Reserve a table for dinner on the patio during summer! Not only was it lovely, but there was live music, which just added to a great meal. We started with the sage and cheddar biscuits, which were wonderful, and the glazed pork belly with chili crunch with toasted cashews - the combo of the nuts and pork was really delicious. We then had the Niman Ranch pork chop and grilled steak frites. Pork chop came with creamy polenta, mushrooms, and a blueberry glaze - I'm hungry just writing about all this. The chop was grilled to perfection - moist (no pink meat) and nicely charred for the flavor. The glaze is a hint of sweetness and the creamy polenta is a winner. The mushrooms are an excellent compliment. The grilled steak was also cooked to perfection - medium rare. The flat iron steak is such a great cut of meat. The fries in duck fat were very good. For dessert, we had a chocolate masterpiece. The meal was well priced considering the location and the time of year. And while the meal was special, it was the service that really made the experience special. While being utterly professional, the staff is also friendly and on top of it. I regret I didn't ask the hostess her name, but she was excellent - filled our water glasses without being asked once, and asked if we would like clean utensils after our appetizers. Our server was also excellent. I'd have more pictures usually, but we were so hungry after a LONG day at Sand Harbor, we forgot! read more

We decided to make the trip from Reno to try Sage Leaf for brunch with two friends. First warning: parking was a little insane! I'd recommend looking into parking options ahead of time and giving yourself some extra time before your reservation. We were seated right away. Indoor seating is somewhat limited, but they have plenty of outdoor seating for nice days. The atmosphere inside was pleasant, everything was clean, and the seating was comfortable. We were greeted by a very nice woman who got our coffee orders--and this is where my biggest complaint starts. I drink my coffee black, so there's nowhere for bad coffee to hide. Unfortunately, this was some of the worst coffee I've had in a long time. It was extremely watered down and almost completely tasteless. I actually ordered whole milk just to give it some flavor, which is something I normally never do. They also don't have an espresso machine, so switching to an Americano or another espresso drink wasn't an option. For a brunch restaurant, the coffee was surprisingly disappointing. I ordered the Eggs Benedict. It was good, but nothing that would make me order it again instead of trying something different if we return. One thing I did appreciate was how easily they accommodated one of our friends who is vegetarian. There was no fuss or confusion, and they made it simple for her to find something that worked. One real standout, though, was our waitress. She was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and had a great sense of when to check on the table without constantly interrupting our conversation. She seemed to appear exactly when we needed something and otherwise let us enjoy brunch with our friends. I really appreciated her style of service. Overall, everyone at the table agreed we'd give Sage Leaf another try. It's a nice place with excellent service, and they were very accommodating, but coming all the way from Reno, it's a bit of a stretch for bad coffee and food that, at least on this visit, was just okay. If we're in the area again, we'd certainly give it another shot. read more

It is restaurant week in Incline and I saw that Sage Leaf had a special meal. The main entree was a Spaghetti Bolognese which is always my favorite since my Italian grandma made it for me. I entered and sat at the bar because the place was busy and it was a 20 minute wait. I ordered the special. The appetizer was Seared Scallops with a coconut cream polenta. The scallops were done right seared on both sides and the polenta was creamy and full of flavor. Then came the Spaghetti Bolognese which I was looking forward to. It looked appealing but once I tried it the flavor was not what I expected. It was a meat sauce but not a traditional bolognese. It had a different flavor with no tomatoes I think it was mainly wine based. Unfortunately I was expecting a traditional bolognese and it threw me off. And I asked for bread and they didn't have any. I took the dessert home a yellow cake with cream and a raspberry sauce. It was very good. The main thing I'm disappointed with is the Spaghetti Bolognese being not a traditional bolognese. I have eating breakfast here before and it was quite good. read more

3.5 stars Ambiance is nice, it was a beautiful patio seating area. Service was good. Tuna tartare was really nice. Burger was okay only, sounded better than it tasted. Bun was dry and the flavors didn't quite compliment each other. Nothing stood out as memorable about the burger, but the meat was perfectly coked and tasty. Wish there was some "oomph" or something to make it stand out though. Fries upgrade to the duck fat fries also didn't taste like anything special or how I've had it at other places. read more

What could improve is the flavor of the food. Both our breakfasts were bland. What is excellent here is the presentation, but that does not justify the prices, which are very high. Notice the other reviews here. There is little high praise of the food. If you want a tastier breakfast, go to McDonalds; If you want trendy, this is your place. read more

Looking for a solid happy hour with great cocktails and a legit burger? Get yourself to Sage Leaf. Happy hour runs from 5-6pm at the bar only, but if you can snag a seat, it's well worth it. Vodka drinkers, the Sage Leaf cocktail is top notch. Gin lovers, The Bee's Knees is the move (and my personal favorite). Come for the drinks, stay for the burger. read more

Fantastic dinner at sage leaf. I have been going here for years, and decided to take my girlfriend out for her birthday. Cocktails were delicious, our favorite food items were the pork belly, which was complimented nicely with purple slaw, the chicken thighs, with a sauce and balsamic glaze you could put on anything, and the braised short rib, that could've been more fall apart, but still fantastic flavor and the potato puree was the perfect side. I also wanted to give a special shoutout to our waiter, Andres, who made this night extra special. Not only was it my girlfriend's birthday, but this was the night I asked her to officially be my girlfriend (she said yes!) with the help of Andres and the rest of the staff, it was the perfect evening and I can't thank them enough. read more

I came here with my parents who live about a half hour away. My stepmom was able to secure a 5pm dinner slot inside. It fills up pretty fast. Our server Manuel was friendly and efficient. I loved the yacht rock music. But it may have been a little loud for my Dad and stepmom. They both ordered the duck pasta. My dad wanted more duck. They also split the beet salad. I had the vegan saute- which was delicious. We all split two orders of the sage cheddar biscuits. A day later my mouth is still watering thinking about that. I can't remember the name of the mocktail- fruit juices and a ginger beer. It was also quite delightful. read more

Once again we had a great meal at Sage Leaf. I'm posting this update just to highlight the $6 split plate charge, the notice that they will only split checks to 2 credit cards maximum, and the 22% gratuity added for parties of 6 or more. I also don't like the fact that the printed credit card charge has suggested tips at 20%, 22%, and 25%. Be aware. read more

We came here for a date night. We were seated at a 4 person table as you enter the restaurant....a little awkward spot to sit. Our server was initially attentive but quickly lost interest in us as the night went on. We started with the duck fat fries and biscuits. Both very salty and fatty but so good. Delightful presentation. We then ordered "the burger" and crab cakes. Beautifully plated though the bacon was overdone as was the egg. Our server kind of forgot about us - luckily the hostess came by several times to clean up and check on us. I'd be curious to come for brunch or lunch next time. I think the evening crowd is more focused on cocktails and wine. I should have checked for mocktails on the menu. read more

Looking to beat the heat in reno so hopped over the hill for lunch at this place. I had seen it yelped before but just never had time to stop. I got there about 1pm which is cutting it close as it closes at 2 for dinner switchover at 5. but they were still bustling and tables were 3/4 full. Parking was easy although the lot is shared by many stores so i have seen it full at other times. They have indoor seating but the covered patio was beautiful today. I got the burger and instead of fries i took a chance and got the roasted tomato and red pepper soup. Yes i know soup is an odd pairing with a burger but i really wanted to try it. And so glad i did! It was fantastic. Great depth of flavor. The burger was grilled to a medium temp which i prefer, and i didn't even have to specify that. Great flavor in the patty and the fried egg in top added to it once the yolk was broken and oozed down the side. I asked for ketchup on the side because it comes with an aioli on the bun but i really didn't need it. The aioli was delicious. Service was spot on with good recommendations. Only nitpik was that $5 for a can of coke that is not refillable is a bit expensive when i can get coke for a buck all day elsewhere. read more

Finally made it to Sage Leaf, just in time for the Reno location to open closer to home. I loved the cozy vibes here. I wasn't expecting it to be set within a mixed business development but it def worked. The main restaurant was dark and a bit moody, but lively and hopping during this early spring season we're experiencing. The lobby of the building offers additional seating and a bit less volume. The night I visited they had a lovely guitar player with the most dulcet vocals. Our table was nearby and it was sweet to see how she engaged with the patrons, but especially the kids dining. Food wise we shared a bunch of the entrees including the chicken thighs. I loved how these were cooked but I really wanted more veg with my meal. The potatoes were crispy and the sun dried tomatoes a nice touch, but I found the dish pretty heavy and found myself pacing through it, leaving a thigh and plenty potatoes for the next day. Services was 100% solid. The staff knows the menu so well and really helped with defined recs. Oh ya. Those duck fat fries... get em! The truffle aioli is crazy good too. I will say they do not give you enough of it to enjoy with the order of fries. We asked for additional and the runner told us it came at an extra cost and we said ok, but our server said he would just bring it, but we did indeed have a $2 charge on our bill. Cocktails were also solid, I had a spicy tequila drink that was great with the food. All in all, solid, I was def expecting a more diverse menu but I am looking forward to a return and seeing what else they have to offer. read more

The atmosphere, cocktails and food presentation were is amazing. The burgers fell short of expectations and both were served a bit cool. Overall, the burgers were disappointing, especially given the price, however the atmosphere and the cocktails were amazing. read more

Their biscuits were my favorite maple honey Sage biscuits are made in house also had the soy chicken sandwich. my daughter said even the cheese quesadilla was delightful and there's not much to that but cheese in a tortilla however she was raving about it! Nice little spot in Incline! Staff were friendly and efficient. The weather was perfect for lunch on their outdoor patio. The wife and I both enjoyed our meals and cocktails. The duck fat fries were really good and the wife raved about her lamb burger. I had the pastrami sandwich, my only small gripe was that the meat had some chunks of gristle that were less than appetizing. Be prepared for Lake Tahoe prices here, 2 lunches and 2 cocktails came to over $90. read more

My sister is visiting and wanted to go up to Tahoe so we thought we'd grab some girlfriends and do brunch. We had eaten at this restaurant several years prior a couple times but hadn't been back since. Good experiences in the past so I suggested we come here. Made reservations via the website for next day unsure if they are needed when we got there there were two other couples eating. My sis and I took the bench seating and my friends had chairs which they noted were not the most comfortable. Javier was a good server greeted us bringing us drinks I had a hot chocolate which was great, of note they don't have oat milk. They also serve only basic drip coffee no lattes. There's a wide range of flavors for mimosas but we chose mango and we all liked them. Their menu looks delicious. Three of us however chose avocado toast, which itself is fairly affordable. It comes with radishes and balsamic and a couple other toppings that I pass on, adding an egg was 3.50 ouch and adding "candied bacon" was 4.50$ eeek, our fourth lady got the French toast. Javier asked me if Olive oil was okay which I appreciated and agreed it was; however upon eating my eggs and toast it was doused in olive oil like way too much and threw the taste off. I still liked my toast and eggs but the eggs and bacon came on the side not on top of toast which I guess I sort of expected and you can always make it that way yourself. I have to say, this was not bacon. This was just porky belly which is not in the least bit appealing to any of us. So that was definitely misleading on the menu and I think it needs to be changed especially for that price. Overall a decent experience and would consider returning when in the area. Of note, This review was in my drafts and is a late post from January 2025. read more

Small but very cute place. Came here after reading so many 5 star reviews. Unique lunch option, which is nice to see. Ordered a Bloody Mary, I didn't love the Smokey flavor, and I would guess maybe one shot . Also ordered soy chicken sandwich with fries (fries get a 5 star) and shrimp kabobs with sausage. First, it comes with 6, but they are very small shrimp. That was disappointing. The flavors were fine but certainly not a wow factor. read more

This is one of the best places you can go if you are vegan or just plant-based consumer of some sort because they have clearly marked vegetarian items for you there. Other than that vegetarians are well taken care of. The fried hash with chorizo is probably the best food item I have had in North Lake Tahoe since I've been renting in the area. The bartender was also our food server, and we of course, indulged in some of their craft cocktails. Those are not to be missed if you can afford to have one as they're not cheap. The one disappointment for me was that their storied Bloody Mary could not be made vegetarian. The mixture is premade and It uses Worsteshire sauce which has anchovies in it! Yuck! The venue is easy to miss as you drive by, but there's actually plenty of parking in the free garage just behind them. Be careful cause the uphill walk can be icy. !! read more

Stopped by for a quick bite before paddleboarding.... SO worth it!! We just had their French toast- best I've ever tried. Their bread almost has no crust/is soft all around. We've been coming to Sage Leaf since it opened. Note that the space is small, but you can sit at the bar and there are some tables in the atrium next to the Korean chicken wings shop. In the warmer months, there are outside tables, too, but they are not dog friendly. Our first experience ever was brunch at the bar. Everything was terrific, from the service to the thick bacon. More recently, just before the holidays, we found the vegan soup that came with the pastrami sandwich was full of stringy leek pieces and didn't taste quite right. The sandwich's ratio of bread to fillings was off, and the coffee wasn't hot. The fries were the hit of the day, but the dipping sauce was much too watered down. So when a friend suggested we meet there for lunch today, I had my reservations. Luckily, things have improved over the last few months. My friend ordered the pastrami sandwich on a gluten-free bun (still way too much bread) but subbed out the potato-leek soup for a side salad instead. I started with the gin pear drink and saw a nearby table had ordered the chicken bowl, so on our server's recommendation, I tried that. Compliments to the chef! This "bowl" has a rice base with spinach, tomato, garbanzo beans, some grilled chicken with great flavor, all topped with avocado mash and some delicious sauces. Definitely count that as a win! They close at 2 p.m., but we never felt rushed despite leaving about 10 minutes before closing. They also serve breakfast/brunch with the lunch menu, so if you're craving eggs, that's an option even in the afternoon. read more

I'm super bummed to report that we had a less than stellar experience last night at Sage Leaf. I reserved a table for 6pp for our last night with my parents in Tahoe. My husband and I are locals and have enjoyed Sage Leaf for breakfast in the past, but have never tried dinner. Our server was VERY nice but seemed confused the whole evening. He brought my Mom (2) gin and tonics back to back when she only ordered one, asked me what I wanted to drink after I had ordered a glass of wine 30 seconds earlier, and forgot to enter our burrata app, which never came. The biscuits (which we"ve had before and were amazing in the past) were room temp, overcooked, and dry. The butter didn't even melt on top because they weren't hot. My husband's duck pasta was pretty flavorless and floating in oil. I split their locally acclaimed burger with my parents, and while we ordered it medium, it was well done to well plus, burned and dry. Yuck. Total bummer for $250, with an included 20% tip tacked on for a party of 6. At least the fries and salmon were good, and they turned down the super windy AC when we asked the second time. Sigh. Won't be back for a while. read more
