We stopped in for a cocktail and ran into a full-blown breakfast service today. We did not know they were serving brunch, but clearly it's caught on and we're late to the party. It was rainy, and so everybody was indoors, and it was kind of crowded, but that's a testament to the quality of the food. Our bartender, Maddy, was energetic and friendly, and it didn't hurt that she grew up six doors down on our street. My wife, ever the hugger, was thrilled to see her, and you could tell they had a mutual fondness for each other. So if you're into day drinking, and it's a Sunday, this is a great stop. Cute place situated at the foothills of Genoa. We came to celebrate a belated bday on 7/12 and chose to sit outside since it was such a beautiful warm evening. As I was perusing through the menu, I noticed that many of the dishes have a southern/cajun twist. We learned that the chef was from Mississippi. We ordered: - Beet marinated deviled eggs w/crispy prosciutto. Very good! Worth ordering. The yolk mixture had a little kick to it. - NOLA BBQ shrimp. SO GOOD, but crazy spicy! But, I know heat tolerance is subjective. Aside from the spiciness, the flavors were spot on. You can taste the wine, butter and spices. It was so flavorful and you can sop up all that goodness with the bread it comes with. - Green Tomatoes Tchoupitoulas. Delicious! You get a stack of fried green tomatoes and it's smothered in crab & crawfish. I would get this again. - Beer can chicken. This is the only item we had that I felt we coulda bypassed. Didn't really taste like anything special other than just a regular roasted chicken. It was served with corn which was over cooked and potato salad which was under cooked. I took the chicken home, but left the corn and potatoes behind. They have an extensive cocktail menu which had great cheeky names to them. Service was fine. The day we went, it did take a while for our apps to arrive and then an even longer time to receive entrees. I can only imagine that the kitchen was backed up? I came her today with my wife for an afternoon lunch. The setting was beautiful and we selected a seat on the patio which also was lovely. The service however was especially slow and there was no hostess to seat us and we stood at the "please wait to be seated" area for a good five minutes before anyone came to greet us. I ordered a draft beer and my wife a specialty drink...again very slow to come and see us but we were in no hurry. My beer came out luke warm. I asked the server about the temperature of the beer and after checking said that the keg had been left out and had not re-cooled! I ordered a can beer to follow and asked for a cold one? I ordered a burger and asked for it to be cooked medium. What i got was a charcoal blacked over well done burger i could barely choke down! We decided not to order any dessert after this and nothing was taken off the check. This had the makings of a great spot but ended up being one of the worst lunches I've had in some time! read more

I'll start off by saying, I hate to revise my review but find it necessary after a recent experience with the general manager, Tom. We had a confirmed reservation for eight at 1:00 pm on a Friday following a wedding ceremony. What should have been a joyful post-wedding lunch became frustrating due to the general manager's attitude. Although the reservation was made, we were told they could not ensure the table that would comfortably fit eight adults -- several over 6 feet tall. We were also informed they would not guarantee any table even a few minutes early so we could place simple floral arrangement on it before bride arrived. Our party was fully prepared to order off the regular menu and pay whatever it took for what would likely have been a one-hour lunch. During the conversation, the manager repeatedly emphasized that they are "always busy," which felt dismissive rather than helpful. The overall tone came across as VERY condescending, especially given the occasion. For a restaurant known for hospitality, this was disappointing. The lunch was booked at another restaurant. Sadly, none of us will be back to The Pink House while the current manager is employed there. read more

Just had a wonderful time at the Pink House in beautiful downtown Genoa. Haven't been for quite a while and this was a really lovely surprise. Their menu has expanded as well as their fabulous outdoor seating. The service was too notch from the hostess to our terrific server. The menu was tough to chose from because there were so many yummy choices. Our waitress helped me decide by encouraging me to order the green tomato BLT. With bacon jam! It was delicious. Very friendly staff--two different people helped us while we dined there, and they were both warm, friendly, and cheerful. My wife had the cacio y pepe, which was surprisingly well paired with tender root vegetables, and I had the seasonal roast, and everything about it was stellar: the mashed potatoes, tender beef, and savory broth. Perfect for a cold winter evening. Also found the pricing to be very reasonable for such excellent food. This was our anniversary dinner, and everything about it was perfect for us. My family and I had lunch here for my grandmas birthday. We sat on the porch with the heaters on. Very near historic building and nicely landscaped. The waitress was very nice and attentive. I had the Farro Way salad which was delicious. I asked to leave the meat off but wish they had a meatless protein option. Even just a baked tofu would have been delicious in this salad! My aunt who doesn't eat dairy asked for a pizza without the cheese, she loved it and even my grandma (who eats cheese) liked it. What a "hidden" gem this place is. Originally found this restaurant during the Genoa candy dance a couple years ago and was so happy that they repurposed it! :) Ambiance is intimate whether you sit in the house, on the deck, or on the patio - so cozy and family oriented. Kid and pet friendly! They have live music with the cutest stage set up and also an outdoor bar, if you'd just like to swing in and grab a drink. The servers are always so nice and friendly. Starters, dinner entrees, and pizzas are offered - all so yummy! The prices of the entrees are reasonably priced. However, some of the starters and pizzas are definitely pricey for what it is. The cheapest pizza they have on the menu is $26. Reservations are recommended, but they do not take same day reservations. I've been wanting to try this place for a while. Went here today. First off, my salad came before my drink. Alcohol drink. Not ok. Weird for me. My salad was mostly purple cabbage, very little fresh arugula and spring mix, ranch, meh. I had to pick out all the cabbage because it was super overwhelming and took over the entire salad. Croutons were not crunchy and weird, only 3 and no crunch, soggy. Not sure what this was. Honestly very disappointed. so then drinks come for the rest of the table. The Bloody Mary was basically vodka and tomato juice and bacon. Really? There should be horse radish and Worcestershire sauce. Bacon does not make a terrible bloody mary good. So we get brunch. pizza, good. Steak and eggs. Nope. My breakfast hamburger was good. We all split the bill. Here's where I am absolutely done. $130 for two people for brunch with two drinks and absolutely not at that price point, not even close. I'm being very critical because this was absolutely highway robbery. Never, ever, visiting this place again. If you charge these prices, it had better be good and it was not. I'm a foodie and I know food and for this price point, go somewhere else for absolutely sure. Absolutely not impressed. There is indoor seating as well as outdoor seating on the patio and the front porch. Parking is easy to find on the street. So, during our week staying down the road, we went here not once but TWICE...so we obviously loved our experience there. Such a cool place, with a historical ambiance combined with an outside stage, a porch with live music, and guitars on the wall...with one of those guitars doing double duty as a lamp. We had two Sierra's as our servers each time, both were personable, efficient, and awesome. We sat at the bar the first time, and on the porch the second time. So, for drinks, my wife and I had beer and wine the first time, and split a bottle of wine for the NYE dinner. Great selection of both. Let's talk food. The first trip, my wife split the proscuitto-wrapped fig newton and it was phenomenal. We shared the Bee Stink pizza. Also phenomenal. If you like spicy like we do, ask for the house-made hot sauce. It was very tasty. For the second trip, we did the jalapeno popper dip, and we loved it. I would also call it phenomenal, but I have already used that adjective twice already. That app was a great start before we did their NYE special prime rib and crab combo. Everything we had there was delicious, and somehow we never got around to the awesome sounding Cacio e Pepe. I guess we should have scheduled in a third trip in five days. Anyway, this place meshes so many moods superbly. You can have a classy dinner here. You can have a fun bar experience here. What a cool spot. My friend is a member of the Supper Club here and suggested we meet there for lunch. The service was wonderful, the ambiance was exceptional and the food was outstanding. I had the blackened shrimp po boy sandwich - the shrimp was seasoned and cooked perfectly and the sandwich was excellent. I ordered the butternut squash soup for my baby and she loved it as well as I, it was so cozy and tasty since the weather was chilly. Bait-and-switch deposit policy ruined what could've been a great night. We called to make a reservation for 7 people. Their website says that reservations for parties of 8 or more require a deposit of $25 per person. I've never heard of anything like that at any other restaurant I've ever been to, but figured we were in the clear with a group of 7. But when we called to make a reservation, we were told that this applies to any party of *five* or more people. So basically, we would have to pay $175 up front for the privilege of booking a table on a Wednesday night in the off-season. With appetizers, wine, and entrees we easily would have spent $600+ here. Instead we'll be dining at Walley's, who were happy to take our reservation without a shakedown. read more

The Pink House has undergone at least a few management and theme changes over the years that I've been coming here. I think the building itself is older than the State of Nevada, and Gayle has many memories of this house over the years that she visited here growing up. You can't miss this place as you pass through or linger in Genoa. I've know the Pink House since I met Gayle in 2005 and first visited Genoa soon after. It's only after we actually moved here in late 2020 that the Pink House became more of a regular presence for us as a place to take friends, or participate in some Candy Dance or Western Heritage-related activity. The "golden years" (in my opinion) was when this The Pink House was run by the owner of Daniel's next door. The most recent change of management added a regular music presence, and based on the street parking has been a popular choice. They offer music on the porch and via an outdoor stage. We've sat down over a meal with their music and have enjoyed the entertainment. I think it's been all attractively done, although there's also the Genoa Historic District guidelines to consider. The food and service side of the business has been a recent challenge, and mainly the sometimes slow service. But first, let me say that the quality and quantity of their food items have been consistently very good to excellent, particularly the Pizza. And I acknowledge that running a restaurant is a challenge, especially when its also a destination music venue. We had an experience last year, when after 2+ hours of waiting, I took off to buy some food elsewhere and bring it back. That led to an admonishment by a supervisor that outside food was not allowed, and that a 3 hour wait was not unusual, and we should be grateful for that (!). Soon after, we took friend to the Pink House for dinner, and the Pizza came out fairly fast. One reason for that was that we were served someone else's order that came in well before we did. I had heard a few related stories, but lets stay away from heresay. Gayle and I took friends here last week and it appeared that the Pink House had worked through whatever issues they were faced. We easily made reservations, got a nice inside table, listed to some great Fab Lads tunes, and enjoyed our Pizza, Soup, and Adult Beverages, served hot and relatively promptly. Our service was friendly and attentive. All in all, it was a nice night out, and one that our Bay Area friends were most impressed. Gayle and I agreed, and since we live just outside of Genoa "proper", of course we'll be back. read more

Have had pizzas here before and they had been good. First time ordering the Goombah pizza. Sounded very unique with lots of flavors. Unfortunately, we were both so disappointed. Great menu , Very innovatively named items, Even though I had looked menu over on Yelp, it still took at least fifteen minutes to decide what to order. I ordered the baa baa Basque lamb sandwich which was very tasty and large enough to fill me up. Their potato salad was excellent and different enough.to be ordered again. My friends both ordered the grilled cheese sandwich with cheddar, Gouda and for cheeses, side selections included house salad, potato chips and the excellent potato salad which was ample. We had made our reservations and good thing they were packed and we sat outside under a warm heater since we were in the shade it made it very comfortable. Austin our server was very knowledgeable and guided us into a Sonoma Coast Pinot Gris with our Carrot ginger soup and their house special Cauliflower cream soup. Next we had the fresh greens and beet salad - it was more beet than salad, a very large beet very yummy and a simple mix of goat cheese and spring mix very simple and delicious. Then we split the vegetable wrap , squash, greens, roasted pepper and goat cheese in a spinach wrap - I thought it was just a little dry but a good healthy mix. We finished with a lemon semifreddo with fresh whipped and berries. Pros: the food is good, and sometimes they have live music outside, their patio is lovely. Genoa is a cute little town, and it's fun to just walk around a few of the stores. Cons: if you go on a Sunday, just be aware that they have a very limited menu, their website does not say that. Also, and this is a dealbreaker for me, they charge for drink refills, although it is not disclosed on their menu. I ordered an iced tea, which was mostly ice, so I drank that quite quickly. The waiter asked if I would like another one so I said yes, and when I got the bill, he charged me for both. I did ask if they charge for refills and he said yes. So if they are going to pull this sneaky tactic, they need to disclose it on their menu. read more
