Great breakfast and service at this Carson City location. Finally, a breakfast out that did not break the bank. One order of the Usual one order of bisquit and gravy a la carte, coffee, and ice tea all for under $20. A small wait on a Sunday morning. Super fast service after our order was placed. I'm pleasantly surprised!

The food was great. The service was outstanding. The front person greeted us. The place was bright but not too bright for breakfast hours. The food was awesome!! And it was only $20 for both me and my wife!! Keep up the great job!!

Service was quick and got seated at a booth. Food was delicious as usual. 3% discount for cash taken out at the register. Girl working at the register was new and had to be helped out by waitresses

The Usual with ROSTI

We were walking around S Lake Tahoe and saw Red Hut. I'd read that it was a local favorite, so I talked my brother into going there with me. It was a great place. After waiting 5 minutes for a seat, we were seated by the window at a tiny table. We both had the daily special, THE USUAL. It was two eggs, hash browns, and a biscuit/gravy for $9.99. I upgraded mine for $2 to their specialty, the ROSTI, which includes chopped sausage, green onions, cheddar, and sour cream on my crisp hash browns. Well worth it, as was the coffee. $13 and $15 each (+ tax/tip) for big breakfasts in Tahoe was a bargain. The Red Hut is decorated inside like a fishing/ski lodge version of Cracker Barrel in a more homey atmosphere. Very nice people and good quick service. Hard to complain. We'll be back next time we are in the area.

Yes I'm actually up at this hour but rarely. I'm shocked I have not found this cafe earlier, it's probably because I'm never up this early to eat. The staff is really on top of things here, I was greeted promptly and seated at my choice of the counter or a booth. I like counters if I can see the cooks at work and this was not the case so I chose a booth. The order was taken quickly since my choice was made up prior to entering. I ordered the chicken fried steak with eggs eyes looking up and they had hash browns with the order, yum. I gotta say they make a chicken fried steak worth coming for all the time. This was probably one of the best chicken fried steaks I have had in long time. This cafe has multiple locations owned probably by the same owner/s. They certainly know their stuff keeping this a simple but exceptionally good food cafe. The decorations are what you would expect from a old fashioned diner, very nice touch. I need to mention they also have the correct hot sauce for breakfast.

Down home breakfast! Truly enjoyed my avocado toast with diced fresh tomatoes and green onions and poached egg on the side, followed with a perfect cup of coffee!!

We always used to go to red hut when we lived in Tahoe but haven't been there for years. We decided to go to this one to get our Rosti fix and I think they are even better than Tahoe! We went around 1pm. The service was quick, the food was hot and delicious and the rosti was just as cheesy delicious as we remembered. We also got the cornbread waffle which was delicious but nothing like a waffle more like thin cornbread with honey and butter.

Where has this been all my life, and why is it tucked in a small food court in a bowling alley!? I…read moreordered the Wild West Tater and honestly was expecting a fairly satisfying, but ordinary, baked potato with toppings. What I received was an amazing blend of super tender pork in a slightly sweet but tangy BBQ sauce, mac n' cheese, and a perfectly cooked (not hard or dry), very generously sized potato (big enough for two). On a chilly day, when you're hungry, this absolutely fits the bill. Warming and savory, but well balanced, and not greasy. After some bowling or billiards? Perfect. I was thinking this was probably the best flavor, when I saw the rotating ad for....a spaghetti potato pie. Will have to come back and try other varieties. The cashier was very helpful and patient explaining the menu. Checked the website and looks like they update the menu with new options too. They say they're "dedicated to perfecting the art of the baked potato," and they're doing exactly that. Along with it, they're also serving up one of the best craft-style fountain sodas, Stubborn Soda. Don't hesitate to make a little detour (or order delivery) to try this place. TIP: Located inside the HomeGrown Bowl center: from the main entrance, head down the hall to the right past the arcade; also near a side entrance.

I can't believe I'm actually going to give this review a one star review…read more Great Basin Brewing has been a favorite of ours for well over a year almost 2 years now. It's been our go to place. Today being Father's Day, we were out and about in town and decided we would eat there. All the way there I kept bragging to my grandson how great this place is and it's our go to spot. yada yada yada. It wasn't very busy and we were seated very quickly. The service has always been pretty friendly. The service today was adequate and I'll get to that in a second. My grandson ordered the pork belly, Mac and cheese. I kept saying how that is a really good choice and he's really going to like it. My wife ordered the half rack ribs with fries and coleslaw. I had what I think is called the butchers platter with ribs, chicken wings, and pork belly. The food arrived and looked pretty darn good. But that's where it ends. My wife kept saying how salty the food was. And I got to thinking about that as I was eating my wings with the so-called Memphis dust flavoring on them. Those were equally salty so I thought wow OK maybe it's just our taste buds. Then I tried my ribs and they were also salty. I tried my wife's ribs just to see if they were that salty and come to find out they really were and dry. The fries that came with my wife's food tasted like they were old like they've been sitting out for a while. The coleslaw was also bland. After bragging about the pork belly and cheese, my grandson stated that it was pretty bland with very little flavor. So I tried it just to see what was going on and sure enough it was really lacking something what I don't know. I'm thinking garlic because it was pretty darn bland. I honestly hate to give a review like this because I really like this place as I said before it's been our go to spot. Now, as far as the service the server, she was very friendly, but that was pretty much it, after getting our food she didn't even check on us until it was about time for us to leave and she brought us our check. It's just kind of weird because there's a couple of servers here that are exceptional. So I don't know what's going on, but this was a very big letdown for a couple of regular customers. As usual, the place is clean and spacious with plenty of TVs to enjoy sports. In the end, the beverages were about the best part of the meal. It was Father's Day, so my beer was free so thank you for that maybe this was just a rough day. I don't know. I don't know if you have new cooks or what but this was pretty bad considering how much we like this place and how good it has always been.

However, service has been a challenge during each visit. On our most recent visit, it took about 20 minutes to be seated with a party of four, including a child, even though there appeared to be open tables. After sitting down, it took several minutes before we were greeted. Our server brought waters and later took drink orders, but there wasn't much communication about timing or whether they were short staffed. Once we placed our order, we waited close to an hour for our food. We completely understand that restaurants can get busy and staffing can be tight -- we just would have appreciated a quick update along the way. A little communication goes a long way and helps set expectations. When our food arrived, part of the order was incorrect (we had requested a salad and soup substitution but only received fries). The server corrected it, and the food itself was good. It did come out at different times, and we noticed another table seated after us received their food much sooner, which was a bit confusing. We truly want to support Roy's and hope this feedback is helpful. With stronger communication and smoother service flow, it could be a great experience.

We had 12 people with us (whole family in town), so we were excited to support a local place and bring them a big table of business. Unfortunately, multiple meals came out cold (5 in total), and we mentioned it immediately - calmly and respectfully - because we assumed they'd want the chance to fix it. Our waitress, Yemi, was honestly the best part of the lunch. She was attentive, kind, and genuinely apologetic. She handled everything with professionalism and grace. The manager (who may also be a cook) is what ruined it. He was angry, hostile, combative and argumentative right away - and what stood out most is he didn't even lead with solutions like re-cooking, replacing plates, or trying to make it right. No real apology for the food, and definitely no apology for the experience. It wasn't until AFTER we told him his attitude was awful and that he needs to leave us alone and let the waitress handle it (as he is making things worse) that he offered to either take the meals off the bill or remake them- and he didn't apologize at all, then with a massive chip on his shoulder he said again he didn't believe our food was cold. Some of us said take their food off the bill and some one of us had it remade. At the end as we were leaving, he actually doubled down on his awfulness and gave what felt like a sorry excuse for an apology. His version of "sorry" was basically: "I should have been nicer when telling you that you were wrong about the food being bad or cold." Then he said, "I'm sorry, I'm just really passionate about my food - especially when I'm told it was cold when I know it was hot."..... SERIOUSLY!? That's your apology for our experience and multiple people immediately telling you the food was cold, why would that many people lie.... Wow So... not an apology for our experience, not an apology for the cold food - more like "sorry you saw me get upset while I told you you were wrong." Food mistakes happen. How management handles them is what matters - and this was handled terribly. We won't be returning, and I'm sharing this so others know what to expect. Again, Yemi was great - she deserved way more support than she got.
