However the manager on mother's day was so unapologetic I decided the mishaps and insane waiting times needed to be addressed. 1st. (7:30 am) I came in with a great attitude, asked for the hot coffee with whip cream and we ordered our food immediately because we were soooo hungry. 2nd. (8:o7 am) another guy (manager?) came and asked what we ordered, he said "hot, right? Refering to my coffee order and several minutes later came back with an iced coffee. REALLY? I reminded him that I asked for hot and he was ready to fix it, but 40 minutes in I was like "JUST GIVE ME CAFFEINE" time continued to pass us by and I struggled with releasing the angry black woman or staying calm. Just as we were going to cancel our order (or go postal) our food arrived, burnt jurassic ($2 upcharge) bacon and all. Another place that I would always walk or past by whenever I'm in Belmont shores. Finally gave in and tried it out. The beginning of the week as it was still pretty early and plenty of tables open. There's a small parking lot next to it as well as but both metered street parking along the front as well as parking in the neighborhood. Just read the signs to be safe as I've been seeing lots of cars getting parking ticket. Monday just around a late breakfast and plenty of tables which it was still a wait to be seated. There was a host and a couple of the waiters working. The restaurant is an open concept feel. Main dining area has the bar as well as the patio. There a side dining area which all has the outdoor feel. They also have merchandise along one side of the wall for purchase. Menu wise, pretty much breakfast. I'm not sure if there's a separate menu for later on or if that was it. Service was nice once we got taken care of. It's a looked like a full bar where it could also be utilized for a meal as there's seating along the counter. Food, one of the omelets. Portuguese linguisa sausage, applewood smoked bacon, sausage, tomato, green bell peppers, herbs and the BR cluckin "good hot" sauce served with house potatoes and toast with butter and jam. It was quite tasty and flavorful. The omelette was also a nice yellow color compared to others. Also had an order of the breakfast jambalaya with shrimp, Portuguese sausage, rice, red bell peppers, and roasted tomatoes sauce and topped with three eggs any style and green onions. This dish was tasty with nice big shrimps not bay shrimp. A nice touch with the eggs, rice was flavorful. Staff were all friendly and food was nice. Love the plates that the meal comes on which literally everyone's looked massive. Restroom is located along the walkway of the kitchen so waiting is along the side. This one day, I was craving breakfast....but like a different kind of breakfast that hits different and Breakfast Republic hit the spot! It's one of those little restaurants that make you feel at home. Thankfully, I went on a day when it wasn't busy at all, so I was seated right away and I chose to sit at the cozy bar area. Absolute must try. Love coming here. The service is always amazing and the food is delicious. The only thing I don't like is the wait. There's always a long wait. So don't come hungry lol. That said, the service does not lack. They are on it. Been here a couple of times and it never disappoints. I've had their Power Bowl, Steak-n-Eggs, and the Chilaquiles. Though a cup of joe is usually my steady companion at breakfast, I abandoned it in favor of their special: the Café de Olla Pancakes. Imagine coffee‑infused pancakes soaked in a glistening pool of syrup and topped with a generous swirl of coffee cream. Dessert for breakfast? Absolutely! It didn't seem busy, so we're guessing they might have been short staffed, which could explain the delay. That said, the eggs were really good. The Portuguese sausage omelette was definitely better than the jalapeño cheddar omelette. However, the Brussels sprout potato upgrade was not worth it--very oily, the potatoes didn't taste fresh, and there was barely any Brussels sprouts included. Our waiter was amazing. I cannot remember his name, but he was attentive, friendly, and really added to the experience. They tend to use clean ingredients, which I appreciate. We have been to Breakfast Republic's Irvine location several times over the past few months. We are always amazed by the food and lattes! First time at the Long Beach location, and it's literally a short walk away for us! Long Beach is a smaller location and that may be some of what makes it different from the Irvine location, although the menus look identical. To start with, I ordered a Chai Tea Latte, just as a do at the Irvine location, definitely made from concentrate and over diluted with milk that wasn't steamed (I can do better at home). I would not recommend Lattes, not sure that they have a barista(s) as they do at the Irvine location. In Irvine, the Latte comes and you go WOW. Food, I ordered my usual Traditional Eggs Benedict. The two eggs had different doneness, which is very unusual for poached eggs. One egg was almost runny (not runny enough for me), and the other egg was medium to well, with no run to it. Even the home potatoes were different, a bit underdone for my likeness. My friend ordered Strawberry French Toast and was pleased with her meal, just needed more syrup. Service was good but the server didn't come back to check out how our food was, otherwise I would have let her know. I was very hungry and just ate to be done. I expected the Long Beach location to be identical to Irvine sin e these are no Franchise stores! I will go back again, but only to the Irvine location (yes, I would rather drive 20 miles than walk 0.5 mile for the food and lattes). read more

This lady didn't seem to support her team at all. While they worked really hard she just sat there as if she was out to brunch herself. The party looked like friends or something. Regardless it was very unprofessional to witness. When I finally did see her helping with delivering some food, she kept touching her hair (which was down and not tied up- pretty unsanitary and a professional would never risk hair in the food). I want to make it very clear that our server, can't remember his name but he had glasses and said he was pretty new, was very sweet and as attentive as he could be. In my opinion him being new was even more reason for her to be helping with the brunch chaos. Our food took a little while but was delicious once we received it, so we didn't mind that part at all. I went here because I've never seen this spot before. It looked new to me. I decided to sit outside because inside felt a bit crowded to me, and I can get overwhelmed with crowds and loud noises. I got sat right away, because there were many seats. I came right before it got super busy which was around 8pm. The server had someone a serious demeanor. I don't' mind as long as they aren't rude. I ordered the cafe de olla (my fave coffee) and shrimp and grits with scrambled eggs. My order came pretty quickly and at first I looked at my shrimp and grits and I thought I'd regret ordering it, but the flavor was soooo buttery, with spice. It was so delicious. I ate it all! It worked so well with the eggs and the cafe de olla was also very good. I then had to pay. After this guy scanned my payment he left real quick. When my server came, I mentioned to my server that the guy came for me to pay, but I don't know what happened. I guess it didn't go through. So he ended up taking my payment. Before I get into the unfortunate disappointments I do want to highlight the service. The hostess and both of the servers we had were incredibly nice and super helpful and the food came out quick! This place is dog friendly and they were quick to offer a water bowl for my dog. Now on to the disappointing thing... the food. I ordered their "most popular" and "recommended" dish, their Chilaquiles with carne asada . I saw it on another table and it looked delicious, but once I received it, it was extremely bland. The black beans tasted canned, the rice felt like they had been sitting out and got hard, the eggs were comparable to fast food eggs and the carne asada was just unseasoned chunks of overcooked steak.
