here kinda "frequently." The seating is endless (important on their busy days) and service is pleasant! I loooove their salads, honey mustard dressing is a must! Food is good but unfortunately they use a lot of different kinds of peppers in almost every food item due to a food allergy I've gotten sick almost every time I've eaten here no matter what I ordered despite peppers not being noted on the item description in the menu.
