Not sure if this place changed owners around early 2025 because everything is different. Not the Thai I'm used to there and it also seems different from all the Thai textures in general. The boba is gritty squares in different colors with odd taste (not chewy round balls). But the green tea on ice, it came with was good. The meatball pho I usually get now also has raw beef slices also put directly ON the noodles it comes with. Ir they got the order incorrect three times. I would never order anything raw normally. I was surprised to see blood soaked noodles when I opened my to-go container. The meatballs were ok but not the size or consistency of all the other phos I've had. The little bag of bean sprouts was minimal quantity of sprouts, basil I had to throw most out with black leaves. I've tried this place twice in 6 months getting meals for two to -go each time and won't be back. 5 months ago I ordered and 2 meals were both wrong when I got home so that's a separate issue to check your order before you leave. This has always been our favorite location for Pho but unfortunately this experience was less than the best. We usually order our food to go, and we were happy to see that they have upgraded to to-go bowls. Sadly, the things the pho is served with (packets, basil, limes, onions, jalapeños, sprouts) were all thrown into 1 bag instead of 3 separate bags-1 for each person. This made it hard as 1 person in our group is allergic to onions and asked for no onions and there was still onions in the bag...just a smaller portion than for 3 orders. We also have one person that can't do spicy and having the jalapenos in the bag made everything spicy. We all found several dark hairs in our food. We know it isn't ours since 2 are bald and I am blonde. My go-to for Vietnamese cuisine while in Carson. Rainy days call for pho, but I really don't need an excuse to order pho. I fell in love years ago when my Vietnamese best friend introduced me to homeade pho. I've since compared every bowl to that initial meeting. There are only a few local places in town that I regularly visit that even get the broth close. I'll eat pho rain or sunshine; I could eat it daily. My tofu spring rolls were good, just a smaller portion than I'm used to. I can't really justify paying about $10 for tofu spring rolls. My broth was pretty salty, but I warmed it up at home in a pot, but I needed to add hot water to cut the salt. My to-go order was ready when they said it would be ready. They have plenty of seating if you prefer to dine in, but I'm usually just passing by, so I order to-go. Service is usually fairly quick. My 4 stars was for their higher prices and quantity ratio. My soup lacked much meat. I may have to find another pho stop when I'm passing by. read more

I was craving pho and came here to try it out. When you enter you have a wide open space dining. They have a paper menu which was very simple. I ordered a bowl of pho and a rice plate. The pho was decently flavored. I ended up adding a lot of chili oil and sauce to make the soup more flavorful. The staff were nice and friendly. The service here is terrible. This is like the only pho restaurant in Carson city and I kept trying to give it a chance. I have been here to dine in once because I ordered multiple times on DoorDash and it's always a terrible experience with this restaurant , (they won't give you any utensils, any hoisin sauce, any condiments that you need for your food). So I decided to dine in because I wasn't feeling well and I knew if I ordered it it would be terrible. I was wrong. The portions are just the same, they give you the smallest portions for the price smh. The crab Rangoon are literally just fried wontons. I will never eat here or order on DoorDash again. I stopped I here today to have lunch with a group of friends. It's been years since I've been here. The last time I was here, it was good. This time, was not such a good experience. We were greeted and seated when we came in. The server came to our table and took our orders and handed out our drinks. Well, everyone in my group received their food except me. So I waited thinking that my order should arrive shortly. After about 15 minutes after my friends got their order, I still didn't have my food. My buddies were already almost done with their meal. I looked up at the server like, "where's my order?" They server looked surprised and said something to the cooks. Well apparently it looked like they forgot my order. So I've been sitting there for almost half an hour waiting. The server told me it would be out in five minutes. I almost told him to forget it since everyone was already done eating. I can get some KFC fried chicken next door in less than five minutes. Anyway, my food arrived within the 5 minutes. I ordered the bun/ vermicelli noodles with flame broiled pork and egg roll. It wasn't that good. Not worth the wait. The noodles were really dry. There was something about it that was missing. It was edible, which I ate it all but, it didn't taste all that good to where I'd want to come back. Other pho places had vegetables and more seasoning in. This one didn't. I suppose it was because they were rushing to get the plate out , they forgot to put the stuff in it. Well at least the has the egg roll and flame broiled pork in there. My husband and I were on the way home from visiting some friends in Truckee and our GPS took us through Carson City as it was faster than going through the tourist-infested areas of Tahoe. I was craving some pho but didn't want to drive to Reno that evening since it was already later in the day and we were tired. I came across Pho Country on Yelp and saw the mixed reviews. However, this was the only place that served pho, and I decided to try it. Unfortunately, this was one of the places where I do not believe the 3.5 star rule (iykyk) holds up. Let's break my review down into sections for easier viewing purposes. GENERAL OBSERVATIONS: The restaurant was clean and tidy. However, upon walking in, I was not greeted with the smell of pho broth. When entering a Vietnamese restaurant (or even when outside one), you would normally smell the delicious broth that has been boiling for hours on end. This was not the case here. First red flag. Upon being seated, I took one look at the menu and immediately commented on how extensive it was. I've included menu photos below so you can see for yourself. Having so many menu items is generally not a good sign as the restaurant cannot focus its efforts on making quality dishes. I originally wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt since Pho Country was the only Vietnamese restaurant in Carson City. Thirdly, I noticed that all the condiments came packaged. There were no bottles of sriracha or hoisin sauce, but rather the packets you'd get when ordering pho for takeout. There were small containers of chili oil, however, which was nice. Regardless, the lack of actual bottles was concerning. Lastly, the cutlery provided to us at our table were not the standard chopsticks and soup spoons, but rather forks and spoons. I had to request for chopsticks for both my husband and I, and even then, they were single use. THE SERVICE: Service was decent. We were greeted upon entering the restaurant and quickly seated. The dining room isn't very large but the tables were bussed quickly. Water was provided almost immediately in large glasses. However, it did take a bit of time for our orders to be taken. THE FOOD: For our appetizer, we ordered chicken egg rolls. I ordered the combination pho for my main while my husband ordered the hot and spicy seafood tom yum, which was served with a side of rice. The chicken egg rolls--my first comment was how I couldn't exactly taste the meat inside. They were crispy and flaky and very hot, but flavor wise, they were lacking. The fish sauce was nothing special, and I felt like there wasn't enough of it to go around. The pho dac biet--unfortunately, this is where my comment about the lack of aroma of pho broth ties into my food. You'd think for a restaurant that is called Pho Country that they would have decent pho. I'm a pho snob. I have pho almost every week. This was not it. I agree with other reviews that mentioned the toughness of the meats. The menu mentioned that it would come with rare steak, and there was absolutely none in the bowl (all the meat was cooked). The brisket was basically nonexistent, and don't get me started on the broth. The noodles were also clumped together at the bottom of the bowl. While it didn't take me much effort to separate them, no one wants clumpy noodles. Pho should be comfort food and an experience, not a mindless meal. If Pho Country is some newbie's first introduction to pho, I beg of you, please make the drive to Reno. I've had pretty good pho there. Nothing that compares to CA of course but a far cry from this bowl that I had. The seafood tom yum--my husband and I were confused as to why it was served with rice instead of noodles. However, that was the only option we were given, and he wanted tom yum, so he still ordered it. The flavor of the broth itself was okay and had a good spice level to it. However, I noticed that there were jalapeños floating in the broth. Tom yum is a Thai soup, and should have Thai chilies for spiciness, not jalapeños. In addition, my husband was quick to mention that even though he ordered the seafood tom yum, there were not many pieces of seafood in the broth. There were tons of veggies and mushrooms, however. For $15 we were expecting a lot more seafood. Even my bowl of pho had more meat than his bowl. Regardless, he did not end up finishing his broth and we got the rest to go as we do not waste food. I'll just be adding more shrimp into it at home. The rice was fine he said, but nothing to write home about. At least it was not overcooked. All in all, the food was not terrible, hence the 3 stars, but it was a far cry from food that usually makes me go "I had a nice meal". My husband and I have a thing where we will ask each other if we enjoyed our food at the end of our meal and I don't recall us asking that to each other. We left unsatisfied, but thankfully our next trip to NV will be to Reno so there will be plenty of delicious options for Asian food there. read more

So I just LOVE their crispy calamari appetizer! I come here just for that! I REALLY enjoy the onions, pepper and, what, vinegar (?) on the lettuce under the calamari. It was kind of hit and miss with the food. The appetizer was great. How are the Phad thia was a little lack luster. We opted to leave out the tendon and tripe. Not our favorite. The broth itself was excellent. With that little squeeze of lime, it just got that much better. The meatballs were really good, but there was no rare steak, pretty much all the meats in the pho were tough, really hard to chew. The meatballs were not tough. They did have a little chew too them, but really good flavored and not tough. We shared this between 2 people and still could not finish it. The lady that took our order was really sweet, but the guy that delivered it was either having a bad day or was just in a mood. We had to ask for several different things, and he really seemed bothered to help us even though we were as pleasant as can be with smiles. Just don't know. If you are working for tips, thats not the way to do it. We will be going back, but next time, think we will stick with the meatballs and shrimp in the pho. Now I did get to eat some of there rice paper spring rolls with excellent peanut sauce a month ago and those were amazing to say the least. Did not get a pic though. With hardly any competition in the Carson City area, Pho Country seemed a decent choice. Orders: Appetizer:Shredded Pork Rice Paper Spring Rolls, while the ingredients were fresh, the price was a little steep at 2/$9, but I was craving this so I got it. #103 Hero Pork section of the menu. Usually I look for a Grilled Pork Chop plate, but this place only serves slices of Pork & the Shredded Pork(a little redundant, but in a different manner of making it), the flavor was nothing to excite my taste buds, but it made me content. Pho Country is clean & met the Public Health standards, so that says a lot to me. As far as food goes, it is your average Vietnamese restaurant minus the grilled pork chop. read more

We've been here for either lunch or dinner about 5 times now. I'm torn on the review cause there are definitely goods and not so goods in my opinion. Regardless, there are lots of pho places in Reno. This is not on my top 5 but If I'm in the neighborhood and craving a bowl of pho in a pinch, I'll be back. Pro: Parking is a breeze. They have their own parking lot and never had an issue, The food comes out quick. Nice variety on the menu. Food and broth flavorful. ( I usually get the rare steak or vermicelli with pork) Cons: Service is average at best. We aren't greeted and I don't think anyone there has cracked a smile or returned a nice greeting. We've asked to have things on the side, for instance, my husband isn't having carbs now. They declined to put noodles on the side of a bowl of pho. Story of my experiences at this establishment. If you don't want to read the story, go to the last paragraph of my post for my opinion. My first experience here was not the best. I ordered the vermicelli with the grill pork; the sauce was not as flavorful as I would have liked, the meat had a strange texture and it was under seasoned. Egg rolls were good though. I tried this place a second time as a friend recommended me to try their tofu. I always give small businesses a few chances before writing them out of my books completely. The lemongrass tofu was awesome. Great flavor, crispy and nice and hot! My third experience was a little underwhelming. They accommodated giving me beef broth instead of the egg soup that is typically given which was nice of them. I ordered the tofu again and my husband ordered a large Mongolian beef. The rice was either made improperly or it was day old as it was super dry, not soft and fluffy. My tofu this time around was overly salty and lukewarm. My husband liked his dish. Overall we were was satisfied enough. We had to get home in a hurry so we paid and left. I had a gut feeling to check my receipt (I had it texted to my phone) once I got home so I did. I was baffled on why we were charged an additional $3 for the Mongolian beef as the menu offered a large for ~$15. So I called and just wanted some clarification. I called and asked the person on the phone how much a small versus a large cost. They told me the cost of a small way ~$13 and a large was ~$15 so I asked, "why was I charged an additional $3"? If he had said it was a mistake, I would have let it go. A small mistake for $3 is nothing. But the person over the phone was making excuses saying it was a "sales tax", which was a lie because sales tax is added at the bottom of the receipt and the receipt clearly states LARGE $3.. He and I went back-and-forth for a couple of minutes and I finally dropped it as they were not going to own up to their mistake. Oh! and service is so-so. Each time they typically just drop off water, take your order, drop off your food, then drop off your check (when it looks like you're done) and then you pay at the counter. It would be nice if they at least checked in on you ONCE to see how the food is... All in all I will never give a small business less than three stars because I believe every small business should be given a chance not based on their "rating". BUT, I will not be coming back to this establishment again based on mediocre food and not being honest with a customer who is supporting your business. My advice to anybody coming here is to give them a chance and taste their food but check your receipts before you pay. read more

Stopped here on the way home from Reno. My friend and I couldn't decide what to eat in the area and pho is usually a safe choice for us. Upon arrival, parking wasn't an issue for 11am. Walked in and was seated immediately. The menu was already on the table read for us so off we went. They have a large variety to choose from and honestly it was hard for me to decide because there was so much to choose from. I ended up getting the wonton soup, my friend got the dry noodle, and we got egg rolls to share. First time egg rolls came out, they were pretty good. Right out of the fryer, just how I like it. Then my wonton soup and my friends noodles came out. My friend seemed to enjoy her food. I thought my wonton soup was okay. For everything, it came out to about $33 and some change. Overall food was okay. Service was great and the restaurant was clean. If I stop by here again, I'll need to try other things from the menu. They have a great selection but maybe I wasn't feeling wonton soup that day. read more

The peanut sauce was plain, mostly heated peanut butter. Had to go home and add ingredients to make it the actual peanut sauce for spring rolls. The walnut trip was good. I ordered porkchop and I don't like it because it's not grilled it was floating in oil, and need a little bit more of cooking I think, egg roll was salty, my husband ordered Vietnamese chowmein it was ok if it's not salty. This restaurant has a multitude of absolutely delicious Vietnamese dishes all of which are very fresh and offer a variety of different options which are very delectable. I highly recommend this family run business in Northern Carson City. The service is polite, expedient and professional.
