Dish NOT to get! Ma Po Tofu, needed more spice, too bland and boring.

I just wanted to get a quick to go order of the BBQ Pork Egg Fu Young. Normally this dish comes to the table with the egg patty under a mountain of goodies and gravy, but getting this to go would likely end up in a mess trying to travel with that, so, the solution is get them to pack the patty by itself and put the liquid sauce and meat veggie mix in a big soup container. That way nothing gets spilled on the way home and then at home you can pour just the amount you want on the egg patty. This worked out so well, I may just order the sauce separate when I dine in next time. The BBQ pork egg fu young was delicious and no other restaurant serves it this way. Usually you just get some bare egg patties and some bland gravy to pour on it with no meat or veggies in it! Panda Kitchen for the win! The food was still super hot when I arrived home 15 mins away. Steamed rice is included as well, not EXTRA like other Chinese joints.

4/14/2023 Wanted to take a drive and break in my new tires.. Both were wanting to try a new Chinese restaurant.. We were warned that there was only one cook tonight. So the wait would be longer.. Ordered: crab Rangoon- Nice! 8 won tons very nice portion for the price Chicken chow mein- nice tender, small pieces of chicken and no filler of cabbage or bean sprouts.. Honey walnut prawns- for the price and the plump battered prawns in a sweet but not too sweet sauce- very good- Half duck- a little disappointing- over deep fried and the half a duck was a skinny duck.. not much meet Service was great. Definitely will be back for the lunch specials. Great pricing, great portions and authentic background music.

We had a great meal and service. Food was delicious and hot. Will definitely be going back.

Hot and sour soup. Love the plentiful Tofo, mushrooms, and spice!

I had a lovely rainy/snowy Saturday late lunch at china palace. Hot & sour soup, Kung pao shrimp with friendly service and witnessed other pleased patrons. The veggies were fresh and crisp, rice nice and light, and peanuts freshly toasted. $11. Grabbed a menu for future take out. The prices are very reasonable and great quality!

We have not driven out to China Palace in a while so a visit was in order. Surprisingly the restaurant was empty due to street vibrations; so today was an opportune time to drop by, we practically had the whole restaurant to ourselves. We ordered our usual favorite entrees like the Crab Rangoon and Honey Walnut Shrimp (plump juicy shrimp and very lightly battered) and then we tried a few new entrees General Chicken (also lightly battered with good size pieces of chicken and a mildly spicy sauce) and a new favorite appetizer: the pot stickers. Their potstickers were so massive, it was a meal on to itself and while the potstickers were good on its own, the sauce that accompanied it was sheer perfection! All the food was masterfully prepared. But as impressive as the food was, the service is equally as wonderful. The chef, himself, came out and thanked us for our business at the beginning of the meal and checked back at the end of the meal to ask how everything was: excellent we admitted. Every member of this family owned restaurant is always welcoming and friendly, we always feel appreciate for our patronage each time we've dined here and it shows in the proprietors' demeanor and their delectable food.

If you're not familiar with Indonesian cuisine they'll walk you through it. The man working the grill noticed I ordered tofu and checked into make sure any dietary restrictions were covered, I don't have any but it was a nice touch. He also made sure the spice level was what I wanted ahead of time. I can do spicy, but probably not Indo spicy, so he kept it within my limits. I got the lumpia and tofu/egg/rice entree whose name I cannot remember. Absolutely delicious. No qualifiers like "for Carson city" or "for a casino". It was really great. They also made their own (very) hot sauce and riff on Chinese mustard. Both great. Way more than I could finish so they boxed it up beautifully. Then whammo, a surprise fruit salad for palate cleanser/dessert. Love it. Note: they have real sugar Pepsi. Whole heartedly recommend

It's just a small grill with Tee Jay and another cook behind the flat top, but the vibe is warm and playful. They chatted with us while cooking, shared a bit about Indonesian flavors and what to expect, and made the whole thing feel welcoming -- like being fed by friends instead of ordering at a counter. I had the smash burger -- crispy edges, juicy, simple, and really satisfying. My husband got the shroom burger and loved it -- super garlicky and savory. The surprise for me was their ranch blue made with Gorgonzola. I usually don't like blue cheese, but this was creamy, mellow, and honestly delicious. I kept dipping my fries in it. Nothing fancy, just honest comfort food made with care and genuinely kind people. If you're passing through Carson City and want something local and heartfelt instead of chain food, this little spot is absolutely worth the stop. We'd happily go back.

The boba is gritty squares in different colors with odd taste (not chewy round balls). But the green tea on ice, it came with was good. The meatball pho I usually get now also has raw beef slices also put directly ON the noodles it comes with. Ir they got the order incorrect three times. I would never order anything raw normally. I was surprised to see blood soaked noodles when I opened my to-go container. The meatballs were ok but not the size or consistency of all the other phos I've had. The little bag of bean sprouts was minimal quantity of sprouts, basil I had to throw most out with black leaves. I've tried this place twice in 6 months getting meals for two to -go each time and won't be back. 5 months ago I ordered and 2 meals were both wrong when I got home so that's a separate issue to check your order before you leave. Hopefully they get it all fixed as this is a great location.

We usually order our food to go, and we were happy to see that they have upgraded to to-go bowls. Sadly, the things the pho is served with (packets, basil, limes, onions, jalapeños, sprouts) were all thrown into 1 bag instead of 3 separate bags-1 for each person. This made it hard as 1 person in our group is allergic to onions and asked for no onions and there was still onions in the bag...just a smaller portion than for 3 orders. We also have one person that can't do spicy and having the jalapenos in the bag made everything spicy. We all found several dark hairs in our food. We know it isn't ours since 2 are bald and I am blonde. IF we return, we will definitely be asking for everything to be separate since 2 of our 3 people only got to eat noodles and their meat.

So, my local friend wanted to take me to this Thai restaurant right down on the main street in downtown, if Carson has an actual downtown that is. We got parking right in front of the place on the main street. Inside is nice and elegant in a Thai kinda way. Nicer than a casual mom and pop Thai joint. We get seated at a nice table near the front. My friend already knows the menu, so I go with hos suggestion for the Lunch special Duck with sauce over rice. It's $22 bucks, so it better be good! He has the Thai battered salmon for around $19. Soup is included and it's just a veggie broth, though tasty. Then our lunch specials come out. Oh wow, that duck look really good. It's totally deboned, so no messing with bones at all. The sauce was super tasty. My friend said he thinks its some sort of duck juice reduction with other added stuff. Whatever, this was one of the most tasty duck dishes I've ever had. His salmon was unique, I never saw a dish like that made with salmon. The coating was very unique and crispy and the salmon not over cooked. Overall, I really liked this place. I think my crew is having lunch at one of the local casinos, I'd rather be here!

The bill came to $80 which I felt was kinda steep for 3 items, especially in Carson City. The restaurant is located on a street where there was very limited parking in front and all the rear parking is super dark so bring your night vision goggles. At least there's plenty of parking spots. When I walked in, I was surprised to see Caucasian staff members! Well I guess this isn't that different than Panda Express where you have hispanics in the front and the 1 token asian in the back cooking. I picked up my food and was pleasantly surprised to find the dishes were pretty loaded. I started dipping into my duck curry and OMG it was probably the best I've had. Not only was the flavor amazing and spiced just right, but there was a generous amount of duck! When I went to eat dim sum recently and ordered roast duck, I got a plate of duck that was mostly skin and bones. Here they actually de-boned the meat so you're getting nice chunks of flavorful, meaty duck along with fresh chunks of pineapple, tomatoes, and spices with that yummy curry over my caucasian rice (I like to be culturally sensitive). Even my wife that don't like duck really enjoyed this. So while $80 for 3 dishes may seem a bit high, it was worth it. I really enjoyed my meal here and my kids also ate all their noodles with enough leftovers for lunch the next day.

They even had some specials highlighted as we entered. - Inside there is lots of seating...when we arrived the front of the place was empty, but people were sitting there when we left and we noticed that it is much quieter in that section of the restaurant than in the main dining room. - As others have noted, chorizo is their specialty and it's in many of the dishes. And, it is worth it!...and, not spicy like you might think of chorizo. My wife and I ordered the Quesadilla and the Basque Omelette, and we split both (plus, we took some home too). Each dish was really good in its own right, and being able to have the chorizo prepared two ways was great. Their home fries were really tasty too. - Service was good....very attentive, especially considering that it took us a while to decide what to order given the breadth of the menu. - We paid cash because of their sign indicating that that was preferred. Bottom line: We'd go back to Villa Basque Cafe anytime we're in Carson City...next time, we'd like to try some of their lunch options!

We just filled out the little forms, circling what we wanted. They even offered shrimp for no extra cost. You won't get that in any Chinese restaurant!
