The peanut butter & jelly is absolutely delicious!!! Brilliant!!!

I just adore this place so much, that I ALMOST wanna keep it a secret! But, I figure other folks deserve a good time too. The name is what made me curious, just had to check it out & first thing I noticed was that it's got an awesome atmosphere. Its quaint without being cramped, has cool stuff on the walls without being a messy jumble. Just a really welcoming vibe to it right off the bat. Always super clean, even before the whole virus situation. The bartender, Jill, is so sweet! She's got an impressive memory & obviously loves what she does and cares about the customer. It's our favorite bar to bop on into when we get to go out for a break from the daily crud. I was surprised to finally find a place that sells my favorite beer, Ace pear, haven't seen it anywhere else since moving back home from Texas. I also recommend the peanut butter beer, my Husband loves it. The peanut butter & jelly she made me totally blew my mind! I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a clean, welcoming establishment that's not jam packed with obnoxious loud yelling drunks & druggies (I'm looking at you Whiskey Tavern *barf*) This place is the best!! Go check it out!!!

I know I should have written about this great little pub when I chanced upon it while they were first building it a few years ago, but quite frankly, after it opened I was hoping to keep its discovery to myself. When you visit, you will see why a body might want to keep this establishment to themselves. It's got a kind of magic about it. Something here makes you feel like you are one of just a lucky few that have stumbled through the door of boring reality and landed into a happy Secret Beer Garden of friendly bartenders/owners, great music, unusually artsy ambiance, and brilliant pints for a good price. You look around, amazed, and say nope, I'm not telling anyone about this - more beer for me. Off the beaten path a bit, this diminutive pub is a rare and happy find in a small casino city awash 24 hours a day with bland $1 PBR and Bud (barf) Not only does The Goat have a decidedly amazing selection of unique brew, it's apparent that the owners have lavished their little baby with much love, dedication and attention to detail. From the well-thought-out beer selection to the quirky local art for sale on the wall... from the amazingly hand-made bar (ask them about it sometime) to the hand painted bathroom ceilings, anyone can see this little surprise on the corner of the world's smallest, out-of-the-way strip of stores has been a labor of love. The owner's enthusiasm for and love of what they do is contagious; they unconsciously and effortlessly incite their customers fall in love with them, the pub and their beer choices. So I give up. This minuscule pub is such a huge powerhouse of good times, relaxation and excellent beer that it's just too mean of me to keep to myself any longer. *sigh* So go to The Feisty Goat some happy hour and ask Rob, Lucas or Heather what's on tap, or get yourself a delicious pint of something unusual from the bottle fridge. Not into brews? Then have them suggest a premium or unusual liquor of some kind (one night they had us try an Amarula Marula Fruit Cream Liqueur, made from berries that only grow on the plains of Africa, ohemgee, yum). Better yet, let them shake you up a martini (their Lemon Drop is quite seriously the best I've ever tasted). Then sit at that amazing bar, kick back and enjoy your drink and their excellent playlist, or play a quiet game of darts, or just snuggle with friends into a cozy, bedarkened nook for a nice natter without the incessant sound of slots. But whatever you do, don't mention to anyone that I told you about The Feisty Goat; I sorta kinda promised certain people I'd keep this great place our little secret. Ooops. Guess the Goat is out of the bag. o_O

    Love the goat art everywhere!

My friends and I are in town as a sort of reunion and the owners at the Feisty Goat were so friendly and welcoming. Full disclosure: when they chatted with us and found that we came from Idaho and California just to meet up with each other, they bought us a round of drinks. That was so lovely! From the outside, the bar looks a little lonely on a weeknight, tucked away in a quiet corner. To be honest, my friends and I hesitated for a moment before going in. But don't worry! The inside is comfortable and well-kept. It was a nice place to have drinks and relax. I appreciated the smoke-free policy and the fun art on the walls. I probably visit Carson City once every few months and I'll definitely be back. I'm happy to have found a cool local joint--maybe we'll even go back tonight!

Nice quiet bar. It's a bar bar. No loud bands. No loud jukeboxes. No kids in there listening to rap. It's just a really cool little bar.

Burger, pastrami sandwich, BLTA, fish & chips, and the brisket. The Tahoe IPA beer was great. Kids all ordered soft drinks, plenty of refills offered! We all enjoyed our meals, except brisket boy. He was expecting BBQ brisket, but the plate was more of a roast beef with gravy, mashed potatoes, and veggies. Fish & chips were pretty good, with 2 nice sized chunks of cod. The sandwiches were nice, burger solid! The fries were really good, seemed like fresh cut. When I looked at what others were enjoying, we observed that the wings look to stand out. Next time we'll explore wings & fries....and more beer! Service was attentive and the patio very pleasant!

We went to a casino and got larger portions, better service and the food was cooked perfectly in comparison to the farce you are trying to uphold. I would never do this but the fact you lied and said we had a manager come to our table but we denied it is incredibly wrong. And I hope you are exposed for what type of owner you are.

Today we got the following: Special - Pulled pork on a pretzel bun with fries. Two orders. Wow, it exceeded my expectations. Well, I honestly did not have high expectations. I can't believe I'm actually going to give this review a one star review…read more Great Basin Brewing has been a favorite of ours for well over a year almost 2 years now. It's been our go to place. Today being Father's Day, we were out and about in town and decided we would eat there. All the way there I kept bragging to my grandson how great this place is and it's our go to spot. yada yada yada. It wasn't very busy and we were seated very quickly. The service has always been pretty friendly. The service today was adequate and I'll get to that in a second. My grandson ordered the pork belly, Mac and cheese. I kept saying how that is a really good choice and he's really going to like it. My wife ordered the half rack ribs with fries and coleslaw. I had what I think is called the butchers platter with ribs, chicken wings, and pork belly. The food arrived and looked pretty darn good. But that's where it ends. My wife kept saying how salty the food was. And I got to thinking about that as I was eating my wings with the so-called Memphis dust flavoring on them. Those were equally salty so I thought wow OK maybe it's just our taste buds. Then I tried my ribs and they were also salty. I tried my wife's ribs just to see if they were that salty and come to find out they really were and dry. The fries that came with my wife's food tasted like they were old like they've been sitting out for a while. The coleslaw was also bland. After bragging about the pork belly and cheese, my grandson stated that it was pretty bland with very little flavor. So I tried it just to see what was going on and sure enough it was really lacking something what I don't know. I'm thinking garlic because it was pretty darn bland. I honestly hate to give a review like this because I really like this place as I said before it's been our go to spot. Now, as far as the service the server, she was very friendly, but that was pretty much it, after getting our food she didn't even check on us until it was about time for us to leave and she brought us our check. It's just kind of weird because there's a couple of servers here that are exceptional. So I don't know what's going on, but this was a very big letdown for a couple of regular customers. As usual, the place is clean and spacious with plenty of TVs to enjoy sports. In the end, the beverages were about the best part of the meal. It was Father's Day, so my beer was free so thank you for that maybe this was just a rough day. I don't know. I don't know if you have new cooks or what but this was pretty bad considering how much we like this place and how good it has always been.

We knew it wasn't going to be crowded and the food will be fresh, but it was so much more than that. Overland is lucky to employ Tennessee, who might just be the best server in the Carson Valley. I grant you that we haven't been to every restaurant and we haven't had every server and so it could be hyperbole to try to tell you that he's the best, but we need to be sure to let you know that he is clearly in the top percentile of quality, local servers. Why you ask. He anticipated our every need, and so we always had water, always had coffee, and he cleared every single time he got near the table. His positive energy is infectious. Yes, I can hear you now, what about the food? My wife can, on occasion, high maintenance, and this was one of those mornings. She ordered the Eggs Benedict without the bottom bread plus one more whole extra Eggs Benedict, and Tennessee didn't flinch. I ordered the vegetarian omelette and I had side breakfast potatoes. All of it tasted great. I even tried the hollandaise sauce on my wife's eggs Benedict and it tasted fresh and tasty. So, I say give Tennessee a raise, and when you go to the Overland, hope that you get seated in his section because it will be an experience that you won't forget soon, and the food is very good. Somehow, this breakfast restaurant is flying under the radar on Saturdays and Sundays. They truly deserve to be packed as they have the formula for success, great service, good food, and a clean environment..
