Pattie Melt, which I really wish they would've put on Rye not
Tara S S.

Really is a greasy spoon. I know Pattie Mel is greasy, but this seemed extra greasy. And I wish it would be on Rye not sourdough Really slow service. Food was OK not great. Just so so.

After years of wanting to have a good experience at Cook'd, David provided it. The food was good but his attentiveness, professionalism and generally kind interactions made dining an experience not just a meal. Hopefully this is a turning point for a historically "hit and miss" restaurant.

We checked out this place for lunch one day while visiting the area. First of all, our service was perfect. Thanks, Tony, for being there for every request and elevating our visit. We were there for the lunch special that includes Tuesdays. I had the two of the local IPA's and one of them I hadn't even had since being in town for a few days. Good selection. The wife got the Zughetti with Alfredo and the soup, and I got the half Bird chicken sandwich (the one that comes with alfredo) with the tomato soup. Our dessert with the special was a local banana pudding. Food was solid. The bar area looked fun, as it was packed with some regulars event. They have video poker at the bar. LOTS of TV's if looking to watch a game. I actually loved the venue. Whether looking for a nice lunch, needing to see a game, or just wanting to go somewhere with some energy, this is a great spot to stop at. We enjoyed our lunch there. I would recommend this place, and see you there (the next time we are in the area)...

We went for our anniversary dinner Staff were friendly as always. Even though we had a reservation we didn't need it and were seated right away. We had the garlic chips, spicy turkey melt, and the penne bake. The garlic chips and turkey melt were on point. The Alfredo sauce was definitely the star of the bake. For having chicken and shrimp in this dish, you could blink and miss both. The dish was delicious, but when it came to the proteins there was minimal in my serving. We love coming to Cook'd and look forward to dining again!

We had lunch here. The experience was amazing. Very clean, food was amazing, service top notch and I highly recommend anyone to try them out. I know their signature foods are pizza and burgers. But we had the Ribeye Steak , rice and green beans. We also had artichoke dip for the appetizer. Delicious !!!! Can't wait to comeback.

We visited Cook'd for the first time today, we stopped by because the building looked cool and we were hungry! But we will come again and again, because the service, food and drink were amazing, our waitress Jenny (might be spelling that wrong) was lovely. We laughed, she gave great recommendations, and a wonderful experience. Wonderful atmosphere as well. We look forward to going back!! Next time we intend to get more photos, if we don't scarf everything down so quickly again!!

I understand everything is hand made. Does that include the pasta?

Yes! The Pasta is hand made! Just went for lunch on Sunday. I had the Toasted Ravioli. It was the Bomb and definitely hand made. Best I have had since my early years on the Italian Hill in St. Louis Missouri.

And we brought some Bay Area friends with us. We also came in mid-week to avoid any crowd potential. Our evening began at the bar with a round of Picon Punch, the official drink of the State of Nevada. I first thought that this was a drink that you only ordered once, but this small glass of goodness actually grew on us. After closing the bar bill and looking at all the branded merchandise, it was off to the main dining room. We chose the Basque Family Style side of the menu, which at the end of the evening resulted in number of take home containers. Our 4 choices were Basque Chicken, Fish, Lamb Shoulder, and Lamb Chops. Those came with Vegetable Soup, Salad, Beef Stew, Beans, French Fries, Bottle of Red Wine, Coffee, and Ice Cream. for the Table. These inclusive choices were priced just south of $40 and that's what the bill was at the end of the evening, as there were no extras needed. OK, the included wine was a little on the sweet side, but we didn't see the need to "upgrade" as we were too busy concentrating on the food. It was all good, especially the Soup and the French Fries. The only regret was not being here on the night they served Huckleberry Ice Cream, but our Vanilla or Pistachio Almond was good enough. JT Basque is family generation owned, and we certainly felt welcome and well taken care of. The rustic decor was also cool, as was the happy energy in the dining room. We promise to come back and not be strangers.

Why is this THE ONE when it comes to Basque dining? Well... It's steeped in history in a way you can feel from the moment you step onto the wooden sidewalk out front. You'll see it on the walls, hear it in the conversations, and taste it in the food. This is simply a special place. You'll feel truly at home, and that's because the same family has operated it for countless generations, passing down legendary hospitality like a family heirloom. From friendly greetings in the "lobby" to the homey vibes and warm servers, you'll love every moment. Doesn't hurt that the food is delicious and plentiful. Everything is made from scratch with a lot of love, and each dish is huge and hearty. Lamb chops and lamb shoulder steaks are always A+ but be sure to order the desired temp because they don't always ask. Steaks are solid too. Same tip as above. And for all three, don't forget to get them smothered in whole cloves of roasted garlic. Personally I usually can't say no to sweetbreads at a Basque spot, and that's the case here as well. They're served in a rich, garlicky and well seasoned gravy, studded with red and green peppers and whole cloves of garlic. It's the perfect dish to use up the extra bread because you won't want to leave a drop. Make sure you bring a couple bucks to leave up on the ceiling! The bartenders can show you how to make em stick. And of course, have a picon punch!

We knew it wasn't going to be crowded and the food will be fresh, but it was so much more than that. Overland is lucky to employ Tennessee, who might just be the best server in the Carson Valley. I grant you that we haven't been to every restaurant and we haven't had every server and so it could be hyperbole to try to tell you that he's the best, but we need to be sure to let you know that he is clearly in the top percentile of quality, local servers. Why you ask. He anticipated our every need, and so we always had water, always had coffee, and he cleared every single time he got near the table. His positive energy is infectious. Yes, I can hear you now, what about the food? My wife can, on occasion, high maintenance, and this was one of those mornings. She ordered the Eggs Benedict without the bottom bread plus one more whole extra Eggs Benedict, and Tennessee didn't flinch. I ordered the vegetarian omelette and I had side breakfast potatoes. All of it tasted great. I even tried the hollandaise sauce on my wife's eggs Benedict and it tasted fresh and tasty. So, I say give Tennessee a raise, and when you go to the Overland, hope that you get seated in his section because it will be an experience that you won't forget soon, and the food is very good. Somehow, this breakfast restaurant is flying under the radar on Saturdays and Sundays. They truly deserve to be packed as they have the formula for success, great service, good food, and a clean environment..

I checked this place out in the afternoon before deciding to go to dinner there. It looked pretty casual in the menu look like something everybody would enjoy. When we got there, we were greeted nicely and our server, JC, was very nice. All of the food was bountiful. We ordered the appetizer with three different items which was pretty good. It was onion rings, fried zucchini, and fried mozzarella sticks. The zucchini was a little undercooked. On to the main courses. It took longer than we would think and they brought it out in pieces. The two men got theirs first and my daughter and I got hers a few minutes later and Grandma was served last. Grandpa ordered a steak sandwich and he said it was good. My husband ordered a Philly cheese steak, which she said was decent. Grandma ordered fish and chips and she said it was so so. The french fries were thick steak type that were really good. A couple of us tried them. My daughter and I were excited when we saw the lobster tacos and we ordered them. The chips that came with them were salty beyond belief! We could not even eat them. When I told JC, she said there's nothing they could do about the chips and she offered to take the salad off the bill which I thought was nice. Both of my daughter and I could not eat the chips. The lobster tacos were not good. If the corn tortillas were warmed or cooked, it must've been very, very little. The lobster was chopped up in a wait and mixed with some kind of sauce that we can barely taste the lobster. We got two tacos and barely ate one. We took them home, but it didn't seem worth it to try to mend this. The best thing I can say is that the people they were very welcoming and pleasant. Also, JC gave my father-in-law a lemon bar for his birthday as we walked out. That was really sweet. Lastly, make sure you bring cash because you have to pay extra for using a card. We have to pay over $6 extra because we used a card. Am I understanding is that is happening a lot in restaurants. So, I don't think this is unusual.

We had a confirmed reservation for eight at 1:00 pm on a Friday following a wedding ceremony. What should have been a joyful post-wedding lunch became frustrating due to the general manager's attitude. Although the reservation was made, we were told they could not ensure the table that would comfortably fit eight adults -- several over 6 feet tall. We were also informed they would not guarantee any table even a few minutes early so we could place simple floral arrangement on it before bride arrived. Our party was fully prepared to order off the regular menu and pay whatever it took for what would likely have been a one-hour lunch. During the conversation, the manager repeatedly emphasized that they are "always busy," which felt dismissive rather than helpful. The overall tone came across as VERY condescending, especially given the occasion. For a restaurant known for hospitality, this was disappointing. The lunch was booked at another restaurant. Sadly, none of us will be back to The Pink House while the current manager is employed there.
