Walmart Supercenter, Carson City

Consistent with the Walmart brand meaning that the further you get from Bentonville, the less quality you can expect. At this location, it started with the cart corrals being nearly full and some trash in the parking lot. Inside, some items were out of stock and the shelves clearly weren't leveled. I found the snacks I needed for the van and only had a medium wait to ring up my own purchases at a self-checkout. Like many stores, they're increasingly moving away from registers with an associate and instead these "Scan and go" stations. Restrooms were in need of attention but not terrible. Some hand towels on the floor and the bin was nearly full. Water on the counters, too. I've seen better. I've seen a lot worse. https://www.yelp.com/collection/iEN80LJSkej5A7UvndopUw/World-of-Wallys This is my first Walmart in Nevada! [Review 17687 overall - 33 in Nevada - 1208 of 2022.]

I bring my glasses here 4 times a year for tightening and adjusting. They're happy to do it at no charge. Occasionally, they have a nice sale on frames or other accessories. A friend even turned me on to their eyeglass cleaning cloths. Incredibly cheap and they do a great job. PRO TIP: Keep a close eye on prices. We began noticing almost two years ago that the price on the shelf isn't always the price at the register. Conservatively speaking about twenty times, so far. As a result, we never buy more than two dozen items per visit and we photograph the price listed on the shelf. We usually have one mistake to rectify. I'm really curious how many hundreds of thousands were invested in redesigning the front end of the store. They quadrupled the number of self scan units and I don't see very many people use them. I laugh my ass off each time we come in. I bet that money could have been spent differently. In a more humane fashion? Unless the line is tremendously long, I just go through the cashier lane, anyway. This is still an essential place for last minute items, middle of the night items and of course low cost items. We grocery shop the sale stuff, look at seasonal clothes and head to the electronics area to find reduced bluRay movies that we'll never ever watch. 11/19

This is a great Trader Joe's. What's not to love?…read more I've been shopping at this Trader Joe's for about 5 years now and since I'm eating out less this month, what better time to review a grocery store? The selection here is great. They recently remodeled so it's clean and organized and they don't often move things around which is great. This store is a bit smaller than the others nearby in Reno, but still offers plenty. My favorite sections are the freezer and wine selections. So many great grab and go freezer meals at TJs and the wine selection at this store is great. They have a great offering of liquor and beer as well and they support lots of local breweries and distilleries. Love it! The service is awesome here. They always have lots of cashiers and the lines move fast. They often give out samples of new products as well as cheese and wine. When I'm not shopping for groceries at Costco, this is where you can find me! Go Trader Joe's!

I have my groceries taylored there to where it's very economical and yet I don't feel deprived. I believe I actually save money when I grocery shop there in comparison to even most big chain stores. The quality is always tops. I was having a bad day yesterday and the 2 clerks ringing me up asked how my day was going. I just told them in a couple of sentences the experience I was having. As I was leaving, one of the clerks put a bouquet of flowers into my basket, free of charge! Who does that? They're amazing.

I had all my groceries on the check out belt. She said NOTHING to me or the others in line. I had to put all back in my cart and move to another lane No apologies, nothing. I was very irritated but said nothing. Today I was in her lane again. I said something about the lack of plowing of snow in the city. She went on to say that I should move to Ca. because I probably loved Newsome. WTH. She doesn't know me or where I'm from. She has no personality, or manners, or professionalism. She is a cancer to an already substandard store. I'm 73 and it's hard enough to get out, but to have to deal with Mimi is a nightmare. I am sure I am not the first to report her. Not good, Smiths.

Maria, Marry, and Mimi are absolutely brilliant, courteous, and highly efficient. They have endured prolonged corporate restructuring, changes to the entire floor plan, loss of some of their best (RIP Trevis) and not reflected in any reviews. Their incredibly knowledgeable team operates with stellar performance that people completely take for granted, never mind a few peevish one-star reviews which bear no relation whatsoever to the professionalism benefiting the Carson community. These outstanding individuals assist hundreds of people every week and simply don't get enough credit for how much they have done right, making the difference nobody sees-- they are like front-end phantoms you might not even notice on a busy day- which seems to be every day! They have a working knowledge of every single product being sold, and where to find it. I have even been met at the register someone handing me the very product I couldn't even pronounce correctly to find that someone had gone out of their way to make sure I found what I needed and handed it to me while I was already in checkout! This is to set the review section straight, and you can ignore all peevish, resentful reviews bearing no reflection of what this great team has done to improve this location over the years!

They sell them in bags of 8 now, instead of requiring you like before to buy two bags of six for a dozen bagels. The new price is basically $5.00 for 8, so I guess the price per bagel has gone up, but what hasn't. HERE IS THE BIG NEWS! THE BAGELS ARE NOW WATER BOILED! I saw the big sign on the wall, "water boiled". What that means is they're more like real bagels like you would find in an actual bagel shop, a more dense and chewy bagel, yeah like New York, I guess, even though I've never been. The previous bagels were basically fluffy beard donuts! Costco ended their association with Einstein's bagels (the bread donut ones) and now makes their own using water boiling before baking at each store. I tried them and, whoa, what a difference, it way better. Maybe not totally as good as an actual bagel shop, but way better than what they had before. I used to avoid Costco bagels, but not any more. Try them out!

I have an executive membership that can get us in at 9am and the food court is all ready to go at that time. Hot dogs for the road with a soda too even! They all go hell, yeah! So we pull in and it's just before opening at 9 am. Plenty of parking, not like those big city Costco's at opening. We go in and I have my membership card scanned and head straight to the food court. I go up to the little kiosk thingy and tap in 5 hot dogs and sodas ... $7.50 the feed the whole crew! plus a little tax of course. The staff whips those out in no time and we fill our sodas. I like they switched back to coke products, I like them better than Pepsi products. Over at the condiments, we all squeeze out the mustard, relish and catsup on our dogs and sit at the open tables. These are a little messy to eat, so better make a mess at tables, than inside the Suburban! This was a nice tasty treat in the morning to keep everybody happy till we get to Sacramento. This is a really nice not crowded Costco!

Store was fully stocked, and staffed with many helpful people. I was looking for something slightly special (gum agar) and thought Sprouts might have it. I was strolling the store and several workers asked if I needed help. I said I was looking for something, if I couldn't find it I'd come ask...and eventually that's what I did. The woman who helped me was efficient and interested in what I was looking for...and she found it! I'm so glad I didn't have to go to additional stores OR resort to Amazon. The woman at checkout was cherry and engaging...I detest self checkout because having nice little encounters is what makes the difference in the day. So don't forget Sprouts is now in CC. Wide variety of items, nice "do-able" size store. Everything from food ready to eat all the way to esoteric ingredients! (I needed the agar to make balsamic pearls!)

US Foods, Chef store, as an overall company model is a net benefit to any community. If you think about it, the big players in hospitality have supply chain and distribution all figured out. US Foods supports the small independent businesses which are the backbone of the economy. Every business requires a level of proactivity and organization to be successful, but when it comes to having something ready to go in that last-minute pinch, US Foods solves many needs. If planned properly, with the "click and carry" option, everything can be ordered ahead for the week and picked up in one load. Prices are better than delivery overall. Many shelf stable items are on sale frequently and can be stock piled. Using US Foods chef store, and other direct to consumer stores for our supply chain during these pivotal years has allowed us to stockpile win, able, and order fewer items more often as necessary. Rough estimates for the five-year savings of using this method is close to $350,000. From 2021 to 2026. As compared to ordering from Sysco, US Foods direct, Chef's Warehouse, Bakemark, etc. While distribution companies are also extremely important for the private operator, the US Foods Chef store direct to consumer model requires no minimum, no surcharge, and allows for an individual operator to order as much or as little as needed. This morning I purchased a click and Karie order from the Carson City US Foods Chef store. I ordered it for Tuesday, but was told it wouldn't be until Friday. They communicated well and I had planned for the delay. I called them on Friday to verify that it had arrived, then went in on Saturday morning, super early to pick it up. Three people thanked me for my business. They each made me feel respected and appreciated. I'm happy to give them the business! Well, done, Team!
