Chicken with Orange Peel Sauce LUNCH Special
    Danada M.

I was passing through town taking advantage of cheaper fuel prices at Costco in Carson City and discovered the Bamboo Garden. I phoned to ask if they have a lunch special menu and what's included. It's soup and rice and egg roll and wonton with your entree. So I boogied right over. The prices were very reasonable. The quantity was better than most. It's a beautiful little place and I arrived during the lunch rush. I was seated right away and they were quite fast taking my order and getting my food out. There were quite a few servers available. The food was excellent. I ordered the CHICKEN With ORANGE PEEL SAUCE. It was very sweet like orange chicken but honestly, I thought the sauce was even better. It just had more of an orange flavor. So nice! The chicken was tender and it was sliced thin before being battered rather than in larger chunks. I thought it was excellent. I wish I lived closer. Highly recommend. Hope I get back again. Great, fresh and flavorful food! This was our second time visiting and they did not disappoint! The place was packed for a 2:30 lunch on a Saturday, but the staff was calm, friendly, and the food came out only minutes after ordering. Hubby ordered Cahew Chicken with egg flower soup and I ordered the triple combo with veggies in a brown sauce with hot and sour soup. There was not a portion of this meal that was not exceptional, including the lunch price of $12! We will be back for sure!

This is what Generals chicken is supposed to look like. Definitely not what I received

Having moved from SE TX to NW NV, we are still on the search for Chinese food that is decent. We still have not found that. Even with the good reviews. 1st, we ordered to go. I went to pick it up, and the restaurant was really confusing inside. I was looking for a hostess stand etc. Nope, a little tiny counter in the back far corner. No signs to let you know that is where you pick up at. 2nd The food was subpar for the price. Had the hot n sour soup. It was just ok. Not much flavor compared to others in the area. Ordered a general's chicken lunch special. It is like sweet n sour chicken breaded just with general's sauce poured over it. Some of the pieces were inedible as they were so hard inside, like this was not their 1st fry. A kung pao (NO SPICE) triple delight lunch special with no beef or peanuts. That was pretty good, but absolutely NO SPICE!!! We wanted SPICE!!!!! 3rd We wanted house fried rice substituted for the regular fried rice but could only get it as a large order that was disappointing to say the least. It literally had 2 shrimp in the entire container, the chicken in it was off tasting, so most of that went into the trash. Not worth the almost 15.00 they charged for it. So, 40.00 of subpar food. Lesson learned. Definitely will not be going back!

The music and lighting of this place is so claiming. The food is excellent. I had the Kung Pao lunch special, tasted great at an awesome value. The service was fast and efficient.

Quoting George Bailey "Here's your hat; what's your hurry?" Wonderful people. Acceptable prices. Low key, comfortable atmosphere. Fabulous food with a very deep menu, but maybe a lack of plates and bowls in the back? Sweet older woman kept trying to take dishes off our table. We stopped her three times, she kept coming around, this time asking "Are you finished with this?" I would love even half this attention at some other places (no names). We counted 26 visits to the table to fill water or try to remove plates. We began timing her. On the average, she came around every four minutes. In her defense it was between meals (2:30pm). It's still the best in Carson City. My Cashew Chicken was superior with plenty of celery, chunks of chicken and cashews! 03/24

Did this place have a different name a few years ago? We used to go to a Chinese restaurant in this location but could swear it was called something different, maybe China Palace or something like that. It was fantastic. Hope they just changed names.

I'm not from the area but Tanya H. wrote in her review of 10/01/19 that it was called Beijing Palace. I can say that the one time we ate here the food, ambiance & service were excellent!

Hi coming from the Bay Area on 2/16 for the weekend need a table for 10 was wondering if there's room for a Lil celebration there?

Look at the pictures under "inside". Although the restaurant mainly features booths, some of the pics show tables that might be pulled together for a group. Give them a call. Nice decor and good food!

I can't believe I have never written a review. Specializing in Indonesian food with a western twist, Tee Jay is serving up great noodle dishes, burgers, cheesesteaks, hot dogs, and one of my new favorites, Loco Moco! The Krakatoa cheesesteak is one of my favorites. Thin-cut steak, cheese, and if you like spicy, it's even better! The loco moco is what I tried most recently, and I thought the portion size was great for the price. The classic noodle dishes like pad thai and the curries are also bomb. The ambiance here isn't the best since it's located on a casino floor; however, the classic counter diner has a special ambiance in and of itself. I almost always get food to-go from here. Tee Jay is always working at this place with a few assistants, and they are a truly kind and caring staff, wanting to make the best food for their guests. Give Tee Jay's a try, you won't regret it.

If you're not familiar with Indonesian cuisine they'll walk you through it. The man working the grill noticed I ordered tofu and checked into make sure any dietary restrictions were covered, I don't have any but it was a nice touch. He also made sure the spice level was what I wanted ahead of time. I can do spicy, but probably not Indo spicy, so he kept it within my limits. I got the lumpia and tofu/egg/rice entree whose name I cannot remember. Absolutely delicious. No qualifiers like "for Carson city" or "for a casino". It was really great. They also made their own (very) hot sauce and riff on Chinese mustard. Both great. Way more than I could finish so they boxed it up beautifully. Then whammo, a surprise fruit salad for palate cleanser/dessert. Love it. Note: they have real sugar Pepsi. Whole heartedly recommend

So, my local friend wanted to take me to this Thai restaurant right down on the main street in downtown, if Carson has an actual downtown that is. We got parking right in front of the place on the main street. Inside is nice and elegant in a Thai kinda way. Nicer than a casual mom and pop Thai joint. We get seated at a nice table near the front. My friend already knows the menu, so I go with hos suggestion for the Lunch special Duck with sauce over rice. It's $22 bucks, so it better be good! He has the Thai battered salmon for around $19. Soup is included and it's just a veggie broth, though tasty. Then our lunch specials come out. Oh wow, that duck look really good. It's totally deboned, so no messing with bones at all. The sauce was super tasty. My friend said he thinks its some sort of duck juice reduction with other added stuff. Whatever, this was one of the most tasty duck dishes I've ever had. His salmon was unique, I never saw a dish like that made with salmon. The coating was very unique and crispy and the salmon not over cooked. Overall, I really liked this place. I think my crew is having lunch at one of the local casinos, I'd rather be here!

The bill came to $80 which I felt was kinda steep for 3 items, especially in Carson City. The restaurant is located on a street where there was very limited parking in front and all the rear parking is super dark so bring your night vision goggles. At least there's plenty of parking spots. When I walked in, I was surprised to see Caucasian staff members! Well I guess this isn't that different than Panda Express where you have hispanics in the front and the 1 token asian in the back cooking. I picked up my food and was pleasantly surprised to find the dishes were pretty loaded. I started dipping into my duck curry and OMG it was probably the best I've had. Not only was the flavor amazing and spiced just right, but there was a generous amount of duck! When I went to eat dim sum recently and ordered roast duck, I got a plate of duck that was mostly skin and bones. Here they actually de-boned the meat so you're getting nice chunks of flavorful, meaty duck along with fresh chunks of pineapple, tomatoes, and spices with that yummy curry over my caucasian rice (I like to be culturally sensitive). Even my wife that don't like duck really enjoyed this. So while $80 for 3 dishes may seem a bit high, it was worth it. I really enjoyed my meal here and my kids also ate all their noodles with enough leftovers for lunch the next day.

That said, the Mango Sticky Rice was AMAZING--definitely the highlight of the meal and the one dish that really stood out. Service started off a bit rough. Most of the prices here seemed to me a little on the high side, like there was one seafood fried rice that was close to $17 bucks, but they have this simple egg fried rice for just $6.95! You can't hardly get anything full order on any menu for $6.95 these days! We just happen to be in the Topsy Lane Shopping center area and Jade Horse is right in there, basically next to the In N Out. Easy parking, we went around noon. My friend ordered 2 orders of the egg fried rice and the total came out to just under $15 with tax. All the other fried rice options with meat included were almost double the price! Got it to go and off we go. The bag felt heavy! Service was fast! Getting back to the house, my friend had some fancy chili oil she added to it as well as some more green onions. Dished out for lunch and wow that was some tasty fried rice. It had that wok seared flavor like a good burger has that grill flavor. The chili oil added just the right amount of spicy. So, for just $7.00 bucks and order that feeds at least 2-3 people, that's a deal! I hear the rest of teh food there at Jade Horse is very good, but a little more on the spendy side.
