Founding a food service company in 2021,in a mountain town where it can be feast or famine, in an era affected by a pandemic, wildfires, and many regional challenges the Carson City US Foods store in particular has helped us greatly. US Foods, Chef store, as an overall company model is a net benefit to any community. If you think about it, the big players in hospitality have supply chain and distribution all figured out. US Foods supports the small independent businesses which are the backbone of the economy. Every business requires a level of proactivity and organization to be successful, but when it comes to having something ready to go in that last-minute pinch, US Foods solves many needs. If planned properly, with the "click and carry" option, everything can be ordered ahead for the week and picked up in one load. Prices are better than delivery overall. Many shelf stable items are on sale frequently and can be stock piled. Using US Foods chef store, and other direct to consumer stores for our supply chain during these pivotal years has allowed us to stockpile win, able, and order fewer items more often as necessary. Rough estimates for the five-year savings of using this method is close to $350,000. From 2021 to 2026. As compared to ordering from Sysco, US Foods direct, Chef's Warehouse, Bakemark, etc. While distribution companies are also extremely important for the private operator, the US Foods Chef store direct to consumer model requires no minimum, no surcharge, and allows for an individual operator to order as much or as little as needed. This morning I purchased a click and Karie order from the Carson City US Foods Chef store. I ordered it for Tuesday, but was told it wouldn't be until Friday. They communicated well and I had planned for the delay. I called them on Friday to verify that it had arrived, then went in on Saturday morning, super early to pick it up. I've passed this place countless times as I've travelled to the nearby Office Depot, CVS, and/or Lowe's. So today and with some time on my hands, I wandered in and walked every aisle. US Foods CHEF'STORE is a bit Costco, a bit Smart & Final, and a bit Aldi. This place would supplement a grocery run, especially if you were planning a large family gathering. Their direct to consumer model probably fits more towards restaurants, including supplies like pizza boxes. I found prices to be reasonable, the perishables to be fresh, and with good selections in places like coffee syrups. Gayle and I will continue to shop Raley's as our main grocery store and with small item supplements at Trader Joes. But for the larger guest feeds, we'll be back. read more

5/25/2024- I like this location, as it's on the way back to the freeway.. The other store in Reno, is further from me.. So glad they carry a few Asian items.. and coffee syrups!.. They also had a big back of wood chips for the bbq (green egg).. but next trip.. read more

I agree with Jane B. Check your receipts. This location has so many times charged more than the sale price of items. I've complained about it many times over the years. I even went as far as to contact the company by email to tell them whats going on at this location a long time ago. The email was ignored. I've had to get in a habit of watching the prices they ring up and calling them out on the spot. Sometimes I have to open a browser on my phone and prove it to them too. It's to much. When I am buying meat in bulk, I always love to come to US foods Chef store because it runs from 479 a pound restaurant quality anywhere to 1099 a pound which is a lot cheaper than the warehouses and their prices. And I end up only buy a specific things here not everything in the store like at the warehouse is so I end up saving money actually in the end and their meat quality is top notch. read more

I have been looking for a long time, I think over a year, for the silicon rubber spatula scrapers that are heat resistant and NOT MADE IN CHINA and I finally found them here! I bought a whole set. There's a lot of other neat things in this store too for the home kitchen if you're looking for good quality. read more

Although this place is more for restaurants I go in here on a regular basis as an individual consumer. I find their prices to be extremely good and you can find restaurant quality things and then make recipes at home. I also buy their disposable coffee cups which makes life super convenient ! read more

I went to this store Tuesday, April 9, 2019. This was relatively new to Carson City, opening early last December, and I wanted to check it out. You can see an article about the grand opening here: https://carsonnow.org/story/12/04/2018/carson-city-s-smart-food-service-grand-opening-friday-dec-7 It is located in the Silver City Mall (technical name, but no one calls it that), right next to Office Depot, at the northeast corner of Fairview Drive and North Carson Street. I went in the mid afternoon, so it was not too crowded. There were only one of two cash register stations open, which was adequate to serve the customers there. Parking was also pretty easy. This is a wholesale store specializing in food service that is open to the public without a membership like at Costco or Sam's Club. The downside is that prices are a little higher, sometimes a lot higher. For example, they sell Heinz 114 oz. ketchup for $6.47, but I bought it at Walmart for $4.77, and a few months earlier for a similar price at Costco. The packaged bulk Brussels sprouts were almost double what I paid at Costco. You can look at my pictures of some of the foods they offer and prices and decide for yourself. The selection is large, and the store itself is pretty large. You can find things here in bulk, restaurant sizes that you couldn't in regular wholesale clubs or Walmart. For example, they have a walk-in refrigerated meat and cheese room with insanely large packages of all kinds of meats and cheeses, like sliced chuck roll, huge ground beef rolls, sausages, BelGioioso shaved cheese (for Caesar salads), and hot dogs. There were also things like 50 lb. bags of potatoes, all kinds of rice (Costco features just one or two in bulk), bulk dressings, etc. They also have and click-and-carry service, which makes shopping easier. The downside is they do not accept EBT like most other grocery stores do, including all the wholesale clubs like Costco. I have some friends who use this and buy in bulk to save money, so this store would be out for them. They claim to be open to the public, but in reality, they are open only to certain members of the public. Seems kind of elitist and snobbish to me. I guess they don't like people who use EBT. This is a real turn off to me. Maybe they have some reason, like it wouldn't make financial sense for them, but to me, that is the cost of doing business. Even farmer's markets and stores like Big Lots nowadays take EBT. I was going to give a higher rating, but when I learned about the EBT issue, I lowered my opinion of this store. I do not recommend them and will not patronize them in the future. Sorry not sorry. read more

We wanted a Turkey roast for Thanksgiving. It was a week before. I live in Gardnerville. I called them to find out how many they had left. They only had 2. The guy was really cool. He put one aside and for us. The store has a ton of cool foods for a household and is very affordable. I highly recommend a trip to see what they have. read more

Love this store! I am not a business owner but I do shop here once in a while to get my regular stuff because their prices are much cheaper and they also have tons of selection to choose. My usual list are the sparkling water, cheese, coffee flavor mix, onion rings and also frozen desserts. The employees are very helpful and nice. read more
