    Fish Tacos (with onion rings)

We've been looking for a new casual dinner spot in Carson so we decided to give Roy's a try. It's in a strip mall behind a Chevron in Indian Hills, easy to get to from 395. Megan was our server and she took great care of us. My mom started with a glass of champagne, it came out in a beautiful glass! They have a nice wine/beer list and full bar. I decided to try the fish tacos. They come with chips but I was able to sub onion rings, for the win! They were so yummy and fresh. The tacos were great, fried fish with a lot of flavor, cabbage, avocado and cheese. My mom had a Roy burger and fries and really enjoyed it, plus had leftovers. Husband had the Philly Cheesesteak, so huge and delicious. He said the bun was perfect. I tried the meat and it was so good, thin slices with creamy cheese, peppers and onions. All in all a great experience and we look forward to coming back soon.

Roy's Bar and Grill has kicked it up a notch and we really like it. We stopped in at Roy's on a Saturday afternoon expecting the usual and discovered they had a new menu. Let me start out by saying the onion rings are amazing! I had the fish tacos with a side of onion rings and my wife had the fish and chips but changed the chips to onion rings. Both were very good. The service was helpful and very friendly. The ambiance is between bar and restaurant but more than likely changes depending on the time of day. We will definitely be back.

I think this was another restaurant location previously - so when we saw the "now open" sign, we weren't sure what to expect! It's a bar/grill with a small bar area, pool table and decent sized dining room area. Our server was friendly, attentive, informative and started off the experience well. DH ordered the wings/fries. The wings sauce he selected was the soy ginger and it was delicious- the wings were crispy, and cooked throughout! I had the jalapeño burger and was really impressed by the flavor, juiciness and it was done to perfection! The burger was perfectly cooked and the heat was nice, not too hot and the jam not too sweet! I really thought it was a great burger! Fries were hot, salted and well done! Overall we enjoyed our lunch - solid 4.5 stars!

Been meaning to make it out here for a while now. All I have to say is WOW. It's a nice clean little bar and grill tucked just outside the southern end of Carson City. Fairly small menu so you don't have to debate endlessly on what to get. We came with a group of four so we got to try a few things. We kicked the meal off with the bacon jalapeño poppers and the deep fried mozzarella. Both were excellent, fried well and were not greasy at all. I personally went for the country fried cordon blue. For me it was a nostalgia factor cause I loved cordon blue as a kid and really haven't had one in years. WOW WOW WOW, easily one of the best things I've eaten in quite some time. Fried to perfection and the sauce on top made this quite the experience. I'm only disappointed I have to drive 45 minutes to get here. I also had a couple bites of the chicken fried steak which was also fried beautifully. I didn't try the spinach salad but the friend that ordered it said this is her third time ordering it so I imagine it's all you want in a nice salad. For dessert I felt it was my Yelp duty to get the cheesecake just so there is a picture of it. The cheesecake was great. But be warned it's on the way sweeter side of cheesecake. Glad I had a little help putting it down. Service was solid and I'll definitely be back. If nothing else I'll be back for another cordon blue

I have driven past this place many times and finally decided to try it. We had our two dogs and sat outside on the patio which was great space. I didn't get pictures of our drinks but we had an old fashioned and margarita, both good. I wanted to try their peanut butter martini but they were out one of the ingredients, maybe next time. For dinner we ordered a classic hamburger, grilled chicken sandwich and soup of the day. They were all excellent!! You could tell they use fresh ingredients and made everything from scratch, including the sauces and dressing. A huge shout out to our server, she was excellent! This will definitely be in my restaurant rotation.

Roy's is a newish restaurant tucked in Indian Hills in Carson City. It's in a small shopping and business area behind the Chevron gas station. We stopped in for lunch and were impressed right away with the what looked like new interior and clean atmosphere. The layout and design of the place were similar to a dive bar, but giving much more upscale vibes. We discussed what the goal of Roy's is. Upscale bar serving great food? Dive bar with a pool table and jukebox when you walk in? Maybe both? Either way, it's a clean and comfortable atmosphere with elements of a late night bar like great drinks, music and billiards. Very welcomed vibes in Carson. Our waitress was quick, she was the only one working but served everyone efficiently. We ordered waters, a Ceasar salad and the Philly cheesesteak. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time and the cheesesteak was piping hot. Portions were large. The cheesesteak was killer! Thin sliced ribeye with a great melty cheese sauce. It was huge too. The onion rings were great and the fries were fine, but needed salt and didn't taste as fresh as the onion rings. The Ceasar was solid. Nothing crazy but it was fresh and the blackened chicken was well done. There were several other items on the menu that caught my eye, like the chicken parm sandwich, the burgers looked great, and the mushroom pasta looked tasty. Roy's is a great new addition to the Carson area. Although some minor adjustments can be made, it's clear the kitchen cares about making good food and the staff is working hard to ensure a good experience. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Solid little restaurant in Carson City. Open seating, nice selection of tv's to watch. Booths and tables. Food was solid i enjoyed this little hidden gem. The fries and onion rings were awesome. The burger is excellent so solid. Great job and see you again soon.

I had such high hopes for this restaurant! I rarely come to Carson for food and decided to pick this place after hearing about it. We arrived at 11 and didn't get our food until about noon and that's with it not being busy, I'm pretty sure they forgot about us after we said we needed more time to order. We were given the brunch menu that doesn't have a lot options but then I noticed that people who arrive at 11:30-11:40 get the lunch menu and get better service. I just find it strange that things aren't consistent. I would have preferred the lunch menu honestly since that's what caught my eye online. Our back up server almost made me give this place two stars as her attitude seemed unkind and annoyed. Once our true serve came out (Jasmine) it made up for the previous girl. She was nice. The food we ordered was the cream cheese stuffed French toast, breakfast burger, Roy's breakfast, and an OG avocado toast. We wanted to get two cocktails on their menu but they didn't have it. I find it would be helpful to just remove it already or tell your customers before they get their hopes up lol The only thing that really sucked that I would not recommend ordering is the avocado toast. Just way too plain for me. And it comes with a big slab of cream cheese, which if it said, "huge slab of cream cheese" I wouldn't have ordered it. The rest of the food was not bad. (Not pictured is the French toast as it came later and I forgot) My bf ordered the old fashion and he said it was watered down. The limoncello drink was good since it tasted like lemonade! I was just super excited for this place and was a bit disappointed.

Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich (split order; the other half was on my wife's plate..!)
    Ian M.

After reading some Yelp reviews and good pictures, we decided to come try this place on our way to Carson City. Located in south Carson, it's an easy parking lot to get into and was really a nicely set-up restaurant and bar, with a small outdoor dining area that would be great in the warmer months of the year. We came with a Philly Cheesesteak in mind and ordered it as it comes with added mushrooms. We opted for Onion rings versus fries and told the waitress we would split the sandwich, rings and would also like to try the BLT Deviled Eggs as a starter. The eggs were amazing and disappeared quickly...! When the sandwich arrived, it was enormous portions and my wife and I could barely eat the half we each had in front of us....! The waitress and kitchen were very thoughtful to split it back there and bring it out already divided up and ready to eat. The sandwich was delicious and filling. They make it the typical Philly way with cheese sauce. It was great the way it comes, but my preference is provolone or mozzarella so I'll remember to adjust my order next time. This was a great late lunch and I'd have to say a big step above your typical bar food. Although the restaurant is half taken up by a bar and pool table area, we found the dining room to be nicely decorated and very clean and inviting. Enjoy!

Great food, excellent service, nice atmosphere, clean facility. Good music, nice lighting. We had a simple lunch... fries, Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps, house salad. Everything was fresh, delicious and reasonably priced.

Cajun pasta & double smash burger

Had some yummy Cajun pasta tonight with, chicken, chorizo & shrimp and my husband had a double smash burger. Both were delicious & great portions. 4 stars only because the soda was flat & no flavor. We will be back to try the French dip the chicken fried steak!

The wait was nearly an hour and it's easy to see why. We started with the fry bread and the jalapeño bombs. The fry bread was delicious, but those jalapeño bombs were an absolute 10/10 and a must-order. We originally came for the prime rib, but unfortunately they had already sold out around 6 p.m., which was definitely disappointing. Thankfully, the food that did make it to our table erased that disappointment pretty quickly. We ordered the two-meat BBQ plate with ribs and brisket, and both were cooked to perfection. The meat was tender, smoky, and paired perfectly with their delicious BBQ sauce. We also tried the spicy pot pie, which was unlike any pot pie I've had before, in a good way. It reminded me of an enchilada baked inside a buttery, flaky crust, and it was fantastic. The service was equally impressive. We had 12 people with us (whole family in town), so we were excited to support a local place and bring them a big table of business. Unfortunately, multiple meals came out cold (5 in total), and we mentioned it immediately - calmly and respectfully - because we assumed they'd want the chance to fix it. Our waitress, Yemi, was honestly the best part of the lunch. She was attentive, kind, and genuinely apologetic. She handled everything with professionalism and grace. The manager (who may also be a cook) is what ruined it. He was angry, hostile, combative and argumentative right away - and what stood out most is he didn't even lead with solutions like re-cooking, replacing plates, or trying to make it right. No real apology for the food, and definitely no apology for the experience. It wasn't until AFTER we told him his attitude was awful and that he needs to leave us alone and let the waitress handle it (as he is making things worse) that he offered to either take the meals off the bill or remake them- and he didn't apologize at all, then with a massive chip on his shoulder he said again he didn't believe our food was cold. Some of us said take their food off the bill and some one of us had it remade. At the end as we were leaving, he actually doubled down on his awfulness and gave what felt like a sorry excuse for an apology. His version of "sorry" was basically: "I should have been nicer when telling you that you were wrong about the food being bad or cold." Then he said, "I'm sorry, I'm just really passionate about my food - especially when I'm told it was cold when I know it was hot."..... SERIOUSLY!? That's your apology for our experience and multiple people immediately telling you the food was cold, why would that many people lie.... Wow So... not an apology for our experience, not an apology for the cold food - more like "sorry you saw me get upset while I told you you were wrong." Food mistakes happen. How management handles them is what matters - and this was handled terribly. We won't be returning, and I'm sharing this so others know what to expect. Again, Yemi was great - she deserved way more support than she got.
