Burger, pastrami sandwich, BLTA, fish & chips, and the brisket. The Tahoe IPA beer was great. Kids all ordered soft drinks, plenty of refills offered! We all enjoyed our meals, except brisket boy. He was expecting BBQ brisket, but the plate was more of a roast beef with gravy, mashed potatoes, and veggies. Fish & chips were pretty good, with 2 nice sized chunks of cod. The sandwiches were nice, burger solid! The fries were really good, seemed like fresh cut. When I looked at what others were enjoying, we observed that the wings look to stand out. Came for the fish and chips (I changed FF out for a salad). I came because it was suppose to be "The Best". I grew up in the Midwest with Fish Fry Fridays all year round and I can tell you this was NOT the best. It was way over cooked, the batter was way too thick and very greasy. I got better fish at a church fish fry in Reno last week. Also ordered a Cobb salad at our table. Chicken was over cooked and dry. Waitress was able to get a fresher one. Today on our quest to fill up our Nevada Craft Beverage Passport, it led us here. We ordered a pastrami sandwich and an order of nachos, and we enjoyed both. The nachos were covered with beer cheese which, while good, didn't quite work as well for me as traditional nacho cheese. The pastrami on the sandwich was excellent--very lean and flavorful. It was served on grilled sourdough, which was good, but personally I would have preferred it on a soft Italian roll similar to what you get at The Hat. I also tried a flight of their beers, with the Raspberry Red being my favorite. Overall, we really enjoyed our lunch and look forward to coming back to try more of the menu. Double ipa was only double in not being good at all , did not taste hoppy and frankly tasted awful,settled for a Coors light & that's a hard settle to swallow at a BREWERY. The patio is great as was the service just SOL on the beer. Needing to kill a little time & some sustenance returned to the bar some hours later. Still wanting a good cold beer but knowing better I chose a tequila from the meager,frankly pathetic booze selection and ordered the spinach dip. The dip is smaller and kinda taste like frozen or canned spinach because I recall it being a solid flagship type of app, not so much. I do love the vegetables, they had yellow, green squash, broccoli and cauliflower as an afterthought, they were perfectly cooked but the cook went a little overboard with the salt. I would just eat the vegetables alone but the order came with a cottage pie. I just ordered a side of vegetables too, never can get enough vegetables. Unfortunately the back bar is not staffed tonight so I had to contend with the noisy restaurant part of this restaurant. The whole experience at Fox Brewery was enjoyable. I went out with my kids and one of them is celiac. They ordered a Hawaiian pizza with gluten free crust. The waiter was assured us they were good about cross contamination and they really were. My kid can tell because they are very sensitive to gluten. I had the Steak and mushroom pie with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. It was done just right, with a crisp flaky crust and tender steak and mushrooms inside. My son had a burger that he said was very good and my daughter had the chicken wrap with fries. She said it was very good, not dry like many wraps can be. We have been here before and look forward to going back. We do prefer to go when it is a little quieter, as the restaurant is small and can get nosy when crowded. Great service, nice place, but the "Mac & Cheese" was the weirdest mac n cheese I've ever seen. Go look at my photos, and you tell me if that looks anything like mac n cheese. First off, they're kind of tricking us by having Mac in the name because it's not macaroni. It's penne pasta. OK, that's fine, but then, where's the cheese? What I got was sorta melted in with bits of bacon. But I expected a pub to serve a big, tight, cheesy mess of mac & cheese. What I got was just not fun to eat. Wonderful pub in downtown Carson City by the Capitol building. Nice decor with a few TVs on for sports. Extensive menu and full bar. The squeeze and I split the beef dip. We added the garlic fries. The sandwich seemed kind of small for the money, but it was loaded with very tender beef. Dunked that in the jus, presto. She had a Hop Tahoe and I did the Seamus Red. Both were quite good brews. I ordered the Pastrami sandwich today and was not impressed. The bread was not fresh and it was not toasted. I don't know what their intentions were when they prepared it. Pick one or the other. There was very little pastrami on the sandwich. I took all the meat and made a regular size half of sandwich. The Fox has such a fun atmosphere -- I especially love sitting out on the patio during nice weather months. I've been twice in the last month and had two different experiences, both overall very good. The first was with a big family group (about 8-9 of us, including two kids). The kids' meals were great portions at a great price, and everyone seemed to really enjoy their food. Drinks were flowing, and I had the fish and chips -- huge portion, super tasty, I couldn't even finish them. The only downside that night was some wild up-charges -- $4 for a slice of cheese on a kids' burger, and $4 each to upgrade fries to garlic fries. The garlic fries didn't come out great at first (soggy), but they did replace them with a much crispier batch after we sent them back. Still, between the cheese and the fries, our bill was about $20 higher than expected just from up-charges. The second visit was a quick patio lunch with my husband, which was so peaceful and pleasant. I had the steak salad and really loved it -- fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. My only gripe was the cut of steak: sirloin is a bit too chewy for a salad. A smaller cut of skirt steak or something similar would have elevated it from great to perfect. One thing I do love here is the rewards system -- because we spent big on our family dinner, my lunch with my husband was basically free. Can't beat that! Overall, I'm giving 4 stars -- everything was delicious, the atmosphere is awesome, and the rewards are a big perk. They just lost one star for the wild up-charges and the chewy steak. read more

Quality/Quantity - If you are following you know I am a red beer drinker now. So my first set of tasters were: Irish Style Red, Raspberry Red (really tasted like a sour), and the Golden Dry Hop Ale. Sadly and surprisingly none of them were to my liking. BUT if you like raspberries and/or sours, you will really like the Raspberry Red! She recommended Hazy Street IPA, FoxTrot Strong Ale, and the Karma Sutro. The Karma Sutro won, not only did it win, I liked it so much I got the 20oz. Red Chile Stew - This or soup = perfect on a cold windy icy day! Chicken Jambalaya - I could not decide on this or the dip, but I am glad I chose this. I have not had luck with Jambalaya in the past, typically way too "soupy." This was much better (not perfect, but much better than what I usually get from other places). And more importantly, the perfect combination of Jambalaya with rice. I had to fight off my friends from wanting more from my dish, LOL. I've been going to Carson City the past 35 years after moving to Reno, and today is the day I walked into the Fox brewery. My husband and I sat outside in the sunshine and first thing is to decide what are we going to drink. I like Mexican lagers, and there was one on the menu, we each ordered one. It comes outside in plastic cups and it looks like an IPA, dark with a red tint. Mexican larger is light color beer. The waitress explains they're out of glasses, and it's not that busy. OK. I have a taste of my beer and it's not what I ordered, I told the waitress she said I'll bring you a taster of the Mexican Larger, it's significantly lighter in color next to the beer in the plastic cup and not so hoppy, she says I'll bring you one of those. Guess what? We got the same damn beer again in plastic. Why is it everyone else has glass? Other servers were giving customers glass. Now, it's time to order food, we both decide on the Chicken Pot Pie. I was excited to get my lunch it's piping hot, it's huge, and it's homemade from scratch! The crust is doughty and needed another 10mins. I continue to eat mine anyway. I don't like to send back food, you just never know what they'll do to it, especially if I can't seem to get the right beer let alone in a glass. Bri and Ariel were fun and true ambassadors for Carson City and the region. In addition to advice about the beer and menu, they gave local tourism advice with a sense of humor. They made us feel welcome on our first visit and managed a busy restaurant and bar simultaneously. Bri managed helping us pay with our fussy gift cards, and we all learned a little Spanish along the way.... such as how to pronounce quesadilla and what the equis in Dos Equis means! Bri's skinny margarita was perfect as was her "job application" story (you will have to ask her that one.) And Ariel shared the true meaning of her name (it's not the mermaid.) they are both beautiful and friendly and sweet and I hope to return to share the travel stores based on the advice they gave (Fox itself is in a historic building.) Mom had french onion soup and she said it was good. The burger we ordered was not cooked well done. We had to send it back. Also, was graded as "meh" by the eater. No bacon on a bacon cheeseburger? We went here today to celebrate a birthday with a small group. They were pretty accommodating with where we wanted to sit. We ordered cheese curds which were pretty yummy. The dipping sauce they have with the curds is delish. We also ordered three different burgers with garlic fries. The burgers were pretty good, but the garlic fries were sub par. The fries tasted very stale and were cold when we got them (burger was warm though) so I would assume the fries just weren't freshly made. They helped us pick out a beer we liked by giving us some samples to try which was nice. The reason I'm giving 3 stars is because the service was a bit sub par and the food was just okay. They weren't too busy but they were not attentive. The waitress forgot to bring out napkins until we were about to leave and we had to ask for them. They didn't give us any refills on our soda and we were there for well over an hour and a half. They also charge a 3% fee if you pay with a credit card, so keep that in mind. read more
