Hello, Dislike te fact I have to write a negative review about this place. I've been coming to this place for over 6 yrs! Sure it's not like back home (Hollywood C.A) but it's/was a cute little spot. I've always respected/respect the law, rules etc. This place is owned by police which I love. Yet last nights experience was terrible. They were shutting down the place and told all of us to leave. Been there done that. Just the way they said it and did it was so rude! There's this short brown skin bouncer that just thinks his crap don't stink that was just nasty. The owner finally came out and also was a rude individual. Once again I'm a well known person in Carson, they need to have a better way to ask people and remind them that that they are about to shut down for the night. Also, when I left, near the side of the building a young lady coming out of that place, fell due to the icy sidewalk next to this establishment were many hang out to smoke and hang. She was hurting and might of broken her ankle. This establishment should provide salt or warning signs and or both!. They know people hang out there a lot! Im not one to spend my energy on these things but I do voice when it is an unfair situation. Again I was not showing any signs of aggression yet this place treats people as though they have done something wrong. I've seen it in the past with others. Now I was one of those people that was mistreated. Terrible customer service! This establishment needs to learn how to communicate and ask customers to exit when the night is over in a polite and civilized manner. read more

Very nice selection of cigars, in humidor & staff were great! I would highly recommend this place!

The front and back doors were open and a breeze kept the air ok and the cigar smoke was concentrated at the bar. The bar hosted a sip and shop with local vendors in the bar and also the back patio. They had a couple of drinks specials. I chose a Red, white and Berry lemonade which turned out to be a red, white and berry lemonade flavored vodka and a mixer from the fountain garnished with a lemon wedge,a strawberry slice and a blueberry @$5. There is an overstuffed furniture seating section, or assorted tables and the bar. I was curious about the electronic dart board game but it wasn"t turned on at that time. read more

Ordered a tequila sunrise, there orange juice tastes horrible. 14$ for a drink and I only got one sip and left it on the bar. I was upset because I even tipped the bartender 5$... and the vibes are lame. Never again! read more

Just a bar that happens to have cigars and allows smoking them there. I would classify this as a local watering hole. Regulars and staff were friendly but not a place for a true cigar smoker. Just has more of a Bar feel. But everything else was ok and no real complaints. read more

Where do I start? After reading the reviews, I feel this establishment is cringe-worthy. The building is old, classless, tasteless and riddled with BUGS! The owners don't care to keep up on it because the place will still rake in money, with overpriced drinks and occasional admission fees, even when it's crawling with roaches. The roaches and spiders aren't the only annoying pests. There are police officers stopping in nightly. It is rumored, in the town, that the sheriff's office owns the bar; allowing the establishment to do what it pleases, with funds, liquor, and other regulations/expectations. I have not had a single visit to this place without seeing uniformed officers, very casually stroll through. When they can't find a patron to harass and arrest (they usually do), they will leave a few off-duty buddies, or the occasional rat behind, to "keep order" or to "keep an eye on THAT guy/gal". The boys in blue also hang out and guzzle up free booze, or are at the very least, given the cheapest price. I grew up in Carson City, and I remember being in highschool still when certain friends were hitting up the Cigar Bar. A few (a lot) of underage people LOVE Jimmy G's because they can simply, get in and stay in. I myself, don't drink, don't enjoy karaoke, and dislike everything about cigars, I have, admittingly, gone to Jimmy G's Cigar Bar as a designated driver or, because I was very confused. At the time of my 4 separate visits, I was a very short, and generally tiny, 21-year-old girl, barely allowed in. I, still (at 25) get ID'd as soon as I walk through the door to 99/100 bars and casinos. NOT AT THE G SPOT! Jimmy G's simply doesn't have the time to ID ANYONE! Why? THEIR FRIENDS ARE HERE, and THEYRE DRUNK, duh! And if all of that wasn't bad enough, the place SMELLS old, moldy, and well, like cigar smoke. Cigar smoke is nastier than other smokes, it is thick, lingering, and almost leaves the smoker and those around them feeling musty and as if they just walked out of a Las Vegas casino in the 80s. However, this dive does not even maintain any cool, nostalgic vibes. It is just dirty, smelly and, sweaty. The service for boring, once in a blue moon visitors, is terrible as it gets. if you're not a boy in blue, a regular, or the one person on shifts bestie, I promise, it'll be easier and quicker to begin brewing your own beer than try getting the attention of the single Jimmy G's employee on shift. If you are oh so lucky to get a drink, you don't get any change or your card back. They actually, really, ARE going to tip themselves, thank you. This means, "don't ask for round two". I can't even call them bartenders because the drinks are so terrible and customer service is non-existent. But, if you enjoy having stiff, tasteless ethyl, occasionally isopropyl, alcohol on top of with watered-down Bacardi, and of course the topper of, very flat, RC Cola; well pal, boy do I have some good news! THIS is the place for you. The drinks are bad, the crowd is almost worst. I'd rather drink a $1 room temperature Pabst than sit and try to talk with Judgmental Jerry. Don't think too much of the reviews - people like getting free stuff. 5 stars? 5 FREE DRINKS! DJ, what DJ? That's just your obnoxious 15-year-old nephew who is physically incapable of finishing an entire song, or even wait for the best part! He will do anything he possibly can to piss you off. Don't tip him. And last, but definitely not least; is their attitude towards LGBTQ+ patrons - even passer bys and onlookers. I brought a cousin to Carson City to sightsee, we visited a couple of places I knew were actually worth seeing. Being from Washington state and having traveled to multiple beautiful, obscure, and exciting foreign countries, I knew my cousin would not enjoy the closed minded simpletons of Carson City, nor fit in at any establishment. She and her girlfriend were gawked at while they walked past (how dare they hold hands!) They later mentioned to me how they felt intimidated by the onlooking patrons and that they would not go into a place like "THAT", that made them feel unwelcome. 1) My cousin(s) didn't want to cause any problems that could result in violence or even death, (isn't that how love is supposed to feel... like your going to get shot for having it?) 2) If the patrons have the audacity to be so loud about their feelings towards the LGBTQ+ community, they will have the same aggressiveness when whoever is INSIDE and trying to enjoy their time. 3) They wouldn't enjoy their time because they understood how unwelcome they are. These qualities are very inviting and comforting; I know, hard to resist. However, trying to party? Go to a bar in Reno, or have a house party. Want a stiff cold one? Hit Shoe Tree, or a casino (the drinks are free). Worried about a drive to Reno? Are you not worried driving to Jimmy G's? read more

My husband and I have been here a few times before on a weekday and the mood is mellow and nice to sit back and relax and enjoy a few drinks. Saturdays they have a live DJ and the crowd is a little more upbeat. The Drinks arent bad priced and are mixed well. I prefer the Malibu and Pineapple. The bar staff was very friendly and consistent on making sure we always had a drink. They have a firepit outside for those who need a break and want to still keep warm. He is short with curly hair, came in not on the clock, kept going behind the bar then hated the country music so started playing his music over customers. This is a very nice cigar bar right down Main Street from the Carson Nugget Casino. It has a large lounge area for smoking and drinking, with a good selection of alcohol and a few choices of cigars. Although the selection of cigars is good and offers a variety of choices, there are some notable brands that you will not find here. I came in midday during the week and it was very quiet, but I understand it heats up a bit on the weekends and evenings. Nevertheless, it felt warm and welcoming if a bit empty in the large empty lounge chairs and couches. I always love to find a nice cigar lounge and this certainly looks to fill the bill. read more

Live this bar. I have never felt safer because of all of their cameras. The bartenders all get along and make sure you have a good time. They have amazing g shots and espresso martinis. Much better than all the other bars in town. Great coffee in their drinks never bitter. read more

My First Time and Last Time Came in on a Monday night around 9p. Atmosphere The temperature inside the bar was cold. Outside the weather must have been in the 50's but Jimmy G's was colder than the outside! They had all the ceiling fans on full blast creating a frigid environment. The music was too loud as well. They were bumping it like it was Friday night at the club. Service Weak! Received a less than enthusiastic greeting from the female bartender. She made no effort to explain the beers on draft or talk about their cigar selection. Looking at the bar it was unkept. Tips lying around the bar from previous patrons and used drink glasses still sitting from where they were last consumed. Product and Price The beer was cold and served in a plain pint glass. I ordered a Deschutes draft beer for $5.50. Overall very unimpressed. Didn't really understand how this place calls itself a cigar bar. Best part of the whole experience was leaving. read more

On a Monday night, this is the kind of place I thought I could get a quick beer expecting some low-level music, quick and friendly service, and a warm atmosphere when entering in from the cold. It was the exact opposite. Music was blaring at maximum level as if it was a packed Friday night. The bartender was no where in sight, and as it turns out she was hanging out with afew of the patrons at the bar. After a minute or so she takes my order and there's a man who comes in and begins to talk to her. Obviously someone close to her. She gives me my drink and takes my debit card to run it. This took her about 4 minutes to do while I was standing at the bar less than 4 feet away from her, she proceeded to talk to this guy who was ranting and raving about something that she felt was important enough to put serving a customer on hold. It was bullshit. Just run my card and let me be on my way! Then go talk to your baby daddy. So after I finally got my card back, I took my drink and had a seat. After a minute or two I noticed it was pretty chilly inside. Upon further observation I noticed that all of the overhead fans in the building were on and sending this cold air in my direction, all the while it's 50 degrees outside and there's barely anyone in the place. It was so cold my beer was holding its original temperature. I finished my beer and then left. Noticing the bar tender had returned to drink with the customers. Fuck Jimmy G's on a Monday. read more

I'm only reviewing Jimmy G's as a place to show art rather then a bar, as I don't drink and was only there during Carson City's Downtown Art Project/Wine Walk. Showed three oil paintings in Jimmy G's July show. Great experience. From the outset and thoughout, Roska Entertainment were super-professional, nice, and easy to deal with. I showed up in the morning to drop off my work and they were just setting up, but friendly and recognized me when I walked in which was a fun surprise as I'd never been to Carson before. Free two hour parking nearby. I signed their easy to understand waiver and was back on the road to Reno. What a gorgeous drive! Snow-capped mountains and pines. I was expecting the drive to be hell and it was actually great. When I came back to Jimmy G's at at the tail end of the Wine Walk I got a chance to see what they'd done with he place and wow! The art show had nice typed labels, they got all my info correct, and I saw a lot of other art there I really liked. I sat on a comfy couch and fiddled with my phone until it was time to pick up my art and claudestinely observed the bar in late afternoon. Very chill. A nice dude with a beard came by and gave me some cool buttons. Not too many people there which I liked, pizza in the back and a very chill daytime vibe. read more

Went here this evening for a few drinks with friends. Really nice place with a fun atmosphere, comfy seats, and great service. Place has a really nice beer selection and what looks to be a good cigar selection--I didn't partake as I generally don't smoke, but a friend did. If smoke bothers you a lot you won't like this place, but its a CIGAR BAR, so I don't see how you can take points off for that. For my money its a nice place and a rare upscale edition to an otherwise bleak Carson City scene, and its definitely worth checking out. read more

I went into Jimmy G's Cigar Bar tonight and was happy for the karaoke that was performed by all the customers and the amazing DJ Rob, but I also received some of the BEST service I have EVER received by many bars from the bartenders Brighton and Jessica (huge shout out to you girls for busting your a$$es). Both of these ladies show true care and love for ALL of your customers, they are BOTH genuine and they make you feel like part of their personal families. For anyone looking for GREAT service and a fun time I highly recommend going to Jimmy G's on a Thursday night. read more

This is the Carson City Sheriff's bar, they're above the City, County, State and Federal laws. They make up beer and cocktail prices as they want, meaning if you're not a crooked CC Sheriff or one of their friends they will over charge you. What a crappy place to have a beverage, I was over charged at happy hour for the last time earlier this week. They have the worst bartender's and staff, just don't go to this place! I nearly forgot that I had a Yelp account, which probably would have been very good for Jimmy G's. I've been coming here since January regularly. My friend Cadi started going there for Thursday night karaoke because she works on the nights the rest of us go to Tommy's. I was and am flexible and I love me some Cadi so I started going. Let me just say this. I'm going to get all the bad stuff out of the way before I get on to the good. There IS good. I'm very short. The tables are too high at the G spot. If someone bumps into my chair, I fall off. The floors are VERY slippery, which results in a twisted ankle and a fallen me. Likewise, they do have couches, but they are not anchored and the floor is just too slippery. The leather furniture slips across the floor if you even sneeze. At the beginning of May I went one day for Thursday night karaoke, I LOVE Rob, and sat by myself at a table against the window waiting for Cadi and some of the others. I suddenly felt several sharp pains all over my body. I was wearing a shirt that had some itchy ruffles, so I shrugged it off. My friend Frank came in a few minutes later and I soon forgot about everything. For about three minutes. My throat swelled suddenly and I could not breathe. I was having an acute allergic reaction to over a dozen spider bites. Frank drove me home in my car and walked back to get his car. The next afternoon, I went to go tell Jimmy G's about their problem with spiders and they told me that I must have brought them in with me, that I should take a shower more often. Okay, so whatever. On to the good. Karaoke in the summer is outside in the courtyard. It minimizes the stinky cigar and cigarette smells. Okay, it's still there, I said minimizes. I love it outside. I'm a belter when I get going, and Rob just turns down the microphone and lets me chanteuse it up when I feel the need. I really do love this place. The atmosphere is kinda yuppie, but on karaoke nights it's just people everywhere. Easy Access is HILARIOUS, although... Don't take them too seriously. But why would you take karaoke seriously at all? The people bring a laid back atmosphere that I really like... on Thursday nights with Rob. read more

If i could give it negative stars i would. Horrible service if you can manage to get a drink. We have walked out several times due to making eye contact with the bartenders and have them never wait on us. I dont mind waiting for service especially if they are busy but when you never get served it sucks. Especially when people who walk in after you get served first, that is bad. There are times when you just need a drink at a place that doesn't care what you do from 9-5, and cares only about making sure you have a great time: Jimmy G's is that place! Jessica is not only personable but a beautiful person inside and out. She gets to know your order and always offers it to you without delay. Jesica always inquired about your day but never permits you to dwell on the negative but forces you to see the positive. There's a new addition to the team, Brighton, she's awesome and has a smile that makes the dimly lite bar light up. The two together are a dynamic duo that I hope to see in the future! read more

Went here for fun with friends who were throwing an EXTREMELY LARGE PARTY. This place was standing room only but the staff still managed to serve with smiles, clean up messes and get rid of messy people. We so wanted to like this bar... We went in to get a cigar to celebrate a big win in the MLB. We got two dirtie wookie drafts,, which were delicious and we selected a beautiful Java cigar for later... The bartender was less than interested,, no small talk to us at all. Seemed to cater to some younger people who were drunken, loud and obnoxious. We drank our Wookies, which I have to assume were $6 each because our cigar was $15 and our bill was almost $30.... Not a place where we felt comfortable, welcomed and we will not be back... That's a shame,, the cigar we got was really nice and we love dark beers in Autumn...Also, F.Y.I. we tip usually 50%, because we own restaurants,,, and can excuse if some one is busy and in the weeds,, but a bartender is the front of the house P.R. person...and the place was mostly empty... so NO excuse in our book... And seeing how we tip our favorite bartenders at Christmas time pretty heavily,,, he missed out on so many levels.... read more

Went in to purchase some cigars nd found them over priced as well as the Coctails. The bartender was lame. The atmosphere was ok but the patrons in there were staring at people as they entered. I later found out they were PD an so was the Owner so I found a different place to drink. read more
