I've been to this Great Basin location about half a dozen times now. I love lots about it but still think there's some room for improvement. First things first, the outdoor space and fun family friendly atmosphere can't be beat here. They have the best bar hang out experience ever with a huge property, outdoor games, large indoor and outdoor seating areas, and plenty of food and drink choices for everyone. The service here is decent. You walk up to the counter or kiosk to order and then you get a text when your food is ready and you'll have to walk over to pick it up. Wait times can be long when it's busy, but I've never been unsatisfied with the wait times. I think the biggest area of improvement at GB is the food and drink consistency. Most of the time the drinks here are good, but sometimes GB beer is spotty and other times the cocktails are made inconsistently between bartenders. The food also varies quite a bit. I've had very undercooked burgers and unseasoned chicken tenders from here. But I've also had fantastic pizza and their buffalo chicken Cobb salad is killer. There are a lot of younger employees in the kitchen and I wonder if high turnover or poor training is to blame for inconsistent product. Overall I'll keep coming to this GB location because of its vibe and unbeatable outdoor atmosphere. The food can be up and down but it's been good most of my visits and I'll just stick to the things I know are great. If you haven't been over here yet, make a stop. We've been to Great Basin in different locations and decided to try this one out. You order at the counter or use the QR to place your order. We found a spot inside to eat-- they have a nice outdoor area too. The menu is pretty much the same as the other locations. I was expecting the same quality as the other locations. Felt the pizza didn't have any special taste to it and the Brussels sprouts were a little too heavy on the sauce. The cheese fries were okay. Didn't try the pretzel so can't speak to that one. Maybe it was an off day, I'd be open to try again and see how it goes. read more

We grabbed a bison burger, NY style, Detroit style pizza. The burger was good and so were the pizzas. Now I'm not from NY so don't judge me for liking the pizza if it's not a "true" NY pizza. There were games outside so our kids had fun. They had plenty TVs on with sports on for all the sports people. Big selections of beer. The service was good. Yesterday we went to Great Basin Brewing for lunch. It is a restaurant where you get in line to place your order and they text you when it is ready. They had a fun area outside so if you have little ones they have yard games set up for them to play. We both ordered the Buffalo Chicken Cobb salad. We both really enjoyed the salad. They did not skimp on the chicken, blue cheese and bacon! Also the lettuce mix was plentiful and fresh with lots of cherry tomatoes, onions and a boiled egg. It had very good blue cheese dressing. We were looking at a lot of entrees as they came out of the kitchen and I can't say how the pizza tastes but I want to go back to try it. It looked absolutely delicious!! read more

Onion rings = bomb. Kung pao Brussels were fun and a nice side dish alternative. Kids say the chicken nuggets were good. Beer - Ickys back baby! Clean and fresh tasting, wife's tasters of saison and stout were great too. The hot wings had a strange taste like they use liquid smoke, maybe. My husband liked them but I'm not sure why they taste like that. The burgers didn't have much flavor. Went here for lunch for the first time today. Got in a bit early so no crowds. Walked in through the meat shop and sat at the bar. Order burgers and fries. I prefer less bread than a burger bun so bartender offered icky bread as an option (good choice)! The burgers wet fantastic, as were the fries. I was pretty disappointed with our experience here, unfortunately. I had heard great things about this place and was excited to see that they have an awesome patio for warm weather. However, they have signs everywhere that say the patio is not dog friendly; service animals only. My friend said she used to bring her dog here all the time, so maybe the rules recently changed and they are cracking down now. This would be such a fun place to hang out on the patio with your pup, so that's a bummer. I was also surprised to see that this is an order-at-the-counter type of place, unlike their other locations. You can order from your phone and they call your name when it's ready--this is for both drinks and food. It felt odd to be there for dinner but not talk to a staff member the entire time. I suppose some people like that feature and find it convenient, but not me since I appreciate interacting with other people. We both got beers and burgers for our meal. My husband got the Mushroom Burger and I got the Green Chili Burger. The burgers were great, you can tell it's high quality meat and they both had good combinations of topping. Despite how good it was, I'm sad to say that I got so sick a few hours later! I know it was from eating here because this was the only new thing I ate that day, and I felt fine otherwise. The no dogs, no real service, and having to spend too much time in the bathroom that night make me only able to give this place 3 stars despite the food being more like 4 stars! read more

Gayle does a huge amount of community volunteer and is sometimes busier retired than she was in her career. So late last Friday morning as I was finishing up some charitable work myself, she declared that she was taking a break and that we should go out for Lunch. Hence began Gayle Bueller's Day Off - Rated G. During our drives to and from the gym at the Douglas Community Center, we've noticed the building progress of Great Basin Brewing. Maybe a couple weeks ago Yelp Reno ran a video on Instagram about it. More recently, NextDoor, a local Facebook page, and word-of-mouth told us it was time to check this place out. The inside of Great Basin Brewing is wide open, with lots, of light, a lot of tables to choose from, several big TV screens, a separate beer bar, and an order counter (either in person or via kiosk). As we arrived just after Lunch hour, the place was manageable busy and not too noisy. As not to take any chances with seating, Gayle found a nice table, while I ordered our meal. The beer came out right away, while our food arrived soon after, via going back up to the counter and fetching it. We ended up ordering a lot of food for the money.. That included Beer (Milk Stout for both of us), a Green Chile Burger for Gayle, a Patty Melt for me, and a basket of fries for the table. I really enjoyed my Patty melt which as expected was a bit on the greasy side. Gayle thought the meat on her burger was very good, but really didn't pick up any taste in the Green Chile. We would have been happy with half the portion of the fries provided, but yet we ate most of them anyway. We'll be happy to return here, whether together or with friends. On our list to try would be a regular cheese burger, pizza, other beer choices, and outdoor seating (in season). Now here's a couple interesting oddities: 1. We can in through the back doors which requires you to PUSH to get in and PULL to get out. I thought that most fire codes require the opposite? 2. Pulling into the parking areas requires some planning and maybe a unique turn or 2. One main IN option is 1 way, which means you shouldn't leave that way, even though that looks logical enough. OUT finally makes sense, kind of. 3. Ketchup and Mustard are free and plentiful. A small dish of Ranch is $1.50 extra. By my Midwest standards, that's blasphemy. ...... You're still here? This Great Basin is different than the one in Carson City. Their service model is order from the kiosk or at counter, kind of confusing, sit down if you can find a seat, we were lucky, then they call your name out to come pick up your food. It is very loud in here so hard to hear your name. They place the food on a countertop that does not have heat lamps and wait for the whole order to be ready to call your name. We watched one order sit for about 10 minutes before it was call. Enough on that. The craft beer was very good and our pizza was good. There are a couple of things that went on here that I do not like to see at restaurants, employees drinking behind counter and they were preparing dipping sauces on the pick up counter. The place was a bit hectic and not very organized but they are new. Because of the food and beer we will give them another shot. read more

We tried this for the first time on Friday and gathered to celebrate a friend's birthday. The place specializes in craft beer, great food and Park Ranch Meats which are available from the deli section when you first walk in the place. The service was quick, but this is the type of place where they don't come to you, you go to them and order either from the bar or from some kiosks in front of the kitchen. The place is brightly lit and there's plenty of shade outside too. One awkward part I'll mention is that their parking lot is meant to be approached from the South; definitely not the north and the signage doesn't really warn you where to turn other than when you do, the lane is optimized only for northbound traffic and not southbound traffic. When you leave the place you can figure out other ways to get in / out, but at first, it's not obvious. Fun place for beer, food and cocktails! read more

Great building but the food was horrible! I have never left a restaurant hungry it was that bad. I ordered a bacon lettuce Avacado tomato sandwich with fries. The bread was burnt and the bacon was old and dried out. Took three bites and was done . The French fries were greasy and overly salted. My husband had a dried out chicken sandwich with greasy onion rings . He did not finish his meal either. They also charge a service fee for a bank card. Not impressed and will not return! After a morning of fishing, a friend and I decided to grab some food at the Great Basin in Gardnerville for lunch. The inside was nice. They had a meat shop as you walk in where you can buy steaks, ribs, hamburgers, etc. I guess the beef is locally raised. In the restaurant part, you walk up to the register and order your food and find a seat. They also had a kiosk on the side if you wanted to order your food yourself. Since the line was going a little slow, I ordered my food through the kiosk. The weird thing was that it was asking for a tip. I wondered why would I give you a tip since I'm ordering the food myself. Then I have to pick up my food myself. It's not like anyone is serving me. Maybe it's for the guys in the back cooking my burger. I left them a tip. I ended up ordering the green chili burger with fries and a drink. They text me when my order was ready and I walked up and picked it up. I thought the burger was really good. I rate it as one of the better burgers I've had. There was a good amount of garlic taste in it. I think they put garlic in their sauce spread. I love garlic and onions. They put a good amount of onions in the burger too. The burger was soft and juicy. Man it was good. My buddy on the other hand didn't enjoy his burger as much. He doesn't like garlic or onions. He's probably a vampire or something. Overall, my experience there was nice. The place looked clean. If I'm ever in the area again, I'd get another burger there. Maybe try the mushroom burger this time. Yummy! read more

We have been to Great Basin multiple times. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean. You can order on your phone or walk up to a register to order. They have a nice patio that is family friendly and dog friendly. The food is good. Great burgers, wings and sandwiches. IPA's too! I would recommend Great Basin. We have been to the Great Basin breweries in Reno, and in Carson. We started going back when it was just the one in Sparks, and we used to talk to the owner back in the day. I ordered the chicken sandwich, which was awesome. We ordered, deep dish pizza, and I order some icky, which is my favorite beer. We had pretty good service, and it was nice sitting outside just for a while as it was cold. we had a dog, but things were OK sitting outside, enjoying the fresh air. We have been in such a desperate need for a place like this. It's amazing how this town doesn't understand how important it is to have a great outdoor seating vibe. Nothing around here has that. I really hope they do some corn hole boards and other fun outdoor stuff. This place was BUMPING. It really shows how much we needed this. I'm only taking the time to write this review because this place has great potential and I believe these critiques can help evolve it to its peek potential. The great: - Food tasted great and was well made and served. - A super cool environment with cornhole and other activities. - Dog friendly. - Great menu options! - Love the aesthetics of the place. Things to improve: -The oils in the food. Although the food was great, It upset my stomach the rest of the day. The times I get that eating out, it's because of bad cooking oils. (I'm a foodie as cringe as that sounds lol) Would help to use better cooking oils or change more frequently. (I'm typing this on the Jon as we speak.) - The staff is not friendly at all. I got a "what are you doing here" type of glare from one employee when walking in. Two young ladies behind the pick up counter looked bored and disinterested. One started shouting back and forth with the chef. One fellow taking the orders was super friendly and was awesome. A better trained staff could really amplify the atmosphere. in this case it brought it down. We have enough attitude in California, I would expect more of that small town charm. - It's clear where the entrance is, but it's disorienting where the hell you go and what to do when you're a first timer. lol - Walking in for the first time, instead of an employee asking if we needed direction, it was like a stare down as listed above. lol. - After evaluating, I didn't have attitude myself. lol This is a great idea and awesome way to create a more self serve approach to dining.
