Recent stop at Odeon Saloon in Dayton. Very historical building, great time. Tried a couple of the signature cocktails and Cornish Pasties, made in-house, to the strict guidelines of the Cornish Pasties Society's recipe. "Miners would've carried these in a lunch pail (wrapped in a dishtowel!)" Mark Twain was a patron of the Odeon and Marilyn Monroe and Cary Grant filmed The Misfits there. Overall very cool experience.

The drive to Dayton wasn't so bad lots of History.Dayton used to be called Chinatown which I did not know We checked in and went into Odeon saloon, the bar was original. I loved that. The fact that real famous people sat down at that bar and drink was so cool to know so much history behind that bar very interesting I loved it I also loved the food they served Cornish pasty and your choice of drinks. El Sativo margarita, Odeon old Fashion or the famous pecan punch we walked over to Js' Bistro and they were serving quite a little feast we had shrimp and some yummy pizza bites some breaded meatballs as well everything was delicious we had a refreshing drink. We walked back over to Odeon's and went upstairs to watch Marilyn Monroe on stage what a fun time that was Then we went to the museum down the street so packed with history definitely want to take the kids on a train ride I could have spent hours in there all in all we had a great time this is something great for the family so if you're ever in Dayton please stop in we had a blast thank you Michael T

Waitress at Jay's her name is Tia they had lots of good snacks oh yeah I saw it damn it Jay's bistro

Another successful event at the odeon saloon so much history for Nevada unbelievable. We had margaritas and pecan punches very nice strong I it was very busy but the owners were so sweet and nice very patient and considerate to the customers Cornish pasties were delicious and the sauce kicked it up five notches. There is a great show with an impersonator of Marilyn Monroe she was absolutely fantasticl everybody was laughing so hard that she picked this guy and took him up on stage and had fun with him we went to the museum and learned about there's so much history in this little town we totally enjoyed every bit of it so if you just want to take a drive out to Dayton and get some history on Nevada this is a place to go another successful event

The Picons were delicious and the bartender was the best! We will be back soon.

Really tasty Cornish Pasties, even on a bloody Mary. Great drinks, pool, historic back bar. Great service in a fun place.

When did I get so many friends, lol. JK. Anyway, I wanted to show them a different area and atmosphere than Reno. We walked around town, visited Fourth Ward School Museum and ended our day here. This was the most happening place in town with a live band, people dressed up in Western gear, etc. Good local beer and free popcorn to make us drink more beer, lol. Ambiance - Decent size location, but it was crazy busy when we got here. First, we sat at the bar, then when a table became available, our guests wanted to move. Sat in the very back center which was perfect for me. Service - 5 stars, both the bartender and waitresses were friendly and welcoming. But the band was a hit!!! Not only were they good, but the lead singer was giving line dance lessons, lol. But they were welcoming. FROM the stage, they were able to ask if we had any requests. Thanked us again from the stage as we left, etc. The band was 6 stars! I'm pretty sure they thought we were NOT locals, lol. Price - $26 + generous tip. Tourist prices, but our guest is worth it! Generous tip to the band. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success.

The 1st course was a choice of the foie gras (good but had an inordinate amount of fig jam on top) or escargot (very good). The second course was French onion soup or Niçoise salad. Both were very good. The third course was a choice of poached sole with hollandaise (the hollandaise was extremely spicy and way over powered the delicate sole. The sole was cooked until it was mushy) or roasted chicken in brown sauce (some were very good and others were dry and overcooked). The fourth course was roasted marrow bones with golden raisins and brie with lingonberry. Good but very rich. The fifth course was beef bourguinon that was excellent. For dessert we had crepe Suzette's that were okay but very sweet and paired with an extremely sweet ice wine. Too much sweet on sweet. Some hot bread and butter, others didn't. Same with water, some glasses were empty and never filled. Overall it was way too much food for me. It said $150 all inclusive so we assumed that meant tax and tip was included. We were wrong. When we got the bill they added tax and 20% gratuity. Then on top of that they charged 3% for paying with a credit card. It ended up being a $400 dinner. That was more than we anticipated in Virginia City. Additionally, apparently they ran out of one of the wines and some people were offered a different one and then got charged $20/glass for it. All in all, it was fun (more because of the company than the experience), the food was mostly good and the atmosphere was nice and service was okay. I felt bad for other couples trying to have a romantic NYE dinner and having to sit next to a group of 20. We'll choose a different location next year.

In the last year the took over the space next door to the south. This space has a small kitchen for snacks and some gaming machines, making the original area less crowded. The old school bar and decor is a step back to days when miners would come in for a whiskey after hours of searching for silver. On non event days it's nice to enjoy the great staff. During events the Twain can be quite popular and busy.

Its a big event so we understood that a server couldnt seat us or take our order at the table. My other half and daughter had a seat in the room beside the balcony and I went to the bar to order. They bartender wasnt busy with customers but was talking with another staff member. I sat at the bar for 10 min when another customer walked up. I thought it was strange how he was helped immediately. I sat there for another minute confused. Then I decided it would be better not to use my money at this establishment. I want to mention that one of the staff members that was wiping tables and setting out condiments was very nice but at the bar for some reason I was invisible. Side note: I was reluctant to visit Virginia city because of recent events that happened there to another person of my skin tone. I try to give places a benefit of a doubt and not judge a whole place from one incident. I can say not feeling welcome does contribute to my concern as a mother and a person of color. I want to caution others to make your own judgements but please stay safe. If you dont feel welcome please do not cause a scene the best you can do is not use your money at places like this one and write a review. Eventually people will see the truth and hopefully the establishment and associates will reevaluate how they choose to do business. Just my suggestion. Take care and stay safe

The bartender was a very nice guy that was doing a great job keeping up with everyone despite being the only one behind the bar that night. We made sure to tip him well. He was slinging fresh cocktails, fresh draft pours, and some ready to drink cocktails. A couple of us put our names and song choices in for karaoke, the DJ had pretty much everything available to him. The songs ranged from classic rock, classic country, modern rock, modern country, 80's chart toppers, and some obscure songs that a number of locals got pumped up to hear! I got up to belt out my raspy rendition of The Promise, it was fun to get to 'perform' in front of a crowd again. A couple others in my group sang their hearts out as well. We will be back soon!

Or this place is confused and clearly didn't pay attention in 'how to have a fun bowling alley class'. The issues, one the shoes were very worn( not to big of a deal) The toilet smelled tremendously bad. The toilet smelled like fresh baby kaka sprinkled with baby powder. Barf. The balls are a mess, they are not organized at all and you can't even see the weight on 80 percent of them. I think cause most people here have their own ball. For novice folks like me it took a really long time to find a ball to use. The lanes were nice however they have a sensor that gives you a foul. There is no way to turn this off and the floors are slippery. It's super annoying. It makes your fun no big deal time into a RULES time. It's not a big deal if you play all the time I suppose but if you're just trying to have a good time it's obnoxious. Why?? Because they take away your points!! Going over the line equals no points.Boo. The bar menu is non existent and we left early. Don't usually rate bowling alleys however I'm used to cool ones or something- this one isn't cool. It's for serious bowlers I think. Oh one more thing the paper towel is set to come out at the least level meaning you get two inches to dry your hands. So basically you need to give the dispenser a hand job to get a decent amount of paper, just sayin.
