Sate Ayam with Mie Goreng
Kevin S.

Very helpful and friendly staff, open kitchen with lots of booth, table and barstool seating. The food WAS very tasty, made to order, and served quickly. The "mild" has some spice but wasn't too spicy, just spiced for flavor. Nice to have this option in Carson City

Beef rendang - spicy and served with coconut rice, egg, and veggies.

Great place to eat with authentic Asian flavors! Omg was thrilled to finally find a place with rich tasting food! Ordered the beef rendang and it not only met my expectations but surpassed it! This time the menu doesn't lie when it says a dish is spicy! Amen to that! Spouse ordered a chicken dish and wasn't quite ready for the spice. Quick service, didn't have to wait for very long at all for the food and drinks to arrive. You order on their kiosk or through your phone. Love the space to eat, lots of parking, and since it's part of a strip mall, there's also plenty of places to walk around after your wonderful meal!

The plating was creative.

I beg to differ. The "Award winning" whatever it was needs some work to become user friendly. Apparently we can not tell when you are busy as in restaurant there were inly a handful of customers, I would assume half for mexican and half for indonesian. I came here QUITE hopeful as I enjoy Indonesian.

Tum Babi

I recently heard about this new Indonesian restaurant and decided to stop in after a few games of bowling. I always enjoy trying something new, so I ordered the Tum Babi. Unfortunately, the entrée just wasn't for me. I was expecting something a bit like kalua pork, and the flavor profile was very different from what I had in mind. So Craig, why 4 stars? I looked over the menu and saw other dishes coming out, and I'm confident mine was prepared correctly--it simply didn't match my personal taste. I didn't want to under rate the restaurant just because the dish I chose didn't fit my palate. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and the presentation was excellent. I'll definitely need to return and try some of their other delicious-looking dishes before giving a full recommendation--but I'm looking forward to it.

My mother loves the noodles. There was enough to share.

Great food and great service! Got the pleasure of meeting the owners. He helped my family order by suggesting some entrees. We wanted one to be spicy and boy did he pick it! The cook is the other owner and she got our food perfect! Definitely will be back when we are in town.

Sate Ayam with Nasi Goreng

FLAVORRRR! We were passing through from Tahoe and found this place through yelp and decided to give it a shot. We ordered the Beef Rendang and chicken satay with nasi goreng. Beef Rendang was labeled spicy and they do not play! It was borderline too spicy, but great that a place does spicy and it's actually spicy. The flavor was not lost even though it was spicy. Only con was the beef was on the dryer side. Chicken Satay, the sauce on the chicken was amazing. I could eat the sauce with white rice all day. Chicken was a bit dry. Value was there as well! I would say the portion size is about 1.25 to 1.5 in servings. We definitely had left overs. Flavors were there and authentic, the only con is all the proteins were a bit on the dryer side.

Pork and vegetables potstickers, good and nice portion

I'd say 4 stars for now. Love the vibe and the Food Hall feeling of this remodeled mall. Owners were so nice and love explaining their adventures of opening their restaurant. You order at an iPad stand when you walk in. Menu has pictures of the dishes with is nice and dishes come out spot on. The food! Great flavors of Bali! Indonesian food is a mix of Thai and Indian? It's delicious mix of spices, tons of flavor with a little (or a lot) of heat. We started with pork/veggie potstickers. Crispy and tasty. Then we had the chicken skewers, served with coconut rice, and some fresh veggies dressing the beautiful bamboo plate on a banana leaf! Our to-go box was brought to the table by the lovely owner/chef and she slid the banana leaf with leftovers straight into the box! Love it! My one issue, the skewers were white meat chicken chunks. They were over cooked. Dry even. I get it. Americans like white meat. They needed to be cooked less. Even better offer a dark meat option. But we will be back. I want to try the fish for sure!

8/10/25 FYI. Entrance from mall.

Quality/Quantity - Congrats on all your success; wishing you the best. You deserve it! Wow, I can NOT believe it has been since February of 2024 since we discovered you (Bali Express) at the Revision Yelp event. What a 5 star event! So of course ,when we found out you are now in Carson City (since 7/8/25), we wanted to support you! Oh, also congrats on your 2 year anniversary! So many blessings. Love your faith shirts BTW. My wife insisted we get the best sellers, so we got all 3! Lumpia - Generous portions. Made fresh. The sauces compliment it well. I don't think it was your typical sweet and spicy sauce, it must have an extra spice or two in it...? Well, my wife took most of the sauce, so I did not get to re-sample it, lol. Made fresh after we ordered, so be careful as it was piping HOT. Rendang - SO spicy!! I loved it. But not when I am traveling, lol. Sampled and took the rest home to finish. As light eaters, we typically over order... Mie Goreng - Their version of chow mein. Again, so good. Everything was made to order, so fresh. They also gave us two sauces, see picture. But we did not need it as the food was already so flavorful. I took it home and will add it to my cooking Complimentary bottled water when dining in; thank you. Saved me a walk back to the car. Next time we will try your other side, your partner's Fuego Tacos! Atmosphere - Beautiful location. I look forward to all the future decor. Decent size indoor seating, booths, tables, and counters. See pictures. Outdoor seating also, see pictures. Open 7 days a week from 11am to 9pm or 10pm. See my pictures. Huge restroom. Service - 6 stars. Both Barry and his wife are so welcoming. If you are following, we usually eat at "irregular" times to avoid crowds. So not many customers, which gave us a chance to hang out with Barry, and all the other owners. Price - $42 + tip. Reasonable prices for all we got. Owner Comment - Congrats on your continued success! And all your awards (4, soon to be 5...?) We look forward to supporting you.

This is for Bali Express, as they have 2 restaurants in the same building. Ok to start, ordering was a little confusing, but the sweet lady that that is past owner af runs the place helped us out. She is from Bali, so her food is authentic. We started with the chicken and veggie lumpia. These are too die for. They are so flakey and everything inside is so fresh. A great sauce that comes with them. For the entree, we ordered the orange chicken with the Indonesian fried rice. The orange chicken was very good. A very mild sauce that we really enjoyed. The fried rice was very good also. A side of sambal for the hubby. He loves his spice. Go try this place for authentic food. And the sweetest restaurant co-owner . They have won 5 awards in I believe in less than 5 months. I can see why they have the awards for sure. Now in the restrooms, they have some of the cutest pics and jokes. Will definitely be going back

This is currently only for the Bali Express side of things. I'll definitely be back to try out Fuego tacos! This dynamic duo is housed inside the former shell of a Johnny Rockets so it has nice lunch counter seating and diner style booths/tables. The decor is a little plain but they have plans to liven it up and make it feel less mono color. The staff for both sides of the venue were all friendly and hard at work making food and working on new creations for their menus. As a lover of Bali Express as a food truck I was very excited to see they already started expanding their menu. I brought a group with me to help welcome them on their soft opening. We ordered several items and shared family style. Among the favorites were the peanut butter wings, lumpia, pork satay and the orange chicken. We also tried their boba drinks which were new and they were solid! I'll definitely be back to try new Balinese cuisine and check out Fuego Tacos. I'm looking forward to see some Mexican/Balinese fusion items they were talking about potentially doing!

This is definitely a rising star in the local food scene lacking absolutely nothing in the welcoming, friendly and genuine sincerity department as soon as you walk through the door you feel as though you've been immediately adopted into the family. The Lumpia...I cannot think of any I have enjoyed more than Bali Express's ,fresh, light & crispy inside and out. Shrimp tempura...I've had these a few times now and they are so good! Enough about apps. Today I tried the Ayam Geprik ,spicy sambol smashed chicken w/rice, very spicy (as advertised!) large portion, beautiful plate but it didn't hit all the marks for me & here's why,it was smashed into very small pieces & retained a lot dredge flour & oil from the cooking process and the flavor over all was sambol, isolating the meat by itself exposed it as fairly bland. The fresh cabbage, carrots and cucumbers are a refreshing garnish for this dish as it brings a caliber of HEAT you don't usually experience. The owner Barry and I discussed the food openly and honestly(including my lack of experience w/Indonesian food altogether)and he expressed their plans to introduce new equipment in order to do things like this particular dish on a flame grill instead of in the wok. The place is clean and has new to me food so I'll definitely return! Good job.

Fuego and Bali is truly a hidden gem. We loved the food so much that we even bought extra to take home. Just a heads-up -- their chili is really spicy, but in a good way! The fish was delicious, the pork was great, and the shrimp was fantastic as well. The presentation of every dish is beautiful, especially knowing everything is prepared by the one lady who is the sole chef. Hearing her story with the owner made the experience even more special -- she's so authentic and passionate about what she does. Such a memorable spot!

Believe the hype this place is legit…read more It's tucked away inside a casino, but you'll find it. Everyone behind the counter was very helpful. If you're not familiar with Indonesian cuisine they'll walk you through it. The man working the grill noticed I ordered tofu and checked into make sure any dietary restrictions were covered, I don't have any but it was a nice touch. He also made sure the spice level was what I wanted ahead of time. I can do spicy, but probably not Indo spicy, so he kept it within my limits. I got the lumpia and tofu/egg/rice entree whose name I cannot remember. Absolutely delicious. No qualifiers like "for Carson city" or "for a casino". It was really great. They also made their own (very) hot sauce and riff on Chinese mustard. Both great. Way more than I could finish so they boxed it up beautifully. Then whammo, a surprise fruit salad for palate cleanser/dessert. Love it. Note: they have real sugar Pepsi. Whole heartedly recommend

We stopped into Tee Jay's, tucked into a little corner inside Cactus Jack's, and it turned into one…read moreof those unexpected road trip gems. It's just a small grill with Tee Jay and another cook behind the flat top, but the vibe is warm and playful. They chatted with us while cooking, shared a bit about Indonesian flavors and what to expect, and made the whole thing feel welcoming -- like being fed by friends instead of ordering at a counter. I had the smash burger -- crispy edges, juicy, simple, and really satisfying. My husband got the shroom burger and loved it -- super garlicky and savory. The surprise for me was their ranch blue made with Gorgonzola. I usually don't like blue cheese, but this was creamy, mellow, and honestly delicious. I kept dipping my fries in it. Nothing fancy, just honest comfort food made with care and genuinely kind people. If you're passing through Carson City and want something local and heartfelt instead of chain food, this little spot is absolutely worth the stop. We'd happily go back.
