Stopped here to check out this well-known bakery. Lots of bread, pastry and sandwich options as well as fresh squeeze OJ, coffee, and tea drinks. Enjoyed the cheddar jalapeno bagel (but they ran out of cream cheese?) and cute banana marzipan. The cherry turnover was fine but not memorable. But what I really enjoyed was a pre-made "express" sandwich that had ham, cheese, and buttered bread. Completely delicious, and something I'd come back for. Also, picked up a jar of Scandinavian Delights orange marmalade ... my absolute favorite brand and a nice surprise to find on sale here. Despite a fairly busy morning, everything was clean, and we were able to find a table without a problem. Nice atmosphere and plenty of parking nearby. A little surprised there wasn't a breakfast menu, but will have to come back and explore more of the lunch menu options like the tri-tip sandwich.

I've been told to try Schats by so many people and I can see why. Their service is so genuinely friendly. It's a cozy, clean environment with a small town feel. There are a few people set up on laptops working and others meeting for a quick coffee date. I love the overall vibe.

Always good food, and great pastry. Our favorite bread too! Attentive cashier and service in a small dining area.

Such a hidden gem! Northern Nevadans and locals alike know where to stop when looking for a special treat or sweet indulgence when in the area. Being from Reno, I always stop by Paul Schat's whenever I drive through Carson City to grab a bakery treat or fresh artisan bread for the upcoming week. The bakery offers a comfortable seating area and an array of freshly made sandwiches/burgers, breakfast & coffee, a WIDE array of baked goods, seasonal treats, cakes, artisan breads - you name it! The bakery is tucked away in the back of a shopping center and is open 7 days a week - 6am to 6pm! Definitely recommend the artisan breads, my family loves the artisan Sourdo & Asiago Romano cheese bread, coconut macaroons, croissants, array of coffee cakes, and strudels! We have yet to try something we do not enjoy. Definitely recommend if you are looking to fulfill a baked goods craving or looking for a unique local gift for friends and family.

Came here for lunch when we were on the way to Lake Tahoe. It was in Carson city located inside a plaza. There was also a cafe on the side and when you go further down there's a counter to order sandwiches and food. The staff was helpful when we were deciding between 2 sandwiches. Facility was clean and felt homey inside. We got the Reuben stacker which has pastrami and sauerkraut. We shared so it was the perfect amount since it was a bigger portion. Overall delicious and perfect place to get a quick sandwich!

Love looking at bakeries so came in and what a treat! Fresh crusty ciabatta rolls I can't wait to eat with salted butter! We also bought an almond bear claw. I can't wait to try it. They do have a larger one available for like $10. I would have bought it but afraid I would eat it all myself. Me and the hubby shared the rueben sandwich made in their pumpernickel rye bread . YUM!

1/19/2025: First-Born Daughter wanted taking me to Paul Schat's Bakery while visiting Carson City. Aside, Daughter and I ate a couple pastries, I drank coffee while she drank hot chocolate, and we both bought several bake goods for our humble abodes in order, inhaling at our leisure. BTW: The nut pastry was DA BOMB~gotta eat just one and buy another nut pastry for an inhalation session later; the nut pastry wasn't inundated with a sugar overload--it was perfectly delectable!

2 big slices already missing!! Couldn't wait to have a sandwich on it!!

What a fantastic place!! Love their baked goods!! Today (1/20/25) they were running a special, if you spend $20 you get a package of 4 large sugar cookies free. I ordered a cinnamon roll, nut roll and 2 loaves of bread. The cinnamon roll was good tho not as gooey as I would have liked. The nut roll on the other hand was fantastic... it wasn't really gooey but the nut roll has so many nuts on it. Wow... epic!! The loaves of bread were great! Sourdough wasn't as sour as I like but it was fresh and delicious with only 5 ingredients. I also got the walnut and raisin bread also excellent!! They serve lunch which I didn't get this time but I will be back to check that out!!

However, I had a hard time with getting anyone to help me get the cake at the cake department. There were 3 people working, all three would look at me and not help me. I waited probably about 10 minutes just to be helped which was strange. Once I was finally acknowledged, they couldn't find my cake and I was so worried it was missing. But eventually they did find it... seemed a bit disorganized. Also, I went to buy the rest of my groceries for the party and bought three bottles of cranberry juice. Once I got home, I realized they were three months expired. Yikes. I threw them out.

Mostly there are rolls packaged like a California roll for about $9.50 for 12 pieces. The fancier rolls cost more, like ones with tuna or crystal shrimp and other toppings. But they also offer nigiri pieces in a bigger package with one roll, for like $15. The prices are about what you might pay at a sushi bar ala carte. The quality is pretty good, good as any sushi bar in town at least. This sushi is waaay better than the pre packaged stuff at like Trader Joe's or Costco. Pro tip, fresh sushi does NOT keep for long, so eat it the same day, otherwise it might get dried out. Good to have a fresh made sushi choice right here at the Save mart! If you don't see what you want, just ask and they chef will make it for you! Each box has wasabi and ginger as well as soy sauce included!

Cooking a pig in the ground is part of their culture and let me tell you, they know how to cook a pig. It was to die for. Vesta and I met Rob last June, when he was catering a Beer NV event and we were treated to his roast pig and now here is where I compare it to that Hangi Vesta and I went to with Shino and her crew. It was every bit as good. There is just something about roast pig and beer. It's a combination made in Heaven, I'm sure. Flash forward to this morning. Vesta and I pulled into a parking spot on the Sierra Street Bridge at a quarter to seven, behind Rob's van as he was getting out. So naturally, I wanted to take his photo for my Facebook 1001 Days of Faces project so asked him and he said yes.
