Short Rib Ravioli - most excellent!

Pro's: Great server/service, beautiful and fun ambience, excellent food. Con's: None Go back?: Absolutely More... Being from Reno I have wanted to go to this Mark Estee restaurant for some time and finally made it. We were so pleasantly surprised. My date was thrilled that I picked such a great spot. We enjoyed our craft cocktails - mine was the campfire which was like a Manhattan but with a marshmallow theme-even came with a toasted marshmallow garnish...totally fun. I ordered veal piccatta - one of my favorites. It was delicious although the second piece (generous portion) was a little too thick so it was tough, but the sauce was excellent with the 1000 layer potato stack...yum. The highlight was my dates entree - short rib ravioli. Wow...this was delicious. The pasta was so light and delicate, so it was not heavy on the pasta. It was so thin, almost like a wonton, but fluffy and delicious...what a hit! I would go back for that entree. Our server was excellent, too. Friday night, 7/14, working bar area-sorry I don't recall her name but THANK YOU!

We had a tasty meal with friends here last Friday. Service is friendly, our Server, Steve, was attentive and helpful, the restaurant is decorated warm-Italian style, and our food was fresh and tasty. We had Lasagna, Chicken Marsala, Caesar Salad with chicken, Warm Beet Salad and truffle fries. It was all delicious.

Italian food at its finest. The food is excellent, the wine and beer selection is great. A lot of seating from tables to booths to the bar. Been here twice and both times was very happy and full.

Cucina Lupo is the modern Italian neighborhood spot everyone community deserves and we're fortunate enough to have it in Carson City. My son was turning four and he wanted "pasta" for his special dinner and Lupo, with their scratch made pasta and seasonal cuisine, was the perfect choice. The kids shared the spaghetti and meatballs, which the kitchen happily split for us. Four adults shared the fried artichoke hearts (a must), roasted mortadella (yes you should) and the mussels and clams (mmhmm) and all of it was delicious! I will say that I wish there was a bit more to the mortadella portion but it was so good, as always. The mortadella they make is so damn good! I can never get enough! For dinner my wife and I shared the NY strip, medium rare, with charred broccolini and roasted cauliflower, and I'm here to say this was the most tender and delicious NY strip I've ever had anywhere. Perfectly seared, seasoned, and cooked, topped with a rich and velvety wine Demi sauce, each bite was better than the next, and the veggie sides were also perfectly done and damn good too. For dessert, you know we had a budino! We almost needed two but the special dessert of the night, a baked Alaska, made stretch far enough! Our server was also on point. I think it was Kenny? He had a nonchalant vibe but was super attentive without being too present, and happily addressed any need we had. This was one of the most pleasurable dining experiences I've had in quite sometime and I frankly can't wait to do it again!

I am very picky when it comes to steaks. Usually I just make it myself because of how picky I am. And although there are pretty good places out there, it's no joke when I say that this might be my most favorite prepared steak that a restaurant has served. The ingredients and herbs that were used accented the steak in a way I've never had before.. which makes me wish I had access to this stuff as well. The meat is also from a local farm which is awesome. Customer service is pretty good too. I definitely will be stopping by to grab this same meal every time haha.

Food and service were on par with my last visit. Will return next time I am in Carson City.

I love this place! The place is classy/casual. The service is always on point, sometimes a bit busy but never disappoints. I come here with my husband, I've brought friends here, but my guilty pleasure is coming here on a solo date. I usually get steak, their "contorni" side dishes are all so good it's hard to choose. The mushrooms are a favorite but so are these 100 layer potatoes, their cauliflower with chiles are so yummy. The focaccia bread was too good to make it to the photos. This is high on my short list of Carson dinner favorites. Espresso for dessert is a must.

    Tiramisu

The food, drinks and service were amazing. I will definitely be back. Probably one of the best restaurants in Carson City. A little pricey but worth it because the food is exquisite. They make the tiramisu in house and it's one of the best I've ever had. The beet salad is also delicious. Inside has a beautiful atmosphere and decide.

    Burrata appetizer and tasty Malbec

Had a lovely dinner here. The burrata appetizer was delicious! My spouse had the duck ravioli special and it knocked his socks off. I was looking for something lighter so got the chicken Marsala with carrot and broccolini sides and was very happy. Wrap it all up with friendly, attentive service and a bottle of wine and you have the perfect dinner out.

Love, love, love this restaurant, Cucina Lupo. We made reservations for 4 people, thank goodness we did. The place was popping. But as soon as we arrived our table was ready. We were greeted and seated right away. The environment was fun and inviting. The service was awesome. We receive water and bread right after we sat down. The bread was yummy and tasteful. The herbs they placed in the bread were full of flavor that made you keep eating it, and I'm craving it now just thinking about it. Our waitress had good knowledge of the menu which I appreciate! We started out with their famous Smoky Old Fashion. I really enjoyed their twist on this known cocktail - they add roasted marshmallows to it... OMG. At first, I was concerned about the sweetness, but with the choice of whisky, it totally makes sense. I give it a 10... AMAZING! After we ordered our drinks, we moved to the good stuff - the food. We ordered appetizers: Meatballs- House-Made Meatballs and Burrata - Grilled Focaccia, Prosciutto, Pesto, Tomato. For dinner we ordered: claims and mussels, Chicken Parmigiana, mushrooms ravioli and spaghetti. The food was excellent. The flavors of each dish were unique and specialized to each dish. Fresh Parmigiana was offered to each guest. More bread was brought along with olive oil and balsamic. At the end of our meal we were offered a dessert menu, but we didn't have room for anything else. What a wonderful place to eat with friends and family.

Short rib raviolis made with Wagyu beef and mascarpone.

Started with the Warm olives, not a big fan, weren't warm and very tart/vinegary. I ordered a glass of the Chalk Hill Chardonnay which was very good and an excellent Sonoma County wine. I ordered the short rib raviolis, which were filled with Wagyu beef, topped with a brown sauce, mushrooms and mascarpone cheese. It was very good. My husband had the chicken piccata, crispy polenta and broccolini which he thoroughly enjoyed. The only comment was that the chicken needed a little seer or gold to the top, not so pale. Our server was Cheyenne and she was very attentive and very friendly. We sat on the patio, which this evening was delightful with just a slight breeze.

Loved everything! We were in town from CA for a family event and decided to try this place out for dinner. So happy we chose this place. We were seated right away at a comfortably sized booth and our service was polite and attentive. Our food was absolutely delicious and drinks as well. My parents are normally complainers about something and they had ZERO complaints about the food. I forgot to take a pic but we also got Cesar salads with an impressive amount of cheese that were delicious as well. I only wish they served some type of fresh bread and butter with the meal, that would have really been something to push it to the next level. I'll definitely be back if I get a chance to come again! Thank you!

I'm giving 4 stars because there are still some great things here, and I genuinely want to see this place succeed. The good: The pasta is still fantastic. My boys and my husband all ordered pasta dishes, and every bowl was huge, perfectly cooked, and honestly delicious. They were raving about it. If you're craving a generous plate of pasta, they're still doing that right. We also ordered the Prawn Melinsae -- a dish we always get -- and it tasted different this time. Not bad, not great, just noticeably... off. Hard to put a finger on it. Where things went wrong: My mom and I both ordered fish (her the Sole, me the Salmon). Unfortunately, both were undercooked -- mine slightly, hers completely raw. This was especially disappointing because the Sole was the entire reason we came for her birthday; it used to be her favorite dish in Carson City. We asked to switch to the Eggplant Parmesan instead because we didn't want the fish simply re-cooked and possibly overdone. There was a bit of back-and-forth at first, but eventually they agreed. The issue is... the eggplant wasn't the same either. It used to be my go-to dish and the best in town. Now it's totally different, and not in a good way. The highlight: Our server was wonderful -- an older gentleman with a genuine Italian vibe, clearly passionate about his job and the restaurant. He advocated for us with the kitchen, made sure we were taken care of, and even brought my mom a birthday dessert on the house. He saved the experience, and I truly appreciate that. Final thoughts: I'm not sure if something changed in the kitchen staff, suppliers, or overall direction, but the shift is noticeable. For a $250 bill, the experience just didn't match the way it used to. If you stick to the pasta, you'll likely have a great meal. The seafood, though, I personally won't order again. I really, really hope they figure out what's going on, because this place used to be a gem and I'd love to see it get back on track. We love supporting small businesses, and I don't want to see this spot lose what made it special.

Indeed, it was the best Prime Rib I have had in a very long time. Our waiter and the Maitre de were outstanding. They made us all feel so welcome and almost like we were family. We all are still raving about the Prime Rib. There is something so wonderful about a place treating you like family. The human connection is something we all want. It is so awesome to feel appreciated and connected to our world and others. The staff here were outstanding. Everyone commented on the service we received. The appetizers and salads were tasty. The family members who had the salmon said it was excellent. Everyone was pleased with their meal. Portions are generous. All of us remarked on how good the food was. Not to mention, the price was right. The ambiance might be a little lacking. There are no tablecloths. However, keep in mind that tablecloths come with a cost of their own. They need to be laundered and then some need to be replaced. So there would be an added cost. So the question is would you prefer a little more ambiance or a cheaper price for an excellent meal? However, if you are looking for excellent service with delicious food at a reasonable price then this is the place for you. Not to mention, that the drive to Carson is beautiful. Plus there are plenty of things to do in Carson to enjoy. Perhaps it is time to beckon back to a slower pace of life. Take a nostalgic trip to Carson to see the Capitol all decorated for Christmas. We were told that the chef was on vacation. Should have just left then. Then after being seated and given menus, they came and took them back and gave us this paper revised menu since the head chef was out. Our actual waitress was Chelsea and she was fantastic. If not for her, I would give 0 stars if possible. The restaurant itself we really did not get to see much as we were tucked away in the 1st dining area by the entrance. No worries. It was nice and quaint inside and that's about where it stopped!! I asked about bread, and a different lady brought us 2 rolls that were barely room temp. Basically went from bag to bowl. We ordered our prime rib medium. As anything over that gets tough. We also ordered it with broccoli and when it arrived it had inedible asparagus. I mean they were so fibrous we could barely cut through them. Chelsea apologized and brough us out some broccoli on the side, and just like the rolls, it was barely room temp. Not her fault by no means. Now onto the very overly cooked prime rib. There was 0 pink in it. It was well done and very tough. It was also barely 1/4 inch thick. I mean the thinnest prime rib I have ever seen for supposedly being a 9oz. I have had 8oz at other restaurants twice the size of what we were served.. I managed to cut a couple pieces for my husband to eat. I dd not eat any of it. Basically we sent the majority of it back when we left. The only plus thing about this visit was the mashed potatoes and gravy. Still luke warm at best. I ate about 3 bites of food and was done with it. It was the worst prime rib I have ever seen/tasted in my life. Now Chelsea went and got our receipt for us, which of course was no charge, but if it was, I would have never paid 22.99 for what we received. It was that bad. Chelsea apologized several times and like we told her, you do not control what comes out on these plates. So yes she did get a nice cash tip for being such a sweet waitress and trying to do what she could. As far as the restaurant, we will not be going back for anything there. It is also only open Friday and Saturday from 4-close. I came home and made a sandwich for my now late dinner!

Our waters were never filled and our non-alcoholic beverage drinkers were never checked on to see if their drinks were ok/wanted something else/need anything. She also only checked on us 1x right after the food was dropped off to see if we needed freshly ground pepper and not again until it was time for desert and the check. For appetizers we had the Thai Scallops and the special Prosciutto Wrapped Asparagus. The Thai Scallops are one of our go-tos and they were good; however, they were pretty heavily breaded tonight. The Prosciutto Wrapped Asparagus was good but was hard to eat and could have used a bit more cooking. For my main I had the linguine and clams. I was HIGHLY disappointed in this tonight. The noodles were delicious and beautifully done but the "sauce" was nothing but pasta water. There was flavor: no garlic, no butter, no clams-no flavor whatsoever. The clams were also macerated as if someone chewed them up and spit them in the dish for me. My husband had the ribeye with gorgonzola butter and polenta. Everything was cooked beautifully and seasoned perfectly but his chunk of butter (his favorite) was so frozen it never melted-even by the end of the meal. For desert, my husband had the bread pudding and we had the crème brûlée. My husband said the bread pudding was good but slightly dry and cold. The crème brûlée was horrible. We sent it back and got "oh sorry someone new made them-big fail" and laughing. The brûlée was not even close to being set so it was pure liquid. It wasn't even a consistent temperature. I will say right off that the service was excellent. The wine we ordered was a Red Zinfandel , it was quite good. We considered an appetizer, but felt it would be filling and be too much since we were set on desert after our meal. So anyway, on to our meals. My friend had basically decided that she was going to order the Calamari steak, not commonly found on a lot of menus. She ordered the Calamari Piccata ( they have a choice of three different ways ). She chose the one done in a lemon caper sauce served over pasta with vegetable which was Zucchini and yellow squash, really great job on this vegetable, cooked perfectly, better than any I've had elsewhere. She gave me a taste of the calamari steak and I must say it was yummy. I ordered the ravioli three ways, meat, cheese and spinach and I chose it with an Alfredo sauce, the other choice was bolognese and I honestly wish I had chosen it instead of the Alfredo. Very rich sauce and I'm not convinced the ravioli tasted homemade, but I finished every last one of the ravioli. Oh, I forgot a salad was served before and it was one of the best Caesar salads I've tasted, rich and flavorful. We finished our meals and ordered two deserts which we shared. The tiramisu and the crème brûlée. Both very good, but the tiramisu was topped off with chocolate and whipped cream which added too much to the already rich desert . The Crème Brûlée we decided was our favorite. Overall, we had a nice meal and the staff was very nice and attended us very well. So, if ever in Dayton try this great spot, J's Old Town Bistro.

Kevin provided exemplary (super friendly & helpful) service, and everyone enjoyed their selections. We'll be back soon. This past Friday, my partner and I had another amazingly-delicious early-dinner at Sassafras. We love Sassafras! The restaurant is super cute with it's Sassy Creole/Cajun decorations, service is super friendly (Thank You Michelle S.!), menu choices are plentiful (with many veg and GF offerings), and the food is fresh, delicious and beautiful. Friday, we stuck with the Okonomiyaki's (1 with grilled chicken and 1meatless) and a bottle of the Backhouse Pinot Noir. We'll be back soon!

I ordered the spicy shrimp tacos and a beer, the tacos were okay the rice I wasn't crazy about the black beans were okay. The atmosphere I wasn't too impressed it was dark. The servicer was very nice and she always waits on my brother and sister in law, they are there every week. When I am in town again my brother will bring me here again I'm sure of it, I will try something new else and have a margarita my sister in law raves about them.
