Cellar 8, is a charming Wine/Coffee Bar in the heart of Carson City.
Elizabeth S.

We love our occasional visits to Carson City and so glad we took the time to stop here. This place is charming and has a very relaxing vibe. We especially enjoyed sitting at the comfy chairs by the window. My husband loves wine, me not so much, so I was happy to learn that they serve coffee until 2:00 p.m. Also, for those that prefer something else, you'll be happy to know that other drinks are available, as well as Charcutterie Boards. The service was also great and the Woman that served us was both friendly and attentive. Looking forward to coming back the next time we are in Carson City!

Our party of 4 all enjoyed some wine and snacks. Three of us ordered flights and one of us ordered a glass of wine. The total bill before tip was about $95. For my flight, I asked the server to surprise me with three of her favorites. I had two reds and a white. They were all enjoyable. I think the best option for enjoying wine here is to buy a bottle and share with friends. The flights were fun to try new things, but not the best value. Overall, I enjoyed the vibe of Mayer and the well decorated space. The wine selection is also great for enjoying there or to-go. The small provisions area they have is also a nice touch. I will return!

Service was provided by Brian, one of the owners. Brian provided me professional and timely service. He knew his menu well and was confident in wine suggestions. Today I was in the mood for bubbles. Based on Brian's suggestion, for my 1st glass I had the Markus Huber Rose. It was a beautiful glass of sparkling wine. It was light, fresh, and delicate, with fruit and spice with hints of fresh cherries and berries, and a small taste of citrus. For my 2nd glass, I went a bit more traditional with the Faire La Féte Brut. This glass was very bright, crisp, and lively with notes of lemon and orange. I ended up having the cheese board (I ordered the cheese & charcuterie board but the cheese board came out) and it didn't disappoint. Each cheese was complex and special in their own way, yet the cheeses complemented each other. The cheeses paired beautifully with the Markus Huber Rose. The quince paste was amazing! One suggestion I would have would be to have board labels or a platter layout card for guests to reference to while they are grazing. Overall, this was a wonderful experience with delicious cheeses and beautiful wines in a relaxing environment. I definitely will be returning for another visit soon.

A coffee shop serving wine? The impulse to dismiss this…read moreplace as a snack bar for between video poker bouts is a mistake: Alatte is seriously great food at a reasonable price. The cashier literally said "The coffee keeps you going until it's time for wine" On our 2nd visit to Carson City, we stopped at Alatte's for a breakfast burrito with sausage, coffee and juice. Followed by a tremendous caramel latte and a shot. Gambled for a couple hours and came back for an iced Chai coupled with a fresh baked cinnamon roll. Yum! After gambling a couple more hours, back to Alatte for a community lunch of Hawaiian pizza, deli sandwiches, a jalapeño stuffed pretzel and a chicken Caesar on a spinach shell. All top rate. Tasted perfect! Walked the wonderful town of Carson City and returned for dinner. I had the best turkey sandwich in years. A gripping southwest turkey sandwich with bacon and cheddar. I chose a rich, snappy Cabernet (that I wish I would have grabbed the name of). I had one of the most enjoyable dinners accompanied by a wonderful guitarist, ever. I literally had 3 meals and a snack at Alatte's and thoroughly loved it all. The waitstaff said they had never seen this done before. Ha!

We signed up for the club card & got free coffee. I noticed the person in front of us - a paying customer, waited for 5 minutes for someone to take their order. There was only two women at the counter, both engaged in conversation w/their regular customers before attempting or acknowledging their customers waiting in line. Like I said, it was Christmas Day, not a good feeling to be working that day, but customers (whether they get free coffee for the rewards sign up or not) shouldn't be put thru terrible service. Matter of fact at the other casinos, the employees whether front desk, cashiers, cocktail waitresses or restaurant were friendly & making the best of it, since we all know in these times, it just plain sucks not having a job. But maybe the service is just better on regular days.

We found this spot that secluded, that has great view of Reno mountains. We greeted by Andrè maybe I shall say a wine expert. He has this relaxing dark voice that you just want to listen to his wine explanation. We both got a tasting meny wine: My friend got a usual suspects and mine is Whites around the world for $30 each. It consists for wines that they all picked. I dont have much knowledge about wines, but mine exceeded my expectation and they a beautiful curated. André explained each one and where it came from. It was also labeled which is also really nice just in case you forget about it. It was a hot that day, we decided to inside with their aircondition blasting us. Everyone seems to love the outdoor seating, it was packed. which is really nice. The place is cleaning, inviting and smells good too. The restroom is well maintained. For our food, unfortunately that they are out of proscuitto. We ordered a caprese burrata, sausage crostini and a side of nuts. The nuts was flavored it has sweet and spicy herb taste. The food compliments the wine! A good pair for the wines we had. Andrè checked on us, my friend did really liked the Rosé they offered to us. He gave us a sample of recommended on his list. It was perfect! Overall, my friend and I had a great. We enjoyed the wine, food and good conversation. If you are looking for a girls day out, date night or bringing a family member from out of state this is a great to catch up conversations and laughters.

Needless to say, they have room for special events and private parties. So if you are looking for a venue keep them in mind. The Prime Rib was outstanding. Indeed, it was the best Prime Rib I have had in a very long time. Our waiter and the Maitre de were outstanding. They made us all feel so welcome and almost like we were family. We all are still raving about the Prime Rib. There is something so wonderful about a place treating you like family. The human connection is something we all want. It is so awesome to feel appreciated and connected to our world and others. The staff here were outstanding. Everyone commented on the service we received. The appetizers and salads were tasty. The family members who had the salmon said it was excellent. Everyone was pleased with their meal. Portions are generous. All of us remarked on how good the food was. Not to mention, the price was right. The ambiance might be a little lacking. There are no tablecloths. However, keep in mind that tablecloths come with a cost of their own. They need to be laundered and then some need to be replaced. So there would be an added cost. So the question is would you prefer a little more ambiance or a cheaper price for an excellent meal? However, if you are looking for excellent service with delicious food at a reasonable price then this is the place for you. Not to mention, that the drive to Carson is beautiful. Plus there are plenty of things to do in Carson to enjoy. Perhaps it is time to beckon back to a slower pace of life. Take a nostalgic trip to Carson to see the Capitol all decorated for Christmas. Stop in at the Nugget and enjoy a dinner at the steakhouse. I wish I could remember the name of the Maitre de and Waiter I hope that management sees this review and gives the KUDOS and a big SHOUTOUT for delivering such great service. We were told that the chef was on vacation. Should have just left then. Then after being seated and given menus, they came and took them back and gave us this paper revised menu since the head chef was out. Our actual waitress was Chelsea and she was fantastic. If not for her, I would give 0 stars if possible. The restaurant itself we really did not get to see much as we were tucked away in the 1st dining area by the entrance. No worries. It was nice and quaint inside and that's about where it stopped!! I asked about bread, and a different lady brought us 2 rolls that were barely room temp. Basically went from bag to bowl. We ordered our prime rib medium. As anything over that gets tough. We also ordered it with broccoli and when it arrived it had inedible asparagus. I mean they were so fibrous we could barely cut through them. Chelsea apologized and brough us out some broccoli on the side, and just like the rolls, it was barely room temp. Not her fault by no means. Now onto the very overly cooked prime rib. There was 0 pink in it. It was well done and very tough. It was also barely 1/4 inch thick. I mean the thinnest prime rib I have ever seen for supposedly being a 9oz. I have had 8oz at other restaurants twice the size of what we were served.. I managed to cut a couple pieces for my husband to eat. I dd not eat any of it. Basically we sent the majority of it back when we left. The only plus thing about this visit was the mashed potatoes and gravy. Still luke warm at best. I ate about 3 bites of food and was done with it. It was the worst prime rib I have ever seen/tasted in my life. Now Chelsea went and got our receipt for us, which of course was no charge, but if it was, I would have never paid 22.99 for what we received. It was that bad. Chelsea apologized several times and like we told her, you do not control what comes out on these plates. So yes she did get a nice cash tip for being such a sweet waitress and trying to do what she could. As far as the restaurant, we will not be going back for anything there. It is also only open Friday and Saturday from 4-close. I came home and made a sandwich for my now late dinner!

The owner's personal, private message response to this constructive feedback was completely out of touch, defensive, and hostile. Instead of taking any accountability for the experience, the owner chose to personally attack me. He told me the entire situation was my fault, claiming I should have asked for more cheese when I paid $64 for two boards that were already inadequate. He aggressively stated that I 'lacked courage' for using an online review system and that 'What you did is useless!' The owner then concluded by telling me that 'it is best for you to never come back!' When you leave honest feedback, this management will insult you and ban you. This level of unprofessionalism warrants a 1-star rating. I have uploaded screenshots of the owner's full conversation to this review so future customers can see exactly how management treats people who dare to criticize them.
