Quesabirria, fish, Al pastor, carnitas tacos
    Nina Z.

This place hit the spot! The fresh tortillas were great. Loved the quesabirria, Al pastor, and carnitas. Fish taco was ok. Salsas were good. Tamale de elote was new for me- a cold sweet tamale which was interesting. Definitely want to come back and try the burritos too!

I love coming to Mexican markets that have an attached kitchen, the food is fresh and you can pick up some essentials for your cocina while getting tacos or a burrito. I came in with some friends on a late evening and the place was still busy. Some items are a la carte, so you can try a number of different things without having to worry about combos. The tacos are on the small side, but that is great too because you can try more options! I ordered 4 tacos pastor, they were juicy and flavorful. I could have had more, but it was enough to satisfy me. I also got a large horchata, it was made fresh and was delicious! It could have been filtered a little better, it was a touch gritty, but that is the only thing I would have changed in my whole meal. Next to the kitchen there is a seating area to enoy your meal. Come and get a burrito, tacos, a torta, or a combo, pick up some groceries and have a great meal.

Centro Market, where Authentic Mexican Flavor and Great People Meet Centro Market is one of those hidden gems that every community needs. It's the place where you can find all your favorite Mexican products, from pan dulce (a total necessity in cold weather!) and champurrado, to ceviche, chicharrones, burritos, enchiladas, cakes, and all the authentic ingredients for home cooking, mole sauce mix, ripe plantains, prickly pears, and fresh corn masa for tortillas or tamales. Basically, if you need it for your Mexican dishes, or South American cooking, they've got it. But the real reason I'm finally writing this (long overdue) review is because of Hector, the butcher at Centro Market, truly an OG. All I have to do is describe what I need, and he makes it happen. Recently I wanted thin lamb steaks to grill alongside my asada...done. (Just a tip: the lamb is frozen, so plan ahead if you want it for grilling.) In the past , I've asked for a pig head cut in half for tamales and guess what? He made that happen too. There's honestly nothing the gentlemen in the meat department won't do to help. They're hardworking, efficient, and always willing to go the extra mile. On top of that, they set such a great vibe in the store. It's not unusual to find Hector behind the counter singing along to Juan Gabriel or another classic tune. That kind of energy makes every visit feel like a small celebration of culture and community. Centro Market isn't just a store, it's a piece of home. Note: The store will be relocating sometime after the holidays -- possibly in January -- near the Dairy Queen area on Hwy 50. So keep an eye out for their new location and continue supporting this amazing team!

Got centro market for the first time as a to go meal and we liked it! I got a veggie burrito and added Guac, cheese and sour cream. I feel these ingredients usually already come on a veggie burrito so I was surprised go have to pay extra for them. The burrito was HUGE. Overall pretty good but a little salty. My husband got an Al pastor burrito and also added Guac, sour cream and cheese. He liked it but wished the ingredients were a little more evenly mixed. He said all the Guac was just at the end of his burrito for example. We also got the fresas con crema and they were divine. One of my favorite desserts.

Market has a TON of great options, including pick your own dried peppers and in-house made beef jerky. We went for lunch and got fresh baked bread (50 cents and still warm, such a deal) and tacos, burritos and a quesadilla. The asada taco was the best, I'd skip the pastor and carnitas. Chicken quesadilla was the best thing on the menu and the cheese / sour cream dipping sauce was delicious.

Our friends live in Carson City and highly recommended this place to us for lunch! This is a market where you can get groceries but they also have a kitchen where they make delicious Mexican food. Ordering at the counter was a bit overwhelming, the menu is on a display screen but kept changing as I was trying to order. It would be helpful to have a screen that does not change, or at least have printed versions of the menu. The staff talk very fast and were obviously in a hurry during their busy lunch crowd, so it felt pretty rushed trying to order. My husband got the carne asada burrito with red sauce, I got carne asada fries, and we split two tacos (chicken and carnitas). The food was all delicious! Their meats were especially impressive and cooked so well. The salsas were very flavorful and made everything taste even better. I wasn't a huge fan of the carne asada fries, I wish they came with guacamole and some other additional toppings. You can purchase their salsas and guacamole in bulk here which is pretty cool. I wish I could've tried more and/or added some to my fries but I didn't really have time to ask if that was an option since they were moving through the line so fast. They also have some homemade drinks in giant jugs by the register, I got a horchata and it was so good! Extra sweet though, so probably not something everyone would like. Overall, this was a great find and I'm sure we will be back to try more next time we are down in Carson City.

US Foods, Chef store, as an overall company model is a net benefit to any community. If you think about it, the big players in hospitality have supply chain and distribution all figured out. US Foods supports the small independent businesses which are the backbone of the economy. Every business requires a level of proactivity and organization to be successful, but when it comes to having something ready to go in that last-minute pinch, US Foods solves many needs. If planned properly, with the "click and carry" option, everything can be ordered ahead for the week and picked up in one load. Prices are better than delivery overall. Many shelf stable items are on sale frequently and can be stock piled. Using US Foods chef store, and other direct to consumer stores for our supply chain during these pivotal years has allowed us to stockpile win, able, and order fewer items more often as necessary. Rough estimates for the five-year savings of using this method is close to $350,000. From 2021 to 2026. As compared to ordering from Sysco, US Foods direct, Chef's Warehouse, Bakemark, etc. While distribution companies are also extremely important for the private operator, the US Foods Chef store direct to consumer model requires no minimum, no surcharge, and allows for an individual operator to order as much or as little as needed. This morning I purchased a click and Karie order from the Carson City US Foods Chef store. I ordered it for Tuesday, but was told it wouldn't be until Friday. They communicated well and I had planned for the delay. I called them on Friday to verify that it had arrived, then went in on Saturday morning, super early to pick it up.
