We had reservations for my friend's birthday. We were seated promptly. Our waitress was funny, energetic and had a lot of charisma. The menus is limited, but what they do offer is wonderful. My husband had the seared scallops and I hade the chicken. There was not a drop left on our plates. Excellent. To top off the celebration afterwards we went to their Ice Box for after dinner drinks. Well, what an experience!! Charming in the inside, but what made our night so blissfully delightful was the bartender, Ina. What a keeper! This girl has personally that you can't fake. The foie gras was excellent, definitely recommend. It was so good I got it twice because I also ordered the duck breast and it comes topped with foie gras and I was not sad about this whatsoever! Especially bc the apples and sauce they paired it with were just delicious. It just melted like butter!! My husband got the elk steak and it was perfectly cooked. The meat was so tender. So, when my wife and I need fondue, we NEED fondue. There is no stopping us. Or, sometimes, we don't THINK we need it, but then read it on a menu, and THEN we want it. However, it occurs, it is an unstoppable force. While staying at a resort down the road during our trip to the South Tahoe area, we were hungry, checked out the bar menu at Daniel's (separate menu), saw the fondue, and then suddenly needed fondue...now. And, Daniel's delivered with our experience there. There are only a few bar seats, so we called ahead to ask about availability of those seats. "Be there in five minutes." Melissa at the host stand helped us out with the seats, so that was great. Mike was our bartender, and we excelled in efficiency and personality during our meal. Great, great service, I must say. Wife got a martini with her favorite, blue cheese olives. She also got this drink called the Cloud Cover. It was unique, had some egg in it, and you should go to hear the story of how Mike sort of made up the fantastic drink. So many drinks have been made in the world, and every once in a while, it is refreshing to get one that bends the rules. This drink did. They carried a really good IPA from Oregon that I liked, so I had that. We had lobster bisque to kick off the meal, and it was AMAZING. Next, the fondue came, and it was glorious also. Well worth the drive down there alone. For dessert, we got the Symphonie Chocolatee, and it was a drop mic end to our shared meal. Well named, as the high end chocolate bites were playing some awesome tunes in my mouth. Seriously, if I happened to have been carrying a microphone, I would have dropped it from my bar seat. We admittedly did not have the most healthy shared dinner, but we were on vacation! The atmosphere is classy and a great date place. They also have the ice patio, which was closed the night we were there, but looked like a cool outdoor area to eat in. I didn't snag a picture of the dining room area because I didn't want to weird out the fine diners there. Plus, once you are done your fancy meal, you can go to the extremely fun place across the street, which you will...trust me. French cuisine. Opens at 5:00 but staff is there at 3:30. Reservations are recommended but if you call early in the day they will call you back and try to fit you in. The food is delicious and the service is friendly and efficient. The dining room is small and feels like an elegant home. I enjoyed the rack of lamb with risotto, mushrooms and spinach. The wine list is well represented, I had a glass of French rose'. For some reason Google doesn't list them as a restaurant in the Genoa but as of March 2026 they are differently open. read more

Daniel's is the best restaurant in the Reno/Carson City/Lake Tahoe area that we have been to. This is fine dining at great prices for the quality of the food and service. My wife had the duck and I ordered Elk. We also shared the warm goat cheese salad and mushroom and leek soup. All of the flavors were outstanding! We opted for a higher priced wine, but there are multiple affordable options by the glass or bottle. The staff were very helpful with pairing the wine with our meals. Upon our arrival we were greeted by our host , who promptly welcomed us in .Since I am in a wheelchair I must admit this was the first time ever when going out. Food and Ambiance were great! I would have given five stars, but our server was arrogant, stuck up, and rude! I wish I could remember her name. There were only two servers and she was the only female. She actually corrected me on how to say espresso (Italian or English). I pronounced it expresso (French or Portuguese), and looking it up, it can be pronounced either way, depending on what country you come from. She was very standoffish and acted like she was better than any of us at the table. We presented a gift certificate and she made it clear that this doesn't take away from her tip. I visited the Ice House for another wine tasting. The theme of this tasting was Rose. The tasting welcomed all no matter their level or love of wine. The experience was laidback yet provided loads of information. The sommelier makes you feel like part of her family and brings the information to you in a way that is fun and easy to understand. Hopefully she will continue to run these for Daniel's and the Ice House because she is fantastic! Such a gem! Food is Michelin quality and presentation worthy. Staff is super friendly and personable. I ordered crab cakes and a halibut, by far the best crab cakes I've had, they had tiny pieces of bacon in it too! Halibut was delicious. Cocktails are tasty and very original. If I may make one suggestion it'd be dessert. I went with Basque cheesecake which I find a tough one to pull out in US. It is supposed to be on a fluffier side with the creamy filling like mascarpone. It also didnt help that I just returned from Spain ;). We love Daniel's. It's by far the best restaurant in Northern Nevada. The staff is inviting and knowledgeable. The surroundings are serene and beautifully decorated. The restaurant interior is small and intimate. And the food is delicious. I've eaten at many Michelin restaurants in a variety of metropolitan cities, domestic and abroad. The quality and expertise displayed here rivals any one of them. However, great culinary skills don't come cheap but it's well worth it. read more

Our kids gave us a $150 gift card for Christmas to try this place out. Awesome ambiance here, very quant/romantic...A+ For drinks, my wife had a lemon drop and I had the Kiev Mule...both were great. For an appetizer, we went with the crab cakes...little too mushy for my taste, and I prefer crab cakes that have nice chunks of crab....also, the flavor completely covered up the crab...that was a miss for me. We ordered the Filet and Salmon, both dishes were good, but both were slightly under-seasoned...we had to request some salt to amp it up a bit. In addition, the steak came with fries..but, they did not have ketchup for fry dipping. I understand this is a French style restaurant, but most Americans prefer a little ketchup to dip their fries. The béarnaise sauce was a little too rich for fry dipping. We had to add an extra $20 in addition to our gift card to pay for our meal. Hidden gem in Genoa, Daniels feels like you walked into a cozy 19th century manor for dinner. The food is classical French- which means giant portions and hearty fare. I enjoyed the ambiance in quaint town at the foothills of the mountains. My duck was excellent- crispy tasty skin smothered in a delicious sauce. The apples in the dish paired perfectly sweet and tangy melt in your mouth to compliment the duck. I loved the foie gras appetizer it was an amazing bite every forkful with poached apples so tender, fatty and citrusy- heavenly! The drinks were also tasty- my lemon drop was so well balanced. Do not miss the creme brûlée- a deep hefty portion for two with energizing raspberries that help counterbalance the sweetness, a smooth creamy and perfect custard! The only pitfalls of the dinner was the cordon blue chicken a little boring and dry and the warm goat cheese salad was less salad more goat cheese, the most wispy empty type of greens with a round, small goat cheese didn't make for a very filling or imaginative dish. Overall super happy with the experience and will keep coming back for the incredible foie gras, creme brûlée and top notch service and atmosphere! read more

Gayle and I celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary with a dinner at Daniel's last Saturday. It's been a dazzling dozen years, and 17 since we first met. We were here before when this restaurant space was La Ferme and a few months ago, we enjoyed at wine tasting at Daniel's attractive bar building just a few steps from the main building. The restaurant itself also has stylish bar that one can come for drinks and appetizers, or to comfortably wait for one's reservation to be seated. The dining room itself is gorgeous, with nice woods, and comfortable and spacious seating among it's 7+ tables. The owner (who also runs the Pink House next door), had done a marvelous job in completely rebuilding the old La Ferme buildings, yet maintaining the Country French vibe. Our dinner was romantic, delicious, relaxing and with great service. The menu had a lot to choose from and with several additional specials noted by Luke our waiter. We skipped the appetizers, in favor of our deciding up front that we'd have dessert. That turned out to be a very tasty raspberry roll cake (See picture) and really good coffee (and a side of Bailey's Irish Creme for Gayle). Actually our first drinks were our appetizers with Gayle enjoying her signature drink (Bombay Sapphire Martini with Olives Up), while I was happy with an Old Rasputin Imperial Stout. On to the main courses: Filet Mignon (with a Barnard Griffin Cabernet Sauvignon) and choosing Chicken Pot Pie (with a GLS Isle Saint Pierre Rose). I'm from the Midwest and couldn't resist that choice, and I must say that it was not what mamma used to make. This version was light, tasty, color-balanced, and with various layered flavors (See picture). As an extra, Daniel's excellent pomme frits come with many of the main courses. As Gayle and I live in the area, we could actually walk here from our house. Alternatively, Daniel's offers plenty of dedicated parking that won't interfere with the Genoa Bar traffic across the street. We had actually thought of heading to Nevada's Oldest Thirst Parlor for a nightcap, but we were so full and happy after our Daniel's meal, that we happily walked hand-in-hand to our car and journeyed home. Daniel's is a special restaurant that more than helped us celebrate a special occasion. Whether its for a future wine tasting, a cocktail hour opportunity at their restaurant bar, or another kick-ass opportunity, we'll be back. read more

Ah-maz-ing. Cocktails in the Ice House before a fabulous dinner in the rustic elegant dining room. Small and intimate made for a wonderful quiet relaxing dinner experience. We had the crab appetizer, they brought bread and an amuse bouche that were great. Main course we had rack of lamb and the risotto. Both were excellent but the sauce on the lamb was one of the best I've ever tasted. For dessert (we made room lol) we shared both the ice cream with hot chocolate ganache you pour over the top with the lightest cookie ever made and a classic delicious crème brûlée. Four of us had dinner last night. The food was excellent. However, the service and particularly the waitress we had was absolutely terrible. She was impersonal as she presented herself and came across as if it was a burden for her to serve us or even interact with us. I first thought it was me, but after she took our orders and left our table, we all commented on her attitude and condescending approach. It was not good. Never once did she return to our table after the meal was served to check on us or to verify if our meals were okay or to check if we needed anything else. She was totally absent. Not once did she offer a casual, friendly conversation. In fact, we had to ask another waiter to bring our table some additional water because our waitress was awol during our 1-1/2-hour dinner even though was walking around and servicing other tables. After I paid the bill and was leaving the restaurant, the waitress quickly walked up to me in front of my guests in the foyer of the restaurant, and asked: "Was there something wrong with the service tonight?" I politely said "no, why?" She then said, and I quote: "This isn't the 1990's and tips are supposed to be 25% or more, you didn't leave a 25% tip." I was absolutely appalled at the audacity. I left a tip that I felt was sufficient for the type and quality of service we received at 15%, but did not feel a 25% tip was warranted based on the lack of service and the condescending attitude the waitress portrayed. It's apparent our first impression of this women was spot on. Considering this lady's attitude as she attempted to wait on us and never checked in on us during our meal, and then she had the arrogance and audacity to question how much I tip and demanded a 25% tip. I will not return to this establishment until that waitress is fired. I can get a $45 Scallop dinner at a much friendlier establishment closer to my home. Absolutely terrible. Beware! read more

I took my husband here for his birthday because I heard good things. Perhaps management had changed because I did not find anything that would've caused me to rate this restaurant above 3 stars. The food was good but not great. Prices for main dish were between $38 -$55 for the most part and Al la cart. There was nothing special provided for birthday celebrations, (like most restaurants.) Ambiance was nice but no lit candles or interesting lighting. Felt more like French kitchen for a nice breakfast. But what really surprised me was when my husband requested an additional bread roll, the waiter told us only one bread roll per person was allowed!! Really?! He said he'd check buy came back to emphasize that yes, only one per person was allowed... For the prices they charge, you would think that they can have a few more bread rolls.
