If you want a cardboard sandwich this is the place to go. No sauce, over cooked bread. Not worth $50, not even close.

I love Eric Schats bakery out in Bishop, CA, but this is one here is a little different. They're still related, but operating at a smaller scale. We had shared the pastrami sandwich, and enjoyed it! Everything tasted fresh and good came out quick. If you're looking for a good and quick bite, i definitely recommend come here. Plus, they also a nice selection of breads and desserts.

The saving grace was the wonderful lady who took the order in her stylish glasses so friendly and welcoming! And the fries were crunchy yet no Heinz tomato ketchup. The cakes at the entrance looked interesting. The Italian cookie was too sweet like dosing on spoonfuls of sugar. Salty and sweet a balance would have been nice. The raspberry center got stuck to the parchment paper bag. The Tiramisu was ok, nothing to write home about let alone finish. The extra hot latte was as expected. Extra Hot and delivered the caffeine dose needed. Ambiance is nice. We would have liked to be regulars. For the cakes or honey. Found the carne asada tacos at Centro market (first time) more delicious, 20 mins after sharing a sandwich here. Go there!

My friend suggest we meet at the Sage Cafe for lunch, located inside the Carson Tahoe Hospital. I've been here before, and liked it, so I wasn't surprised at wanting to have lunch at a hospital! He said they opened the wok stir fry station that was closed for a long time. He said it was really good and you get to make up you own wok fry my just checking off on a list of ingredients of what you want. We meet up there, you just have to sign in at the front desk as you enter first. The inside looks same as it always did, open and clean. We go over to the stir fry station on the back to the right. For $8.65 you get to pick out all the stuff you want, no limit, but I do think they go my total weight, so like if you pick 2 meats, you get less of each one, still generous with the stuff you pick though. We just filled out the little forms, circling what we wanted. They even offered shrimp for no extra cost. You won't get that in any Chinese restaurant! I got shrimp for my protein and the chef put a ton of it in! My friend had a combo of chicken and shrimp. We watched as the chef tossed our stuff in the air in the wok. They run induction burners, so no giant flames ... prob a good thing inside a hospital! Our food is served in to go boxes, no plates here. Wow, the food was super scrumptious, I liked our selection of ingredients. I'd say with this wok stir fry station open now, get yourself over here and have lunch. It starts at 11 am. $8.65 with no tax is way cheaper than any Chinese restaurant these days!

You won't believe this, but it was inside the Carson Tahoe Regional Hospital. One of the best places to get an outstanding meal!

Our waitress and the bar staff were incredibly friendly and helpful with recommendations (our first time here). There was a slight mishap with my order, but they bent over backwards to make it right, which was greatly appreciated. The food was amazing. I had a cup of their clam chowder as a starter (I was starving) and it was easily the best chowder I've had outside of San Francisco and Seattle. My main was their French dip. It was piled high with thinly shaved beef and cheese. Would definitely recommend. My wife enjoyed her salmon and eggs Benedict. I tried a bit of it and thought the salmon had fantastic flavor. I definitely recommend enjoying a meal here. We'll definitely be back, though next time we'll know to secure a reservation ahead of time.

We were a group of 8 and while we were waiting on our food I happened to have a clear view of the kitchen. When I watched for a minute I realize the chef had his long hair pulled back in a ponytail, but his beard down to his chest had no covering. It grossed me out so much that every bite I was looking for hair! Then while the food came out and the waitress was serving she accidentally gave a plate of food to the wrong person. When it was discovered the waitress offered the plate to the correct person stating "he only took a couple of bites"! We all sat there in disbelief. The restaurant remade the dish to say the least. The food was tasty but the service was extremely slow. We arrived at 6pm and our food was served at 7pm. Question: would I go back byes, but I would check to see if the cooks were properly protested from hair dropping in my food.

The service was outstanding -- friendly, attentive, and genuinely eager to make sure everything was perfect. My order came out quickly, and every detail was spot on. Now the food... truly exceptional. The burger was one of the best I've ever had: perfectly cooked, incredibly juicy, and packed with flavor. The bun was soft but held together beautifully, and the toppings were fresh and high quality. You can tell they don't cut corners here. The fries were crisp and golden, seasoned just right, and the dipping sauces were actually worth raving about. Even the pricing felt fair for the quality you get. Every bite tasted like something crafted with care, not just thrown together. Overall, this is the kind of place you look forward to coming back to. However, service has been a challenge during each visit. On our most recent visit, it took about 20 minutes to be seated with a party of four, including a child, even though there appeared to be open tables. After sitting down, it took several minutes before we were greeted. Our server brought waters and later took drink orders, but there wasn't much communication about timing or whether they were short staffed. Once we placed our order, we waited close to an hour for our food. We completely understand that restaurants can get busy and staffing can be tight -- we just would have appreciated a quick update along the way. A little communication goes a long way and helps set expectations. When our food arrived, part of the order was incorrect (we had requested a salad and soup substitution but only received fries). The server corrected it, and the food itself was good. It did come out at different times, and we noticed another table seated after us received their food much sooner, which was a bit confusing. We truly want to support Roy's and hope this feedback is helpful. With stronger communication and smoother service flow, it could be a great experience.

Here is what we noticed: - It's a pretty unassuming place...we parked in the side lot and walked around to their main entrance. They even had some specials highlighted as we entered. - Inside there is lots of seating...when we arrived the front of the place was empty, but people were sitting there when we left and we noticed that it is much quieter in that section of the restaurant than in the main dining room. - As others have noted, chorizo is their specialty and it's in many of the dishes. And, it is worth it!...and, not spicy like you might think of chorizo. My wife and I ordered the Quesadilla and the Basque Omelette, and we split both (plus, we took some home too). Each dish was really good in its own right, and being able to have the chorizo prepared two ways was great. Their home fries were really tasty too. - Service was good....very attentive, especially considering that it took us a while to decide what to order given the breadth of the menu. - We paid cash because of their sign indicating that that was preferred. Bottom line: We'd go back to Villa Basque Cafe anytime we're in Carson City...next time, we'd like to try some of their lunch options!
