Food so good. Service amazing. The atmosphere is quaint. Everyone ate their meal and cleaned their plates

Duck breast with foie gras, was excellent!!!

Happen to be in the area and came here for dinner with my husband. Everything was top notch! The service, the food, the setting. We started with the foie gras and the goat cheese salad. The foie gras was excellent, definitely recommend. It was so good I got it twice because I also ordered the duck breast and it comes topped with foie gras and I was not sad about this whatsoever! Especially bc the apples and sauce they paired it with were just delicious. It just melted like butter!! My husband got the elk steak and it was perfectly cooked. The meat was so tender. Both dishes were a hit! I wished we didn't live an hour away or we would frequent this restaurant more often! We also had some drinks in their ice house building while waiting for our table and it is the cutest little bar! It's located right next to the main restaurant.

So, when my wife and I need fondue, we NEED fondue. There is no stopping us. Or, sometimes, we don't THINK we need it, but then read it on a menu, and THEN we want it. However, it occurs, it is an unstoppable force. While staying at a resort down the road during our trip to the South Tahoe area, we were hungry, checked out the bar menu at Daniel's (separate menu), saw the fondue, and then suddenly needed fondue...now. And, Daniel's delivered with our experience there. There are only a few bar seats, so we called ahead to ask about availability of those seats. "Be there in five minutes." Melissa at the host stand helped us out with the seats, so that was great. Mike was our bartender, and we excelled in efficiency and personality during our meal. Great, great service, I must say. Wife got a martini with her favorite, blue cheese olives. She also got this drink called the Cloud Cover. It was unique, had some egg in it, and you should go to hear the story of how Mike sort of made up the fantastic drink. So many drinks have been made in the world, and every once in a while, it is refreshing to get one that bends the rules. This drink did. They carried a really good IPA from Oregon that I liked, so I had that. We had lobster bisque to kick off the meal, and it was AMAZING. Next, the fondue came, and it was glorious also. Well worth the drive down there alone. For dessert, we got the Symphonie Chocolatee, and it was a drop mic end to our shared meal. Well named, as the high end chocolate bites were playing some awesome tunes in my mouth. Seriously, if I happened to have been carrying a microphone, I would have dropped it from my bar seat. We admittedly did not have the most healthy shared dinner, but we were on vacation! The atmosphere is classy and a great date place. They also have the ice patio, which was closed the night we were there, but looked like a cool outdoor area to eat in. I didn't snag a picture of the dining room area because I didn't want to weird out the fine diners there. Plus, once you are done your fancy meal, you can go to the extremely fun place across the street, which you will...trust me. I highly recommend this place, and see you there (the next time we are in Nevada)...

Omg.. so the service is stellar and the food fantastic! The atmosphere is so charming, inviting, the bar is small but adequate.

What are you doing from 3:30 to 5:30 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons while the weather is nice? If you're in the area and you want a light snack this would be a great spot for you to consider. My wife and I tried it recently and we found the cocktails to be spot on and the cheese excellent. We will, without hesitation, include this in our afternoon options considerations.

I visited the Ice House for another wine tasting. The theme of this tasting was Rose. The tasting welcomed all no matter their level or love of wine. The experience was laidback yet provided loads of information. The sommelier makes you feel like part of her family and brings the information to you in a way that is fun and easy to understand. Hopefully she will continue to run these for Daniel's and the Ice House because she is fantastic! If you haven't attended one of the wine tastings yet, you are definitely missing out so check their website and grab a ticket!

And we brought some Bay Area friends with us. We also came in mid-week to avoid any crowd potential. Our evening began at the bar with a round of Picon Punch, the official drink of the State of Nevada. I first thought that this was a drink that you only ordered once, but this small glass of goodness actually grew on us. After closing the bar bill and looking at all the branded merchandise, it was off to the main dining room. We chose the Basque Family Style side of the menu, which at the end of the evening resulted in number of take home containers. Our 4 choices were Basque Chicken, Fish, Lamb Shoulder, and Lamb Chops. Those came with Vegetable Soup, Salad, Beef Stew, Beans, French Fries, Bottle of Red Wine, Coffee, and Ice Cream. for the Table. These inclusive choices were priced just south of $40 and that's what the bill was at the end of the evening, as there were no extras needed. OK, the included wine was a little on the sweet side, but we didn't see the need to "upgrade" as we were too busy concentrating on the food. It was all good, especially the Soup and the French Fries. The only regret was not being here on the night they served Huckleberry Ice Cream, but our Vanilla or Pistachio Almond was good enough. JT Basque is family generation owned, and we certainly felt welcome and well taken care of. The rustic decor was also cool, as was the happy energy in the dining room. We promise to come back and not be strangers.

Our waiter Lee was a familiar face and very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The menu was full of fabulous choices and I just couldn't resist the foie gras appetizer. I've never tasted foie Gras prepared this way. I was not disappointed. Lovely seared four gras sitting upon a bed of lentils with a beautiful consommé poured over top. A few mushrooms were sat into this lovely mix. Dredged bread, slice of foie and lentils topped with a slice of mushroom. YUM Washed down with an extraordinary Grand Cru...oof! The duck was perfect with an amazing crust that really elevated the dish. The olives, dates were tasty morsels! Halibut looked wonderful and my seat mate enjoyed it very much. Staff were very attentive and helpful. Drinks were served promptly. We chose bacon wrapped dates to start (delicious) . Husband chose seafood appetizer and I chose the French onion soup. Both very good but my soup was barely warm which was disappointing. Husband chose filet steak as main course and I had the scallops. Tried his steak and it was excellent. My scallops were tasty but they were placed on some mashed potato that was the consistency of soup as it had mixed with the liquid from the cooked tomatoes giving it a very unpleasant taste and presentation. Again, the meal was barely warm although the plate was red hot (!). We decided against desert finishing the meal instead with coffee. Sad to say, again, the coffee was barely warm and I needed to drink it right away before it cooled even more. The ambiance and service were good and you may wonder why I didn't address the barely warm food and watery mashed potato with the waiter......the restaurant became very busy and is obviously very popular. I didn't want to disrupt the other diners with constant complaints - it has a very intimate vibe and tables are relatively close. Wimpish reason I know but why disturb other diners experience. I would be tempted to maybe give it a second chance but have to say that overall it was not a memorable evening.

Here is what we noticed: - It's a pretty unassuming place...we parked in the side lot and walked around to their main entrance. They even had some specials highlighted as we entered. - Inside there is lots of seating...when we arrived the front of the place was empty, but people were sitting there when we left and we noticed that it is much quieter in that section of the restaurant than in the main dining room. - As others have noted, chorizo is their specialty and it's in many of the dishes. And, it is worth it!...and, not spicy like you might think of chorizo. My wife and I ordered the Quesadilla and the Basque Omelette, and we split both (plus, we took some home too). Each dish was really good in its own right, and being able to have the chorizo prepared two ways was great. Their home fries were really tasty too. - Service was good....very attentive, especially considering that it took us a while to decide what to order given the breadth of the menu. - We paid cash because of their sign indicating that that was preferred. Bottom line: We'd go back to Villa Basque Cafe anytime we're in Carson City...next time, we'd like to try some of their lunch options!

It was fantastic. Great depth of flavor. The burger was grilled to a medium temp which i prefer, and i didn't even have to specify that. Great flavor in the patty and the fried egg in top added to it once the yolk was broken and oozed down the side.
