The Corner Bar is exactly what it needs to be. When you lived in the Carson Valley for a number of years you'll walk in and you'll know somebody. This is not the place to attempt to be anonymous. Tonight our bartender was friendly and made good cocktails. I had the Minden Mill bourbon, old-fashioned, and my wife had a well gin and tonic. The memorabilia in the space let you know they are definitely from Northern Nevada definitely Giants fans. The A's were playing on TV and it felt like my living room would be if I could get away with it. So today we had good drinks, great company as we knew people, affordable cocktails, and we enjoy a great environment. We sat outside and enjoyed the Norman Rockwellesque Esmeralda Avenue. Great historic place to grab a cocktail if in Minden, NV just a couple blocks off the 395, the bar is situated in an old historic Minden bank. Rocky is an amazing a hilarious bartender, quick witted and will keep you laughing! Melissa is another favorite bar tender who is also super fun and on top of it, even on super crowded days. We love the pizzas from there too! Our go-to: Margarita w/ pepperoni added! Just across from the COD Casino and Schat's bakery; it's easy to find and a great place to hang out. Popped into this bar after perusing the farmers market. The atmosphere was nice and people looked like they were having a good time. I'm giving the bar a 3 star for a couple of reasons 1- the bartender was not very personable. I tend to let things like this go when a bar top is busy because they have to move quick to get everyone their drinks but it wasn't busy. 2- my margarita was terrible, it wasn't balanced and was so sweet I couldn't drink it. I ended up tossing it and getting a beer. I will give this place another chance since my experience was based on one staff member. read more

Cute place, simple food, brief menu but what we ordered was Yummy. This is more of a drinking place so I'd assume the drinks are probably pretty good too. We don't drink so it was super cheap. As others mentioned, darn good pizza, along with the stuffed mushroom appetizer, and good beer selection. But dang one of the most unwelcoming places I've been in a long time. Bartender would not smile and seemed annoyed at our presence, and guy cooking pizza was same deal. We rolled in, from out of town, to stares and crickets upon entering, to enjoy the Niners Monday night football season opener, so can only imagine my buddy's 49ers jersey immediately put them out cuz they weren't fans which is ridiculous... It's a sports bar and supposed to be welcoming. As we were leaving the bartender unprovoked made a snarky remark, followed up by a couple of his boozy buddies at the bar giving us lip for no reason, and then jumping into politics for some reason. We were nothing but kind, still left a tip, but will not go back, i'd recommend finding pizza somewhere else and not giving this place any business, why they would be so unwelcoming to out of towners, especially when they depend heavily on yelp, is beyond me, lose the lame attitude guys!! read more

Once again with my trusty Yelp app in hand up pops The Corner Bar and this was a GREAT FIND! Not only were the reviews true about them on Yelp but also on other Social Media venues and they did NOT disappoint. Small local corner bar with a warm, inviting exterior with sports memorabilia all around. The service we received was beyond friendly and welcoming - the server/waitress ROCKS here and we have enjoyed coming back to see her and YES she's remembered us too! For drinks I have had 'the' PERFECT Raspberry Vodka Press each time I've come here and my hubby opts for a craft beer of his choice (usually what his palate is up for that evening). Now to the AMAZING food that also brought us here - first the JUMBO Shrimp Cocktail - ummm oxymoron, yep we all know the pun and what not, but if you dream of the PERFECT Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail with celery cut to the precise size that (okay I'm losing it over here - MUST GOOOO BACK FOR ANOTHER SOON!) is the right balance of celery to cocktail sauce ratio - yep PERFECTION! Our Gal/Server Extraordinare told us about their Meatball Sliders and that they were AMAZING plus she could get those out pretty quick if we would like to give those a try so ummm yeppers!! WE WERE IN! When this Bite-sized Slider arrived it looked and smelled amazing - the melted mozzarella, marinara and the meatball were seasoned and tasted DIVINE! Next we carefully looked over the pizza choices and then selected the Margherita Pizza and once again with some of our wonderful server advice we opted to add prosciutto. When our personal size pizza arrived it was tastyyyy- OH YEAH!! The crust was crisp to perfection, the toppings were hot, cheese melty and the flavors - OMTASTY!! YES!! the reviews are spot on for ONE OF THE BEST PIZZA'S AROUND!! We have made the point to pop in again and have Meatball Sliders of course and tried the Pizza of the night - and we were once again ELATED with both service and food plus our drink choices. My friend, daughter and I had never been here so we decided to give it a try. We happened to go on Wednesday trivia night. We were asked if we had come in for the trivia which we told them it was our first time there. We were encouraged to play. We came in last place but had fun participating. Our server was amazing. Super friendly personalty. She suggested the stuffed mushroom which were so yummy. Our personal pizzas were cooked to perfection with just enough of the crust crispy. I added procuitto to my pizza and it was delicious! I wish there were a few more items on the menu to choose from but consider the size of the kitchen I realize that offer a few amazing things and keep it simple might be their goal. We stopped on our way back from camping to the Bay Area. It was perfect for us as we were looking for something light to eat around 4:30pm and everywhere else was shut. I had the margarita pizza, my husband had the hot dog and chilli and the BBQ pork slider. Everything tastes great. The menu is more like an extended bar snack menu so limited compared to a restaurant but that was perfect for us. The man behind the bar was also very attentive. We usually keep our top to a minimum because we are cheap but today we gave a full 25%! Update: I puked on the way home!!! Ha ha! Must've been food poisoning I think. Passing through, and this bar seemed quaint from the street, so we walked in for a glass of wine. Echo the comments about the weird vibe. The snotty bartender barked my two choices, and when I asked if that was it, told me "this isn't California." Wine ships to Minden, and stores well on tap. We walked out. If I lived within walking distance of The Corner Bar, I'd be there everyday. A very friendly place to go for a beer and a bite to eat. Looking at their small pizza oven, you'd never image that the pizza would be so good. But, it is. One of my favorite selections, when it's one of the daily specials, is the meatball sandwich. Not too many places can make a decent meatball, but The Corner Bar can. Pam and Erica make visiting here a good time. I meet somebody new every time I go. Woo hoo, my 100th review for 2014! I saved The Corner Bar for this review. I love this place! In so many ways it reminds me of the friendly, local bar, most likely cause it is exactly that. I'm not sure how we found this place but it has been our family stop for special occasions. The staff and customers are so friendly and welcoming. You truly get to know the people if you take the time to listen. The drinks are well worth the cost, some of the best drinks I've ever had. They have amazing pizza, I mean AMAZING! I always saw this place full during community concerts so we decided to stop in. The staff was very nice and when I told her it was our first time in she went through the whole menu with us. Now this is a corner bar so the menu consisted of appetizers. However, the stuffed mushrooms were incredible! The double shot I ordered was a nice size and well worth the price. PIZZA !!! Great little local place for pork slider specials and the best pizza in town. Believe me, we are picky about our pizza! They are cooked perfectly. In the summer you can sit outside and people watch during the farmer's market and have a bite to eat and a drink. Good service and nice atmosphere. They have a nice selection of draught beers, and the bartender makes a great margarita, too. You might have to step inside to order the drinks, but that's not a big deal. She will find you. Also in the winter, we sat inside at the bar and watched the snow pile up outside. (Couple of years ago.) Excellent little local place. Please take time to notice the architecture. Several months back we went to the chili cook off at Entero real estate. We tasted the chili from The Corner Bar. It was out of this world. They told us to come by the bar for their pizza. Today we went there for lunch. The lady bartender explained the menu to us and the specials. We ordered Pulled pork sliders and their P and P pizza, pepperoni and peperoncini pizza. The sliders were very tasty and fresh. The pizza was the best we have had yet in the valley. The crust was thin, right and tasty. We are going to make The Corner Bar one of our favorite lunch locations. read more
