This place is outstanding! Great service! Awesome food. I had the bistro steak with wild boar bolognese, the quinoa salad, and the glazed carrots. Everything was flavorful and the steak was cooked perfectly. My husband had the holy pork shank, the smashed potatoes, and a house salad. He said the salad was the best he's ever had. His pork shank was beautifully cooked and fell off the bone. Everything came out hot and delicious. We can't wait to go back and try different dishes. read more

Creative sandwiches but didn't try the entrees. Max was energetic and friendly and made us feel like regulars. We had the ban mi and ham brisket. Definitely enjoyed the veggie sides instead of traditional fries. Solid beer selection helped make the experience. Wish I lived closer as this is a great neighborhood pub. read more

My wife and I had the crab dip. It was a generous portion and tasted amazing. We met both owners who said they took over in January. Their goal is to provide fresh ingredients and provide an overall better experience than in years past. Staff was extremely friendly and attentive. We were provided with a sample of a fresh soup and dessert, which were both amazing. This was our first time here and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We will be back! read more

I would like to say nice things about this place, but I can't. I've gone in a handful of times and everytime the service is horrible. I've never had the chance to eat because the service is so bad I leave. Tonight was the last try. My fiance and I went in with intentions of having drinks and dinner but we were completely ignored. Literally. We walked in, the owner Jeff made eye contact with us. Proceeded to text on his phone, then go back to the kitchen and discuss the text he sent. Unbelievable. We sat there for almost 10 minutes. Look if you don't want our money. That's fine. You won't get it. But when you run your business like a frat party, you WILL eventually fail!!! Frederick is a small town and word will spread. But I will say that everytime I go in all the white people have drinks, my black fiance and I are lacking. You read into that what you will. read more

I have come here several times with one of my children (for date night with Dad) and have always had a good experience. Good food and a nice place to just kick back. Good beer choices. read more

This place is small but I promise you won't be upset won't be food or service! Some of the best food I've ever had for the price

Siri basically picked roasthouse pub for us tonight. We did not know what to expect. Our server was very pleasant and had our drinks to us right away. Lots of different beers to choose from along with a full bar. We started with a platter of duck pastrami with crackers and Brie Cheese. The presentation was beautiful, the pastrami delicious. For the main courses we ordered was pork belly tacos, pork shank and wild boar bangers and mash. Our entrees came out in a timely manner and well presented. The food was delicious, way beyond what we expected. Even the side salad was very well done, mixed greens, pecans, some fruit and a tasty dressing. We finished dinner with a great raspberry cheesecake. The quality of this meal and the menu reflect a much more sophisticated place then the cost charged. We will be back. read more

Great service, unique food that is always delicious. Awesome beer and cider menu. Even gluten free items in the menu!

The beer selection and the quality of the food can not be beat, and prices are similar to other places with much lower quality. My only complaint is that they don't have a good side order option to go with their sandwiches. While I don't care that they don't have French fries (no friers here!), vegetables or herbed potatoes just don't work for me with a burger. I wish they did kettle chips or something crispy to go with them. I usually get the salad as my side and it is amazing! read more

Amazing food, especially the jalapeño bacon brownies. The wait staff were awesome, friendly and fun. You have to try this place

Before we moved away from Frederick, this was THE ONLY place we'd go for beer. How can you pass up such an excellent rotating menu? This place is tinier than it should be, but its a great spot to hang out. We never had trouble getting a table, and man is it always worth the 5 minute wait. They have something for everyone on their beer AND food menu. It's pretty hard to find vegetarian fare outside of Nola (thats not a salad), but this place has THE BEST Maryland Dogs ever (vegetarian hot dog optional)!!! Whenever we go back to visit, we always meet Frederick friends at Roasthouse. I also recommend the soup du jour, it's the soup of the day. Can you guys open up a place in Boulder, Colorado sometime soon!? :) read more

My husband and I have been there a few times and every time the food/beer/service is the best! People are super friendly and they know about their beers! read more

Nice gastropub menu, good craft beers - BUT it's usually crowded, and they close early.

Four sections to the review: food & beer, service, price, ambiance Food & Beer: Both get two thumbs up. The menu choices were a little off the beaten path, different in a good way. We started with a banana pepper appetizer, very good, quality bacon, but it was way more spicy than the menu write-up suggested. We ordered the Baked Fish Taco's, a Beet salad and a side of macaroni and cheese. The tacos were excellent (definitely get then again!), fresh fish (although small portion of fish per taco), genuine corn and bean salsa, and fresh tortilla shells. The red coleslaw served with the tacos did not taste fresh - maybe we just prefer the creamy mayo style. The salad was of a good portion with half an avocado in one corner, beets on another and goat cheese dollops in the 3rd, all topped with that good bacon. The macaroni and cheese was interesting - appeared deep fried and very crunchy exterior. Probably should explain to customers before they order. We had 3 different beers and two samples. They were good, and I enjoyed the variety. But I did not land a favorite that compelled me to have another. Dessert was a peanut butter cheesecake which was very good. My impression is it was made elsewhere, but I don't care about that (My daughter has to have dessert). The chocolate on the top was too thick to cut easily with a fork, the cheesecake was almost too dense to cut and the frothy ice cream on the side was, well... frothy. Maybe it wasn't ice cream? Price: Need some work here. Our bill was $90.00, which included the tip. It is what it is. But I was left feeling like I was nickel and dimed. When menu items are expensive (given the venue) things like bread for the salad ought to be free! When the beer is expensive, the price for the tastings should be credited if the customer buys the beer. If not that, then find some way that price is not an issue for samples. Come on man, spending $18.00 for 3 beers and you're going to charge me to see what I like?? Service: Very good. Not overbearing, not missing in action. Friendly and generally knowledgeable. Ambiance: For what was the old Buck-eye greasy spoon, this place was well lit, clean and comfortable, but cold. After watching several patrons and waitresses turn off AC vents, we requested they turn off the AC. Booths were oversized which is great; consider putting a cushions on seat of the benches. Noise level high, but appropriate. Overall a great experience, we will return. read more

Had lunch yesterday and it was wonderful. We had the jerk tacos and the glazed pork brisket sandwich with jalapeño bacon. Our server, Luke, was very nice. Great beer to go with the food. Two thumbs WAY UP! read more

Found this place by looking on yelp. Great find ! Amazing beer selection and food was excellent. Owners are great and service was excellent. read more

This was an unexpected find. I had the blackened and glazed salmon. The glaze was a pomegranate reduction and served over southwestern quinoa salad. The pairing went very well together. I also chose sautéed Brussels sprouts as my side. They were so good, I could have just eaten those as a meal. If you live here in Fredrick or just passing through like I was, this is a must visit. They also have a great craft beer selection. read more

Love this place! The food is excellent, probably the best crab cake I have ever had. Pork sliders were on the menu last night and they were great, very tender and the BBQ sauce was excellent. Twenty different craft beers on tap so it's easy to find something to fit your tastes. Servers are little slow to clear plates but overall a great experience. read more

My husband and I went to Roasthouse Pub for dinner last Friday and were pretty impressed. We both got roasted dinners- him: beef, me: pork. The meat was pretty tasty, in a home-cooking sort of way. They did a nice job on the gravy. But, what really impressed us were the sides. The sweet potato side was amazing, as were the roasted potatoes. Very flavorful and delicious. As for portion size, to me they seemed to be just right. Personally I find it a welcome change to have a regular-sized dinner portion compared to a lot of other restaurants which give way too much food. Also, I am a big fan of beer, and enjoy that you can try a fairly wide variety of beer there. We will be going back, for sure. read more

I have been to Roast House many times and read the reviews on Yelp before deciding to post my own review. If you love beer the amazing rotating beer selection makes RH a must visit. They post an updated beer list every few days on Facebook and Twitter. Last night alone I had 2 beers rated 99 by Beer Advocate. They do not have any mass market beers, but I have always found the bar tenders to be knowledgeable and helpful in picking a beer to match my pallet. The prime rib french dip is a great sandwich. The prime rib is so tender they cut into small cubes instead of thin slices. I didn't think I liked brussel sprouts until I tried their version with bacon. The prime rib dinner on weekends is Fred Flintstone sized. 2 people can easily share it. The wings are my favorite in the Frederick area and are served with creative sauces that rotate daily. The bread pudding is terrific and also giant sized. The small parking lot is an issue during peak times, but you can park at Lowes and walk.. read more

Very quaint atmosphere with a menu full of variety. I have enjoyed everything I've tried . Crab dip is amazing! Beer selection is unbeatable with a knowledgeable crew eager to help u make the right choice. This has become a regular destination for us. read more

I went here a couple of weeks ago with friends after a hike. What a find! Menu had interesting selections-something for everyone and some healthier options. I loved the salmon salad. Salmon was tender and seasoned well. Great selection of craft beers. We had little samples of several. Will go back again. read more

This place is great. The beer selection is to die for, especially if you follow beers and breweries. The food is so good, and the atmosphere is very comfortable. I love going here. The servers are friendly and accommodating but I feel that if they were more knowledgeable they could do a better job, but other than that this place is exceptional--a real must-try and a great experience. The place is fun too. The food specials are unique, exciting, and very good, and I anticipate what beers they will next put on their extensive 20 pour tap. read more

Wings and Mac and Cheese were good until I found a hair in a wing. Lovely watching a drunk guy on a Sunday afternoon being over served. Service was ok. read more

Would like to eat here but... showed up on a Tuesday evening and were told the place was "closed for a private beer dinner". The server wasn't even particularly apologetic about it... read more

I will say the beer selection here is amazing. Lots of beer in every style, I had a stout that was perfect. That being said the food is okay, I ordered the french dip, and the meat was over cooked and instead of Au Jus sauce for dipping they gave me beef broth?!?!?!? My boyfriend got a burger and the burger was okay, the avocado in it wasn't quite ripe enough, so the flavors weren't there. In all this is a great place for beer, probably won't do dinner here again. read more

Easily my favorite restaurant! This place is amazing. Every time I eat here there is a new burger of the day which is always cooked perfectly. They also have a large variety of other foods. My fiancée loves their crab cakes, and one time when we went in, they had an appetizer with kangaroo meat! They have 20 beers on tap that constantly rotate. I love how they also have some local favorites like flying dog, and also some craft beers you may have never tried before! They also have some of the best desserts in town. One time, I had a donut bread pudding. I was in heaven! I don't recommend places too often, but this is one that I will tell people to visit for the rest of my life. I have never had a problem with the staff, in fact I have had the server Marcus many times when I visit. He is very knowledgeable in beers, and I go frequently enough that he even remembers the styles I like when I ask for a recommendation sometimes. They have some special beer dinners too that I have seen, but unfortunately, I have not had a chance to go to one yet. If you visit Frederick, you MUST go and eat here! read more

I've found the food to be over peppered consistently and the portions small for the price. This is definitely more of a lunch place than dinner. The menu is pretty limited and none if it imaginative. The beer selection is wide, but that's about it. read more

Great little spot! Had been wanting to go here for awhile but just made it out there for first time today. 5 stars all around. Great staff - very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Great atmosphere. Food selection was impressive, priced fairly, and good portion sizes. Beer selection seems to rotate often and have a good variety - staff made excellent suggestions. Will definitely be back and often! Give this place a try - you will not regret it!! read more

Crowd of 8 how do you not have crown royal and run out of jack Daniels and Jim bean ???? But the food was great but service was a lil slow

KIck ass rotating tap selection. Victory, Hebrew, Flying Dog. Good info on the walls for novices, ABV, serving size and beer style. Would like if they added IBU for the hop heads. Cool staff (don't ask for the stout) Great food, Wings are baked so that was a new one but great flavor. French dip was killer as well as the queso. It's got a great bite, not for people that don't like spice. Don't let the outward appearance fool you. This is a cool place with great beer. read more

Best veggie burger we've ever had. The beers on tap are always top notch too. I've also tried their burger of the day, which was a BBBQ (Beer Bacon BBQ) burger, and it was one of the best burgers I've had. read more

Awesome place for a bite and a beer. Love the craft beer on tap and the small atmosphere. Brussel Sprouts are awesome and the French Dip is my favorite. Menu doesn't really change. If it was more seasonal I would visit more often. You need to be in the mood for roasted food to visit. read more

I'm going with 4 but would be a 3 and a half if available. Fantastic beers and their vegetarian options are refreshing and really excellent. The boar sausage and mash was only ok but they made an effort to accommodate the kids which was appreciated. I was disappointed that at 1pm on a Sunday three items were unavailable when it is already a small menu. We will definitely go there again so therefore I am happy to give the 4 stars read more

The Best taphouse in the area. Twenty ever-changing beers on tap and excellent bartenders. The food is eh and definitely overpriced, but the beer experience is worth it. The regulars are fun and mostly beer aficionados, so if you are a beer enthusiast you won't find a better place to sit down and have a couple. Try making up your own flight - only 75 cents a full shot glass, you can try as many as you like! read more

The Roasthouse Pub has been our go-to place when in Frederick for over a year. The patrons at the bar are always friendly. The service is also both friendly, and knowledgeable about the food and extensive craft beer menus. This is a craft beer snob's heaven, but don't let them fool you, they have some popular cans hidden in the coolers, too. The food is exceptional quality, and alway fresh. We will be moving to Frederick next month and we will frequent this pub on a regular basis. read more

This was our first visit and I had such high hopes, based on the menu on their website and good reviews by a few. Sadly, our experience was lacking. Went on a Sunday afternoon. The place was pretty full and there was a large party, so perhaps that added to the sloowww service. Our server was great, though, even when apologizing for the numerous menu items not available, including soup! How can you be out of soup at 2pm? My sweetie ordered the French dip sandwich and I ordered the Beet It salad. My sweetie thought the meat in the sandwich was a little suspect - hadn't seen prime rib done as big junks; thought it might be a substitution. But, he said it was tasty and liked the roasted potato side. My Beet It salad was a disappointment because it had all my favorite things - avocado, goat cheese, roasted beets, grape tomatoes, but not fully executed. The avocado was unripe (rubbery - eww), cherry tomatoes instead of grape, beets that hadn't been roasted quite long enough, and too little bacon for the extra $2 paid to add it. When I mentioned the unripe avocado issue to a different server, she just shrugged her shoulders and offered that it might not be the season for avocados. Obviously someone not familiar with avocado. On the other hand, the salad greens were very fresh, goat cheese was good, and I liked the salad dressing. A couple of other things I found odd were the menus and the salt/pepper shakers. The menu came in one of those hardboard covers that are used at fancy-shmancy restaurants; they need to go. Get real, it's a pub. The salt/pepper shakers were actually spice bottles with one side for pouring out the contents and the other with large holes for shaking during cooking. The choice seemed odd. Or maybe they know their food is typically too bland (per previous reviewers) and are just making it easy for the customer. :-) So, bottom line, sounds like the owners are still struggling with operations. Shouldn't be out of so many menu items early in the day. And, somebody needs to either know how to tell if an avocado is ripe or do a little better advance planning to ensure there are ripe avocados every day. read more

Awesome food and awesome beer. This place is a must for any beer lover. Only had the crab dip last night but it was legit. Filled with crab and a kick. Beers are top-notch. I will be back very soon. Well done, Roasthouse!! read more

Very diverse selection of beer on tap! The only problem is the turnover from the small kegs is very high on a busy night. By the time you want to try or have had one pint, the keg can be kicked and exchanged for something else (which is both good and bad!). The menu is interesting with many well made items. We tried the rabbit confit, which was especially tasty. Worth a visit, but don't expect quiet in this compact place. read more
