We were looking to try something new while in Carson City and decided to give Bank Saloon a go. We were thrilled to see their extensive cocktail menu, featuring some of the best classics out there (a rarity nowadays). We snagged some spots at the bar and enjoyed watching the bartenders mix up many styles of cocktails for the growing number of patrons who made their way into the saloon after work. The ambience is upscale and classic, with the walls filled with paintings by NV artists - beautiful! Love the Bank but just FYI, they no longer allow dogs inside which is a bummer. This was a go to spot for us to come with the dogs but we will have to find a new one. They do still allow dogs on the back patio. read more

Jim, Erin, Gayle, and I recently stopped in at the Bank Saloon for pre-dinner drinks before walking over the The Basil Thai restaurant a few blocks down the street. It was a Tuesday, which meant that it was "Puppy Hour". If we would have brought a dog, fido would have enjoyed a "Pup Tail" and a free bandana. On furry friend was decked out appropriately, and received a lot of love from our table. CONS 1. I was underwhelmed by the Mint Fizz Mocktail, which I found to be a little tart and thin on substance. I had thought that this was a non-alcohol take on a Ramos Gin Fizz, but not this time. +/- 2. The only food offered by the Bank Saloon was a prepackaged charcuterie plate that was just OK. Next time if allowed, we'll call Door Dash or bring in something ourselves. REGRETS 3. The Bank Saloon offers music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, either inside (Winter) or the very nice back patio (Summer). As we were here on a Tuesday, we'll do better on our timing next time. PROS 4. Comfortable and somewhat swanky ambience with a huge wall of liquor and generous drink selections. One drink was called the Downer, of which we swear that Debbie Downer was in the room! While Jim enjoyed his Alaska Amber, both Gayle and Erin were impressed by their French 75 and Huckleberry Martini respectively. Our service was very good. 5. The walls of the Bank Saloon feature the impressive McFadden Art Collection. A convenient QR code explained further. We did note that our collective family has more original paintings of Hans Meyer-Kassel than can be found here. But we didn't stop there as we thoroughly explored the gallery. read more

Reno Yelpers, you need to head to Carson more often. After attending the Taste of Downtown Carson City, the gang wanted to sit inside and enjoy a cocktail. The Bank as just a block south of the event space. This building has a great history and has been beautifully restored. It first opened in August of 1899 as Bank Saloon by owners Meyer & Sanger. In its time it has seen hold-ups by gunpoint, endured prohibition raids and a few name changes like Bank Resort, Hernando's Hideaway and Jack's Bar. In 2019 the vacant building was given new hope. Nevada Builders Alliance purchased the property intending to restore it back to its original glory. Man what a rebirth !! This elegant space has gorgeous black walnut woodwork and floors. A mix of high top and regular tables. Pieces of art from the McFadden collection dot the walls with scenes of the old west. It's a fantastic mix of history and modern. The cocktail menu is also a great mix of old school drinks and new twists. There were way too many to try on the first visit. So more trips will be needed. I also saw several local distilleries represented on the shelves. I appreciate that support. Besides the beautiful interior, there's a fantastic patio out back. Plenty of seating. If you're looking for a swanky cocktail bar, then you really need to hit up Bank Saloon. This place is pretty great, having done an amazing job refitting and redecorating the old bank building down here in Carson. It's got cool paintings, pleasant ambiance, and most importantly, an impressive drink selection. This is a full far, with beer and wine available, but the focus is where it should be, on the cocktails. The Bank Old Fashioned is quite nice, as is their take on a Picon Punch. The lovely Aviation is delightful, and is definitely a gin drinkers even people not too keen on gin would likely enjoy. But the Sazerac was outstanding, definitely my favorite of what I got to try. Prices for all the cocktails are basically in the $12-17-ish range, depending on what you get, so no too bad, all told. And the service here was great, very friendly and attentive, just getting a bit backed up during busy hours. As said above, the ambiance here is very nice. You can chill at a table, at the bar, or take advantage of their back patio and fire pit if the weather is nice. Parking is either in the small lot out back, or from the various street spaces in the surrounding neighborhoods. All in all, I was quite impressed when I swung by. Definitely a place I will want to return to when next I'm down in Carson, and hankering for a drink. Would definitely advice anyone hanging out in the area to stop in and give them a shot. read more

If you want an upscale cocktail experience in Carson City this is probably one of the very few choices. This is a beautifully renovated old bank building they also have a small outside sitting area but it really only has a view of the parking lot. Drink selection is excellent prices are fairly high for Carson City but not for craft cocktails in general. The main disappointment here is that they don't really have food service but you can get a snack box. read more

I had the peanut butter chocolate martini -- it was amazing and WAY better than my friend's chocolate martini. Our server was kind and helpful and so warm & welcoming. I have loved Jack's bar since I was little! I would drive up from LA with my parents and the minute we hit the comstock, I would revert back in time! We would pass the Ormsby House and hit the light at 5th street and I would smile with glee! As an adult I used to walk by the abandoned building and imagine the gunslingers tying up their horses and moseying in for a shot! Today! I got to sidle up to the bar myself! We were so anxious to visit this cool saloon in Carson City, It is really quite outstanding inside and also outside, they did a terrific job on the restoring the property' Our BIG problem is there menu, only drinks no food or munchies yet. But also NO PRICES on any item on the menu, like specialty cocktails, wine or beer. Also they had no draft beers, only can ones. The bartender did not seem to know the prices either. I did enjoy a FRENCH 75, at a cost of 12.50. And it was just OK. I don't know what this bar is doing not posting or listing prices, CC. NV. is a small town, not like New York or San Francisco. I'll keep this short and sweet. This bar is exceptional. Coming from Incline Village I'll be making this a regular pit stop, not only are the drinks incredible (granted I stuck to the huckleberry vodka drinks) the bartender, Mario, carries that place. One of the best bartending experiences I've had since moving to the tahoe area. And the bar itself is such a cool craft vibe. I had the huckleberry mule and the huckleberry corpse reviver. I came upon this business after or during a car show event and decided why not stop to get a nice cold beverage! The menu was nice with the cocktails on one side with wine and beers on the other. I attended a wonderful concert in the back patio last week. About 40 people there. Due to lack of service, around 20 had to get their own drinks. One cocktail server for forty people. It's the same problem since they opened. It's a fabulous facility, beautifully decorated, but extremely high prices (plus tax) and very slow service mean the Bank Saloon will never reach its potential. read more

Bank Saloon - Bee's Knees - Cocktail Bars Near Me - Carson City, Nevada

I went here yesterday, Monday, April 25, 2019 for the First Nail Ceremony. The Nevada Builders Alliance (NBA) bought this historic landmark building, opened first in 1899, and plans to turn it into a bar, with patio seating and a conference room for functions. For the event, they opened up all the boarded up windows and doors, as well as placed artist renditions of designs everywhere inside. Members of the public were allowed in the back part, with signs that stated "enter at your own risk". Apparently the front was too dangerous to walk through, and was roped off. The ceremony was held in the back, outside. The was a nail making souvenir station, where the worker could stamp the flat nail with whatever word you wanted. There was also the Frey Ranch Estate Distillery Spirit Tasting station. Since I don't drink, I had a shot of Sanpellegrino Cranberry and Orange. They also gave out wooden coins good for a free drink once the saloon opens, projected to be by Nevada Day, 2020, and definitely by the start of the new Nevada state legislative session in January 2021. They also had a raffle ticket station, where for $10 you could enter for a chance to win a genuine Battle Born fire hydrant, donated by American AVK. There were also free bottles of water by NBA at that station. There were people everywhere, including many dignitaries. There were also two news stations from Reno here [KOLO 8 News Now (ABC) and KRXI 11 Fox], as well as the local Nevada Appeal and Carson Now. For restrooms, the NBA used Quick Space out of Sparks. They brought in executive restrooms for this event, on a trailer, which had running water, sinks, and flushable toilets, unlike regular porta potties. I was very impressed by this. I am so excited for the new Bank Saloon to open. I may keep the wooden coin as a souvenir though, instead of cashing it in, unless they will have smoothies or milkshakes. read more

I went there with a friend after our Nebraska Alumni event came to an end. We showed up around 9pm and closed the place down. We enjoyed the live music outside and the fire pit kept us warm. I only went inside once to order drinks, and it looked very warm with a well stocked bar of spirits and brews. The owner was nice to let us finish our conversation and drinks before turning off the gas fire pit. Definitely will be coming back. read more

If you are looking for spot where the bartender(s) are rude, lacking any sort of friendly personality and clearly show they have ZERO enjoyment in their job, this is a good spot for you. Let's face it, the reason you enjoy a bar setting is its friendly atmosphere and welcoming feeling as you enter and take a seat. This bar is NOTHING close to that. The bartender here on this visit NEVER came close to saying "hi", "hello" or even, "Can I get you a cocktail?" Nope. Nor did her lips ever attempt anything close to a smile. She simply walked over to us at the bar straight faced and said, "What do you want." When an employee hates their job so much as to show it so clearly, they need to find other work!! (A 2nd bartender came in, also appearing with a disappointing frown. He walked around never acknowledging anyone, even keeping his mirrored sunglasses on, which clearly said, "don't even think of talking to me!"). The old fashioned drinks we had were good, I'll say that, but they are just as good right up the road at Cocino Lupo or down the road at The Nashville Social Club, and both of those places recognize you as you enter, pass a smile your way, and clearly show they like their work. Even on "bad days", the employees at those other places flash a smile, a simple nod of the head, etc. I don't expect loads of conversions in any establishment, but definitely an acknowledgment that I've come into "yours" to enjoy myself. Bank Saloon fails 100% at that. The employees on our visit made it clear we were putting them out, like "how dare you want me to get you a cocktail." Hell, that's all this place does. read more
