Chicken 'N' Waffles
Eileen M.

Honestly was a very average experience. Chicken and waffles was very good 10/10 I recommend, but my hash was just ok. Besides that, we were seated very quick even with a large party (10 people) and the server was very nice and on it. Food overall again was average but I recommend the chicken and waffles !

I recently came down to Long Beach to visit a friend, and we decided to have brunch at The Pan. The restaurant has a really cute, classic diner feel inside, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The service was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. There was about a 30 minute wait since they don't take reservations, but it was definitely worth it. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals, and no one had any issues with their food. I ordered the stuffed French toast, and it was absolutely amazing...easily one of the best brunch items I've had in a long time. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely come back the next time I'm in the area. 10/10 recommend!

Finally, I was able to try the pan! It's always busy and people outside so I don't even bother to wait lol but I came for my birthday and I enjoyed the food . So many options to choose from and I will come back again . The inside reminds me of the burger joints you see on tv . The staff was friendly and the place was clean.

This place literally has it all! Great service, food, cleanliness, stiff drinks and bingo. We are definitely coming back.

Ambiance: Very colorful, designed like a mom & pop breakfast spot. Service: I was disappointed with the service provided, our waitress was nice but she failed to come check on our party. We literally had to get up to find her. In addition, she let our plates pile up and forgot items that we ordered. Food: All pancakes were dry and hard to cut. Omelette was not seasoned, however the orange juice was freshly squeezed, and the fried battered chicken was delicious! I may give The Pan another try.

The "Original" Loaded Hash Browns

Located on Del Amo Blvd and Long Beach Blvd, this location is quite popular and was crowded when I visited - Wednesday mid-morning. There is a parking lot behind the restaurant that unfortunately was full which required us to wait 5 or so mins for someone to leave. Our party of 3 had a 30min wait for a table so we opted to sit at the counter. We were greeted right away with menus from our server. She took our drink and food order right away and our items were actually delivered in a timely manner. We chose The Lumberjack ($20) which comes with two buttermilk pancakes, two eggs any style, two bacon strips, two sausages, and house potatoes. You do have the option to upgrade to a specialty pancake or waffle for an additional $2. Portions are generous and everything was cooked perfectly, including the over-easy eggs. We opted for hash browns instead of house potatoes. Hash browns were crispy and what I really appreciated was the bacon was cooked thoroughly - no fatty pieces like how a lot of other places serve. The PANCAKES, oh my goodness! They are SO. FRICKEN. DELICIOUS. They were fluffy, buttery, and just the right amount of sweetness - these are a must try! Two pancakes and a scoop of butter - my absolute favorite item of the whole meal. We also chose the "Original" Loaded Hash Browns ($18) which is two eggs any style served on top of hash browns, bacon, sausage, and sprinkled with jack and cheddar cheese and topped with sour cream, green onions, and thennnnn, drizzled with chili aioli. Greasy, meaty, goodness! It is a lot of food for the price so make sure to come hungry. Overall, this place is quite popular as I remember like 8 or so years ago they only had like one location in Gardena and now we're up to 5! Service wasn't great at the end. We never were checked on by our initial server who took our order after the food was delivered and we waited 10 or so mins once we were done eating to get a to-go box and our check. I had to get up and approach the service area to finally close out my bill. I do know that every place in every type of industry (food, hospitality, hospitals, etc.) are understaffed but what I didn't like was there were other staff members standing around. IMO, they could circulate and fill in gaps with service - such as, clearing tables, refilling beverages, asking if tables needed anything - things to help out the servers! Delicious food options but don't visit if you're in a rush!

The wait here was quite long even on a weekday afternoon. The party in front of us actually spoke to the manager because the hostess was quite rude and dismissive to him regarding the wait and any information about that.  Once I got sat and actually ate, it was your standard kitschy brunch spot. What I got: Pastrami Fries, Biscuits and Gravy, Loaded Hashbrowns. Everything was fine. Again, it looks and tastes like every other brunch spot in California. I don;t really like breakfast/brunch food like that, but it really was just fine.  I'm assuming that you could get similar levels of food for less of a wait at other places, so I would probably just recommend your favorite local diner. This was good if you have a bit of time to kill with your party. Nothing special though.

The Pan is truly a family favorite place to eat. The service, cleanliness and atmosphere is excellent. The staff is super friendly and very welcoming. As busy as it may seem there's very little wait time. The portions are great. The food is flavorful .

The vibes in here are so cute. I really enjoyed the Beach aesthetics and they even had bingo so we got to play as we were finishing our meal it was so fun. The customer service was excellent. Very attentive and friendly. The food was so delicious. The chilaquiles were soooo good. I was very impressed. The French toast was alright, not sure I would get it again. We also got pizza to go and the sauce was saucing. Definitely recommend this place!

I give this place a 10/10, and here's why. The Pan is officially one of my new favorite local breakfast spots. I've been looking for a good American-style breakfast place with a Southern touch, and this place absolutely delivered. First off, parking is easy because they have their own lot, already a win in Long Beach. The inside has a modern rustic diner vibe that feels cozy, clean, spacious, and welcoming without feeling overcrowded. I went on a Saturday morning around 9:30 AM, and although it was busy, the wait wasn't bad at all. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered the vanilla latte and the shrimp and grits, and let me just say... the shrimp and grits were . Creamy, cheesy, flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and the portion size was generous enough for leftovers. Definitely some of the best shrimp and grits I've had locally. My cousin ordered the Lumberjack Special which comes with pancakes, sausage, eggs n potatoes but he upgraded his pancakes to one of the specialty pancakes; chocolate chip pancakes, which was an available option for a small upcharge. Overall, great food, great vibe, reasonable prices, and family-friendly. I'll definitely be back, this might become my regular breakfast spot.

Did an online order for pickup on a Sunday. It was packed inside. They sent me a text saying it was now ready. That was much earlier than expected. Was expecting everything to be all good. Food was much better this time... But they forgot an order, so we had to come back. They actually forgot to make the pizza in the first place. Will I be back? No. Would I recommend? The food is good, not great, so probably not.

Came here for breakfast. Service was fast after we were seated. Great selection of items. Sever was great. The restaurant has a great cafe vibe. I will definitely be back here

100 percent false advertising!

Horrible customer service and false advertising! I drove all the way here from Rancho Santa Margarita with my dogs because it said dogs allowed and outdoor seating only to waste my time and gas! I heard amazing things about this place, however im completely disappointed to the false advertising! I even tried calling. no one was answering prior to driving down here! And when i asked the hostess she was completely clueless! Thank you for wasting my time!

We'd been here a couple of times before, but only for drinks. The interior is quaint, with pretty typical Francophilic touches (pics of Parisian landmarks, etc). I decided on the Fit crepe, which is a buckwheat crepe filled with spinach and feta. Delicious, but the crepe was a bit dry around the edges. The drip coffee I got was great, however, and the hubby enjoyed his Veggie hash. Not a super huge fan of French cuisine; however, the menu looked good and mostly reasonable prices. Restaurant is super cute with indoor/outdoor seating. We started off with a bottle of cab (41.00, ouch)! It was noted as a different brand on their menu and they came with a bottle of Josh Cellars which isn't a bad table wine but about 3 times the price! We ended up ordering the fondue for the app (24.00) which comes with bite size pieces of bread and diced apples. It was ok, a little too runny and had an interesting hint of beer flavor. Next up we both ordered the brie & prosciutto sandwich which came with a side of au gratin and greens. The sandwich was excellent but the potatoes were cold. We ended our meal sharing creme brulee for dessert. It was good but also served cold. Total bill incl tip: 163.00 bucks (double ouch)! Overall, meal and service was good, but I would forego the wine on a future visit as it was way overpriced for the brand we got as well as the cheese fondue. Will definitely be back though. Very comfy and charming atmosphere.

Miracle is an amazing Christmas themed pop up with so many lights and decorations that it will dazzle your eyes. Think Christmas on crack from floor to ceiling in every space imaginable. Their holiday menu is pretty well rounded. I've had the burger and beet salad with grilled chicken before which are both excellent tasting. The holiday drinks are always really delicious and capture the essence of the holidays. The snowball old fashioned is my favorite every year. The ice is shaped into a snowball. This past weekend I attended The Haunting which is new this year. It was sooo fun. It's like Miracle but for everything Halloween related. Life sized ghouls and goblins with Halloween lights and decorations everywhere. The food menu seems to have similar items from Miracle but this year I tried the Chicken Pot Pie bites and they were really great tasting and had savory seasonings with a shallow gravy in the skillet. My only qualm with them is that they were not hot enough, just luke warm. We also tried the Hatch Chile Mac n Cheese, it was really good with a mild chile flavoring and not spicy but packed with flavor. If it's past 10pm they have a late night bites menu which is limited but gets you some tasty bites. The themed drinks were fun and came in a baby doll head, a cauldron, a clown face and other drinkware. The Liquid Lobotomy served in the baby doll head was my favorite because I love falernum rum drinks. The Poison Apple was another drink favorite and was old fashioned like. We ordered the pumpkin shots and were disappointed that they did not come in the take home shot glasses; they were out so they discounted the shots and our server Lucille said she told us but she didn't. These shots tasted great and I don't usually do shots. My friends and I all tried each other's drinks to see what we liked best and wanted to try next; they were all excellent tasting and it's fun to see how the drinks come together. Sometimes I'm reading the ingredients in a drink and I'm like how would these items come together and taste good, but they do. The bartenders are amazing at their craft. They don't take reservations past 4pm so it's first come first served. It was a Saturday night and the line was super long; we got it line around 8:20pm and got seated at 9:54pm. It's a timed experience just like Miracle and you get 90 minutes which is enough time for the full experience.

My friend and I went on a Monday during the day around 12:30 noon. Reservations are required, but after 4pm they accept walk ins. They make you out a credit card down for the reservation and if you don't show they charge you a fee. I was not aware until I arrived but there is a time limit of 2 hours for the table. Since my friend and I went during the day I don't think it was an issue as we sat there for closer for 4 hours. The hostess was very sweet. She informed us that we could take pictures, walk around and videotape as well. The server was friendly as well. Since it was so empty during the day we didn't really see her as much and my friend and I were talking a lot. Together we ordered 3 alcoholic beverages, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees and 1 dessert to share. The first drink I got was the clown pear-noia and my friend got the liquid lobotomy. They were served in fun Halloween cups that you can also purchase there. Second drink I got was the severed sun. All drinks were really good but definitely want to give a hats off to the mixologists because the flavors were great together. If you don't like craft drinks you may not enjoy these. I really enjoyed the severed sun the most out of those three. For the food, we got an order of sweet potato fries and the hatch chili Mac and cheese. Sweet potato fries were as expected, and came with Parmesan cheese topping and a black garlic aioli. The Mac and cheese was not spicy at all, but every so often I did taste a hint of spice. For entrees I had the short rib and she ordered the butternut squash ravioli. Both entrees were good and we both were happy with our selections. The ravioli tasted exactly like butternut squash soup. The short ribs had a nice glaze, but I do wish there was a bit more to help with the flavor profile (carrots were yummy and fresh, but mashed potatoes were kind watery). So to be clear, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the food, it tasted good and we have no complaints, but it was not "oh my goodness this is amazing" good. So that is why I put 4 stars instead of 5. Overall I had a great time catching up with a friend. It wasn't crazy loud in there that we couldn't hear each other but it was pretty dark in there. I did also see a lot of children with parents, but after 9pm I believe there are no children allowed. This place is a must try at least once for the vibes! Will definitely come back for the Christmas pop up next month!

I never expected to find stellar cocktails and wings inside of a hotel, but you truly never know…read more Let's start with the cocktails; they are KILLING it. The menu has a ton of really detailed options, each drink with its own depth. The menu changes seasonally but what doesn't change is the smoked old fashioned - a must-order. They smoke your drink in a glass container using applewood chips; it's quite a show and it also does make the drink much more enjoyable. Ask the bartender and they can also help guide you to a drink - I've done it a couple of times and always pleasantly surprised. Next up, the food! The hummus was very flavorful and paired with an amazing fluffy pita bread. The truffle fries were solid but the plate was HUGE, definitely needs a friend to share. The Nashville wings are the star of the show. I cannot stress this enough, this is worth a DRIVE for. The seasoning really does remind you of Howlin' Rays (the highest compliment) and the chicken is extremely crispy yet insanely juicy. The pickles and ranch that it comes with pairs so well. Do note that they are tossing it in pork fat, which enhances the depth but also makes it a little greasy at the end. I also wished they'd warn you this and offer to order it without it; especially for those who don't eat pork or for those trying to cut some calories. There's a happy hour menu too!!! So you can get drinks and food even cheaper. I cannot stop thinking about this place. It's such a sleeper. Head to Midnight Oil after a visit to continue your night.

I eventually ordered the Crispy Shrimp & Calamari to eat as my main (I was dining alone). I had recently had a very notable version of the same dish at a Canopy by Hilton in Washington DC, and unfortunately, this one did not measure up. The breading was average and the sweet chili aioli was poor. I asked for ranch instead, which was an improvement but still not great. The portion itself was fine. Service was solid and friendly! I'd rate the staff around a 4. Based on the food I had, the kitchen lands closer to a 2.5 to 3. Whether you're going for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, The Attic is one of those places that just has something special about it. They've got an outdoor patio, an indoor-outdoor patio, and a completely indoor dining area. Every space has its own personality. It's one of the most unique, eclectic restaurants you'll find in Long Beach. And if you love cornbread, oh my God, you have to try theirs! It's warm, buttery, served with honey, and absolutely delicious. I'm telling you, it's worth going just for the cornbread. The breakfasts are great. The lunches are great. The food across the board is fantastic. The bartenders are great. The menu has plenty of variety, and the whole place just has this incredible vibe. Imagine trying to find the restaurant with the biggest personality on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. That's basically The Attic. There's a certain energy to this place that's hard to describe. It's the same way Palm Springs has its own energy, or Melrose Avenue has a certain feeling you can't quite replicate anywhere else. The Attic has that kind of magic. And the best part? The food actually lives up to the atmosphere. The menu doesn't disappoint, the service is great, and the entire experience feels like something you won't find anywhere else. To me, The Attic represents Long Beach in every possible way. Because that's what makes Long Beach special, right? We're not Orange County. We're not Los Angeles. We're Long Beach. We have our own personality, our own culture, and our own energy. We're a little eclectic, a little unexpected, and completely ourselves. And that's exactly the kind of experience you'll find at The Attic.

Having visited The Attic many years ago, I was excited to return, but this visit was…read moredisappointing--not because of the food itself, but because of poor communication, inattention to detail, and weak customer service. I ordered the vegan sandwich, advertised with a vegan patty, kale, avocado, vegan egg, and bread. I requested a lettuce wrap instead of bread and added tomatoes. After an exceptionally long wait, while nearly everyone else at my table had received their meals, mine arrived missing the tomatoes, vegan egg, avocado, and lettuce wrap. It was essentially a vegan patty on arugula, despite costing approximately $20. Mistakes happen, especially when restaurants are busy or ingredients are unavailable. The problem was the lack of proactive communication. The restaurant apparently had no iceberg lettuce and could only offer arugula, which would have been fine if someone had told me beforehand. The same applies to the missing ingredients; instead, I had to discover each omission myself. The avocado was brought out only after I asked about it, by which point the delayed meal had become frustrating. I eventually requested complimentary fries--not because I wanted something free, but because a gesture of goodwill seemed appropriate. Good hospitality isn't about never making mistakes; it's about how a restaurant responds. Offering alternatives, communicating shortages, adjusting the bill, or providing a small complimentary item can show customers that their experience matters. The Attic has been a recognizable Long Beach establishment for years, making this decline especially disappointing. I don't expect perfection, but I do expect honesty, reasonable communication, and an effort to make things right. I didn't mind paying $20 for a thoughtfully prepared vegan meal; I minded paying $20 for a vegan patty and arugula while repeatedly advocating for the ingredients that were supposed to come with it. Sadly, after many years of remembering The Attic fondly, this experience may have cost them a loyal patron.
