For casual Chinese food this place was great! Very good prices, delicious and flavorful food, clean and decorated nicely in the dining room. Stopped in for lunch yesterday and ordered off the lunch menu. I got Mongolian beef with fried rice and it came with a bowl of hot and sour soup, a crab Rangoon, and an egg roll for 11.95 (I think!) the Mongolian beef had such good flavor and my sister's walnut shrimp were crispy and sweet. We came here because someone raved about the Orange Chicken was the best they had ever had. Well, it wasn't the best I've ever had. Not even close. It was also a little heavy on the orange food coloring. I also tried the Mongolian beef which is also one of my favorites and it failed to make the grade as well. Being in Carson City, I try different Chinese restaurants as this is one of my favourite cuisines. I have been to this restaurant several times and each time it's decent. I try a chicken or beef dish each time I go. I always order at lunch time and get the lunch special which comes with a fried egg roll, crab Rangoon and either hot and sour/ egg flour soup. The food tastes good for the price point and have plenty of variety to chose from. The service is good when it comes to being served from the moment you enter to the dining experience. However, each time I have gone, as you're still eating, you will receive your bill before completing your dining experience. I thought it was just a one time thing, but it was happened each time o have gone and find that classless to do. A business should ask its customer of there is anything else they'd like prior to bringing the bill. Maybe they want free tables for turnover, but I find it quite ride ton get it still as you're taking bites of your food. As for parking, there is plenty as they have a large lot in front of the restaurant. The ambiance of the restaurant is casual, nice for lunch or dinner and good for individual lunch or groups. I will return to have lunch there, but I hope they read this and change their handling of receiving the bill. read more

I was passing through town taking advantage of cheaper fuel prices at Costco in Carson City and discovered the Bamboo Garden. I phoned to ask if they have a lunch special menu and what's included. It's soup and rice and egg roll and wonton with your entree. So I boogied right over. The prices were very reasonable. The quantity was better than most. It's a beautiful little place and I arrived during the lunch rush. I was seated right away and they were quite fast taking my order and getting my food out. There were quite a few servers available. The food was excellent. I ordered the CHICKEN With ORANGE PEEL SAUCE. It was very sweet like orange chicken but honestly, I thought the sauce was even better. It just had more of an orange flavor. So nice! The chicken was tender and it was sliced thin before being battered rather than in larger chunks. I thought it was excellent. I wish I lived closer. Highly recommend. Hope I get back again. My husband and I wanted to eat there but they wouldn't allow us to sit in the open booth. There was no one waiting, they wanted us to sit at a tiny table. Most of their booths were taken by single couples. When you eat there you order plates of what you want and they are large. There's no way we would have been able to order several items and have it fit at that tiny table with two chairs, practically in the lap of the booth it was next to. If I'm going to sit down and eat at a restaurant I absolutely don't want to sit at table that feels like I'm at McDonalds. This was messed up. read more

Great, fresh and flavorful food! This was our second time visiting and they did not disappoint! The place was packed for a 2:30 lunch on a Saturday, but the staff was calm, friendly, and the food came out only minutes after ordering. Hubby ordered Cahew Chicken with egg flower soup and I ordered the triple combo with veggies in a brown sauce with hot and sour soup. There was not a portion of this meal that was not exceptional, including the lunch price of $12! We will be back for sure! read more

Its a nice place but the lack of spice in spicy dishes was a let down. The general chicken was sweet with no spice, the curry shrimp again no spice, and the sezchuan chicken also no spice. The pineapple chicken was very sweet though. Portions were as expected. They have a dinner plate that's called the sezchaun plate but has no sezchuan on it? I don't underatand that. The soup of the day was not listed but when asked they said it was egg drop soup. It is on the menu separately? The soup was ok but heavy on peas. Not great but very meh. They are very pricy. 4 people was over $90 without alcohol. It was vey quiet when we were there even with several parties. Not going back. Panda express is better. read more

Having moved from SE TX to NW NV, we are still on the search for Chinese food that is decent. We still have not found that. Even with the good reviews. 1st, we ordered to go. I went to pick it up, and the restaurant was really confusing inside. I was looking for a hostess stand etc. Nope, a little tiny counter in the back far corner. No signs to let you know that is where you pick up at. 2nd The food was subpar for the price. Had the hot n sour soup. It was just ok. Not much flavor compared to others in the area. Ordered a general's chicken lunch special. It is like sweet n sour chicken breaded just with general's sauce poured over it. Some of the pieces were inedible as they were so hard inside, like this was not their 1st fry. A kung pao (NO SPICE) triple delight lunch special with no beef or peanuts. That was pretty good, but absolutely NO SPICE!!! We wanted SPICE!!!!! 3rd We wanted house fried rice substituted for the regular fried rice but could only get it as a large order that was disappointing to say the least. It literally had 2 shrimp in the entire container, the chicken in it was off tasting, so most of that went into the trash. Not worth the almost 15.00 they charged for it. So, 40.00 of subpar food. Fabulous food with a very deep menu, but maybe a lack of plates and bowls in the back? Sweet older woman kept trying to take dishes off our table. We stopped her three times, she kept coming around, this time asking "Are you finished with this?" I would love even half this attention at some other places (no names). We counted 26 visits to the table to fill water or try to remove plates. We began timing her. On the average, she came around every four minutes. In her defense it was between meals (2:30pm). We were so happy to find this place! Bamboo Garden has a huge, reasonably stable selection of Chinese food. I say reasonably stable because it's not consistently executed. We're pretty consistent with our ordering habits: beef chop suey; beef chow fun; kung pao; fried rice. The first time we ordered everything was amazing! So happy! The second time a few weeks later, not bad; the third time still not bad but -- no love. Different chefs, and you can tell. There's a lady who's there most often to take our orders - who is super nice. Very familiar with the menu, extremely accommodating. The guy, not so nice. A third, gum-smackin' lady, not nice at all. We do take-out, without exception, so I can't speak to the dining experience. Overall, consistent reads on re-ordered dishes: fried rice is lackluster, plain, disappointing; kung pao is consistently delish; crab Rangoon is pretty tasteless; schezuan chicken is tasty; beef chow fun is good; hot and sour soup went down our sink twice, uneaten. Too much of some charcoal-y taste. Chop suey is a consistent fave. We do love Chinese in a hurry and we'll keep trying these guys. read more

Honestly, it's the best Chinese I've had in Northern Nevada. Came here with my family of 10 people. I called ahead and was told that most likely had a shot to have the one larger table in the restaurant. Not only did we get the table, but we also had some amazing service overall. From the lovely ladies who got our drinks to the server (possibly the owner???). She took our order, everything was 100% correct and even brought us extra tea. The food was amazing. The broth on the soups was delicious. The actual entrees weren't super salty and had just the correct amount of sauce. I'm very impressed and can't wait to go back. read more

I typically order dinner from here when I need a quick and easy meal. Service is fast and friendly. I am really picky about my Chinese food being first generation born Chinese, born and raised in Sacramento. There are many authentic places to go to and I would consider this as Americanized Chinese fast food dining. I ordered a family dinner for 3 and the Crispy Duck all for $99.85. The Duck was $23. Family dinners are always as expected 3/5. Duck was absolutely dry -- worse than beef jerky. Not meaty at all. I got served a starving, overly dry, blackened duck with feathers partially plucked on one piece. Crispy duck should be served shiny, golden brown plump, juicy, and flavorful. It shouldn't be too fatty and the skin should've been crispy. I took it back. Owner tried to refund me my $23.00, but I wanted to prove a point. It's not about the money I spent. It is about meeting expectations of what's being served. I advised her as an owner, she should have managed her cooks and the duck should have never left the kitchen. Her reply was that she got it that way and she told me never to order it again! I told her that is not the point! She should be managing the quality and take it off the menu and say " Sorry, No duck today." I hope she got the point and learned from my experience. read more

1st, the soup arrived room temperature warm, (hot & sour), my friends soup was cold (egg flower). food was good, the vegetables were crispy, but had only 3 pieces chicken. we had to share the dipping sauce with 7 people. Now, the menu posted on the web is from 1980. The prices are 7.25 for lunch, but the menu handed to me were 12.75 for lunch. Update your posted menus so we do not pay unknown prices. Service was overwhelmed with the dishes and had no clue who ordered what. Even with additional help, they did not know how to service and taking the payment. read more

Ordered the lunch general chicken for me and my wife and a pork fried rice for my kids to split. From the get go the owner lady seemed to be annoyed that we had our kids and she kept looming over our table and staring the entire time which made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Was excited to go back, NEVER again after most recent visit and that's due to the hostile owner who wanted to argue with me that the chicken they served me was good. It WASNT. It was rubbery and chewy. Not at all like the first visit. He must be cheap. I don't know, when it comes to restaurants. We ordered the Orange peel chicken, which was very disappointing. It was just chicken skin with orange sauce. We also ordered the Sweet and Sour pork, and the pork was very dry. We also ordered the Sweet and Sour Shrimp, which was the best part of the meal. It was flavorful. If you're looking for an appetizer, the friend wontons are pretty good, too! Went to Bamboo garden with 6 friends last night. Service was good and they accomodated our group with a large round table that had a convenient lazy susan in the middle. I was very disappointed that the quality of their food had changed. I ordered the Happy Family and it tasted nothing like I had enjoyed last year. The sauce was watery and not the same taste.
