I have been to this before, but did not review. Main reason for coming for lunch was to acquire the very loved Chilibeso to go in cans, but alas....they are out of season in late September...so we got a couple of pints instead....as always...so delicious!! We ordered the Nashville chicken tenders with fries and the Brussels sprout appetizer. The tenders were super hot and good...but be forewarned....this is not for the weak palate. Brussels are made Kung Pao style and they are so amazing...one of my favorite things on the menu. We were there on Sunday and no NFL ticket sadly, they did have red zone...but if I had to say anything negative at all, this would be it. As a sports bar with great beer...get some NFL ticket and watch your attendance numbers get much higher. read more

This was my first time in Carson City, and unfortunately, this was my first impression of the city. I came to visit family who lives here, and they always tell me how friendly everyone is, so I was especially surprised by the customer service. I interacted with four different employees during our visit, and unfortunately, none of them seemed particularly attentive or concerned with taking care of our table. I have food allergies, so I ordered the pizza with dairy-free cheese. Unfortunately, it was really disappointing. The crust tasted stale, and the pizza overall did not seem fresh. My mom ordered a burger, and her fries were not warm either. The overall freshness and quality of the food just wasn't good. Since I was still hungry because I didn't find the pizza very appetizing, I asked for a side of avocado so I could at least have something else to eat. I waited over 20 minutes for it. When I asked our waitress about it, she said they had gotten backed up. Earlier, the manager had told me he would get the avocado for me, but instead he left to sit and talk with some people and never brought it. When the avocado finally came, it was honestly about the size of a Costco sample. It was literally one bite of avocado. Overall, the food was disappointing and the service was even more disappointing. Unfortunately, this was not the first impression of Carson City that I was hoping for, and I won't be returning. read more

Just left after having dinner here for the first time. My husband I both ordered the cowboy burger. I should had knew something was up when my food arrived only 5 minutes after ordering. We both ordered our burgers medium. My burger was completely burnt and dry - while my husbands was undercooked. I have the feeling that mine had been maybe an extra that had been prepared earlier and just sat there under the heat lamp. While they undercooked my husband's in an attempt to get them both out at the same time. Every part of my burger from the patty to bread, onion, and bacon were dry and overcooked. The other frustrating part was we saw our waitress twice. Once when we ordered and then again when she flashed the bill at me as she picked up my card from the table. Another staff had dropped of the food. At no point did anyone check on us or dare to ask how the food was. Even after obviously seeing that neither one of us ate our food. I will never return here. The only positive part was their Diet Coke was good. This place always looks busy so I thought it was going to be good. Nope a waste of $50. If this is their normal service quality - folks wild fare better at a Burger King. read more

I ate at Great Basin Brewery today. I've been to another location before and was so happy with my meal that I decided to try this one. I was a little disappointed that the special I had previously ordered wasn't available, since it was so delicious, but I tried the Salmon Tacos from the regular menu instead. They are absolutely fantastic. The Cajun flavor of the fish pairs really well with the cubed mango (?), and the nice crunchy texture combines perfectly with the tender fish. The tacos are just absolutely delicious. After my meal, I had a little more work to do, so I was somehow convinced to order dessert. Cake and ice cream are my absolute favorite, and this cake was gluten-free, so I had to say yes. It was so good. The ice cream tasted homemade. The vanilla flavor did not taste artificial. The cake was moist and fell apart with a fork, but it had a slightly crispy edge around the top. It was so good. I was 100% happy with my lunch today, and the servers were super accommodating. Nice central location short waking distance midway between the Nevada State Museum and the capitol. Nice atmosphere, large with screens. Great sevice although food took a while but that's was not the norm supposedly. Great beer selection, duh. Good menu variety. Good food. Why 4 not 5 stars? Weak Happy Hour. $2 off pints and wine and app food deals BUT they do smaller portions. Sort of defeats the purpose of Happy Hour prices and gives off a bait and switch vibe. We ordered the fried pickles and brussel sprouts. Check out the photo. The fried pickles were 3 slim pieces, pretty ridiculous. Brussel sprouts were night and day difference on the portion size. I went during lunch and it was perfect timing. I decide to get the fried chicken sandwich but make it Nashville hot with some sweet potato fries. It was great and had a kick that I could actually taste. They had a new waitress training at the time and she did a great job. No complaints, no food was left, and we were in and out with no extended wait or any issues. read more

After exploring the area, we decided on enjoy a beer (or two) and some food. Well we walked in and were quickly seated. Our server, sorry forgot your name, was helpful and able to answer our questions, we decided on a few items and our party of six shared them. We ordered two pizzas (pepperoni and a capitol combo), we got the pretzel, caesar salad, BBQ brewmaster plate and a few beers. First off the pizzas are delicious and easy choice for anyone who comes here, it will not miss. The bbq platter was also very good, the portions are not huge but each sausage was tasty. The pig wings were tender and flavorful with the hot honey sauce. The pretzel was also great and paired with the stone ground mustard from the bbq plate was excellent. The only item that I think I would change would be the Memphis wings, they were on the salty side for all of us, the flavor is there but a lil too salty, I think the hot honey sauce would have been a hit on those wings. We tried a few beers the lager, Juicy IPA and an amber ale. I skipped the lager, my dad enjoyed his brew. As for the other two, I found them to be refreshing with a nice balance of hops for each of them and a great companion to the dishes we ordered. We had a very nice lunch in this brew pub near the State House. Plenty of seating and the staff was very friendly. We had the fried zucchini which was tasty but note it is super fried with a lot of batter. Tastes great but probably not the healthiest thing we could get. We then shared a salad and a margarita pizza. Both were very tasty and a good amount to share for 2. My wife had a marg and said it was tasty and I had the Bock to the Future beer which was great. Staff were friendly and wonderful as always. This is one of our go to spots in Carson and I think the kitchen was having an off night. Food was very slow to come out and when it finally did we were a little disappointed. My husband had the Cajun chicken Caesar wrap, but there was nothing Cajun about it. He said it just tasted like Caesar. I had the crispy fish tacos and they were not crispy at all. The usual golden brown outside was soft and just tasted doughy. The new chipotle sauce was nothing to write home about. I preferred the green sauce they used to have on it. The fries were top notch as always. I can't believe I'm actually going to give this review a one star review. Great Basin Brewing has been a favorite of ours for well over a year almost 2 years now. It's been our go to place. Today being Father's Day, we were out and about in town and decided we would eat there. All the way there I kept bragging to my grandson how great this place is and it's our go to spot. yada yada yada. It wasn't very busy and we were seated very quickly. The service has always been pretty friendly. The service today was adequate and I'll get to that in a second. My grandson ordered the pork belly, Mac and cheese. I kept saying how that is a really good choice and he's really going to like it. My wife ordered the half rack ribs with fries and coleslaw. I had what I think is called the butchers platter with ribs, chicken wings, and pork belly. The food arrived and looked pretty darn good. But that's where it ends. My wife kept saying how salty the food was. And I got to thinking about that as I was eating my wings with the so-called Memphis dust flavoring on them. Those were equally salty so I thought wow OK maybe it's just our taste buds. Then I tried my ribs and they were also salty. I tried my wife's ribs just to see if they were that salty and come to find out they really were and dry. The fries that came with my wife's food tasted like they were old like they've been sitting out for a while. The coleslaw was also bland. After bragging about the pork belly and cheese, my grandson stated that it was pretty bland with very little flavor. So I tried it just to see what was going on and sure enough it was really lacking something what I don't know. I'm thinking garlic because it was pretty darn bland. I honestly hate to give a review like this because I really like this place as I said before it's been our go to spot. Now, as far as the service the server, she was very friendly, but that was pretty much it, after getting our food she didn't even check on us until it was about time for us to leave and she brought us our check. It's just kind of weird because there's a couple of servers here that are exceptional. So I don't know what's going on, but this was a very big letdown for a couple of regular customers. As usual, the place is clean and spacious with plenty of TVs to enjoy sports. In the end, the beverages were about the best part of the meal. It was Father's Day, so my beer was free so thank you for that maybe this was just a rough day. I don't know. I don't know if you have new cooks or what but this was pretty bad considering how much we like this place and how good it has always been. read more

A lot could improve. After an 8 hour day of packing up and unloading a u-haul, my dad and I wanted comfort and a cold one. We got seated at the last resort high top table that didn't match any of the other wooden ones, all I could smell was the metal and both our chairs were wobbly. It's all good but our waters took a while to come out and then my dad's beer took 10 minutes before she came back to tell us they were changing the keg. When we got our beers, they were filled to the brim and had no carbonation. Is that like a thing now, with beers being flat? I looked around and the other beers I noticed didn't have bubbles either. Anyway, since we were uncomfortable we ordered a few items from the happy hour to share. I will say the food was good but they need help with service, the design/layout of the tables, clean out the tap lines, and more comfortable seating. read more

The four of us popped in for lunch after our visit to the nearby Nevada Railroad Museum. My BIL suggested this for our lunch respite after being here before. We were seated and handed menus. Andrew was our server. He was very attentive and had loads of energy. Being a brewery we had local beers and a mocktail. Lunch entrees- * sis & BIL both had two piece fish & chips * hubby got the fried chicken sandwich * I got the cheeseburger with onion rings (sub)- I requested well done. A bit too done. Had lunch here today with a few friends. The place looked nice. Had an old time rustic feel to it. We were greeted and seated pretty much as we walked in. I had a look over the menu and decided that I was going to order the patty melt with fries. We waited a while for our waitress to come by and take our orders. I think she got a little busy because it was during the lunch hours. She was also waiting tables outside. Once she took our orders, it took a little while to get our food. Again, maybe it was because it was because of the lunch rush. Once I received my food it was ok. The bread was toasted a little too much to where it was hard and kind of scratched the roof of my mouth but, it wasn't too bad though. The fries seemed fresh. The patty melt was just average for me. Great little brewery in Carson City. Very busy on a Friday night, but we were able to go right in and sit at the bar. Great bartender, just got us in under the happy hour wire. The squeeze only had a soda, but I had the Truckee River Red, nice sweet caramel and roasted malt flavors. We both had two fish tacos, one would have been good. The hunk of fish was huge, well battered and fried to a golden brown.cole slaw and guac finishes it off. We were expecting street taco size. I can see why it gets busy.
