The staff was very helpful in choosing the best pastry and breakfast and it was quite good Coffee was a 9/10 I got a double shot dirty chai, the espresso was smooth subtle and was probably one of the best dirty chais I have had. Tried out La bakery for the first time and my pastries were very good! I wasn't sure what order and asked the employee for some recommendations. She was super friendly and quick to give me her opinion on what she likes best! I ended up getting a cannoli, an almond croissant and a lavender donut. My favorite was the lavender donut. It tasted so fresh and not too sweet! So yum! The cannoli was also so good! The croissant was a little dry for me, I prefer a softer fluffier croissant so I probably wouldn't order that again. LA Bakery is still a worthy stop in Carson City, but it is also still pricey and over-hyped. I most recently ordered a Greek Salad and added grilled chicken. The salad portion was ok, the chicken portion was pretty small. The meal came to nearly $20. The salad was fine, but nothing special, and the chicken was underseasoned. On my way out, I picked up a slice of tiramisu cake for the wife and two cake pops for the kids. Another $20. The pastries here still beat out other bakeries in Carson City. The lunch rush at LA Bakery is always busy, and service is usually good, but the line moves slowly at times. Don't visit if you are in a rush, or be sure to order ahead for pick-up. Luckily, we were able to find a table inside on a colder day, but that isn't always the case here. I find myself here when I am with coworkers who want to stop in for lunch, but otherwise, my dining dollars usually go elsewhere. However, for tasty treats, this is still the place to be. read more

I just came in for a Chai Latte while waiting for an appointment. Recommended by my PT who is almost next door. It is a large open space with a HUGE walk-up counter for both in-house dining and takeout. It was clean and bright with lovely little touches such as artwork and small flower vases on the table. I ordered a Chai Latte with 2% milk, half and half, and a shot of espresso. It was brought to my table in a large cup with a heart-shaped sprinkling of spice on top of the creamy foam. Service was good and the lady who took my order walked me through all the yummy options in my drink. It was brought to my table in a reasonable amount of time. This is a block off the main drag on the north end of Curry Street. May stop by for lunch on my next visit to get sustenance before the drive back north to Reno. read more

Stopped by this bakery for breakfast while my car was being worked on at the Toyota dealership. I ordered a breakfast wrap. The wait was longer than expected but so worth it. This wrap was scrumptious! The wrap was filled with eggs, bacon, cheese, spinach, roasted red peppers, onions, and a delicious pesto Mayo sauce. The wrap melted in my mouth. They offer so many pastries, salads and breads too. I felt like a kid in a candy shop. Ended up taking some rye bread home for sandwiches. It was tempting but this time I didn't get any pastries. So we walk in and we get a very warm greeting. They're off to a good start, but we expected nothing less, as this is not our first visit. On this occasion, my wife and I both chose omelettes. She had the veggie omelette and I had the Greek omelette. She was able to customize her omelette and had it made with just egg whites. My wife then went off on a rant about healthy choices. And this is a tough room to make healthy choices. The baked goods here are phenomenal. Today was the first time we got out of there without sharing a piece of carrot cake. Beyond that they use good organic ingredients and 100% sea salt in their quality baked goods. As we went into the restaurant, we couldn't help but noticed that it was 28° outside and the seating area we sat in was in a room that has a bank of glass that let the sun come in and warm up the room nicely. As I already mentioned, the staff was friendly, prompt and efficient. The food came out hot and fresh and we enjoyed it. This won't be our last visit, and who knows, maybe we'll get to have carrot cake next time. It will be on an occasion when my wife's not ranting at me about health. read more

One of my favorite places to go in Carson city and I have not had a single thing let me down yet. Service is always amazing! It is a smaller restaurant so keep that in mind if you want to eat there, it is an order at the counter then sit down restaurant. It does get packed! Be ware if high traffic times and know that there bakes goods are made fresh daily so if you want something specific I recommend getting there early. Oh yes, casual place to read a book and eat lunchit's no secret why LA Bakery is a local favorite, but I love how many options they have and they cater to those with food allergies. Came here with a friend, not knowing what to expect. We ended up with a Panini because Panini's are unusual these days and they do have a gluten-free option. So for three dollars more, you can get the salmon Panini. It had fresh herbs, fresh Yogurt, dill sauce, and beautiful pickles, and cucumbers. Totally worth the extra three dollars. Nice inside with display case after display case filled with all kinds of delectables. Well, the cake was absolutely gorgeous. We got it back to our cabin and all of us went to town on it. Unfortunately, looks can be deceiving -- it was absolutely awful. The cake was dry. The icing was so bad. The Bavarian cream was the absolute worst, very yellow and tasted like cheap pudding. Love this amazing bakery/cafe in Carson City. If you are in town you must stop by. They have the most delicious baked goods but also serve great sandwiches, burgers and salads. The Turkey Delight on sourdough is my favorite. Turkey and cheese with a cranberry walnut spread. I bought a chocolate mouse cup to go that looks amazing. Everyone is so kind who works there. It is not every day I feel as if a business does not care about their customers. I probably went the wrong way, but a lady rudely and quickly told me that I was in the kitchen of the establishment. I think they could do a better job but telling you where the actual place is, if you're not from carson city. Once I got there, as another lady employee had pointed me where to go. I noticed they were out of a lot of product, and when asking what had happened, they just said, sorry. I got to the cashier, and as I was placing my order, some lady with a bunch of piercings came around to give her instructions of some sort while I was trying to finish my transaction. No, I did not get to try their products. I am not sure if it's because I am a dark person, but I was not OK with somebody interrupting my transaction on something I had nothing to do with. They don't have uniforms or name tag so I have no idea who that person was, but she gestured at me to wait as she finished giving instruction. At that point I was done with the place. I only wanted to try their coffee, I am from Reno, but I always like to try new things. I am sorry to say I won't try their stuff anymore and I won't be back. read more

I have heard so many good things about this place! I was excited to come here for lunch. I ordered the BLTA on Rye. Kinda surprising there is nothing that comes with it. When I record the sandwich it looked so good. After a few bites, I realized it did t have a lot of flavor. It looked there was a good amount of bacon, but on further inspection, there wasn't very much. It was kind of disappointing. Someone in my party ordered the cheeseburger. This came out looking amazing. They had to order the fries separately. The burger was very good! I look forward to trying this place again. I don't base my opinion on one visit. They even offered me a bag as they noticed I was struggling carrying all my purchases. Online ordering available. Price - $15; expensive, but that is the cost for quality. Wow the pastries! Decadent, unique flavor combos, giant portion sizes, amazing presentation! The desserts at LA bakery were scrumptious, and I love how many gluten free options they had for my gluten free friend. The honey lavender cake was a standout! The lemon bar was one of the richest most decadent I have ever had. The cannoli was perfection. My mouth is watering just thinking back to the sweet filling and light crispy crunch. I didn't enjoy the lunch sandwich option as much, I opted for the grilled cheese. It was fine but not exciting or unusual in any way. Yum! On our day trip a friend suggested L.A. Bakery as a possible snack stop/lunch option...after searching on Yelp and never having been here, sounded like a winner to me. I went with the Turkey Melt, which was perfect, portion and delicious. I ordered this Guava Punch Kombucha which I hadn't tried before but fell in love with it. On the way out I ordered a Lavendar latte and a Peanut Butter dessert, wow everything was incredible and I told my friend if I'm ever in the area again for work I will add this to my lunch stop lists. The place was packed to the brim and as we were seated to another area were informed this room would close in 30 minutes due to an event. They seem to do well, although this business is tucked away. Winded up here on a recommendation, we had some Business in Carson today so the short drive was worth it. We were there in the afternoon so many baked goods were gone but we had lunch and the sandwiches were fantastic!!! Tuna melt uses dill pickle which is my favorite! The turkey melt was my choice of the best sando today! Friends had cold turkey and a pastrami and they raved about their choices. I love choosing my favorite fresh baked bread ( sourdough) when we order sandwiches. We tried a gluten-free lemon bar that was tart and refreshing and a peanut butter chocolate bar. The pb was a silky creme over a chocolate brownie like cake and a thick hardened chocolate top. So good! Added bonus this afternoon a large doe walked down the road as we ate. When we left we caught sight of several more and then a block away a few more. Wildlife and great food !! Honestly I'd drive to Carson for lunch here anytime. Ran into a friend in Carson. She said I had to go to LA Bakery for lunch. It's her fav place. The food is very fresh. I can see why it's her fav place. Got there around 11:30 the restaurant was pretty full. I wanted a lighter lunch so I ordered half chicken, red pepper, spicy mayo on ciabatta and a cup of soup which was lentil soup. Both were delicious. The chicken breast is juicy with a generous red pepper spread on it. The bread is soft and delicious. The lentil soup is sooo delicious and filling. All this for $11!!! That turkey melt sandwich was incredibly well made, and full flavor! On top of that, they make their own red for the sandwich, which blew me away! And just biting into it, one could tell the quality bread that they used for the sandwich. It was crispy, consistent, and freshly tasting. On top of that, the peanut butter cookies were excellent!
