If you want a no frills, stick to your bones, simple kind of breakfast, you can definitely get it here. They have a pretty extensive menu. I wanted some breakfast without having to go to an IHOP or Denny's. The place is TINY. Mostly 2-top tables and a handful of booths and bar seating. If you are seated at a regular table, expect to be friendly with the guests next to you. It's such tight quarters that you can't help but start having conversations with the people next to you. I got the pork chops with eggs and hash browns. You get 2 decent sized bone-in pork chops. They were well seasoned and juicy. Really good. My son got a pancake from the kid's menu that was shaped like a Mickey Mouse head. It was huge. I got a sausage patty to go with it. This was the only sub-par item as it was dry and lifeless. I feel like it was sitting on the flat top or under a heat lamp for hours. It wasn't worth eating. Other than that, the food we had over all was good. The service was OK. The morning we went, it seemed like there was only 1 server for the entire restaurant. She was taking orders,serving, AND bussing tables. So, the quality of service wasn't the best. She was rushed. We have been coming to Cowboys Café for a few months now I've already done a review, but thought I would add another one. Cowboys Café is on the north end of town in Minden Nevada. You really have to look. Or you will gonna miss turning into it because it's in a very small plaza. There is a sign outside that says Cowboys Café, but you really gotta kind of look for it. This morning, as we were eating there, I was thinking that this place reminds me of an old style truckstop. You walk in and it's a real western flavor. There's a bar seating and booth seating and tables. The walls are decorated with different kinds of rifles and all kinds of different western style decorations, which is really cool. You're always greeted warmly by the staff. The place gets pretty packed at times, especially on Sundays. But we always seem to get a seat. If we wait it's not usually a very long wait and the food is very much worth the wait. I've been slowly working my way through the menu since we've been coming here. I've had the chicken fried steak. I've had the pancakes. I believe we've even stopped in there for lunch and I had a really good cheeseburger. I've also tried the chili. That is very good. This morning I tried the linguiça with eggs and man it was amazing. They have the best home fries anywhere. The coffee is always good and it's strong the way I like it. So if you haven't been in here, you need to get in here and give these guys a try and I guarantee you'll be coming back. read more

My sister and I just came from there, based on reviews we have seen and wanted to give it a try. Attractive name and impressed with the theme and decor. The gentleman who seated us was very pleasant but our waitress was a bit on the cold side and barely even gave us a greeting. Food was ok, nothing special. They boast of strong coffee, but it was the opposite. Maybe we came in on an off day, but wasn't that great for visiting out of town. We may or may not be back, but if we do (and only if we are taking care of business in the area), we hope it's a better experience. read more

It was busy, but we arrived just in time to get a table for three with no wait. We ordered the chicken fried steak with extra crispy hash browns, a side of pancakes, chocolate chip pancakes, and a breakfast burger. Everything was delicious! I loved my chicken fried steak! It was a huge portion and the meat was thick and flavorful. The gravy that was paired with it was tasty as well! The side of pancakes were great! I loved how the butter was room temperature, so it was easy to spread on with the syrup. Service was excellent! Our server was very attentive and had a positive attitude. She checked on our meal and made sure we had everything we needed! I had a pleasant experience at Cowboy's Cafe and I am looking forward to dining there again with the cowboys and cowgirls! I had the Chile Colorado with a fried egg and home fries. It was delicious. I recommend it. The rest of my party had an omelet and a Ruben sandwich. We were really happy with the food. I couldn't believe how rude the waitress was (large white female, about 42 years old, with died blonde/brown hair in pony tail) was to me..... I simply asked for an extra egg to be placed on my plate instead of my fiancé's plate and she was extremely condescending, rude and sarcastic. As a combat military veteran and retired Police Sgt I'm appalled as to how I was treated and talked to. To say my PTSD was severely triggered would be a vast understatement. This places is awesome. If you ever come to Minden or are passing through you have to stop at this gem. The place is a bit rustic but the food and service is incredible. If you order the Cowboy Benedict, you better be hungry as it is a lot of food. The biscuits are light and fluffy, the sausage has a nice smoky flavor, and the gravy is rib sticking delicious. I was looking for a great breakfast and I definitely found it at Cowboy's Cafe! I read the reviews and expected rude staff so I prepared myself. What I prepared for never happened. Everyone was friendly, attentive and inviting. I mean, they weren't fawning over us, but we got what we needed when we wanted it. I was itching for some good biscuits and gravy and they have a meal with the whole shebang, The Cowboy Benedict, and man, did it hit the spot! It is definitely a hole in the wall, greasy spoon type place, which I love! Reminded me of Saugus Cafe in Santa Clarita, Ca, the oldest restaurant in Los Angeles County, where I live. This restaurant makes a good breakfast but I've had lunch there 3 times & definitely not impressed with the food. The last time I was there I ordered a patty melt with French fries. The fries were oily & limp...I was honestly shocked that they would serve them to a customer. I called the waitress over & she said "oh yeah there must be something wrong with the fryer". The restaurant is usually busy, so you might have to wait during peak breakfast time. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. Delish! Looked for a nice place for breakfast before hitting the mountains again. Seemed like a great local place. We called in and ordered pick up. Food was ready in 15 minutes. They were allowing indoor dining with tables spread out but we still took it to go. I ordered the veggie omelette with hash browns and my partner had the 2 egg special with sausage and hash browns.
