Food gave our palate a new taste for sure. And not mad at it. Will be back def need to try a few other things. Service was ok nothing special. The place is def tight on the inside. Small tables. Very loud. Was it worth it. I'd say yes!

Updating my review since I had the opportunity to enjoy several dishes at Sylva on New Years Eve. Every single dish we tried was AMAZING. The staff provided friendly and fast service. They were attentive to everyone in the establishment even during dinner rush. I love this restaurant so much. 10/10 recommend. It's beautiful inside which is also a plus!

Fantastic dining experience. Absolutely loved the rustic Tahoe atmosphere and the open kitchen and bar spaces in this restaurant. It was so fun being greeted by the Kitchen action and watching the passionate chefs craft salads and pizzas as well as other Woodfire dishes from the small but mighty space right inside the entrance. I didn't think to look before hand, but this is a beer and wine only establishment, and though I thought I would be disappointed in that they offer a menu of spritz options which merge vermouths with wines and other accoutrement to create cocktail like offerings, and I tried the Spanish spritz. This was such a surprising combination and something that was so refreshing, but also somewhat warming like a brown spirit cocktail on a cool night. I appreciated the sweet and savory notes in this spritz and eating the pickled onion garnish while drinking it heightened the experience in a way. I don't think I could've imagined. Pretty fun to have dinner Start like that, but it kept coming as the menu is full of surprise and delight moments, just like it. As we looked at the menu, we quickly realized we wanted to order almost everything so with our long list in hand, we chatted with our server to see if we overcommitted ourselves or done things right and we were pleased to find out that we did it perfectly. Many changes frequently, but I will give you our order here: Melon and Nuoc Cham Octopus Radishes and Butter Roasted Japanese Eggplant Tagliatelle with rabbit and poached egg Shishitos and corn Hamachi Peach, Ricotta pizza (seasonal) All of them are good some stood out above the rest, but the entirety of the order worked well together as a bit of a tasting menu and we left full and happy. Service is absolutely a place in which this restaurant shines. Our server Asa had a great casual presence at the table and an impressive knowledge of the food to help guide us to the right selections. He checked in on totally appropriate intervals and made sure to ask the right questions to find out if everything was going well and how we could make the experience better. He seemed to genuinely care right out of the gate that we had a great experience and was quick to address absolutely anything we brought up with a smile, even when one of the dishes seemed to miss at our table he quickly corrected course and and asked us if we wanted a new dish or just to pass on it altogether. He was on it in a way that was incredibly refreshing. And to put the icing on the service cake, it was fantastic seeing the chef and owner serving plates and checking in with guests in an incognito fashion. That shows a lot of regard for both his team and his diner's experiences. I highly recommend this restaurant and hope to die in there again soon. Definitely make a reservation because it's small and it is clearly popular with good reason!

Came in on a Monday, lots of places aren't open here on Mondays so I'm grateful for that. They are closed Tuesday and Wednesdays though. Started with the heirloom tomatoes (not a tomato person but thought I'd pick out of the box). They were very good, probably would have enjoyed it a bit more had the tomatoes been chopped up a bit more so it could soak in more of the flavor of the ver jus, which I spooned out of the bowl to eat because it was so tasty. The hazelnuts were a lovely touch and crunch to the dish. Ordered the Spanish octopus and it was slightly disappointing. Almost to the point of being overcooked, octopus isn't easy to cook, I understand but it was not as tender as I'm used to and a bit fatty, and fatty is not something I've had on an octopus before. The black garlic aioli is not very complimentary to the dish, I tried to avoid it actually but the salsa verde was tasty. The fingerling potatoes were wanting to be crispy but I found them to be mushy and not to my palettes liking. I understand trying to add Kalamata olives to the dish to make it more Mediterranean but it made the plate too salty. There was a lot going on but none of it worked together. Loved the frisée though, not enough restaurants use it and it was a good texture to add. Very open and light decor. There is a small bar you can sit at or a small chefs table/bar where you can watch the chefs cook. Probably the best seat in the house to be honest but it wasn't available when I showed up so I sat at the bar. This place only has wine, bubbles and spritz - sorry boozy friends, no other cocktails. There is one rotating beer tap (12oz for $8), craft beer can selections ($10), a bottle of hard cider ($33) and a hard kombucha (16oz at $10). Was bummed when there were no Italian reds by the glass, only the bottle. Got to try the house made sorbet. The flavor of the day was blueberry, lemon and thyme and even though the lemon wasn't very present it was a well rounded sorbet. Ordered the Sweatah Weathah which was a salted honey and apple bar with a crème fraîche ice cream. The combo together was brilliant. Made the original 3 star review into a 4 star. I hope to come back and try other dishes that really wow me sometime soon. Also my bartender/server was doing an amazing job and running circles around this place when it got busy. Everyone seemed very happy with the Casey's service.

A nice fancier restaurant to go to after skiing (or after a nice summer day out on the lake!) Staff was super nice - I believe it's walk ins only so i would go around opening if you want to be in the first wave / not wait. Overall, everything was kind of salty for my tastebuds (but I'm notoriously salt sensitive lol) and I guess the altitude means more seasoning. Highly recommend the pork belly with kimchi - it was so so succulent and the acidic kimchi is a great pairing (honestly the combo tasted like kbbq). The fries were very much needed to tone down the seasoning. The fresh pappardelle was also amazing. Great pasta texture, super fresh dish which is a nice change from the heavier pork belly. The pan roasted gnocchi was also amazinggg especially with the duck confit. Another dish that kind of tasted like kbbq to me haha and that is NOT a bad thing. The mushrooms were super meaty and the gnocchi had a good combo of crispy outside soft and gooey inside. The chorizo pizza was pretty good but probably wouldnt get it again. I think there are other items i wouldve wanted to try in place of it but i guess we just really wanted some pizza after a day on the slopes.

Heirloom tomatoes and peaches - delicious

Loved the ambiance and small bites we tried (heirloom tomatoes with peaches and grilled ham n cheese). It was all so good and I can't wait to come back and try more! The service was friendly and quick. Definitely a must try in Tahoe City!

Sylva is absolutely amazing! This was my first visit, and everything: from the food to the service to the ambiance: exceeded my expectations. The duck fat taquenos were the standout and an absolute must-order. Think elevated mozzarella sticks: perfectly crispy outside, rich and indulgent inside, with a unique texture and flavor I'm still thinking about. Service was exceptional--attentive without being intrusive. My water glass was refilled instantly every time, which really showed the staff's attention to detail. The ambiance was spot-on: warm, inviting lighting that felt upscale yet comfortable. Overall, Sylva delivered on every level. Incredible food, top-notch service, and a great atmosphere. I'll definitely be back!

Hands down the BEST restaurant I've had in a long time! I will eat here every time I come back to Tahoe. Thank you Chef Andrew and Skip and the amazing team. We ordered: Duck Leg, White Peach Pizza, and the Cherry Crack for dessert. Everything 11/10!! I wish I would've ordered more!! INCREDIBLE and beautiful location as well

Discovering Sylva last fall when they first opened has been a mission to accomplish to drive to Tahoe city and make most of our time. With their ever changing seasonal menu with intent to utilize produce in their season and locally sourced was even more of a reason to visit. We had a wedding to attend in Olympic Valley so we had to make reservations to celebrate my partner and I's anniversary. Shimmer and Villa did everything as usual but to us our night felt extremely special with their attentive to detail in the flow of dinner service. We were seated at the kitchen table (open kitchen concept) which we love since watching the chefs at work is always a treat. We got a bottle of wine, which is also unique to the menu evading the common vineyards, from a small island in Italy, a light red that was beautifully partner with our dinner. Focaccia bread house baked with their house churned butter and bagna cauda was a nice introduction being light, fluffy and intriguing. My partner ordered the kimchi brine chicken thigh with grits and fell in absolute awe with the taste her jaw literally dropped. I had the royale burger with wagyu meat, perfect egg and duck fat fries cooked at medium rare which was perfect. Most restaurants cook medium rare and have the meat still bloody but this? PERFECTION. Juicy, flavorful and accompanied with pickled radish, squash, arugula, fresh red onions to top tickled my tastebuds. We saw another patron order tequenas and that was amazing. Imagine wonton wrapper, cheese pull, duck confit and green sauce that all came together in perfect harmony. We ordered the pizza to go to enjoy the following day while we get ready for our friend's wedding. Ended our dinner with the OG bread pudding topped off with crème fresh and shaved chocolate. In my opinion I loved this compared to Gar Woods (knowing Chef was from Christy Hills and created this dish there) Our server Kelly was amazing giving us the rundown, space and attention when needed so my partner and I were able to enjoy our dinner together. I can't wait to see the upcoming seasons menu as it transforms and happy a restaurant like Sylva is making a change in Tahoe. Thank you!

Slyva was awesome! We came in for a light dinner after a day full of heavy eats. We ordered the focaccia appetizer that came with house churned butter and a salsa verde. The bread was AMAZING, but the salsa verde was not my favorite. It was very mint-forward which I never love, but others enjoy it I'm sure. We also shared the white peach pizza. The crust was amazing as well--they know their bread. The flavors played together wonderfully. Lastly, we ordered a bottle of wine. The waiter wasn't extremely knowledgeable on the wines, but nor am I ;) however, service was amazing and friendly. The seating indoors is nice, however we were placed at an unfortunate table by the door that just seemed out of place/in the way. Will be coming back for a more complete meal next time!

This is a relatively new place in town. It's small and cozy and we heard the young chef came from Christy Hill. The hostess and servers were all very friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent and prices reasonable. We ordered some of the most popular dishes: Patè Melt was a tasty and interesting finger sandwich. The port soaked figs pizza came in a pretty legit Napolitano crust. The Peruvian chicken thigh was tender and the slight spicy sauce that reminded me a bit of the peri peri chicken. And the pork belly was an interesting American/Korean fusion dish with some kimchi. Overall a great dinner after a day of skiing.

I really wanted to like this relatively new restaurant. Decided to spend out anniversary celebration here. Nice write up in Tahoe Magazine. Small tables. Very close to other patrons. We decide to eat outside because inside table felt on top of the other tables. View was the parking lot. The menu was interesting, but up for trying new things. The server was great. The wine choices were unknown to me so picked the one Cab they had. Not bad, not great. It's a share type menu, which is great. We went for the little gem lettuce. Well it was lettuce. Some capers and cheese. I feel like if it had some vinaigrette on the lettuce it would have been less plain. Menu said goddess dressing, I saw, nor tasted any dressing. Also ordered the ceviche. The sauce was very vinegary. Fish ok. Not even close to a $25 dish. Lastly, the pork belly. Sorry, it was ok at best.

Wow. What a great addition to the Tahoe City dining seen. My wife and I stumbled in by chance on their opening weekend and were intrigued by their wine list and food menu. The dining room has moody lighting and the music was just loud enough to create a vibe without being overbearing. Our server Asa was extremely helpful in helping us navigate the menu as it was quite large and everything sounded yummy. We decided on a paté melt sandwich, a roasted sweet potato and a duck and chanterelle gnocchi. The paté melt came on a brioche bun that was accomponied by a delicious homemade mustard and picked mustard seeds. This was my personal favorite. The roasted potato seemed to have a Tum Yum paste on top along with a chili crisp. The lemongrass flavor paired well with the sweetness of the potato and was absolutely to die for. The duck and chanterelle gnocchi was good, but too one noted for my pallete. My wife loved it however, but we both agreed it could have used a smidge more salt. I can't wait to go back and try more of their menu and implore anyone in their area to give them a try.

We started with the lobster small dish as an appetizer and our 7 year old devoured most of it. It was so delicious. They were incredibly accommodating for my gluten-free and dairy-free needs. My black cod was AMAZING, cooked perfectly, just the right amount of complimenting flavors and ingredients, in addition to great broccoli. Lastly, the fact they had even one gluten-free/dairy-free dessert option was mind blowing. I was so pumped. It was a smooth and super flavorful coconut passion fruit house made sorbet.
