I'm not a local here, so reading others' reviews on how this place replaced a different shop was interesting. However, I feel like my experience was actually really great because I don't have that context or comparison in the back of my head. The menu is on the smaller side, but I think that just allows them to specialize in the items they do offer. I got a tuna sandwich, which I don't usually eat, but loved it here! The mayo was well spread throughout the tuna and again on the bread. It was hearty and filling, which is exactly what I was looking for. Friends got a turkey club, and they both said it blew them away. No one left any crumbs. The inside if the market was well-stocked with fun ingredients and items that make time pass quickly as you wait for your food. Water, hot sauces, and napkins are all ample and provided both inside and outside. Pricing is reasonable; coming from the Bay Area, you can end up paying way more for way less, but here, I felt like we paid the right amount for the right thing. Big downgrade from from the Country Store. Very limited menue selection. All the items we ordered were meh. Ate half the sandwich, didn't bother to take the rest home. The spicy nuts seemed like they came out of a bag. Everything that I tried to order the 'server' had to ask the kitchen if they actually had it. Don't bother. Its a shame that Genoa lost a gem. read more

Wonderful little market and cafe. Had a cup of clam chowder and the street corn salad. Salad was delicious and large. The clam chowder was the best I've ever had and I make great clam chowder myself! My friend had a bowl of the clam chowder and said it was one of the top three they'd had. Said it was a bit too thin but outstanding. It was a thin chowder but I wouldn't change a thing! We didn't have to wait long for our food and I thought their dinnerware was so cute and perfect for the ambiance of the whole place. Great place to wander through and get a soft serve ice cream with the kids. I'll be back soon for more clam chowder to go to take home. read more

The BLT is hands down my favorite. They do NOT skimp on the bacon, and it's always extra crispy, never soggy or fatty. The heirloom tomatoes seriously melt in your mouth, and the garlic mayo is such a good touch. I always get mine on sourdough, not toasted, because I love the soft bread with the crunch of the lettuce and bacon. If I am feeling fancy, I also add melted cheddar cheese. And the potato salad! They should honestly be world famous for it. The red potatoes are sliced thin and it makes a great side. They also carry my favorite Swedish gummies from BonBon. Wild Strawberry and Sour Blackberry are my favorites, so I usually leave with a bag (or two). The patio is one of my favorite parts, especially because it's one of the few sunny patios in Douglas County. My kids get the kids grilled cheese and actually eat it, which is always a win. Then we all get soft serve afterward. I'm a plain vanilla cone kind of girl, but my kids love the chocolate-vanilla swirl and ask for all the toppings. It's also a great place to bring the pup, sit outside on a sunny afternoon and enjoy the views of Genoa. If I'm there with my husband, we'll usually wander over to the Genoa Bar afterward. We checked out this place to try their sandwiches, and it was one of the best I've had in the area. They took a little bit to make our orders, but they were nice, and we didn't mind the wait. They were able to accommodate our request with our sandwiches. It was quiet inside with some groceries to check out. We took our sandwiches and decided to enjoy them at the Mormon Station. I was excited to try this new business that replaced the old Genoa Country Store. I read that they had a clam chowder that had bacon in it. I have a friend that was really excited to find bacon in clam chowder. Me, I was more interested in the beef chili and the sandwiches. We got there around lunch time and we were the only ones in the place. I ordered a cup of the beef chili ($6.00) and the Spicy Genoa sandwich ($14.00) served on a ciabatta roll. This one seemed like the most substantial sandwich stuffed with Genoa Salami, Soppressata, Ham, Roast Beef, Lettuce, Tomato, Red Onions, Peperoncini, Provolone, Calabrian Chili and Red Bell Pepper Mayo, and Italian Dressing, that's a lot in a sandwich! My friend got the bowl of clam chowder ($11.00). Our chowder and chili arrived first. I'll say that was some good chili, lots of meat and stuff. I thought it could have been a little thicker, but that's just me. When my Spicy Genoa sandwich arrived, that was something for sure! That sandwich was piled so high, I couldn't open my mouth wide enough to shove it all in. I did get a good big bite and then took another, the flavors melded so well together, this is a sandwich I would get again, just look at the pictures of this sandwich! Yeah, $14 is kinda high for just a sandwich, but this one is worth it! This is a pretty chill place to come, at least middle of the week, it might be busy on a sunny weekend, but they have lots of nice outdoor seating available. I get this place is new. Maybe opened a month ago? Vastly different than the last market, neither better or worse. They are different. The menu options are limited, but that's okay. Ordered a sandwich with side of potato salad. I thought the potato salad was bland. The sandwich was good. Not great. Certainly not having to wait a half hour to get good. I'm going to bet service will get better after working the kinks. Looking forward to trying again in a couple months. read more

We live in Reno and drove down here to try this spot and we were so impressed. Everything was 10/10. The chili was excellent, the potato salad was incredible (I'm picky about potato salad and this is some of the best I've ever had). We shared a pastrami sandwich and the spicy Genoa sandwich. Both were delicious and flawless. Prices were reasonable, Portion sizes were good and service was great. Outdoor seating was nice in the shade of the large elm trees. One of our best dining experiences in a while. And there's such cute stuff in the store! We'll definitely be back. read more

So excited to have a trendy but cozy addition to the Carson valley. The mid century modern feel to the market is a fun and fresh update, setting it vastly apart from its predecessor that occupied the space. Foothill market offers an approachable menu of soups and sandwiches as well as a few beers on tap and soft serve. So far, I've tried the muffuletta and the veggie sandwich, both were stellar. I've had the veggie sandwich twice and it was consistently delicious and well made. The offerings in the market are fun and fresh, and you'll definitely find unique gifts and treats to take home. I've been here twice so far. The first time was the Genoa Americana where they served hot dogs outside and soft serve ice cream at the window, even though the store wasn't officially open yet. Today was the second time for soft serve ice cream during their "soft opening". Both early experiences were excellent. The official Grand Opening is Sunday September 7, and I believe they will be ready! read more

The Foothill Market has been a long awaited addition to Genoa since the closure of the Genoa Country Store. On first impression, this market could be just what Genoa needed. They have fresh and local produce, a good selection of lunch sandwiches and a beer selection that is right up my alley. My brother and I were here for their Grand Opening and were very happy with the service. I would highly recommend the Turkey Sandwich with extra bacon! This store may be small, but still has great potential for our small community. With proper pantry selections and rural Nevada hospitality, I am looking forward to visiting for years to come. The trial by fire will be our Annual Candy Dance which will bring in 30,000+ people into this small town. Let's show them our support and see what the future has in store! read more

So excited we have Foothill Market! If you are looking for a solid sandwich spot, this is it. My favorite was the Tuna Salad sandwich and my husband loved the Turkey Club. The potato salad was perfectly seasoned and a nice side dish. Love that we can grab a couple of beers, and my kids can enjoy soft serve ice cream. We also picked up some pasta, a bottle of wine to go and some snacks to take home. I also can't leave a review without talking about the interior design of this market. It is so gorgeous and funky, and feels like it just belongs in Genoa. I could cozy up at the bar or enjoy the bright patio under the trees all day. Love Foothill! My experience today was totally enjoyable at the new Foothill Market in Genoa. Love all of the extensive work that has been done to improve the space from what it used to be. Was excited to find out that a new store (market) was going to replace the old one, and have been anticipating the opening for months. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed in several aspects. It was annoying that an older lady (worker) kept badgering us to go in and buy soft serve ice cream. We eventually went inside, and were shocked to see how unfinished and sparse it was. The small cup of soft serve ice cream (only two flavors) was too pricey at $6, but a non craft-beer on tap for $8 is simply ridiculous (served in a tiny pint sized cup that is hard to drink at first without spilling). The positive is that the two young women working the counter at the back were very friendly. read more
